KS 403 - DIVINE ENTREPRENEURSHIP: FAITH-DRIVEN SUCCESS
What if your faith could guide you to financial freedom and professional success? Join me, Tyler McHart, as I explore the powerful intersection between spirituality and entrepreneurship in my life. Raised on a foundation of strong Christian values and a firsthand look at my parents' entrepreneurial endeavors, I share my journey from a childhood shaped by my father’s construction business and my mother's boutique to discovering my calling in the business world. This episode uncovers how my spiritual journey and early commitment to faith have been instrumental in shaping my professional aspirations and achieving financial independence.
Listen as I recount the unexpected twists and divine interventions that led me to Coastal Carolina University and guided my transformation from a psychology student to a business-minded believer eager to integrate faith with commerce. With insights from my personal experiences, I highlight the importance of being receptive to divine guidance and nurturing a relationship with the Holy Spirit in the pursuit of financial freedom. This conversation serves as both an inspiration and a reminder that success is not just about financial gain, but also staying true to one’s beliefs and potential for spiritual growth.

Speaker 2:What's going on? Success, edge, success Edge. Listen to me. What's going on? It's the King of Success. This is Tyler McHart coming at you, episode. I think we're at 403. Woo man, excited to be able to do this episode with you. Guys.
Speaker 2:Before we jump into this, like we always do, let's slow down. Okay, let's slow down and pause and turn to our Heavenly Father. Yes, lord, lord, we worship you today. We honor you. We honor you, lord, we glorify you, jesus, we invite you in Holy Spirit. Thank you, lord, thank you, lord, lord, we recognize you as our source. We recognize you as our source. We recognize you as our source. We roll all of our cares, we roll all of our cares onto you, all of our cares, everything that will be pulling at our attention. We release them. Thank you, lord, that every day, every day, you say we have nothing to fear. Thank you, lord for that. Nothing to fear. Thank you, jesus' name, amen. All right, right, well, good stuff, guys.
Speaker 2:Hey, um, I'm excited to be able to share this with you. It's been a little while, I don't? I started up my walk, you know, as you can tell, you might hear the birds chirping in the background, but I'm on a walk right now it's early in the morning and, as I was just getting ready to start recording, I just you know obviously I always acknowledge Holy Spirit as to what he'd like for me to talk about and popped up in my spirit and talked about financial freedom. So here we go and, like always, the best way I can do this is by just telling my story and my journey and still the journey that I'm on. So I guess I'll start off with just the background of really how I was raised, really how I was raised. So you know, I had two great parents, my mom and dad.
Speaker 2:You know, I do believe my dad actually got saved. He went to church. Mom and dad went to church. Mom and dad went to church. I believe my mom got saved at probably a young age and she was a believer, and my dad didn't get saved, even though he went to church. You know, there lies a whole entire story or a whole entire thing right there. You could talk about a whole entire story or a whole entire thing right there you could talk about. But dad went to church and he actually got saved in a I think it was fourth grade, a fourth grade Sunday school class, where he was one of the Sunday school teachers. How about that? Teachers, how about that? And I'm not going to go into the details, but what transpired from my dad getting saved was really him actually leading me to the Lord. And so I got saved at age nine, I believe I'm. I think that was 1988 or something like that or 87, when I got saved. I think it's 87.
Speaker 2:And you know, lo and behold, I really do, you know, sell out to the Lord. I mean, I've become one of those fired up little Christians. I remember my grandparents and my parents and the pastor at the time, really kind of believing that I was going to be a preacher. Actually, that was kind of believing that I was going to be a preacher. Actually, that was kind of something that they really, after I got saved, they really kind of expected of or kind of saw in me this gift that I didn't know I had, of being able to communicate or at least just be able to talk where people do listen. So they saw something that I didn't know about. So I always thought I was going to be growing up. I kind of thought I was going to be a preacher.
