KS 419 - Start Your Own Nation: Building God's Kingdom in Babylon

Tyler H. McCart: Christian | Leadership | Business | Sales | Coach Season 12 Episode 11

Send us a text

Have you been so focused on national issues that you've missed your opportunity for local kingdom impact? That's exactly where Tyler McHart found himself before a profound shift in his thinking about Christian engagement in business, family, and community.

Drawing from Jeremiah 29's surprising instructions to exiled Israelites in Babylon, Tyler unpacks how believers are called not to retreat from hostile territory but to establish themselves firmly within it. "Build houses, plant gardens, have children..." wasn't just advice for ancient Jews—it's a blueprint for modern Christians seeking to create lasting impact in their communities.

Tyler challenges compartmentalized thinking that keeps our faith, business, and civic engagement in separate silos. Through personal stories—including a powerful family gathering where he and his sisters intentionally passed down their mother's values to ten grandchildren—he illustrates what it means to establish a godly legacy that transcends generations.

This episode explores how Christians can "start their own nation" by creating wealth through entrepreneurship, establishing family values that resist cultural corruption, and strategically engaging with local government and business networks. Tyler shares his journey from national-level political focus to meaningful local involvement, including developing relationships with state representatives and community leaders.

Whether you're a business owner, employee, parent, or simply a believer looking to maximize your kingdom impact, this message offers practical steps for becoming more intentionally engaged in transforming your community from the inside out. As Tyler says, "The family is going to help change the world, and I believe that starts with strong fathers, men of God that have a vision for their life."

Ready to plant your garden in "Satan's city" and create an oasis of godly influence? This episode will show you how to begin building your own nation right where you're planted.

Proverbs 22,. Verse 29 says Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before obscure men. Fellow Marketplace Christians, stop apologizing and start winning. Welcome to the Success Edge, the show that helps you take your walk as a Marketplace Christian to the next level. Here's your host Christian entrepreneur Tyler McHart.

Speaker 2:

What's going on, canebs? It's Tyler McHart coming at you, episode 419. And I'm excited to be able to do this episode with you guys. I'm always excited to do every episode with you, but it is a rainy day here in Georgia, so I am not out and about actually walking right now nor am.

Speaker 2:

I driving my truck around talking to you guys, but I wanted to do this episode. Like I mentioned before the last episode I talked a good deal about something that happened to me. That was just something that really moved me and that was where I saw an intersection of the government side of things, met with the business side of things and then met with actually even the church side of things. And, you know, you can actually go back and listen to that episode. By the way, I'm wiping my whiteboard right now, so if you hear that, wiping, that's what that is.

Speaker 2:

Anyway, I think that there's something to that and I believe what I'm going to talk about again, this will be a two-part series and this is going to be able to kind of help families, help you as a born-again, you know, child of the Most High God, really think through where you're planted. And maybe the title of this episode might be the last chapter in the book Point man. That's the book I just got done reading in my Joshua Men curriculum, but the last chapter in the book is called Start.

Speaker 1:

Your Own.

Speaker 2:

Nation, Start your Own Nation. And I'm going to read this quote to you Even the poorest man that has a family is to be prophet, priest and king of his own home, Oliver Highwood. Now here's where I want to go with all this. I'm going to take a little bit from the last chapter of the book, but I'm going to package it up with Tyler's viewpoint. Tyler's just kind of allowing the Holy Spirit just to kind of talk through me with this, just kind of allowing the Holy Spirit just to kind of talk through me with this. So I'm just really sensing the Holy Spirit saying that we as men of God and, by the way, that's the majority of my audience Now, if you ladies are out there listening to my podcast, thank you so much for tuning in. I welcome you to stay tuned in because you're vital to my podcast as well.

Speaker 2:

But again, I just want to make sure that I'm kind of again talking to the dudes, and one of the things that we as believers get caught doing more than we care to admit is we sometimes function in just in silos, especially dudes. You know, we can compartmentalize and say hey, I'm working on this project, I'm locked down, I'm focused on this thing, and we can get so focused on this one thing that we don't really allow ourselves to venture out into other areas, for example, that was kind of a little bit of me.

