KS 413 - Sowing vs. Selling: Why Releasing Outcomes Creates Abundance
Proverbs 22,. Verse 29 says Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before obscure men. Fellow Marketplace Christians, stop apologizing and start winning. Welcome to the Success Edge, the show that helps you take your walk as a Marketplace Christian to the next level. Here's your host Christian entrepreneur Tyler McHart.
Speaker 2:What's going on? King's Success List this is Tyler McHart coming at you, episode 413, I believe Decided to be able to do this episode with you guys, this episode with you guys, and I'm on a walk, so if you hear some birds in the background, a little bit of wind or a car passing by, you'll know that Mr McCart here is on a walk. The story that I want to tell is something I just actually just watched on Instagram, and it's about a high school student. His name is Mikkel and he actually lives here in the area that I currently right now live which is Dekula, georgia, that's Dracula without an R.
Speaker 2:Okay, dekula. Anyway, mikkel just graduated high school. Um, mikkel just graduated high school but, uh, for the last couple of years he's actually been working over here at the local Burger King and just doing what Mikkel does, according to the actual Instagram feed, which was actually published on CBS evening news published on CBS evening news. So the story of Mikkel is Mikkel does Mikkel. What now? What does that mean?
Speaker 2:Mikkel likes to work and he works really hard, but he does it expecting nothing in return. That is worth thinking about right there, that he works hard, expecting nothing in return. And the reporter actually asked him. He said so you know, if you were to go and work at Burger King, would you work for free? He said yeah, absolutely. He said because I know that if I give of my time give of whatever and I enjoy what I it's a privilege for me to go and serve someone else. Give of whatever and I enjoy what I it's a privilege for me to go and serve someone else. Well, on the night of his graduation, he graduates with honors from high school, which is great. Everybody's really excited. After his graduation, he decides to go back and get a quick bite to eat and it just so happens he goes to Burger King. So he walks into Burger King, where he actually works at, and quickly realizes that all his coworkers are overwhelmed with a whole bunch of orders and they're getting behind.
Speaker 2:Mikkel jumps behind the counter, takes off his I guess he still had on his medal or whatever he had from his graduation jumped in behind the counter, started helping without being on the clock yes, I said without being on the clock he starts serving and starts helping helping his coworkers get back things the way they need to be serving customers. But it was interesting. This one lady walked in and just happened to actually record the whole situation that took place with the McHale and wound up taking that video, posting it on a crowdfunded sourcing platform and wound up raising for him two hundred thousand dollars. And the lady that took the video, she said I, I was just amazed, I was so just. She said not many people would do what he's doing, especially at 18 years old and just had graduated from high school.
Speaker 2:The night of his high school graduation majorityity of kids what about partying, going seeing their friends, spending their last time with their buddies? But that's not what Mikkel did. And Mikkel, without having any expectation of outcome, wound up receiving that $200,000 and now is going to take that money, apply it to trade school so that he can actually open up his own mechanic shop and become a master mechanic Gang. Isn't that a good story? Isn't that just powerful right there? And I bring it all back to this whole kingdom mindset, this whole kingdom mindset of actually doing the kingdom of God in the business place, in the marketplace, because the marketplace traditionally is dog eat dog. It is get all you can get, keep all you can keep so that you can get yours.
Speaker 2:And I don't think that sometimes people have the intentions of hurting other people or doing wrong to other people. But it happens, or it even happens to ourselves, where that we're so fixated on trying to make the sale or we're so fixated on trying to make our business work, whatever it is make our business work whatever it is that we get so hung up in that that we sabotage ourselves. We actually get way more stressed out, we overeat, we have higher whatever cortisol stuff going on in our body that causes us to be sick, and we do that to ourselves. But the kingdom, the kingdom Jesus, made it very clear that to seek his kingdom and his righteousness, his way of doing things, and it shall be added to you Now let's turn and look at Jesus real quick, jesus in His ministry. Well, let's go back and actually look at Jesus, and I didn't even plan on saying this right here, but Jesus was a carpenter and we don't know what happened to Joseph we can assume that Joseph passed away, possibly.
