KS 408 - Decision-Making Without Pressure: Discerning God's Direction in Business
Have you ever felt pressured to make an important business decision right away? That uncomfortable feeling of being rushed or pushed may actually be revealing something crucial about the source of that guidance.
The concept that "Holy Spirit is a gentleman" transforms how we approach decision-making in business and life. When faced with opportunities—even multi-million dollar ones—there's a profound difference between feeling pulled toward something and being pushed into it. This episode unpacks a powerful discernment tool I learned years ago that has saved me from countless fear-based decisions.
Drawing from Ephesians 3:20-21, we explore how God works "not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us." This gentle wooing stands in stark contrast to the high-pressure tactics we often encounter in business negotiations. When someone says, "If you don't decide now, the offer's gone," that pressure rarely aligns with God's patient, drawing nature.
For Christian entrepreneurs navigating complex business landscapes, this principle provides a reliable litmus test: if it creates anxiety rather than peace, if it demands immediate action through fear rather than confidence, it likely isn't divine guidance. Through personal stories, scripture insights, and practical application, this episode equips you to recognize the difference between the anxious push of human demands and the peaceful pull of God's direction.

Speaker 2:What's going on? Kingdom Success List. This is Tyler McHart coming at you, episode 408. I think we're on 408. I know I'm way overdue for doing an episode and there are there's a million and a half excuses that I could probably give you guys as to why I haven't done an episode. But you know what? It doesn't matter, you don't want to hear them. Uh, I don't want to have to go through all the excuses. So there you go. How about that? Nonetheless, we're right here, so let's move forward, okay, man? Um, I'm actually traveling right now, driving out to an appointment that I set over a week and a half ago. I had actually kind of taken a little bit of a day of rest yesterday and really did not look at my calendar until actually 5 o'clock this morning and said oh man, I've got an appointment at 8.30 this morning.
Speaker 2:Anyway, I get up, get going, read my Bible, spend a little bit of time fellowshipping with the Lord this morning. Really love what I read in Proverbs, chapter 1, because actually it is May 1st of 2025. Today I'm recording this and, man, it says, start with God. And uh, this is the message Bible. And uh, that's. It's always a good place to start, guys, especially for your day. Start with the Lord. And I hope and pray that, if you're in the sound of my voice, that you actually start with the Lord every day, even if it's just for five minutes, because those five minutes can mean, I mean, the difference between life and death. It really it really does, guys. It is that important. So I kind of got I dropped off the kids at school and I'm driving out to where I've got this kind of a networking event. But it's also got some, I guess, a gentleman that's going to be sharing a little bit about succession planning. And you know, if you guys know anything of what I've been doing here lately, I've actually been working with families and helping them develop and set up their own family bank and a little bit of succession planning and looking to the future is actually a little bit wrapped up into that with what I'm doing, you know. By the way, if you're ever interested in that, want to talk to me about it, you're more than welcome to hit the little chat with me button on the actual right below I think it's in the show notes section and send me a message. I'll be more than happy to talk with you about family banking concepts, anyway. So I'm headed out there. I'll be honest with you guys.
Speaker 2:Last several weeks have been where I've been, really, or maybe just the circumstances, and you know how life has been. I really feel like that. That life, uh, life is the God's using life to kind of uh as sandpaper to kind of smooth out my edges, and that's a little bit uncomfortable and uh, and I'm a little, not tired well, yeah, tired would probably be a good word I'm still a little bit fatigued just with the things that are going on in my world. I'm a little fatigued and you know I kind of got a little bit of this. Something in the back of my mind was like you know, you seem to go home and go back to bed and say that you're not feeling well and call it a day push forward and I was at a red light and I was finishing up my Bible reading and I just so happened to pop on Ephesians, chapter 3, verses 20 through 21 in the Message Bible and that got me really excited. It really did, so much so that I sent it out to a gentleman that I was actually speaking with.
Speaker 2:That's, you know, kind of starting a new venture, and he's got, you know, a couple offers on the table and we're not talking about, like you know, a couple offers on the table and we're not talking about, like you know, hey, this offer that he's got on the table is like for 5,000 bucks, or even, you know, 100,000 dollars. We're talking of a couple million dollars that this gentleman is being offered for the opportunity for really what he's developed, um, software wise, which is pretty cool, and but he's he's obviously having to weigh through and figure out how to navigate where the Holy spirit's leading this. This is why I this is, guys, I mean, this is why I still do this podcast, this is why I feel so passionate about, you know, talking to you guys. Maybe I don't do it consistently enough, but I still come on here and share with you guys and it's just a good reminder to me, and if it's a good reminder to me, I know it's a good reminder to you. So he and I we talked about all the different opportunities, all the different negotiations that were going on with it and at the end of it I said, hey, you know, I just pulled up in my driveway and I knew I needed to get out and get back in my house to do some things and I said, hey, man, let's just pray right now, I'll pray over you, and that you, god, will give you wisdom and what you need to have. So as I'm praying, right towards the end of the prayer, I felt Holy Spirit remind me of what I learned from a pastor back in Columbia, south Carolina, at Ambassador Christian Center, and when I said amen with the gentleman, he's like amen and I said, hey, brother, look, I just really feel like Holy Spirit just prompted me to share this with you so that you, you know, really can kind of just maybe use this right here, because it's always helped me and I probably have shared this many, many podcast episodes ago. But the reason why I wanted to share this morning on here is because I found a scripture verse that really does kind of back up what my pastor said. Now you might say, okay, we'll get to it, tyler, here we go. So I told this gentleman on the phone. I said look my pastor back in Columbia. He shared this.
