Tom & Kayla had seen the film, Michael and they had ALOT to say about it. Diving deep into the film, sharing their thoughts on the story, performances, standout moments and overall, despite his controversies, why they LOVE (or are scared of) Michael...Plus talk about other celebrities they love despite their own controversies.
Hello! It's been a minute. I forgot that we started like that every time. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03What's up? What is happening?
SPEAKER_06We went and saw Michael.
SPEAKER_02We went and saw Michael moments ago.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, we just came back. We haven't Well, we said we weren't gonna talk about it between leaving the cinema and now. But then at the tram stop, we like immediately started talking about it.
SPEAKER_02The case it was busting at the seams. We had to debrief to the debrief.
SPEAKER_06Yes, but what is this? Who are we? Who are we?
SPEAKER_02This is oh so glad you asked. I'm so glad you asked.
SPEAKER_06I was meant to join in there, wasn't I?
SPEAKER_02I was so glad you asked about the Michael film.
SPEAKER_06I'm so glad you asked about the Michael film because apparently you have a lot to say.
SPEAKER_02I do have a lot to say. Apparently you have a lot to say.
SPEAKER_06I do. I don't even know. I've been it's been like an hour now and I still haven't fully like been able to consolidate all my thoughts into like a short sentence about it.
SPEAKER_02Of course, we don't want to spoil the film for those who haven't seen it yet.
SPEAKER_06No one dies.
SPEAKER_02It's like we're yeah but I will say that we are going to, I guess, crack open, yes, that case of the pros and the cons, the thoughts, the that can of Pepsi.
SPEAKER_06That can of Pepsi.
SPEAKER_02Screw Pepsi, I'm not drinking Pepsi at all.
SPEAKER_06Do you see the antagonist of the Michael film? Because they kind of only come around in the in the climax and they do a deal a serious blow to our hero. I think they're the major antagonist. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Don't worry.
SPEAKER_06Don't worry about don't worry about Joe Jackson. He's off there, he's he's just stewing. This movie's so repetitive. This movie has so many scenes of Joe Jackson just being like, oh, and now my next plan with Michael, and someone's like, you can't do that with Michael, and he's like, Who are you to tell me? And then it's like 20 minutes later, we're gonna get the same scene again.
SPEAKER_02When Pepsi, I think, just came up like a sneak attack. So that's why he's 100% the antagonist.
SPEAKER_06Yes. Do you even like Pepsi?
SPEAKER_02I do. I actually sometimes prefer it than uh Coke, but I go in waves, something I want a bit more sugary, so then I go to Pepsi, something I want a bit more loud.
SPEAKER_06That's my problem with it. Pepsi gives you like that gunk at the back of your throat. Like, you ever get that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it gave gunk on the back of Michael's head, too.
SPEAKER_06I uh we we mentioned this, but I was I remember being like I I didn't tell you this specific. I remember being on an excursion to the Shrine of Remembrance in like year six.
SPEAKER_00Classic.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, or like when like the teacher's like, what do we do for this, like, this part of the curriculum? And then like one person walks in and like, I have an excursion for you. Um but there was like one person who like worked at the shrine, and we were in like this little um like container, like storage container that was like a classroom sort of thing with like dummies and displays. And for some reason it came up and he's like, Do you guys ever hear about when Michael Jackson did a Pepsi commercial and his hair caught on fire? And I was like, No, never heard about this. And he was like, Yeah, he almost died. And I'm like, how could you almost die from your hair catching on fire? But then we watched the movie and I'm like, oh, that does look pretty bad.
SPEAKER_02That does look pretty bad.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because he's bad. He's bad. He's very, very bad. He's very, very bad. But in this film, he's predict he's, I guess, uh portrayed as this gorgeous man who went through life having a terrible father, of course. As we said, it's history, so you know, no spoilers. The dad was shit. Uh and then growing his career with his family, but then going off and doing his own thing. What a way for his nephew, Jafar, to also Jafar, the sorcerer. The sorcerer from a legend, the guy from Aladdin with this.
SPEAKER_06Yes.
SPEAKER_02And so many great shots of him, as you said, like looking exactly like.
SPEAKER_06There's like a specific angle. I think I mentioned that it's like it's like a three-quarter view from behind where he's like looking around, like just a little bit, like the camera's here and he's like that. And I'm like, that's Michael. That's Mike.
SPEAKER_03That's Mikey. That's Mike.
SPEAKER_06I want to say up front, I think this movie's really weird, just to start. And I also think that they do a really weird job with Michael in the sense that he kind of doesn't have any flaws or or like inherent negative traits. Everything he does is like, it's his spare time. So Michael's back at the hospital giving some toys to kids. It's like, okay, I get it. He the surely there were some problems with him, right?
SPEAKER_02I think that they uh took the best parts of who he was at that time as well, where you know the drugs hadn't kicked in, he wasn't going through that type of like hallucinating those behaviors due to that.
SPEAKER_06He was just fucking around with a monkey.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was just loving a monkey. Uh he they definitely took well, from what was depicted anyway, the best version of him when none of the trauma, none of the, you know, I guess I would use the word psychosis in a way with some of the drugs that he was taking, that he kind of fell into, you know, more of the surgeries. They kind of just look towards more of this like loving man who, as we were saying, off pod as well, going through this kind of like mental state of not being able to grow the childhood. Yeah, like that arrested development. Yeah. And with buying things. Often in the film, it's just about him buying more stuff.
SPEAKER_06I I saw a clip the other day of like Michael walking around. This is like scary Michael, and he's like walking around.
SPEAKER_01Wait, hold on. What's the difference between good Michael and scary Michael?
SPEAKER_06We know the difference. We all know that when when he started to look like he had a butt chin, that's when you can define scary Michael. Yeah. And anyway, it's like a clip of him in like a Las Vegas, like I think showroom, and he's just walking around like pointing at things and not looking at the price tags, being like, Oh, look at that chest set, that looks so nice. And it's like probably like six thousand dollars or something like that. And he's just walking around and he buys like the whole store. And the guy like who runs is like rubbing his hands together, like, yes.
SPEAKER_02There was one toy store that got a couple of shots. Yeah, Tom's toys. Tom's Tom's toys.
