Season 2 Episode 10- Featuring Kylen Milton
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball player Kylen Milton joined me on the show this week! Born in Monticello, Arkansas, Kylen’s home will forever be Drew County. An athlete at heart, Kylen grew a passion for football, because of his father’s impact at UAM (The University of Arkansas at Monticello). Kylen became a late bloomer with basketball but quickly dedicated his time to it. A chance to represent the city, Kylen played every game as a Drew Central Pirate as if it was his last. Transferring to Conway High School, Kylen felt deteriorated, and after having a severe injury, he almost quit the game of basketball. Through the motivation of his peers, his talent began to grow and he became one of the top players in the state.
Kylen quickly gained notice from colleges after transferring to Conway his junior year and originally committed to Oral Roberts University. During that next year, with the opportunity of a lifetime, Kylen took the chance to go down to Atlanta, Georgia, and be a part of Core4prep. Gaining the knowledge of his body, and his game, Kylen quickly developed into a standout athlete. Traveling across the country, Kylen quickly began making a name for himself. Decommiting from Oral Roberts, Kylen sought out other programs and landed on Western Kentucky University/ Gaining knowledge from one of the best coaches in the country and phenomenal teammates, Kylen learned what it was like to truly get to the next level. After a lot of conflicts, he wanted to gain more playing time and eventually entered his name in the transfer portal after the season. Arriving back home, Kylen committed to UAPB, under Solomon Bozeman, former assistant coach at Oral Roberts. Looking to change the landscape at UAPB, the mission is simple: win. I asked Kylen, what does he want to remember. He told me, “I always repped my city, Monticello, Arkansas.”