Speaker 2:When you feel, when you're having to make a decision, when you're having to figure out which way to go with, say, a direction on a business deal or on really anything, and you feel pressure, you feel like being pushed, you feel that you have to make a decision, or else, and he would say, honestly, that is definitely not from the Lord, because the Lord, the Holy Spirit, holy Spirit, he is a gentleman, he does he. He he never will push you, never will push you. He will draw you, he will pull you. He never pushes. He's a gentleman, he's going to draw, he's going to uh woo, if you want, if I can call it that, uh woo you. Oh man, that's kind of cool. I just saw a little uh, volkswagen bug bug, that's Herbie, it's got the Herbie stuff on there and that brings back memories of growing up. Anyway, I shared that with him. How Holy Spirit does that? And I just came to a red light.
Speaker 2:So I want to share this verse with you guys. It says God can do anything. This is Ephesians 3, 20 and 21. God can do anything. You know, far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams. He does it not here. It is not by pushing, pushing us around, but by working within us, his Spirit, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. So I'll stop right there because now I'm driving again. But, man, I just had to share that with you guys today. That God is doing and it encourages me because right now, I mean just with the season of life, I know it's a season that's getting ready to end because of one big project that's getting ready to wrap up in the next two weeks. So I know this season is getting ready to end, this busyness is getting ready to end, which is fine. It's been a great thing. It's actually track and field and me helping these throwers. But, man, guys, when I read that that he's gentle, he doesn't push, it was like dude, there it is, there, it is right there.
Speaker 2:Holy Spirit's a gentleman, guys. He's not trying to make you do something, he's not trying to force you into a decision. If you feel pressure, if you feel I mean even the guy that I was talking to the phone. Whenever I shared that with him, he said you know, I appreciate you sharing that because, man, that's exactly what the guy one of the deals he was trying to work out with this gentleman. The guy told him. He said hey look, this is it. If you don't make your decision right now, offer's done, I'm not even going to deal with you anymore and you can go on.
Speaker 2:And that's nothing but pressure. Nothing but pressure. I mean, I've got even myself, I've got an opportunity that uh is before me again. It's not millions of dollars, but it's definitely, uh, several thousands of dollars. And, um, I don't feel any pressure about this deal. I felt no pressure at all.
Speaker 2:Uh, the gentleman that I'm working with, or that potentially I'm going to be possibly working with, I have felt no pressure from him. He's not laid the gauntlet down, he's not tried to push me and I can sense Holy Spirit just still working. Now, if the deal doesn't happen, or if the deal doesn't really work itself out with him, I'm okay with that, because I know that I'm being pulled, I'm not being pushed, I'm not being pressured. And, guys, you can take that same litmus test If it's pushing, if it's fear-based, you're going to lose out. You're not going to get what you need to get that type of stuff. Man is nothing but the enemy and the enemy only wants to take advantage of you with that, and that's not how Holy Spirit operates. It's not. It just praise God in the Message Bible that he clearly talks about that. And man, that is just good, good stuff. So I just want to share that. That was it. That was all I wanted to share.
Speaker 2:I really do believe that we can all gain some great insight with that and just being led of the Holy Spirit. Because, you know, sometimes I have so many guys you know, tell me which, I totally get this, I totally get it, you know saying you know, I don't know if I really hear from Holy Spirit. You know, I think I am, but is it me and man? Let me just kind of put a little pin in that right there. But if you're doing your very best to follow the Lord, you're not living in sin, you're in the Word consistently, you're doing your best to hear from the Holy Spirit, I believe that God will bless that and you're in the will of God and you're going to hear from the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 2:It might be a direct, quiet voice inside of you. It might be a prompting, like a sense that you need to do this. It might be a prompting like a sense that you need to do this. It could be actually someone outside of you where that you know. It could be your spouse, it could be your wife, it could be, you know, even your own child. It could be someone else that the Lord might use. It could be some circumstances that he might open up doors to. You know you've got to be open to hearing that and seeing that. And you know feet, you know have a sense of the pulling, the wooing, the this is, this is good what I'm doing right here. So's how.
Speaker 2:That's how you know you can actually hear from holy spirit guys you know, there's so many scripture verses that what he says in here, that I'm just thinking of proverbs 3, 5 and 6. Trust in the lord with all your heart. Lean not upon your own understanding, but in all your. Acknowledge him and he will direct your path. So, gang, I bless you. Guys, know that you're blessed, you're highly favored, you're empowered to prosper. You walk in divine health. The spirit of breakthrough is upon you, guys and gang, we'll catch you on the other side.
