Thank you for joining us today. We continue studying the attributes of the Holy Spirit from
A-to-Z. Today’s letter is “K” for Keeper.

On March 23, 2025, I celebrated 50 years from the date I committed my life to Jesus Christ—March 23, 1975. That was a half-century ago. We want to encourage you today by letting you know whatever you are going through, Jesus will bring you through. We will share scriptures, some of my personal experiences over the past fifty years, and the rewards of staying committed to the Lord.

Over the past 50 years, Jesus has been with me in countless tests, some great, some small; nevertheless, the Holy Spirit has sustained me through it all. Jesus has never failed me, and as the Word of God says, He never left, nor did He forsake me. Hebrews 13:5. Always remember what the Lord has done for you and will continue to do.

Here are a few of my testimonials that may encourage you.

Are you living with an unsaved spouse? That was me 50 years ago. The Lord saved me from a life of sin and rebellion against Him, but at that time, my husband, Apostle Charles, was a backslider—someone who had once known the Lord but turned away from Him. I shed many tears and prayed mountains of prayers before Charles decided to return to the Ark of Safety. One key thing I share when I tell this story is that I had to release Charles to the Lord and stop trying to reclaim him through my efforts. It takes the Holy Ghost to draw people to Christ, and it takes the Holy Ghost to keep people in Christ. The Holy Ghost is a Keeper.

What about healing? Are you facing a physical, mental, or spiritual challenge that requires the Holy Spirit's help? Jesus healed my back without surgery. The pain was so bad when I would sit, I wept. But one day, suddenly, while praying, the pain was gone. When I got off my knees, the pain was gone, and it has not returned.

What about your children? I prayed countless prayers for my daughters, especially when they needed to be healed. When Cassie was a baby, a crust would cover her eyes. We used ointment, but it would not clear up. We solicited the prayers of the church mothers, and the crusty substance was cleared up soon afterward.

For our other daughter, Dace, it was numerous surgeries we had to pray our way through. God delivered her each time. I even recall a dream I had the night before one of her operations. In that dream, I was in the room during the procedure. I could hear the doctor speaking. When I woke up, I knew Dace’s surgery would be a success.

What about your job situation? Yes, we are living in a day where many people are having their source of income threatened. I was in that predicament a couple of times. On two specific occasions, I was at risk of being terminated from my job as an attorney. But instead of losing hope, I did the “Jericho walk.” I walked around the building where I worked for seven days, just as the Israelites did in Joshua 6:10-16. Because I live an hour away from my place of employment, I had to drive 120 miles roundtrip on two of those seven days. But that is what I did. On day seven, after I marched around the building seven times, I shouted the same way they did on day seven in the Book of Joshua. I didn’t care who saw me or heard me. Of course, I kept my job and retired after 24 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

And concerning Apostle Charles—he had lost a couple of jobs in the course of our marriage, both due to a reduction-in-force (RIF). I finally prayed and asked God to give him a job he could keep. He was hired not long after that prayer by the U.S. Postal Service. More than 2,000 people applied for the job, but he was among those selected. He retired as a supervisor 29 years later.

Back to the discussion on marriage. Yes, our marriage has been in peril more than once, but God delivered us from the snares of the devil who wants to kill, steal, and destroy families. Jesus came to give us abundant life. John 10:10. An abundant life in our health, finances, relationships, and anything you are facing in life.

God has a plan to prosper you if you trust Him and serve Him—Jeremiah 29:11—and there is nothing “Satan-nnnn” can do about it.

Trust God, and, more importantly, trust His Word because He esteems His Word higher than Himself. Psalm 138:2 reads, “I will worship toward your holy temple, and praise your name for your lovingkindness and your truth: for you have magnified your word above all your name.” (KJV Paraphrased).

I’ve only touched on a few things that God has helped me through. There is much more I could discuss, but you get the idea. Whatever you are going through, the Holy Spirit will keep your heart, mind, and soul as you journey through life. Isaiah 41:10 reads, “Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. (KJV paraphrased).

Most of all, remember there are earthly rewards in living for the Lord. When I look back on the fifty years I have served the Lord, I am in awe how He continues to bless my husband and me. But this life cannot be compared to the life we will spend with Him in eternity. The pain of suffering in this life is worth the reward that awaits us. Romans 8:18, reads, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” And one of the most quoted scriptures, “ . . .  [e]ye hasn’t seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him. I Corinthians 2:9

So, let the Holy Spirit be your Keeper through whatever challenges are brought your way. And if you’re not dealing with any obstacles, pray for those who are. And, that they may know Jesus as Savior and Lord if they do not already.

Now, let’s listen as Apostle Charles tells us how you can reach us and access other podcasts on the Holy Spirit.
