Man, I wish I could turn back the hands of time. Oh, I wish I could go back to the good old days. Oh, back when I was young, back when I was a spring chicken, back when I had lots of energy, and oh man, my looks and I had a full head of hair. Let me tell you something, my friend. Stop thinking like that. Stop going backwards to the good old days and what used to be. It's not about what it used to be. It's not about the has been, it's not about the good old days. Let me tell you, sometimes that can get you stuck. And you'll be looking back forever thinking about the good old days. But what if you created some good new days? Some good new times. You know, I had to learn this really, really uh valuable lesson. We've got three amazing kids, and they love us to death, right? They just won't even leave the house. I mean, they they they just won't leave the nest. Just just staying with us, man, you know, and and my wife loves it because our kids love us so much. They don't want to leave. And that's a good thing. But one of the things that my kids told us, me and my wife, was, you know, mom, you know, dad, we mean no disrespect, but we get so tired of hearing about the good old days and the car you used to have and the furniture you used to have and the things you used to do. They said, listen, why not create new days? Why don't you take the rest of the time that you have left and create new memories? And I thought about that, right? I'm like, you know what? They're right. All we kept doing was pulling out the old pictures and the old dances and the old clubs and the old trips. My kids were like, man, listen, we want to create some memories now. We want to create some new memories. We want to go to some new places. Why don't you get that new cars for us so that we can talk about the good new days instead of the good old days? My friend, I'm here to tell you you are better than you used to be. Oh, yeah, this is gonna really freak some of you out. You are better than you used to be. Yeah, you are wiser now. You are smarter now than you've ever been. You have more knowledge than you've ever had. They didn't have phones for a lot of you when you were growing up. They didn't have cell phones, they didn't have the internet, they didn't have social media, they didn't have Chat GPT. You couldn't just lay on the couch or the bed and make money. They didn't have all of this Ubers and self-driving technology. Now listen, we had our days, right? Drinking out of the fire, hydrant, driving around in those uh big wheels and and and trains, and you know, and those were good days for that particular time and period. But I got tired of talking about the good old days. I got I've got tired of just talking about what used to be. And I start saying to myself, CJ, you are better today than you've ever been. You are better than you used to be. You know, sometimes you actually think you're hot when you're young, and you're just looking goofy in those goofy wild hairstyles in the 80s and 90s. And let me tell you, many of you are better looking today than you've ever been. Yeah. And your next three years are probably going to be the greatest years of your life. Man, you've got so much technology, you've got so much, you know, the beds are better, the you know, in some ways the cars are better, right? They get better fuel efficiency, better gas mileage, they last longer. But they say, oh no, no, no. Back in my day, cars lasted longer. Well, they were made heavier and thicker and had more steel and all of that, but in actuality, we didn't have airbags, we didn't have all the electronic locks, and and the air condition took forever, and sometimes you had to pat that the gas accelerator four or five times before it would start with that old carburetor. Man, today we've got all kinds of things that are better today. The the the air condition is better today, right? When I was a kid, we just had old fans. You know, just some old fans. And back when my I was a kid, uh I mean, way back then, man, we had to turn the picture on or the channel with a pair of pliers. And everything was analog. It was not digital. And if we missed the show, we just missed a show. So, what makes you think that things were better back then? It's just something that people say. You're living in the best era that you've ever lived in. You're living the best life you could possibly live in. You're going to the store and swiping with a card within milliseconds instead of counting out cash and change. Now, don't get me wrong. I still love me some good old cash every once in a while. But I'm telling you, man, you could make money from the bed, and then you could turn around and do like my wife. Spend money from the bed. The other day we had our groceries delivered again to the front door. Groceries to the front door with a swipe of an app, and somebody will come and deliver them to you for a little charge. I'm telling you, my friend, you are better than you've ever been. You are better than you used to be. You are better. You're in better circumstances, better opportunities. You have more information these days. You don't carry around a newspaper and a big old briefcase and a flashlight and a magnet and a so- Nope. All of that stuff is in your phone. They say that your cell phones today are better and smarter than the technology they used to go to the moon 50 plus years ago. Yeah, your cell phone. So you've got a thousand apps that you probably have on your phone, and there's so many things and recipes within a second. You even have a flashlight on your phone. You got notepads on your phone. My friend, they have so much going for you today, and I will tell you one more time you are better than you used to be. And your next three years could be the greatest of your life. But you gotta stop talking that old me talk, and that old used to be talk. No, today is your greatest days.