Speaker 2:

Years been mainly just focused on my own little world, so to speak, of what I do with my job, what I do with my family. If something is happening with my family, like a kid is wanting to do something with sports, I'm going to go out and be involved with that child of mine's sports. I might coach them. I'm going to participate and in my mind, I would come back to the church and I started actually getting more involved in my church. And, by the way, I had a conversation with two awesome guys that actually do listen to my podcast fairly on the regular and both of them were resonating with what I was talking about and how that it really kind of stretched them a little bit to kind of get out of their comfort zone. Well, here I was again, tyler going, doing business, doing normal stuff, but I really never saw myself affecting anything from a local level. I would always be kind of mainly fixated on the whole. You know I'm going to vote, I'm going to do my civic duty with that, which is great, and that is one aspect. But where I think that we've got to kind of elevate our thinking is being able to go beyond just your civic duty of voting, especially Americans I'm talking Americans right now, especially Americans I'm talking Americans right now and start developing relationships with government officials, with other churches not just your own church but other churches, like right now. I'm actually in a men's group right now with another church, getting to know a lot of these other dudes, and I didn't really plan this, but it just happened to be this way and it's causing me to see things a little bit differently from their perspective of kingdom stuff, to even starting to develop maybe some relationships actually in government or other business people that are involved with government. Seeing it a little bit differently, I'm actually tomorrow going and meeting with one of our state representatives here in Georgia, which I'm honored to do that. But I want to get to know that person. I want to hear what they think, how they tick Because they are definitely getting my vote but also how can I help them, how can I add value to them? This is kind of just this common theme.

Speaker 2:

Now, how does this kind of come back together scripturally? Well, here I was those seven or eight years just kind of focused on these two silos of my business and then going to church but never really venturing out outside of that. And it wasn't until I started doing this whole family banking concept, business and legacy planning thing where I started to actually get involved with some networking groups. And then I got invited to this one networking group called the Kewla Business Association and I met a gentleman there. He invited me to actually another networking group and I started to join that networking group, networking group and I started to join that networking group. And then this whole thing that happened with the city of Dekula, of the town center being built, I just really kind of saw like okay.

Speaker 1:

Lord.

Speaker 2:

I'm, I'm, I'm. One of my business mentors used to always say you know if it's a foot stomper, you know if I'm stomping with foot, you might want to pay attention. And I'm, it's a foot stomper. You know if I'm stomping on the foot, you might want to pay attention. And it's like the Lord is kind of stomping his foot at me saying hey, Tyler, you've gotten so fixated on the big picture of you know what the president is doing or what Congress is doing, or you know, aka the big beautiful bill that's happening right now, to where that you are missing, on what is taking place locally and how you can affect it and how you can actually help move the needle in certain areas.

Speaker 2:

And then I read this chapter in Point man, and I know this whole scripture, or this whole chapter that I actually have been thinking about or have kind of been. It's come back up and that is actually, you know, jeremiah 29. Now, a lot of us, a lot of you guys, know Jeremiah 29, verse 11. Okay, I mean we can quote that. We probably put that on every single graduate's little book that we might give them, or card which says I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans of welfare, not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me. This is Acts 12 and 13. Then you will call on me and come to me and pray and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Speaker 2:

Now, that's all great, we love quoting that, we love quoting that. But what most normal Christians and I hate to say it that way just normal, everyday Christians? They really don't understand the context and I didn't understand the context until I started really studying the Bible. It's amazing, I mean I know I just said a couple episodes back that I read the Bible in 90 days twice. Now Well, I'm actually I've decided to re-engage and instead of in 90 days I'm going to do 120 days. So I've read the Bible now three times in one year, which is I never thought I'd ever do that. But I began the third time and changing it up a little bit. But that's neither here nor there, but anyway, going back to this whole scripture verse, so here lies Genesis, jeremiah 29. Now let me paint this picture the children of Israel have been basically exiled, so they have sinned and fallen short of the mark. They have acted corruptly, they have not taken care of the poor, they have done evil things with children. It's just a big mess, big, big mess.