SPEAKER_06That actually this is such a minor thing. They have they held on a couple of exterior shots of Tom's toys. This I don't know if it's real, it's probably just a Toys R Us, but they have like this logo for it where it's like two identifiable toys, and then what I figure is meant to be Tom at the bottom, but it's really scary. It's like just this egg shape with like two holes and like for eyes and another hole for a mouth. And it's just like and it's like honestly scary. And I'm like, I only clocked it on like the third establishing shot of Tom's toys, but I was like, What is that, Tom? And then it was gone. At least they gave you a chance to think about it again. Yeah, well, it's maybe the most the most thought-provoking thing in the film, I would say.
SPEAKER_01That and bubbles.
SPEAKER_06Bubbles. That really got me out of it. Let's talk about bubbles.
SPEAKER_02I I loved the relationship. I was like, I want one of those. Hold on, he's CGI.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he is. He's he's Robbie Williams.
SPEAKER_02He's Robbie Williams, better man.
SPEAKER_06Did you ever see the Fablemans, the Steven Spielberg movie? Yeah. There's a bit in that where Michelle Williams, who plays like Steven Spielberg's mum, because it's like basically his life, like this really happened. She's like, Oh, I needed a laugh, and she just bought buys a monkey, and then there's just a monkey living with them. And that really happened.
SPEAKER_02The two things I know about monkeys is one monkey ripped the face off a woman.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. And in nope.
SPEAKER_02In nope. Yeah. But also in real life.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Wait, wait, wait. That wasn't a doco?
SPEAKER_0260 Minutes did a whole episode of it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, or nope. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02In nope. And out of nope.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. What else do you know about chimps?
SPEAKER_02Um that Michael loved them. I did realize that he had purchased the monkey quite early on in the career.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that was actually. I'm like, you got some clout, you're moving, like you got giraffes and you've only released one solo album. That's kind of crazy. I would wait until I'd release like three. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But also no one told him no as well.
SPEAKER_06I was like, how did like from what we've seen of Joe, the dad, I'm like, how is he not stepping in and being like, you can't buy a giraffe? Like, I if I'm like a steel worker from and I know this is a real person, so it's hard to characterize as like if I was this character, but if I'm a steel worker from Gary, Indiana, and I'm like a hard and like, I'm gonna like grind my like kids into the dirt, if they come up and they're like, I'm getting a gorilla, I'm like, no, you're not.
SPEAKER_02But I think Joe just loved the idea of like money, money, money, money. When you're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, well that was all they that was all the movie really like I I mentioned this to you off the pod, but I was like, knowing what I like I've always known that Joe was like an evil man because it was always like in the news because I grew up when I was like nine when Michael Jackson died, and so it was like always like oh, evil Joe. But I was like watching it and I'm like, in any other movie, if this was like a made-up character, this would be like a terrible performance and a terrible written, terribly written character, but I'm like, he was moving like that. He did do that.
SPEAKER_02He was trying to sign deals behind the back and get the family back together.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, with Don King, the WWE. Yeah, yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_02All the cameos, all the cameos in this film.
SPEAKER_06They could have had more, honestly. I'm like, I if they make Michael II, which I feel like is they apparently are.
SPEAKER_02His story continues instead of.
SPEAKER_06Yes, yes, yeah. Um was it like his voice continues or something like that? Or his voice I it was something crazy at the end of the movie. But I feel like if they make Michael II, Michaels, I think they should call it Michaels. Michaels. Yeah, Michaels, like aliens aliens. Yeah, Michaels. Um, if they make Michaels, they have so many more opportunities for cameos. Like, and I'm like, at a certain point, I don't even want that, because it would just be gratuitous, but you could put in like some really crazy ones. Like, get Dan Ackroyd in there.
SPEAKER_02Why not? Yeah. You know who wasn't in the film? Janet.
SPEAKER_06Janet. Janet, we got LaToya.
SPEAKER_02We love LaToya. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I said we got LaToya. I did not say we love LaToya.
SPEAKER_02I didn't realize, well, we knew that Janet wasn't a part of it. Yeah. But I just thought, oh, surely, like, there will be a character in it in the family, but she's just like, doesn't speak. Yeah. She's mute.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Nah, she just wasn't a part of the family at all.
SPEAKER_06What they don't show you is that she does exist in this movie. They've just chained her up in another room. And like, yeah, and so like she can't move. So whenever they're like, we're having a family meeting, it's like Janet's there, like, banging against it, like, I want to join the family meeting. That's actually that's canon in the film.
SPEAKER_02Fair. Yeah. I think that that would have been a big trope of like because Janet did her own music career.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Come on, dad, let me be a part of it. Let me be a part of it. And they're like, no, shut up. Let's just talk about your brother.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. A lot of well, we still also did get that though.
SPEAKER_02We did. We did get a lot of that. And I just love the little digs of Jermaine as well. Yeah. And what I love as we were talking about on the tram too, about how Michael's uh interviews where he's like, I love my brothers, even Jermaine.
SPEAKER_06I love Turing.
SPEAKER_02I love Turing, I love Turing.
SPEAKER_06It's killing me. It's killing me. I love it.
SPEAKER_02And then I love the video of Paris Jackson going, Have you seen the video of my dad saying he loves Touring but he doesn't? Amazing. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_06There are so many Jacksons. Because when you said Paris Jackson, I was like, I forgot Paris Jackson existed.
SPEAKER_02Paris Jackson, Prince.
SPEAKER_06Prince Jackson? Prince Jackson.
SPEAKER_02Which is funny because he makes a joke about Prince getting the songs. I think that's a funny joke.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Why didn't he name his kid Prince?
SPEAKER_06Maybe that was like the ultimate, like, I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna name him.
SPEAKER_02And then Blanket.
SPEAKER_06Blanket, yeah. I I remember Blanket being the one that was dangled over the balcony, which was scary as hell.
SPEAKER_02That was scary as hell.
SPEAKER_06Well, okay, so what's your history with Michael Jackson?
SPEAKER_02History? Great album. Um my history, as in my love.
SPEAKER_06Like uh were okay. Can I give you my history and then maybe you can like throw back? Okay. So when I was a kid, I had a DVD of all of his like cool music videos that I was given, and because this was like before YouTube or Vivo. Yeah. Um, and I remember being so compelled because I would watch them and I would try to like dance the way that Michael was dancing, but I found him terrifying. And every time there was like photos of him or like he was on the news, I would be like, That is the scariest man on the planet. But Thriller is really watchable. I was so compelled, and I'm like the music, like and I remember being like Smooth Criminal is so underrated.
