Most people believe they're in control of their decisions, habits, and standards. But what if they're being shaped by something they rarely stop to examine?
Every conversation, every environment, every relationship, and every piece of content you consume is teaching you what to tolerate, what to pursue, and who to become.
In this episode, Martin Perdomo explores the hidden influence of your environment and why disciplined men are intentional about what they allow into their world. If you've ever wondered why your focus, standards, or motivation seem to drift, the answer may be closer than you think.
The question isn't whether your environment is shaping you.
The question is: what is it shaping you into?

Whether you realize it or not, your environment is training you. Today we're going to be talking about your and how your environment is training you. Every room you spend time in, every conversation you tolerate,
Your Environment Is Training You
every piece of content you consume, every person around you, all of it is shaping you. Most men think environment is passive. It is not. Your environment is instructional. It teaches you what is normal, what's acceptable, what to pursue, what to tolerate. And if you stay in the wrong environment long enough, you slowly become aligned with it. Imagine if you had beautiful dreadlocks and you spend time in front of a barber shop every single day. Eventually, you're gonna get a haircut. Look around at modern culture. Distraction is normal. Weakness is normal. Excuses are normal. Emotional inconsistency
When Culture Makes Weakness Normal
is normal. Financial chaos is normal. And because those things are normal, most men stop questioning them. That's the danger of the environment. You adapt to it quietly. I remember my dad telling me once, may he rest in peace. He said to me, son, human beings, I don't remember what the context was. We were having a conversation about something, and it was something that was going to make me really uncomfortable and
A Lesson On Human Adaptation
I didn't like it. And my dad, he gave me, you know, I didn't spend a lot of time with my dad, but the time that I did spend with my dad as an adult, I have a lot of golden nuggets that my dad gave me. And he said to me, son, human beings, we adapt to everything. We adapt to all circumstances. I think I was in a big fight with my wife, and at the time it was we were on the rocks really bad. And it was one of those times in almost 25 years of marriage today that our marriage was challenged. And my dad said, son, you will adapt. Human beings adapt to everything. A man can spend years wondering why his thinking feels scattered, why his discipline keeps collapsing, why his standards keep drifting, without realizing he is being trained every day by what surrounds him. Environment shapes identity faster than motivation ever will. This is why serious men become intentional about who they spend time with, what
Identity Beats Motivation Every Time
they listen to, what enters their mind, what enters their home. A sovereign man protects his environment because he understands something simple. What repeatedly enters his mind eventually enters his behavior. That applies everywhere. Business, money, health, marriage, leadership. And if your environment rewards distraction, you will struggle to focus. If your environment normalizes excuses, you will eventually justify weakness. If your environment lacks standards, your standard will slowly erode. And the erosion is subtle. That's what makes it dangerous. Most men don't collapse dramatically, they drift gradually. One compromise at a time, one distraction at a time, one tolerated behavior at a time, until eventually they no longer recognize themselves. This is why disciplined men audit their environment regularly, not just their goals, their environment and everything around them. What
Audit Your Inputs And Your Circle
conversations dominate your life? What content dominates your attention? What people influence your standards? These questions matter more than most people realize. Because your environment is either reinforcing your standard or weakening them. There is no neutral ground. And this is especially important for men trying to build authority and freedom because freedom requires sustained clarity. And clarity is difficult inside chaotic environments. A distracted environment creates distracted thinking. A reactive environment creates reactive behavior. A low standard environment creates low standard outcomes. This is why sovereign men create structure intentionally, clean spaces, focused work environments, clear routines, strong boundaries. Not because aesthetics matter, because environments shape our behavior. The strongest men are often the most protective of what enters their world. Their attention, their energy, their inputs, their circles. That, my friends, is not isolation. That is discipline. And over time, something powerful happens. Your environment begins reinforcing your identity instead of fighting against it. Discipline becomes easier. Focus becomes cleaner. Standards become more natural. Not because you changed overnight, but because the environment stopped pulling you backwards. So here's the question. What in your environment is currently training you in the wrong direction a conversation, a habit, a

room, a media diet, a relationship. Some of you young men are in relationships that you shouldn't be in. Some of you young men and men are in relationships and friendships that are not healthy for you and go in total contradiction of your goals and your standards. Identify it honestly, then tighten the standard. Because whether you realize it or not, your environment is shaping the men you are becoming. This is wealthy AF, authority, freedom, standards. And disciplined men understand that environment is never neutral.