Speaker 2:

And finally the Lord says sorry guys, your sin has found you out. You're going off to captivity. Well, big, bad Babylon, king Nebuchadnezzar actually comes and lays siege to Jerusalem and takes a whole, lays siege to Jerusalem and takes a whole bunch of captives off to Babylon. Now you might think that if God is the one putting them out there, you might sit there and say I bet the Lord is going to say, hey, when you get there, run away, run back to Jerusalem or form a revolt and resist what this evil empire is doing. You know, you've been put in basically Satan's city. I mean, I'm literally. I mean I just started rereading the whole entire Bible again, like I just said, and here I am reading about the Nineveh and also the Tower of Babel, where Babylon is located.

Speaker 1:

Anyway it's kind of funny how this works out.

Speaker 2:

Praise the Lord. I'm just talking to you, guys. I appreciate you listening. If you have me on 2x, you know, fast talk, that's totally fine with me. But here we go. This is what the Lord said. The Lord didn't say run away. The Lord didn't say get a revolt. Here's what he said in verse 5 and 7. Build houses, live in them, plant gardens, eat the produce, take wives, have sons and daughters. Take wives for your sons, give your daughters in marriage that you may bear sons and daughters. Multiply there.

Speaker 2:

Talking about Babylon, now, guys, in Satan's city, Do not decrease, but seek the welfare of the city Wow, but seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile and pray to the Lord on its behalf, For in its welfare you will find your own welfare. Oh man, this is going to be good. I'm already feeling the Holy Spirit on this right here, guys. So here we go. Here we go, guys. You know this whole. I know I've been talking about this whole family banking thing, but this just goes into the kingdom and how we as fathers have got to wrap our arms around this whole entire thing.

Speaker 2:

So the very first thing he says to do is build homes. He said homes, not just home homes. So you need to be enterprising, by the way, you need to find a good fixer-upper. You need to find a place where you're actually called to be. You should be in a city building your home. God has called you specifically to a location in Satan's city. You are behind enemy lines. If you're a Christian, you're behind enemy lines. Let's go ahead and face it. This is not where we're supposed to be long term. As born again believers, we have a citizenship actually in heaven. The Lord says build houses. Excuse me, I apologize, I had to get some water. Let me just tell you people that are panicky people that are panicky people that are scared.

Speaker 2:

they don't build.

Speaker 2:

You can't be afraid you can't be afraid to kind of buckle down right here. All right, what's the other thing it says? It says plant gardens and eat the produce. Hey, go to work, go start up that small business that you've been dreaming about for so long. Create something for yourself and your family. Ask God's wisdom for skills and wisdom about that on how to start something up, or either add value to the business or the job that you have or the business that you feel you're supposed to start up, and look if something doesn't go right with that business.

Speaker 2:

That's okay, god's bigger than that Does the Lord's hand wax short, guys, who are you trusting here? But we are to enterprise right where we're at and that's where I want to kind of make mention to you guys that this whole enterprising thing, this whole small business thing, or in your job thing, I feel like I just need to kind of take a sidestep and talk to my job people real quick People that have jobs. Right, Because I know I fell into this trap too, right I?

Speaker 2:

fell in this trap when you have a job. When you have a job, you especially if it's a job that you're just supposed to go maybe you just have to go to work you're in your cubicle and you get out and you go back home after your job it's not like something that you feel very passionate about. Or you might have a job like how I had a job for many, many years where I literally was taking, I cover states, not just like one local area, but I cover states, which is great, which is fine, but I didn't really see myself impacting that local area where that my family was at.

