While the corporate media chased royal visits and partisan drama, they completely ignored one of the most important diplomatic developments in the Ukraine conflict in years.

In this hard-hitting episode of The Right Side, Doug Billings delivers the behind-the-scenes conservative analysis you won’t hear anywhere else.

After a direct one-and-a-half-hour phone call, American leadership and Vladimir Putin reached a joint assessment that the Kiev regime under Zelenskyy has strong incentives to prolong the war as long as American taxpayers keep sending blank checks. The result? Russia has now declared a unilateral Victory Day ceasefire for May 8th and 9th — timed to the 81st anniversary of Russia’s most important national holiday commemorating victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

Doug breaks down exactly what this means: the end of the blank-check era, the cracking of the old postwar order, and the return of clear-eyed America First diplomacy that puts American families, American security, and American interests first.

You’ll get the historical perspective on proxy wars, why the incentives in Kiev and Europe have been to keep the conflict going, and the hopeful reality that America is finally resetting the table on our terms — bringing lower costs, stronger security, and real possibility of peace.

This is proud conservatism at its best: honest about the facts, unapologetic about putting America First, and optimistic about the future.

If you want analysis the mainstream media refuses to give you, this is the episode for you.

The Right Side with Doug Billings. Hello, America. Hello, world. Welcome to this special edition of The Right Side. I'm Doug Billings. Thank you for being with me. Like, subscribe, share out the program. It helps the algorithm discover it, and it gets it in front of more people. While the corporate media spent last week chasing royal visits and courtroom drama and so forth, and every other shining distraction that they could find, something historic quietly happened behind the scenes. And it's a major step towards peace in Ukraine that could finally begin to end the blank check era that has cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars. And I'll bet you a nickel until today, none of you heard about it. So, ladies and gentlemen, I'm talking about the direct one and a half hour phone call between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin last week that was followed by the Kremlin's confirmation of a Victory Day ceasefire and the framework uh surrounding it. Russia has now formally declared a unilateral ceasefire for May 8th and 9th to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory Day. All right, for those of you in Raytown, Missouri, Victory Day is the Russian uh it's their most important national holiday. It's celebrated every year on May 9th. It commemorates the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, what the Russians refer to as the Great Patriotic War. And it's the equivalent of our Victory in Europe Day, VE Day here in the United States. But it's observed on May 9th because that's when the final German surrender was signed in Berlin in 1945. So every year the Russians hold massive military parades. You've seen them in Red Square. Never mind that a lot of their military equipment is made out of paper mache. Another story for another time. And they honor their veterans, they treat it like a day of enormous national pride, which it is for them, and it's a day of remembrance. Okay, so that's why the Kremlin specifically timed this, this unilateral ceasefire for May 8th and 9th, okay, this year. So it's going to coincide with the 81st anniversary of Victory Day. It's good news all the way around, and it's news that the mainstream media has tried to bury. Both sides now share great solidarity of opinion about what's going on over there. So, and I mean the United States and Russia. And to quote them, they said they're broadly similar assessments of why this war has dragged on and on for so long. There's a Russian spokesperson, Yuri Yushakov, who stated it very plainly after the call took place last week. Uh he said that the Kiev regime that is led by Vladimir Zelensky, as you all know, has pursued, quote, a policy of prolonging the conflict encouraged by European countries and with their support, end quote. So look, my friends, that single sentence is seismic. And it means the two most powerful players in this conflict, the United States and Russia, have looked at the same facts on the ground and reached the same conclusion. The incentives in Kiev and across key European capitals are not to end the fighting. They're to keep the money, the weapons, and the attention flowing. You think about that. For years, we've watched Europe and NATO treat the United States like an unlimited ATM, haven't we? American families, meanwhile, have footed a$400 billion a year bill to underwrite European security, while the Commune Socialist, formerly known as the Democrat Party in America, with their policies on borders and so forth, uh destroyed us. And they tried to hollow us out. This ceasefire signal changes that equation. And it shows serious players are finally acknowledging the obvious. The incentives so far have been to drag this out, not to resolve it. This is not, you know, it's not some vague wish list item either. It's it's the result of clear-eyed American diplomacy putting the interests of you first again. So the old post-war model where America was expected to be the world's permanent police officer and banker is cracking. It's breaking. And it's not a crisis. This is a long-overdue correction in this country and in the world. So if we were to put it in historical perspective, uh, you'd understand exactly what's happening here. Proxy wars are as old as the great power competition itself. From Vietnam to Afghanistan, outside powers have watched smaller conflicts drag on and on because the people actually fighting had very little incentive to stop, while outsiders kept writing blank checks. The United States learned it in Vietnam when political considerations in Washington overrode battlefield experts and realities. And I'm telling you, history shows that when outside powers finally step back and force the direct parties to face real costs, wars end faster. And they end faster than the so-called experts ever predict. That's exactly what's beginning to happen right now. By refusing to be the unlimited financier of other nations' ambitions, the Trump administration is doing what it has always done best when it acts with clarity. It's changing the game on terms that favor us, our people, our security, and our future. Ladies and gentlemen, think about what this means for you, you know, sitting at home in Kansas City, Missouri, or anywhere across the country. Every day this conflict drags on costs American taxpayers billions of dollars more in direct aid. And it translates into higher energy prices, strained supply chains. I could go on. Ending this blank check era brings those costs down. It frees up resources to rebuild our own manufacturing base and to secure our borders. And it helps to modernize our military for the challenges that actually matter to American security, not the security of nations that lecture us while they depend on us. So this ceasefire signal, I want to be clear, it's not a surrender, it is realism. And it's the recognition that the incentives in Kiev and parts of Europe, to be honest, have been to prolong the war as long as the money keeps flowing from the United States. American leadership is forcing an honest conversation instead of the scripted talking points that we've heard on cable news and from certain people online for years. The corporate media, of course, they've treated this like a minor footnote. I mean, if they've covered it at all. They'd rather focus on royal pomp and circumstance and partisan scandals than to admit American strength and clear-eyed diplomacy are once again moving the world towards peace on our terms. Look, my friends, this is proud conservatism in action. Liberalism creates the opposite. Proud conservatism, when it's put in action, creates honest assessments of the facts. It has a refusal to accept the media narrative and an unwavering focus on what's best for American families. The old order, that old globalist order that treated United States taxpayers as an open wallet is crumbling right in front of us. And out of that collapse comes the opportunity for real peace, real prosperity, and real strength. America is resetting the table. And if you saw my show from yesterday, you heard me say America is in a renaissance, and we are. We're no longer willing to subsidize endless conflict while our own people pay the price. Uh-uh. And when American leadership demands reciprocity and puts our interests first, the entire world order begins to realign in ways that benefit us. And part of the good news is this is just the beginning. The same clear-eyed approach that produced this ceasefire signal is already rippling into other hot spots around the world. The days of America being the world's doormat are over, friends. A stronger, more self-reliant, and more respected America is rising. And that's the best news that you have heard in years.
