Have you ever noticed that Jesus—despite carrying the most critical mission in history—was never in a hurry? This profound observation has been challenging me for years as the Holy Spirit consistently whispers: "Tyler, slow down."

In our hyper-connected world where information bombards us at unprecedented rates, we've normalized a pace of life that runs contrary to how Jesus operated. After reading "The Relentless Elimination of Hurry" by Mark Comer, I've been confronting this tension between modern expectations and divine example. What if, instead of simply trying to imitate Jesus' character, we actually adopted His lifestyle—including His deliberate, unhurried pace?

This episode explores a powerful principle I've been meditating on, borrowed from Navy SEAL tactical training: "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast." These elite warriors understand that deliberate, controlled movements under pressure lead to superior outcomes compared to rushed, panicked actions. When applied to our lives as Christian entrepreneurs and marketplace believers, this wisdom transforms our effectiveness. Moving methodically, thinking clearly, and proceeding with intention creates the space for true excellence and divine guidance.

Consider where hurry might be sabotaging your success and limiting your kingdom impact. Are your rushed decisions truly producing the results you desire? What might change if you approached your work, relationships, and spiritual practices with the controlled precision of a SEAL on mission rather than the frantic pace our culture celebrates? The answer might surprise you—and accelerate your true success in ways hurry never could.

Speaker 2:

Here we are. So I wanted to, I guess, give you guys a couple quick highlights and updates and then I'm going to jump into this content with you guys. So I'm going to walk. So, by the way, if you hear cars passing or birds chirping, it's just the way it is, uh, anyway, so I just got done having my, I guess, business meeting with holy spirit and I've been fairly consistent I mean, I can always be more consistent with that meeting but it just is a great time I only take about 10 minutes and it's a great time for me to just kind of think through some things with the Holy Spirit plan and write things out physically, write things out, not just you know, and I'm probably just going to do an episode on this business meeting and kind of what I do anyway. But as I was doing that, this morning, holy spirit gave me just just riled off, said hey, you need to do two episodes a month and and post them and go ahead and record them so you can get them in and ready to go. So I'm like, okay, I can do that.

Speaker 2:

Just talk briefly about something that has been reoccurring in my quiet time, slash journal time with the Lord for several, several call it years and I believe I've talked about it before on this podcast, but let's just go ahead and talk about it again. That is slowing down, slowing down. I read a little while back the book or listen the audio book, whatever you want to call it the Relentless Elimination of Hurry by Mark Comer, fantastic book, and he talks about in there instead of trying to be like Jesus, he says maybe you might want to adopt the lifestyle of Jesus. And I found that very fascinating and it made me sit there as I was reading through the book, think about how Jesus never was in a hurry. And I was listening to a podcast episode of another gentleman and he was being interviewed and right towards the end of the interview he talked about, he was asked. Basically, the host asked him to say hey, carl, his name is Carl Pullen, p-u-l-l-i-e-n. Anyway, hey, carl, as we kind of get off the air right here and wrap up our interview, which has been fantastic, what would you actually like to say to our audience? As just kind of a parting thought, carl got kind of quiet and said I would encourage everybody to slow down. And man, that just really did. Just even though those words just encouraging people to slow down just really obviously resonated with me, because here for the last several years the Holy Spirit's always said hey, tyler, slow down, relax, you don't have to be in such a rush. And he said that. And, man, I just had to kind of really again kind of pontificate that a little bit, because in our society today, due to our devices, our technology devices, we have a lot of information that comes into us a whole lot more frequently than what people had back in the 1800s, even in 1980, when I was growing up, and in the 1800s, even in 1980, when I was growing up, and in the 1990s, just information was not flowing as quickly and in abundance as what it is today. And I feel like that it's caused our society. It feels like it's definitely for me, caused me to hurry too much. And Carl made this statement. It actually comes from the Navy SEALs and I wanted to share this statement with you guys because it really did kind of help me to. This actually might be one of my themes moving forward, especially for my track and field athletes and even for my life in itself too.

Speaker 2:

The Navy SEALs have a saying. That saying goes something like this the Navy SEALs have a saying. That saying goes something like this Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. And man guys, that really does just kind of capture a little bit of where I've been over the last several months of just trying to slow down and be more intentional with what I'm doing, especially after I got done reading that book Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. I got done reading that book, ruthless Elimination of Hurry and I just want to encourage you guys to do the same. The reason why the Navy SEALs make this statement or actually focus on this statement, is because when you're going slowly and deliberately and methodically to acquire a target or go after something, you're actually in way more control. Let me read this to you. Okay, it says the phrase smooth is fast. No, excuse me, slow is smooth and fast. I'm going to apologize, guys. Let me read this Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. It's commonly attributed to the US Navy SEALs and other military tactical training environments.

Speaker 2:

It's a saying used to emphasize the importance of deliberate, controlled action that your time to move carefully and efficiently taking excuse me, taking your time to move carefully and efficiently which ultimately leads to faster and more successful outcomes. Under pressure man, that is good stuff right there, guys. God doesn't want us to move fast. Jesus is never in a hurry. I feel like that we just need to slow down and really think through how we're going about our day, because slow is smooth and smooth is fast. I'm just thinking of a boat, like if I was on the part of the Navy SEALs and I was gliding across a river or a lake getting ready to invade into an enemy's camp man. I would be all about all about smooth going slow, because, man, I wanted to take on the enemy.

Speaker 2:

You know, guys, I hope this helps. I hope this just kind of helps give you a little bit of perspective, a little bit of time to kind of maybe think through your own life. Where things are at for you, king of success, know that you're blessed, you're highly favored, you're empowered to prosper, you walk in divine health. Spirit of breakthrough is on you, guys, and game will catch you on the other side.