Speaker 2:

I only saw more kind of like oh, I want to you know impact the whole territory that I have, which is true, but I, you know, just want to encourage you that if you're doing business or you're doing any kind of commerce, whether it local team of commerce or a rotary club or some kind of networking thing where you actually can rub shoulders with other people that have jobs, that have businesses in the area that you're at you need to enterprise, you need to network, you need to enterprise, you need to network. The last one I'm going to cover with this episode is this, right here, is get married and start a family. You know, don't be thinking that things are too uncertain and the future's too bleak for you to get married and start having kids. Trust me, find a godly woman, find a godly man. Make sure they're godly first. That's prerequisite number one. And, man, have some kids. Guys in this world have some kids guys in this world, Parenting.

Speaker 2:

Let me make sure you understand this right here Parenting is one of the greatest rewards that I believe our Heavenly Father can give us. It also is probably the most responsibility that our Heavenly Father can give us. But it also is probably the most responsibility that our Heavenly Father can give us Because now I have four young people that are under my house that I'm now responsible for, and it is a big responsibility. But you know what God has equipped me? God will equip you to be the best parent you possibly can be. Parenting is a forever thing until you pass away, until you don't have any more, until if your kids pass away before you do, which heaven forbid if that happened, goodness, I never want that to happen to anybody. But here again, guys, parenting never stops. My father-in-law told me that recently and I'm like, yeah, I can totally see. He said, yeah, Tyler, I'm still parenting. He's even at 70 years old Still parenting.

Speaker 2:

Okay, but where I want to go with all that, guys, is this right here Okay, so you need to have a family, you need to have somewhere that, because the family is the nucleus, the family is the building, the quintessential building block of our society where a man and a woman come together, create a bond, a covenant together and then procreate, where they have children, raising them up in the Lord within Satan City, okay and where you actually start to teach your children the values and the, the family identity that you want to see procreated, you want to see move you know, beyond where you're at, in side Babylon.

Speaker 2:

Now, here, here's, here's, here, and here lies where I can go and just tell you from from where I'm at. You know, I'm actually walking my own family through this right now. You know where that we're actually at, where my kids are still young. I'm still walking them through this whole. Creating our family, quitting, creating what the mccart family values are. Yesterday was a great example of that. We gathered together, me and my sisters gathered together with their families and the grandchildren, so there's 10 grandchildren. We get together at least once a year and it's in the time of when my mom actually passed away, because it happened right before school started. We pray over the grandkids and we set goals.

Speaker 2:

We usually have them set spiritual goals have them set academic goals and have another goal they want to set.

Speaker 2:

It could be a social goal, like they want to make a new friend, or it could be a sports-related goal or something athletic, but we have them set those goals and we have them read them every year.

Speaker 2:

We've been doing that goodness for the last five or six years. This one was pretty special because my sister actually asked us um me and my other sister to recant or bring up some of the things that my mom had taught us, and it was really really something kind of cool to see that my sisters and I even though we're both all three of us were in our 40s my mom hasn't been around for the last eight years now that things that my mom taught us still to this day are things that we both remember and we both, even now, teach our own kids like one of the things that we we that my sister shared was how that you know if you see someone at school or someone in a playground or someone at a lunch table or someone that might not be part of a cool club that you go up and go out of your way and go and befriend that person that might be by themselves.

Speaker 2:

You go out of your way and that was something my mom was a huge big proponent of that and when my sister was sitting there sharing that it just it made me kind of almost well up a little bit, because I know that's what I've been teaching my own kids. And we actually have got my children called my mom Yaya and we have Yaya's top 10 actually written up on our on an actual canvas on two different places in our house and it's actually in her kitchen and I'm sitting there going.

Speaker 2:

my sisters are telling the same thing to their kids and guess what? My mom's legacy is getting passed down. But, gang, how many Christian families are even doing that, where they're getting together, sharing stories and sharing the values of what grandma and grandpa, even though my mom and dad are passed away? They're with the Lord.

Speaker 2:

But here we are as a family, for, like I mean, we spent probably about two hours, okay, doing this, going through these and praying over the grandkids and having, you know, the three dads pray over the girls, pray over the boys and us speaking prophetically over them about their upcoming year, hearing their goals, hearing what their prior goals were, asking them if they actually accomplished their goals, talking about the values that my mom had instilled in us, talking about the values that my dad instilled in us Stuff like that, guys, is what we have to do to build houses, plant gardens. We talked about my dad's businesses that he had. He had a business we even prayed over. Here's something else the whole get married and have children.

