Ep 9 - How to Conquer Implicit Bias
Show Notes

(Note: this episode discusses some topics that may be borderline challenging for younger ears to understand, including examples of common biases in the world and our dance community.  Parents, you may want to listen when the kiddos aren't around.)

Our brains are efficient, squishy little machines that can do amazing things!  But they can also go on autopilot and default to thinking processes that reinforce stereotypes that can hold us back from living in an equitable world where everyone can thrive.

In this episode, we explore my straightforward formula to understand how implicit bias is formed, and how we can rewire our brains away from negative biases and toward positive thought patterns.  We also discuss growing up during the Cold War in the US in the 80s - it'll be flashback time for Gen X!

Working to conquer our individual implicit biases isn't the answer to all of the equity issues we have in the world today, but it's one step we can take individually to make the world a better place.  This episode is my entry as an ally into the conversation, and I hope it proves insightful.  Listen now, and subscribe to keep up with new episodes!