SPEAKER_00I remember trying to Yes, say that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, say well, I underrated, like it's not like a top five, but like when I was a kid, my older brother and sister, when I tr when we were watching the music videos on the DVD, I'd be like, now let's watch Smooth Criminal. They were like, they're like, mm, we're gonna go like do something else.
SPEAKER_03And I'm like, guys, he leans. Oh, he does lean, the lean, the ultimate lean.
SPEAKER_06I have one more thing though. I remember watching scary movie three when I was a kid. And that movie, I'm gonna be doing justice. Well, I remember being in year two and like telling a kid being like scary movie three is actually scary, like it lives up to its title because I didn't like the stuff of like the grudge where she's coming out of the TV. I was like, that's scary. But there's a scene in that where there's like a Michael Jackson like impersonator who like fights Charlie Sheen, and that scared me a lot too. And so I'm like, I used to be terrified to the point of I remember being in a swimming pool, and the pool filter cover on the bottom of the pool had like two slits that looked like eyes and another slit that looked like a mouth, and it was like white, and I'm like, that looks like Michael Jackson, he's gonna get me in the pool, so I had to get out of the pool. I fully was terrified of it.
SPEAKER_02And you didn't say anything about Michael Jackson.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because it's so nebulous. I remember feeling relief when he died. I'm gonna say it.
SPEAKER_02Okay, let me tell you about when he died.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, were you there?
SPEAKER_02My history about that is that I did you administer the drugs? No.
SPEAKER_06I signed I signed the prescription. I love that man.
SPEAKER_02I used to play his CDs out the front of the library in primary school as a CD player. Every room in the school, every classroom would get a CD player. What? Now I had issues with stealing the CD players, accidentally breaking them, and then like giving them back. But I remember there was a scandal with one of my friends.
SPEAKER_06Kerry Washington. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Where I got in trouble for leaving the CD player out in the rain, and I definitely did not. And I was saying it's the I'm gonna call that. Ollie, it was you. You left the CD player out in the rain, and he kept telling everyone it was me, and everyone knew, like, thought it was me. It wasn't me though. The other CD players are definitely broke, but I did not leave that one out in the rain.
SPEAKER_06I remember This is like the boy who cried Wolf, the the girl who broke the CD players. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I used to take the CD player and take the Michael Jackson CDs that I borrowed from my friend.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02And I just kept them in like my like tub at school. And we would play music. Yeah. But the day that Michael Jackson passed, uh big day. Big day, I was playing Michael at the front because I thought, oh, he's passed away and let's celebrate everyone.
SPEAKER_05Let's celebrate his death, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Let's celebrate his death. We won't. And I had one of the principals come out and say, Can you please turn that off? We have staff members crying. Like, can you turn it real? Oh my god. And told me off, and I was like, What? What?
SPEAKER_06That's crazy. That is crazy.
SPEAKER_02I also remember being in after school care and making fake phones out of paper because me and my friends are doing a dance to smooth criminal things. And it was all about how I was like the top spy, and I was getting my spy friends to come along and dance with me.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That is my extent of my history. But I do remember distinctly that teacher telling me off and me being like, What do you mean?
SPEAKER_06That's a way more interesting story than my story of when he died, which is I was in the car getting driven to school, and on the news, they're like, Michael Jackson died, and I was like, Yes. And then I get to school and I find my friend and I'm like, Did you hear? And he's like, Yeah, I heard. And I'm like, Because he I had another ongoing thing that he always pretended like he knew. And a couple of times I made things up and I was like, Did you hear this? He's like, Yeah, I heard that. I'm like, mm-hmm. Cause I made that up. Yeah, so this was like a side plot that was brewing with the Michael Jackson death thrown in. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Poor Michael. You didn't like that he that he was. Well, I mean, he did get a little bit scary.
SPEAKER_06He scared the shit out of me, man. I was like fully like, I'm safe now. Yeah. I was like, I'm safe.
SPEAKER_02Oh my word.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I I remember going to like my my Nan's house and watching the videos on like V or V channel or MTV and watching the three ones.
SPEAKER_06Have you seen the one of Anthony Albanese doing it?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_06He's like, rage! It's great.
SPEAKER_03Although he said Michael Jackson, and I went, Can you imagine Michael Jackson with Anthony Albanese's voice?
SPEAKER_06Hey, hey.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I remember watching the music videos. I remember my mum coming into Thriller once and going, Is this it too scary for you?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah. I am. I am up in bed at night thinking about like yellow eyes and like guys that I'm with, like turning to like cameras. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, cameras that you are not aware of.
SPEAKER_02Yes, like fleabag.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Oh, how that moment in the second season of Fleabag when uh the priest also like clocks that she's looking at the camera.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_06Genuinely terrifying though. Like actually, like it's played for last, but like in that moment I was like, what the fuck? It's scary.
SPEAKER_02You're putting fleabag also in the if the if the TV series series never never comes back. Yes. Thank god that Michael Jackson died.
SPEAKER_06I am like Oh, yeah, because it scared the shit out of me. Can you imagine being like, can you hold my hair drink the scary parts of fleabag?
unknownExactly.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Well, when we were watching the movie and there were those moments where Jafar the the sorcerer looked like um Michael, there were like a few moments where I was like reminded of why I was scared of him as a kid, and I was like, I wasn't scared, but I was like, oh yeah. He frightened me.
SPEAKER_02He frightened you.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he frightened the shit out of me.
SPEAKER_02I I think the most frightening thing was about all of those allegations coming out about him, which hey, might be in the Michael II film.
SPEAKER_06Can you fucking imagine? Can you imagine just the whole film about they're doing like Earth Song and then it's like Michael, we need to talk.
unknownYeah!
SPEAKER_02Like, what is part two gonna be about? Oh duh What is part because it did say at the end, his story continues. So what exactly is part two? Because we ended on him going to his uh the last, well, what tour was it?
SPEAKER_06It was like he released bad. Like the bad album came out, and then like and they only did the one song from it, bad, and then it's like it story continues.
SPEAKER_02So we just kind of covered the first three albums. Are we covering the last three? Are we covering the marriages? Are we covering the kids? Are we covering God?
SPEAKER_06It's like I don't even know if I want to see any of that though. Where it's like, uh, do I care? Uh honestly, just do a feature length, like, how did we make the black and white music video?
SPEAKER_02Like, just that it's all set in like you just want to know how they mold those faces together today to do that at that time period as well.