Speaker 2:Well, to kind of continue forward, you know, my mom and dad owned their own business. My dad, my mom, actually sold her, her business. She had a women's boutique, uh, dress shop that was in, you know, our at that time kind of a small town, wasn't a big, wasn't big. It was right outside of Atlanta, though, and it was definitely growing. And I even went to the same high school that my mom and dad graduated from. Both, actually, my sisters and I graduated from the same high school as my mom and dad. Well, dad owned a construction company. Well, dad owned a construction company where he would go out and do contracting work with the general contractors for water lines and sewer lines over major roadways, really across the area that we lived in here in Georgia, the area that we lived in here in Georgia. And so I grew up with this idea that you know, you've got to work really hard in order to create income. And I saw that from my parents, my mom, after she sold the women's boutique shop, she actually she actually wound up kind of being my dad's you know book forward right around about the age of 16, 17,.
Speaker 2:I I kind of had a pretty radical encounter with the Lord where that I really kind of sold out to the Lord.
Speaker 2:I really, I mean, even though I was a committed Christian, I realized that by following the Lord my life could be on a really awesome trajectory. And I saw that at a young age. And in the process of doing that, I remember I went off to a camp when I was about 17. It was actually a Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership camp out in Abilene, texas, and we were actually on the campus of Abilene Christian and I remember being out there and just being all by myself. I didn't have any friends that had gone with me, I was out there just on my own and I remember being on the sidewalk after it was kind of like our first night that we were gathered and right after the big assembly of all of us and there was probably at least 300, 400 kids there, but right after that I remember everybody leaving the auditorium and everybody leaving the auditorium, I remember kind of walking out and I really didn't have any friends.
Speaker 2:And I just remember this so distinctly that I looked up to the sky and I said, all right, lord, looks like it's you and me. And I kind of turned and started walking and it wasn't an audible voice. It wasn't like anything, but it was just inside my spirit. I just said I heard yep, tyler, it is you and me. I remember that very distinctly. That was the first time that I heard, or I knew that I heard Holy Spirit, you know, speaking with me. And from that time on things really started to change. I mean, I'd made some big decisions at that time. I decided to leave, quit football earlier that spring and not pursue football, even though I'd been a football player, basically my whole entire, you know that time childhood, ever since I was like maybe in fourth grade, I played football.
Speaker 2:Fourth grade I played football and I felt led by Holy Spirit and again, at that moment it wasn't anything like the Lord had come down in my room and there was this big light and nothing like that. It was just at that time, the only way I knew how to follow the Holy Spirit was by actually just um, it was really kind of a change in my heart that I felt and I knew that something had shifted away from football and that I was being drawn to something else and obviously, that something else actually wound up being track and field. And you know, the track and field thing kind of emerged where that I actually did cross country. My senior year I actually had a coach that was coaching me and specifically in the decathlon and I was doing multiple events and the Lord was really still just doing a great work in me and just by the leading of the Holy Spirit and I don't know why I keep coming back to this whole leading of the Holy Spirit, but this is critical of becoming free financially. So I felt led of the Holy Spirit, that he had called me out of football and I had a desire in my heart and again I had people around me.
Speaker 2:My head track coach was definitely a big mentor of mine at that time, so I'm forever grateful for him mentor of mine at that time, so I'm forever grateful for him. But I felt in my heart that I was going to believe God for a scholarship to a forward track and field, to a school out of state and to a Division I school. And I chose and I don't have time to get into all the details of it, maybe that might be another story for a different time but I remember a night where I had all these applications because everybody was in my high school. This was right around maybe January, february time period of my senior year. Everybody was getting their acceptance letters and talking about where they were going and I remember my mom saying you know, Ty, have you, have you applied anywhere?
Speaker 2:are you, are you going? I did you, you know, and I'm like I said no. I remember I was in my room upstairs and I this is just kind of one of my MOs at the time I really was just kind of crying out the Lord and I was actually crying because I wanted him to tell me to do something, you know, to fill out these applications for, because I had like four or five applications right in front of me to fill out these applications for, cause I had like four or five applications right in front of me to fill out for schools. But again, I still just didn't have this inside my heart to do it. And I said I remember taking the all those applications, said, fine, if you're not going to tell me right now, you're going to do this Lord. And I remember I took all those applications and threw them in the trash. I'll never forget that In my Georgia Bulldog big cylinder trash can.
