Shake It Off: When the Attack Doesn’t Get the Last Word

James Douglas

After surviving a violent storm, Paul is bitten by a viper—an attack that should have ended everything. Instead of panicking, explaining, or fighting back, Paul simply shakes it off and keeps moving forward. In this episode from Acts 28:3–10, we explore how the enemy often attacks after the storm, why he doesn’t play fair, and how trust in Jesus empowers us to respond differently. Some things require time and healing—but other things must be shaken off: guilt, condemnation, past moments, offenses, and expectations that others believe will destroy your faith. When you learn to shake off what destroys others, God can turn pain into purpose and make your life a testimony of His grace. What would it look like to level up your trust in Jesus and let go of what no longer belongs on you?