SPEAKER_06My friend has a good bit, Xavier, where he's like, oh, they actually hired a shapeshifter for that. Like, that's actually an X-Men. Yeah. That's Ben 10. It's like And I'm like, that's actually kind of the only explanation. That shit is flawless. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's like Glee did it.
unknownOh fuck.
SPEAKER_03Glee did it too. Glee can do it, anyone can.
SPEAKER_06There is nothing more terrifying than can you imagine like turning into Will Schuster, like before your very eyes? You're like looking in the mirror and you're like, it's black. And then you're Will Schuster.
SPEAKER_01You had a nightmare about Michael Jackson. I'm having a nightmare about uh Matthew Robinson.
SPEAKER_06Matthew Robinson to Grinch.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_06I genuinely did used to have nightmares about Michael though. I remember I had a nightmare where he was in my front yard. Yeah. And I was like behind like the fly screen door, and I was like, I could see he's in my front yard. It wasn't like much. I wasn't like a very like creative kid, but he was there and I was scared.
SPEAKER_02Michael's looking down going, What did I even do?
SPEAKER_06Well, we know what you did. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Those those allegations are he never got uh actually proved. Is that right?
SPEAKER_06Don't we want to go into this online entertainment podcast?
SPEAKER_02I mean, of course, like when you think about messy celebs, he is one of those celebrities that are just like on the list of like allegations and media and and stress and things that he did, right?
SPEAKER_06What's more than messy? Uh like what like uh you know, like when your parents would be like, this room is a pig style. I feel like Michael's a pig sty celeb. It's not just messy, it's like a tornado blew through here. Oh, definitely. Yeah, I'd say I'd say problematic. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Other than Michael, who is your favorite messy celebrity? Because we've got to put Michael at least a lot of people's favorite messy celebrity, right?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, well, yeah, there's so much like this was actually the first movie in a while that I've heard people talk about in public. Like the other night we were at the tram stop and I heard people talking about like how it's like, yeah, this movie's so long, but apparently it's like got like all the songs like from this album. And I was like, genuinely, people want to be starting something. Like people, people are like really like still into the movie and it made a lot of money. Um I don't know, like, because I don't want to go in on like problematic celebs, so I will say on messy celebs.
SPEAKER_02Messy celebs that have, you know, gone through this type of life that might actually be Britney Spears, you know. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, Britney Spears uh is a perfect example of a messy celebrity who has so much uh rich, I guess, like life and history uh so exploited by the media to the point that she is now who she is. Yeah. Going through those troubles. Michael being another one, who else?
SPEAKER_06Well, you've if you know what's funny is that both of those people have Glee episodes dedicated to them. They do. Yeah. We need to come up with another Madonna.
SPEAKER_03There is an episode of Madonna.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and she's also quite problematic, I think.
SPEAKER_03She is quite problematic. Yeah! What's with Glee and Problematics lips?
SPEAKER_06Well, I think the thing with Glee is that they had access to like, because that was like a Fox show. So they had access to like whenever they did like a music on that, it'd be like Grease or West Side's story, and look into them like, oh yeah, those are Fox movies. Of course, those are the ones they're doing. You know who I think is messy, who I quite like, and I kind of wish we'd make a comeback, is Amanda Bynes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I love her. Hey guys, I've started wearing wigs. No, that's a really good matter. I've started wearing wigs, and then like about a week later, she goes, Hey guys, I've stopped wearing wigs, so just let's let you all know.
SPEAKER_06Honestly, those are the kind of updates that I do want from celebrities. Yeah. Like you're actually kind of using the platform correctly. Yeah. She was only in like, I think like seven movies, and there's only one that I haven't seen. I can't remember what it is, but I've seen almost all of her movies because it's like really limited.
SPEAKER_02The one that's like Snow White and the Seven DeWars in the Colleges, you know. Yeah, that's a great film.
SPEAKER_06Because here's the thing I play a game on my phone called like Cine Nerdle, where the game is it's competitive and you just need to name movies at each other and you need to link them via like Castle Crew. I'm so good at it. But I was truly trying to remember the name of that movie. Is it like Stephanie White or something?
SPEAKER_03Sydney White.
SPEAKER_06Sydney White, thank you. Because I was trying to trap somebody because you can only link one person three times. So it's like if you get the third Amanda Bynes link and they don't know anyone else in that movie, it's like you can win. So I'm like, I was but I couldn't. Remember the name of it, but no, I've seen Sidney White. Um, I've seen uh What a Girl Wants.
SPEAKER_02What a girl, what a girl. She's man, she's the man.
SPEAKER_06Well, that one's like canonical. Everyone's seen that. Yeah, that's like asking if you breathe. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh hairspray.
SPEAKER_06Of course. Do you know what her last movie was?
SPEAKER_03What was it?
SPEAKER_06Easy A. Yeah, she's in that. Oh, she is in that. And she's quite good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I love Stanley Tucci in that film.
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Doesn't everyone say like that's the epitome of like um. What you want to be as a dad, yeah. Yeah, the two parents in the. Where are you from?
SPEAKER_06Where are you from original?
SPEAKER_03Where are you from original? You know who I'm T T T T T T.
SPEAKER_06I know, because she's quite good in that. And also, can I just say I have a friend who quite looks like Amanda Biden, specifically in hairspray? Like every now and then, this specific friend, like, if they have their hair in like pigtails, I'm like, you just look like uh Petty Petty Pingleton.
SPEAKER_02You just need to draw that uh like terrible love heart tattoo, poke stick tattoo she's got in the face as well.
SPEAKER_06We can put makeup on that. Let's get her back in the movies.
SPEAKER_02Do you think she's make do you think that she will ever make a comeback? Because I feel like sometimes she's reached a comeback, yeah, but she hasn't touched it yet.
SPEAKER_06Honestly, I actually like being real, probably she doesn't need that, like in her life. Like from what I've seen, I feel like she doesn't need that sort of stress. It's like um, what's her name? Like Lindsay Lohan. Lindsay Lohan coming back to movies is kind of like I'm trepidatious, where I'm like, I really hope this works out for you. Yeah, yeah, like I really truly do. And like I'd want the same for Amanda Bynes, where I'm like, I really hope this works, but I'm like, I don't know if that's what you need.