Speaker 2:well, as Joseph is not in the story, his earthly father is no longer in the story, being that Jesus was the firstborn in the Jewish culture. Well, he actually received his father's business and, as him being in his father's business, he actually became the now provider for all of his younger siblings and his mother. Well, we don't have the details, but I can imagine that Jesus never got stressed out about an order he needed to fill for a fellow client of his fellow business, fellow client of his. He never was stressed out about how am I going to be able to make a sale, or make a sale that's going to?
Speaker 2:you know, put food on my table. Never was sitting there thinking about probably those things. All Jesus was thinking about probably was how can I serve this person?
Speaker 1:How can?
Speaker 2:I add value to this individual, so much so that, with that mindset and that use of that kingdom mindset of sowing and reaping Because how does the kingdom work? What does the kingdom operate on? This is where the big distinction is, guys, the kingdom operates on sowing and reaping, not buying and selling, it doesn't? That's the major difference. So, with that in mind, jesus was giving his services, so much so that he must have created such an abundance of wealth. Right saying this, right that in the culture, if you became a rabbi and stepped away from your family, obviously you had an inheritance that you had generated, so large that you could take care of your family, especially being the firstborn. Well, you can research that a little bit if you want to.
Speaker 2:Kingdoms of God's listener, but I believe Jesus did that. You can research that a little bit if you want to. Kingdoms of God's listener, but I believe Jesus did that. I believe Jesus had created enough of a business to where that he was able to, you know, farmed and had to live off the you know or go beg for bread. It never says that in Scripture, does it? So you have to sit there and think, man, how in the world did Jesus make it?
Speaker 2:It was all around sowing and reaping and I feel like that, with this mindset that we can have, that we can adopt in the kingdom and I'm adopting it right now even more I'm renewing my mind more and more that a big enemy. So if you adopt this mindset now, hear me on this, okay, I said this to my son early this morning when you actually start to sow, when you actually start to add value to others, you start to give into other people. You cannot be hung up on the outcome, you can't be focused.
Speaker 1:You know the harvest is going to come.
Speaker 2:You know it will. It's just automatic. But you can't try to figure out how. One of the enemies of your harvest is how the harvest is going to come. Let that kind of sink in the enemy. A enemy to your harvest is the how you trying to figure out the how the harvest is going to come. That's where we have to stop doing that. Can't be focused on that.
Speaker 2:All we need to be focused on is how can I create value for this client, for this person, even beyond me? Creating him a piece of artwork about it he's a client of mine that way or doing this CAD drawing for this building of this client, or trying to sell a piece of real estate for this client. It goes way beyond that. Way beyond that. That the thing that you sell is just the platform. It's just the way to get the conversation going between you and that person. But that's the opportunity for you to actually be able to add value, create more value for that person. That's the whole thing is releasing the outcome, releasing how the harvest will come, just knowing the harvest will come. I'm actually kind of preaching to myself right now because at the time of this, recording the current business with my family business that I'm starting to create with this whole family banking, which is beyond just even permanent life insurance, but really estate planning and getting your businesses in order for succession planning, because those types of things are so important down the road. Having a long-term mindset, being able to pass down the values and values and the vision to your family, to your kids and your grandkids this is what it's all about, guys. So for me, right now God's put this in my heart and currently, right now, all I want to do is just create value. I'm not trying to my flesh wants me to get hung up on the outcome or think, oh man, you haven't made a whole lot of sales or you haven't helped out a whole lot of people, in which that's an untrue statement. But this joint venture that we have with our Heavenly Father, that joint venture that any farmer has, where that they sow the seed, they till the soil, they prepare the ground, they make sure that the pests and insects and rodents stay out of the farm, they do all those things right there, and it's the Lord that brings the rain, it's the Lord that actually brings the growth, brings the harvest. It's this joint venture, guys, that we have.
Speaker 2:This is how this whole kingdom thing works. It's that simple. You have to sow, you have to put in, give the Lord something to work with and then release it, believing and knowing that God is faithful and he is to work with and then release it, believing and knowing that God is faithful and he is. He's put these things in our earth. Seed time and harvest will always be here. It's part of our earthly makeup. You can't get away from it. So, kingdom success. Know that you're blessed, you're highly favored, you're empowered to prosper. Walk in divine health. The spirit of breakthrough is upon you. Guys and gang, we'll catch you on the other side.