Speaker 2:

While I was praying over each one of my nephews, I just said, hey, I'm going to pray over your spouse right now, and I prayed over each one of those young men's spouses. Then I turned to my nieces and I started praying over their spouses, their husbands. They're going to marry me. This is what we've got to do, guys. This is called digging in, locally entrenching ourselves in.

Speaker 2:

Satan's city and creating this garden of Eden behind enemy lines in Babylon, and I'm fired up about it. You need to start your own nation, and this is the first thing. I've got three more points that I'm going to cover in my next episode with you guys, but this is what I want to start with. Is these three things? Right here Is that you're going to build houses. You're going to build houses, not just one house, multiple houses. You need to create wealth, generational wealth, okay. You need to enterprise. You need to plant gardens and eat the produce. You need to have businesses. You need to have a job. You need to be producing Locally, reaching out, networking. You need to get married. You need to have kids. You need to teach your kids what you're doing. How are you doing? I know I'm kind of spilling over into one of my other things, but these are the three things I want to talk to you guys about. We've got to start thinking bigger than just being in our own little silos going to church. Okay, I check the box.

Speaker 2:

Hey now I've got my own little family. I've got to make sure that hey Junior's doing okay or whatever, my bills are paid. That's great, right, the gang. As brothers and sisters in the Lord, as you know, king of Success, my goal is to help you maximize your kingdom potential. My goal is to help you maximize your kingdom potential. So that's all I got today.

Speaker 2:

So I will say this right here this is obviously sponsored. This episode is sponsored by the family banking and legacy planning service that I actually am doing now. If you're interested in that, you know, feel free. There's a link right down that says send me a message. You can send me a message. Actually in the show notes okay.

Speaker 2:

Make sure let me just say this make sure that if you want to get some more information or learn how this whole family banking concept and legacy planning thing happens, make sure you put a way to get back in that I can get back in touch with you, whether it be your cell phone number or your email address. But I would really love to hear from you and for us to be able to start to talk about these things, be educated about this stuff, right?

Speaker 2:

here, Because, guess what? This is how we're going to. The family is going to help change the world, and I believe that starts with strong fathers, men of God that have a vision for their life. So if you want more information about the Family Bank concept and the legacy planning stuff, that I'm doing.

Speaker 2:

Feel free to reach out to me. You can have my cell phone number, which is 843-457-1286. But, gang, until next time, know that you're blessed, you're highly favored, you're empowered to prosper. You walk in divine help and the spirit of breakthrough is upon you. Gang, we'll catch you on the other side. Oh, I forgot one other thing. Guys, I keep forgetting all I got. I'm going to get better at this, okay. Hey, two calls to action, all right. First call of action. First call of action is do you have a business that you've actually been thinking about or wanting to start for a long time? Do you have that? Is that something that God's actually been thinking about or wanting to start for a long time? Do you have that? Is that something that God's actually put inside of you that you could actually do with your family? I just had a conversation with another gentleman. He's actually going out in the business of his own.

Speaker 2:

He does a whole bunch of organic social media stuff and does some great items with that. Maybe I might bring him on one day. He's actually talking about how he's able to bring his son and his daughter actually involved with all that. There's things that you can do. There's businesses that God has placed inside of you, that he wants you to create. The last call to action that I would have for you guys is, if you got something out of this episode, if this struck a chord with you, share this with just one person. You might have thought about someone that whenever you're listening to this episode man someone still needs to hear this.

Speaker 2:

Pour this along to them. Send this over to them. Tell them hey, I was just thinking about you whenever I heard this. I think it might be a good listen for you. Do that and this will be beneficial for them. So again, know that you're blessed, you're highly favored and you're powered to prosper. You walk in divine health. The spirit of breakthrough is upon you, guys, and the game will catch you on the other side.