SPEAKER_02I did think that Amanda hoped, I would say, uh, did what Lindsay Lohan has done and has kind of like gotten out of the phase but like pokes fun at herself. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because she was in like the Mean Girls remake for like uh like one scene. Yeah, and she was in I haven't seen Freaky or Friday, but she was in it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, is it um maybe I'm thinking it's Hillary Duff, but doing a couple of TV shows?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, oh well the whole thing with Hillary Duff is I think she is doing TV shows, but she wanted to do that Lucy McGuire like reboot. She wanted to bring that back, but then she will act she didn't want it to be dark and gritty or anything, but she was like, This character would be having sex at this point in her life. And I'm like, that is real. Disney's not gonna go for that.
SPEAKER_02No, yeah, she is coming to Melbourne very soon, I'm seeing her at the end of the year.
SPEAKER_06For what?
SPEAKER_02Hillary Duff too, baby.
SPEAKER_06What like just singing? Yeah. Is she gonna do the song for the Lizzie Maguire movie? Hopefully. What dreams are made of?
SPEAKER_02I'm hoping that it starts the show and also ends the show.
SPEAKER_06It would be the best encore of all time. Could you imagine? Yeah, and then she brings out her identical twin. Like who has like but who has like brown hair and is Italian?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm hoping she's bringing all it's the lucky me too or so. Okay. Lucky me, we bring both.
SPEAKER_06Can I be real? I only really knew Hillary Duff as like an acting force. I don't really, I'm not, I don't keep up with her solo work like that.
SPEAKER_02I was invested into the solo work because I would kind of just like dig into the Disney the Disney channel people. I might have on Disney channel.
SPEAKER_06Did you ever watch Disney Channel like when you were growing up? Yeah. Okay, do you remember when they used to just play music videos? Yes. Yeah, so many of those are logically.
SPEAKER_02I loved a music video channel. That's how much I got invested into Michael Jackson. Yeah. So I would just watch music videos.
SPEAKER_06If they had Michael Jackson music videos on the Disney Channel, I probably would have known a lot more songs than I do, but also probably would have terrified a lot more children. I'm glad that they just played Miley Cyrus songs.
SPEAKER_03You in this trope of Michael Jackson is scary!
SPEAKER_06Like, let's be serious.
SPEAKER_02I did look at video We did look at photos of him.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And we were When would he get it? When would he not?
SPEAKER_06He would get it during Thriller. He's hot in Thriller.
SPEAKER_02He would get it during Off the Wall. He'd get it during Bad.
SPEAKER_06I think Off the Wall I would have to say no, actually. I think he's too young. I'm woke like that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, fair. See, I he's getting it in bad for me.
SPEAKER_06Uh bad, I'm like, your hair's a bit too long. I can get talked into it. Thriller is where I'm at. Yeah. And then I'm like, it stops right there.
SPEAKER_02The other three are what is it, history and then a dangerous and then invincible.
SPEAKER_06You know so much more about Michael than I do.
SPEAKER_02Let me tell you, when I am hooking on to something, I'm hooking on.
SPEAKER_06I thought you were gonna say, like, when I'm hooking up, I'm listening to Michael.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_06Listening to an Earth song. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Hear me out, boys.
SPEAKER_06You know what to do. Put on that free willy joint.
SPEAKER_02When human nature came on, I was like, okay, hear me out. Human nature came on. I went, this is gonna be my first dance song at my wedding.
SPEAKER_06Oh, that'd be nice. Yeah. Yeah. It's so fucking funny. Michael, for those who haven't seen it, it's like literally the first sound you hear is like, it's like the universal logo, and then you hear, and it's like, okay. We both started giggling because we knew that it was like also because we're seeing this, we're recording this like two weeks after the movie came out. So it's like we had a completely empty cinema, so we could be, we could laugh at that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I danced out the front.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, we tried to get a video of it, but they put the lights up so late in the credits that it's like you flew, like you.
SPEAKER_03I just like choke the lights up!
SPEAKER_06Yeah, no one.
SPEAKER_03I love you, thank you so much.
SPEAKER_06Because we went to like a morning screening, so the people at the cinema, like, I guarantee, are just like like bored out of their fucking minds.
SPEAKER_02So you guys are the only one in there, we're not.
SPEAKER_06You please leave, we need a clean.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. We actually we have a tight turnaround on this one.
SPEAKER_02I've said I need to go to the bathroom. I was like, can you not turn the movie on yet? I'm not ready. Yeah, yeah. Ready. Um I'm ready for Amanda Bynes to come back.
SPEAKER_06I would like I was originally gonna say Nikki Blonsky also from Hairspray, but I'm like, no, I think she's actually problematic in like a racist way.
SPEAKER_02She is also crazy.
SPEAKER_06The lore of her It's like her family is like, she's like, Yeah.
SPEAKER_02She also has been doing a lot of uh the cameo videos. Yes, yes. Hey guys, it's Nikki Blonsky from Hairspray. Yeah, and this whole thing, I love the deep dive of when she was in Hairspray doing all of the promo shots, and she's like gripping onto Zach Efron. She is like, he really loves me. We got together, and everyone's like, no, you can literally see his face like he puts it.
SPEAKER_06Zach Efron's like looking off, thinking about like the script for high school musical three senior year.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02And they never talk anymore, but she is like gripping onto that. She's probably one of my I think fave Messi celebs at the moment.
SPEAKER_06But like I feel like I read something that she's like genuinely like racist in a violent way, like a man was attacked or something.
SPEAKER_02So I'm like, so I'm like, yeah, that's why I was like I like I like Messi as in Amanda Bynes. Amanda Bines. But I I will have to say that I think being a YouTube kid, oh no, I'm such a YouTube kid, and I growing up, I was so invested into like the lore of YouTubers. Like it is crazy how to get it.
SPEAKER_05So worried about who you're gonna say.
SPEAKER_02So what I find myself in, and I'm more than happy to expose myself because exposure therapy gets better about moving on with your issues, is that I have enjoyed beauty YouTubers.
SPEAKER_06Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01And I have really Who did you think I was gonna say?
SPEAKER_06I really relax. I thought you were gonna be like um Ray William Johnson or something like that. Yeah, no. Or like, oh, I'm a PewDiePie. I was like, No. This could go so many ways. I was so worried.
SPEAKER_02PewDiePie, PewDiePie, I I will admit I am venturing into his like family lifestyle videos where he's living in Japan with his kids. Yeah, I don't know. It's all super eclectic, and I'm like, rockin'. Uh I don't know, like aesthetic filming purposes, that's why I think I watch it. It's like why I watch like Casey Neistat.
SPEAKER_06You were gonna say Casey Neistat. I feel like he's also problematic. I've heard things about him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think that he has had ups and downs with a few people, yeah.