Speaker 2:I remember that trash can. That's a good trash can. So anyway, yeah, that's what I did. So anyway, yeah, that's what I did. Well, little did I know the Lord was moving on my behalf and later it might have been around early late February, early March, I got a phone call from and it was the only call I got where that it was unsolicited of me. I did actually do send off some things to University of Tennessee, but that's another story for another day. That didn't pan out, let's just go say that. But as I was in, this phone call came in asking for me and it was the head track coach for Coastal Carolina University.
Speaker 2:I had no idea who Coastal Carolina was, but this coach called me, said he'd heard about me through, actually, my decathlon coach, praise God. I mean that's a whole story in how I met him and just how God uses things, guys. But I got to the point where that you know he's telling me. It's like have you ever heard of Myrtle Beach, south Carolina? And I'm like no, and or actually I might've said yes, but I really didn't know what Myrtle Beach was. And we got to talking. He wanted me to come on a recruiting visit. We lined it up and I went, had a phenomenal track season my senior year and wound up filling out my only application and signing my scholarship to Coastal Carolina University in late May, maybe right before I graduated.
Speaker 2:Again, there's a lot of details and all that I don't have time to on this podcast. Again, there's a lot of details in all that which I don't have time to on this podcast. But I mean God was obviously moving, I mean doing these big shifts in my life. It was amazing. Well, little did I know. And you know, obviously I'm not going to be able to finish the entire story right now of financial freedom. But I go to college and first I declare myself as a psychology major because, like literally the Sunday night before I leave for school, I feel led to be called into full-time Christian ministry. It's that pastor thing kind of popped back up again. That's what I thought, and that's what I thought and I remember I get into my first classes of psychology and dude, I'm miserable.
Speaker 2:It's like this is not me and it was rough. Let's just say that. Well, I remember one night, that first semester, I was on my knees Again this is where I was at Morning and I could just. I was crying out to the Lord. Again it was, and this is just how I was at the time. All I knew was you know, Lord, what is going on?
Speaker 1:I mean just, crying right.
Speaker 2:You know, I thought I was going to be a psychology major, but this is not what I wanted to do. And you know, what am I to do? Do I need to change majors? All these big things that I just didn't know about. Well, as I was laying back down again, I felt Holy Spirit ask me a question. He asked me a question, saying hey, tyler, what does a pastor do? And you know, I went through this whole entire deal with him of saying, well, you know, he performs weddings, he also does funerals, he obviously preaches on Sunday mornings. He goes and kind of sees sick people, sick people, okay. And as I'm rattling off all these different things, what the Holy Spirit, what the Holy Spirit asked me and he's like yep, yep, that's right, okay, good, and he just kept saying what else? What else? That's literally what he was. That's literally.
Speaker 2:Since he and I had this conversation, and as I, my little lightning fast brain said and this, it had to have been just something from Holy Spirit that, because it's kind of well up inside of me, I said Lord, he's a businessman, he runs pretty much an organization that's almost a business, and it was like a gunshot went off inside me whenever I said that and it was like I knew that I needed to be in business. Be in business, I think the next day I went and found out how I could move my major and all that over, which again started me on this trajectory of where I'm at today, of business and slash ministry, slash helping people, slash just all the things that God is doing in my life. So I'll stop right there with that guys. So I hope you're kind of getting a sense of now. I'll say this right here Okay, I wasn't perfect in all these things.
Speaker 2:I wasn't, like you know, 100% as far as being a perfect Christian. Okay, so don't get me wrong, but I was trying. I was trying to hear from Holy Spirit on all these things and I was in God's Word, I was around good people, but I was being led of the Holy Spirit and one of the first things I feel like from to become financially free as a born-again child of the most high God is you've got to start hearing and becoming friends with the counselor, with the standby, with the, you know, uh, with the one that is actually going to reveal to you all the different things and show you the secret things, which is Holy Spirit Guys, this is going to be a fun episode series right here, but I want you to become financially independent, financially free from this world. That is one of my goals. I think it should be everybody's goal and I'm going to enjoy sharing this story with you.
Speaker 2:So more to come. Gang, know that you're blessed, you're highly favored, you're empowered to prosper. You walk in divine health, spirit of breakthroughs upon you. Guys and gang, we'll catch you on the other side.