SPEAKER_06He was a huge inspiration for my brother, like with all of his vlogs. I remember he like showed me one where it's like I got a new pair of sunglasses and then I spray painted them and scratched the paint off, and I'm like, okay, so you're an arsehole. Like, all right.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes. He is a bit like middle finger to the world.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I I also eat it up because he does a lot of videos where I'm like, oh, I just love that cinematography and ideas. I think the same for PewDiePie. I could go on. Okay. I could go on about it. Honestly, every type of YouTuber now just makes like these aesthetically pleasing vlogs that I just like.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I'm like, everyone got access to really good cameras and editing equipment and Emma Chamberlain, another one. The actor?
SPEAKER_02Uh she is a model. Oh. Emma Chamberlain, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Fill me on on Emma Chamberlain.
SPEAKER_02She is a fashion girly who just kind of grew up around uh, well, I guess YouTube kind of culture and has now become like a full model, works with Vogue. And she makes some Unreal vlogs as well. She's got this gorgeous home. She was actually a part of one of my messy celebs that I watch. James Charles.
SPEAKER_06Oh, you uh you're a sister?
SPEAKER_02I'm not a I'm not a sister, but you know, when I'm eating my dinner, I do want to see dollar makeup up against $1,000 makeup.
SPEAKER_06Okay. I'll watch it then. See, the thing about James Charles is like when that whole thing went down, I'd never heard of any of these people, but it was so seismic that it like reached me, and I was like, well, I need to get invested in this to a degree.
SPEAKER_02I was so invested into him, uh, Jeffree Starr, another screen.
SPEAKER_05I I've known people who are Jeffree Star people, yes.
SPEAKER_02But once again, you know, I guess it brings it back to this thing. Can you separate the person to their product? Once again, with Michael, can you separate the man to the music? Like, can you do that? For me, with Jeffree Star, it's like the makeup is like so good. The makeup he creates is so good. And then it's like, can you separate his problematic stuff? But I also love how real he is because if a product is shit, he's telling you about it. So I am watching products that hate me. Yes, click, great. Jeffrey, tell me what product people hate you.
SPEAKER_06I'm watching Epic Rap Battles of History.
SPEAKER_02I'm watching Epic Rap Battles of History!
SPEAKER_06Unproblematic folks.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I'm watching all of the hot ones.
SPEAKER_06I'm watching all of the I had a okay, I've had an idea for like a decade where I'm like, if you got the rights to put the epic rap battles of history like songs onto like vinyl singles, where it's like you like you release, it's like each one, it's like it's a seven-inch, you get two of them. So it's like one side, like like one side of the cover is like the thumbnail of one of them, and then you get another one. I'm like, that would actually sell gangbusters, especially if you combine some of the higher like epic rap battles. Sorry, I'm hearing about favorites. Well, Steve Jobs versus Bill Gates is kind of like undeniable. You know what I really shoot for is the Thomas Jefferson versus um Frederick Douglass. That's a fun one. Um but like if you just pair these up with like some of the lower ones, then it's like, well, you're gonna move the product. If you just put like some of the like lower tier epic rap battles together, no one's going in for that.
SPEAKER_02No one's going in for that. Yeah. YouTube stars have always had this kind of messy surrounding thing around, well, like I guess culture around them because I feel like they are like people wanting to be celebrities so bad they'll do anything for it. Yeah. And so they are making content that is so like mind-boggling or like, how did you do that? Like, I'm thinking of like the Jake Paul's. Or Mr. Beasts. Mr. Beasts. I'm thinking of those people. And because it's so ingrained into, I guess, like Gen Z culture now to watch so much internet video like myself. Uh people these days might not even realize that it's been going on for a while. You know, people go like all this crazy stuff. It's like, yeah, but these people used to do that. You guys person used to do that.
SPEAKER_06You guys don't even remember when it used to be Katy Perry Vivo. Yeah. Instead of just Katie Perry. You guys don't remember that.
SPEAKER_02You guys don't remember that. You guys don't remember the crazy stuff that happened with Michael or with Britney or with We say that like we weren't nine when Michael died.
SPEAKER_06Like what?
SPEAKER_02Well, if you ask a kid who's nine now, they got no idea who that person is.
SPEAKER_06Oh wait, they're probably living a better nine-year-old life than I was. I was so weighed down with the fear.
SPEAKER_03So weighed down with the fear.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I was like, I was a nervous kid as well, in the sense that I always thought that like there was gonna be like a volcano, like a super volcano was gonna go off at any moment, and we'd be surrounded by lava, or there'd be like a giant wave or something that would just crash upon us at any given moment. I was like always worried about that. So like Michael was just another natural disaster that I was like scared of. Human nature, human nature.
SPEAKER_00I love human nature, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Human natural disaster.
SPEAKER_00Human natural disaster.
SPEAKER_06That should be the next one, Michael's human natural disaster. Yeah. Yeah, Michael's with the dollar sign. Yeah, at the end.
SPEAKER_01Money, money, money, buddy.
SPEAKER_06It made so much fucking money. Did it? Yeah, well, okay, so we're recording this when Devil Wears Prada 2 just came out. So that's gonna take like all the screens. That one people think is also gonna make a lot of money. Yes. Don't know yet. Um, but Michael made a lot. It's probably really front-loaded. It might fall off. It might not. It might get like a Bohemian Rhapsody or Star is born like like long legs, people go and see it and like sing along. I think in America it's really popping off. Of course. Yeah. Do you know okay? This is so off topic. You know the movie Twisters? Yes, I saw that in the cinema. I saw that in the cinema too. Good movie. Did you know that that did terribly everywhere except America? America, it did gangbusters everywhere else. No one really saw it.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it gave that like yay hello! Exactly. Exactly, exactly. I was watching it being like, well, I'm from the country and I saw it in the country too.
SPEAKER_06So you saw it projected on a cow or something in my friend's paddock.
SPEAKER_02Uh and so I'm looking and it was set the scene because I'm looking around going, this is gonna happen to us. The other day I saw a tornado in one of the uh like a wind turbine. Well, no, what happens when the wind picks up? It wasn't really a twister, but like the wind did a big swirly whirly.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I I think swirly whirly would be the best term for it. I remember when okay.
SPEAKER_03And I was like, I've seen the movie already.
SPEAKER_06The first big word that I learned was meteorologist, because we're like swirly whirly.
SPEAKER_03Oh no.
SPEAKER_06Because when I was a kid, we went to like a family friends party and I would have been like four or something, and the movie Twister was on TV, like the original, and I was like enamored with it, and I wanted to be a storm chaser card.
SPEAKER_02Wait, was that Twister and then Twisters, just like Michael and Michaels?
SPEAKER_06Yes, but also I was thinking of alien and aliens. I forgot about Twister and Twisters. Yeah. Um, but it like sparked something in me where I'm like, I want to be a storm chaser. What's the word for that? And I asked my parents, and they're like, Oh, I guess a meteorologist, and I'm like, I learned that. And then when people would ask what I want to be, I'd be like, meteorologist. And that makes me sound so much smarter than I want to be in a car chasing after a tornado.
SPEAKER_02I was so silly when I was younger. I remember someone telling me I should be a meteorologist. Oh, yeah. Because I really liked the idea of presenting and like doing stuff, and they were like, Oh, like maybe you can present the weather.
SPEAKER_06We should be meteorologists. We should be.
SPEAKER_02Except I was confused as a young girl, and I thought they meant meant media. No, I thought like media is in like entertainment. So I would go around saying I want to be a meteorologist and I just want to learn about media and do media. Like a like like a host and a journalist, I'm a meteorologist. And someone, and I would go, yeah, like I'm gonna like present on the TV and do radio and I'm gonna like paint and I'm gonna do all this, and they're like paint about the weather.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. When you get to paint, then you're like, huh, wait.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I went around to so many people saying that.
SPEAKER_06That's crazy that we both have meteorologists things like that. That's great.
SPEAKER_02How old were you? Uh I was in primary school. I'm gonna put my I remember a teacher going, what?
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna put my teacher hat on for a moment and say that's really smart, actually. That you heard that word and you made the connection to media. That's really smart. It's not correct, but it's smart.
SPEAKER_02Thank you.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Thank you. To this day, I want to be Jane Bunn. Can you imagine? Yeah, I can't actually, yeah. Just over here, well, cold. Yeah. Just over here.
SPEAKER_06Not so cold.
SPEAKER_02Not so cold. Light jacket over here, hot. Over here, pointing at myself, hot.
SPEAKER_06What if have you seen those memes where it's like throw your hair into a messy bun and get it done or something like that? Where it's like when you're having one of those days, you gotta throw your hair into a messy bun and get it done. Yeah, it's like throw your hair into a Jane bun.
SPEAKER_02Throw your hair into a Michael Jackson ponytail.
SPEAKER_06Throw your hand to a Michael Jackson Pepsi commercial.
SPEAKER_02No, you wouldn't. No, you wouldn't.
SPEAKER_06He was making the noises that Jafar made in that scene were a little funny.
SPEAKER_02I I I did that thing where I'm sitting in the movie and I'm like, do I look at him? No, I don't want to know if he's laughing because I'm kind of like upset and I don't want to pull out of the upsetness because I want to feel something here. But I did do the quick like side eye and I'm like, yeah, he's smiling.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, I just thought I kind of wanted to record it. I was like, this is kind of funny. I don't know, because like again, I think we're both very good theater goers. Because even when we had the theater to ourselves, after like two minutes, we were like dead silent. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because I did say on the tram, I said, Did you think I was gonna sing?
SPEAKER_06I did. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Were you were you like, oh fucking, here we go.
SPEAKER_06When when it was like an empty cinema, I was like, now she has license to do this if she wants.
SPEAKER_02You said to me, Do you want me to film you when he does the moon walk so I can get up? But I was like, no, I was locked in.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and that was a good scene, too. Yeah, what's a good scene? Because here's the thing with nuance about the Michael movie, the parts that I did like were that the songs were played loud. And I was like, listen, if if nothing else, I like Billie Jean. So sue me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Billy Jean is the one for you. What is your favourite Michael song?
SPEAKER_06That's a great question. I think Thriller.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I love Thriller. I like scary things. Thriller's like really formative for me. Um, do you have a favorite?
SPEAKER_02Right now, because I feel like it does circulate, and I have said this off the pot a lot. Blood on the dance floor.
SPEAKER_06Yes, you can say.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god! Like it's an underground Michael. Something about underground Michael that people don't just know about. Like, it's like spinning the off-the-wall record that I've got, and I'm singing along to the songs that are like one, seven, and ten.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, compared to all the others. In the movie when they had off the wall, they only played Don't Stop Two You Get Enough. A lot. And yeah, a lot. You know what they played a lot was um They didn't play Off the Wall. When you live in the Wall, they had some weird choices with this because then they also played some like early like Jackson 5 songs, like well when he's into like making thriller. Like they played Ben at one point, and I'm like, but he made Ben like 20 years ago.
SPEAKER_02Isn't Ben about a mouse? Uh the rat that he was lying on the bed with.
SPEAKER_06I thought it was from a movie, so I I could be dead wrong in this. I thought there was a movie that Ben was a song for that was about a mouse that was like friends with a kid.
SPEAKER_02See, I thought that he wrote that song about his pet, and then it made a lot of sense that he had so many pets and that he wouldn't sing about uh, I guess, like a friend or anything like that, because he could only talk about pets because that's all he had. And then when he got older, I was I was wondering that when he got older, he started singing a lot about girls, and I'm like, when did that happen? Is that what we're gonna say in part two?
SPEAKER_06Like he doth protest too much. He's like, no, I really like girls.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like he is sang some hot songs that I'm like, that's a bad woman, girl.
SPEAKER_06As like you mentioned with underground Michael songs, I do genuinely really love the song that he did for Free Willy, which is Will You Be There. I'm like, that's actually genuinely like that's really swiped on. I'm serious, yeah. Like, and then he did what are some other songs of his that I like? I do enjoy um Earth's song quite a bit. Yeah, although do you ever see Adam's Family Values?
SPEAKER_02Um, probably ages ago.
SPEAKER_06Okay, there's one scene in that where they go, like, there's like a summer camp that they're part of, and like one of the kids at the summer camp who's played by David Crumholtz, who's from the Santa Claus. Anyway, um, he is like gets sent to this like bad behavior like cabin. It's like where you go to like think about what you've done, and there's like a poster of Michael Jackson with this like a heal the world poster, like from around that period. So it's like the world with like a band-aid on it, and it's got Michael, and the character in the movie is scared of him, and he like starts screaming. And I remember seeing that and feeling very validated. But also, that's what I do associate with Earth Song. So that's how it came up. Sorry. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh other songs, I mean, I love the ones that do find themselves in like bits of movies where I'm like, Michael, yeah, what are you doing here? Like Man in the Mirror, used in so many Lego Batman 2.
SPEAKER_06Lego Batman movie, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Lego Batman movie.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. You know what I love? Um, have you seen Back to the Future 2?
SPEAKER_03Probably, yeah.
SPEAKER_06There's a great bit. It's like actually might might be the only movie I know that's used Beat It. Because Beat It is like really popular, and so it probably costs so much fucking money. But there's a scene in that where they're in 2015 and they go to like a retro cafe that's meant to be in the 80s, like cafe 80s, and they're playing Beat It in that. And there's a specific shot where like the bad guy Biff stands up and he's way taller than you'd think he'd be, and it's like from over the shoulder of him, and like Beat It is playing in the background. And every time I listen to Beat It, I'm just thinking about how tall Biff is. You just keep gallowing it going. Yeah, it's like like even Michael J. Fox like peeking over, like, he's really big. Beat it, beat it, beat it, and like Ronald Reagan's there, you should watch Back to the Future 2. It's pretty fun.
SPEAKER_02I will. Yeah. Another trope of Michael music that I've enjoyed is this is super, super niche. And please, if anyone has listened to this album, please text me because I can't be the only one that has deep dive this far. But on Spotify and probably other streaming platforms, you can find the Circus to La Circus Dole.
SPEAKER_06Oh, Cirque du Soleil.
SPEAKER_02Circus Dole. Yeah. Immortal tour Michael Jackson. They did a tour of Michael Jackson songs to Circus stuff.
SPEAKER_06Is it just from that album or is it like a bunch of other Michael tracks?
SPEAKER_02A bunch of other Michael tracks. They pushed them together. Yeah. The Immortal album, they have done unreal like remixes to it. Yeah. Listen to that album because the songs are just like epic.
SPEAKER_06Can I give you a bit of context for that? I think that would have come after Cirque du Soleil uh Cirque du Soleil. Circle Soleil. Uh did a Beatles version of that called The Beatles Love. And that had George Martin and his son Giles Martin, who were like George Martin was like the producer for the Beatles, and now Giles Martin is like doing the production of the songs on the upcoming biopics. Um, they did remixes of like all the Beatles like back catalogue, like blending all these songs together for Circle Soleil. So I feel like the Michael thing would have come off the heels of that. Yeah. That's really interesting. I didn't realize there was a Michael one of that. Because I love Beatles Love, it's amazing.
SPEAKER_02If you go through the disography of well, yes, maybe the Beatles would be on Spotify, but also Michael, find the immortal, it's it's the blue cover with Michael on it. Yeah. Listen to that thing, start to finish.
SPEAKER_03I think I will.
SPEAKER_02And they had a beautiful storyline about this boy going through life. And so when you're listening to the music, you can kind of see how they have like structured the songs to be like the boy waking up, going through his day, going through like a scary patch. That's cool. Going through. Yeah, I'm gonna play it in the car for you later. We should do that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, see, with the Beatles Love, I don't know if there's much of a story because I I haven't seen it because it was like around like 2006 that they did it, and I don't think they really recorded it or did like a pro shot. But it's like when you listen to it, it really is like, I guess vaguely from like early Beatles to Late Beatles, but like they do still like throw in like a 1969 track around the 1963 era now and then. It's uh you should listen to that as well.
SPEAKER_02Well, maybe that's our suggestions.
SPEAKER_06That's our suggestions, yeah.
SPEAKER_02For uh the oh so glad you asked music portion of it all. I would say Immortal. I would say looking into the Beatles one for yourself. Uh well what movie would you like to be?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, what movies what movies would you recommend?
SPEAKER_02Um, I would recommend going to see This Is It, the uh Whoa! This is it, the Michael Doko that my Nan and I saw in the cinemas uh just after he passed.
SPEAKER_06That was a big deal. I remember that was a huge deal. Because this is it. I remember that track as well, and I don't hate that song. I think that's pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Good song.
SPEAKER_06Yes.
SPEAKER_02Good song. So I would go watch that, and then of course I would go see the Michael film. Okay, well I I would say watch both because I I love the context and I love the the more depth I've got about Michael that I could kind of like pick together what I saw from the film to what I already know. Yeah. But I think that's why they gave a lot of context to the film. Because like if you know nothing, if you're not like this is really like who's Michael, this movie's for you. Yes, yes, when we know we're friends. Well, you're not friends with him, I'm friends with you.
SPEAKER_06He's like the most famous person who ever lived. It's like, who is this for? Everyone knows who Michael Jackson is. The nine-year-olds have no idea. I will say I sadly will not recommend Michael. I did not, I don't think I liked it as much as you did, and that's fine. Yeah. I don't know what I would recommend though.
SPEAKER_02Like I recommend this is it too.
SPEAKER_06This is it too?
SPEAKER_03This is it too.
SPEAKER_06Wait this time for seriously, it's it. Yeah. Um, I don't know what I recommend. Back to the Future too. Watch the scene in the Cafe 80s with Beater. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03With Biff.
SPEAKER_06He's so big. There's like a there's like a rubber stretching sound as he gets taller. It's like he's like, Oh, it's so fucking cool.

SPEAKER_02Uh, just my YouTubers, you know. I'm getting that I'm getting that lore. I just I like it because it's like it's why people watch MAFs. They just love the drama of it, and I love it too.
SPEAKER_06MAFs is, if nothing else, compelling. It's a resting television.
SPEAKER_02We should put a pin in that and come back to MAFs.
SPEAKER_06Just reality TV. Let's talk about reality TV because actually, yeah, there would be a lot there.

SPEAKER_06I'm so glad you asked me to go on this excursion to go see Michael.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I loved it at Alido, it was lovely.
SPEAKER_06The Lido, we we loved Alido. I got married at Alido. I will say I used Alito like comp because I was meant to go see the drama like a month ago, and I had to cancel, so I got a comp. So I used that C Michael, so I didn't spend any money for it, and that makes me feel morally good.
SPEAKER_02Once again, Lido, just giving you a shout out. Why doesn't Tom get free movies for life he got married there? I'm so glad I asked.
SPEAKER_06I I am gonna be also I'm doing a birthday at the Lido where we're gonna be watching the Steven Spielberg Westside story, and Kayla has offered to do a QA with me because I'm gonna be talking beforehand.
