Show Notes Transcript

MICHAEL CAMPION stars on the hit Netflix series, FULLER HOUSE in the role of Jackson Fuller, the teen son of DJ Tanner played by Candace Cameron-Bure.

Michael previously starred opposite William Baldwin, Denise Richards and Tom Arnold in the feature film CHRISTMAS TRADE. This busy teen is also one of the stars of ROBO-DOG and the soon to be released ROBO- DOG UNLEASHED where he worked alongside Jonathan Silverman, Patrick Muldoon and Olivia d’Abo. Another early credit was a starring role in the feature film FINDING EDEN.

A veteran of dozens of television commercials and short films, Michael also has a love of the theater. He has appeared in stage productions of THE WIZARD OF OZ, ANNIE and THE LITTLE MERMAID, just to name a few.

When he isn’t working professionally, he enjoys water sports, video games, performing magic tricks and like a typical teenager, hanging out with friends. When not in Los Angeles, Michael lives in Florida with his parents where he is always eager to visit the many theme parks Florida has to offer.

[Music]

00:00

ladies and gentlemen may i give you

00:03

if you will the indisputably

00:07

verisimilitudinous ventriloquial

00:09

virtuosity

00:11

and the flippantly filibustering

00:14

feliciatus frippery

00:16

of the one and only

00:20

nick and russ don't know anything

00:23

podcast

00:26

and hello everybody i am nick and i'm

00:30

russ

00:31

and today we got two special guests we

00:32

got lydia and

00:34

michael campion of fuller house

00:38

well actually it's it's over now right

00:39

so i was yeah

00:41

michael campion of california california

00:45

so he's here today it's still fuller

00:47

house

00:50

it's not like when they ended it they're

00:51

like all right we gotta get rid of

00:53

it now it doesn't exist anymore it's not

00:55

russia they're not just like

00:57

it's not they're not getting rid of the

00:59

whole cast

01:01

yeah yeah yeah yeah so that's cool and

01:03

he's also like a magician

01:04

i hear he's gonna do a few magic tricks

01:06

no i'm kidding anyway but he's like wait

01:08

he's a magician so it's good to have him

01:10

on and uh

01:12

actually i look forward to this

01:13

interview i i did a little research on

01:14

you i don't normally do that this much

01:16

research so

01:16

no he does this was exciting because of

01:18

lydia i had to like be on my game today

01:21

yeah because she she well okay for

01:23

everybody who's listening

01:24

my daughter lydia is uh sitting in on

01:27

the podcast

01:28

she uh earned the right to do this she

01:30

had to clean her room and she jumped to

01:32

that and

01:32

uh cleaned her room so that she could

01:33

interview be part of the interview with

01:35

michael

01:35

and uh she's a huge fuller uh house fan

01:39

uh she started off watching full house

01:42

and then when fuller house started she

01:44

jumped on it and

01:45

was like daddy you got to watch this

01:46

with me so i watched the whole thing

01:47

twice

01:48

oh wow all seasons yeah she it's hard to

01:51

go

01:52

show to watch so i haven't even seen all

01:54

the show so

01:56

that's awesome

01:59

though oh yeah you know so it's yeah

02:02

yeah yeah sometimes well okay

02:04

full disclosure i think i'm on season

02:05

four oh okay

02:08

so you're watching the whole thing

02:09

that's pretty good yeah i want i did

02:11

watch three episodes i watched the

02:13

pilot the one episode like in season

02:16

three

02:16

and then the and then the very the

02:18

finale with the three weddings so that

02:20

was kind of cool

02:21

that was good so i saw those three so i

02:23

figured just

02:24

to at least grasp a little broad range

02:27

right right you got the cliff notes

02:29

you did the cliff notes yeah no perfect

02:31

yeah it's great did you watch full house

02:33

i'm curious

02:34

uh but you know what i never really

02:36

watched it that often but

02:37

i did see a few episodes when i was like

02:39

when i was a teenager when it was out so

02:41

i was just a little bit of it but it was

02:43

always like on friday night and it seems

02:45

like i always was trying to be in

02:46

trouble with my friends on friday night

02:47

versus staying at home so

02:49

so that was a little difficult but i was

02:51

a little bit younger so

02:52

that was our thing to do it was tgif and

02:55

um it was what full house and then

02:59

urkel or something like that good job

03:02

i forgot that one family matters yeah

03:05

family family matters yeah

03:06

and then you had uh the america's most

03:09

funny

03:10

thing is bob's funniest home video

03:12

character yeah yeah yeah yeah

03:14

that's great it was like bob sag at

03:15

night like

03:17

that's hilarious yeah so it is it it was

03:20

a it was

03:20

it was fun times because my family and i

03:22

would sit around and watch it because it

03:23

was uh

03:24

you know something we could do that's

03:26

great anyway all right

03:27

well let's jump into this interview uh

03:29

so uh

03:30

lydia do you want to start off a little

03:32

bit yeah i have a question for you

03:34

michael um

03:35

how do you get into character at in when

03:38

you're

03:38

in fuller house how do i get into

03:41

character um

03:43

you know it's very interesting because

03:45

when i first

03:48

read for jackson i'm like this is so

03:50

incredibly close to my personality

03:52

already it's just like

03:54

it's like in in a sitcom so literally

03:56

literally

03:57

zero prep i go in there and i act like

04:00

just

04:00

30 more goofy as myself um and

04:04

it's great i don't i mean the the

04:07

the load is very very light and it was

04:10

um

04:11

yeah you know sometimes you like oh you

04:12

got to go in jabs with like these

04:13

characters but i mean it's like a sitcom

04:15

so we just

04:16

i i just got a chance to um be goofy and

04:19

be myself so that was great

04:20

that was great awesome awesome

04:23

okay so speaking about like getting into

04:26

character uh

04:27

i i i've listened to a few of your of

04:29

the podcasts that you've been on and i

04:31

love the story

04:32

of how you were casted as jackson

04:36

uh you want to go ahead and kind of like

04:38

tell us that sorry yeah i was casted as

04:40

jackson oh man this is a

04:42

it's a doozy i mean it just it just

04:44

really shows how how like crazy the

04:46

business is and

04:47

how things can change in like two

04:48

seconds but um essentially

04:50

uh uh i'm from orlando and so i um

04:54

got an audition as usual i mean uh i get

04:58

an email

04:58

they have a breakdown of the character

05:00

and what the show is but they didn't

05:01

tell me what the show was it was like

05:02

untitled sitcom

05:04

four and i was like okay so uh i go to

05:06

this place where i normally do

05:08

what we call self tapes where instead of

05:09

going into the room and doing an

05:11

audition

05:12

you um uh you tape your lines and

05:14

another person's on the other side doing

05:15

their lines

05:16

and um i did it i sent it and i was like

05:20

okay i didn't think anything of it

05:22

and then i get a call back which is a

05:24

pretty big deal i mean like hey they

05:26

want to see me again

05:26

awesome and this time they actually gave

05:29

me the name of the show which was

05:31

fuller house and i was like the sequel

05:33

to

05:34

full house okay awesome because i i

05:37

loved i loved

05:38

full house and uh i was i was freaking

05:40

out internally i thought this was great

05:42

and um then i i sent it again then they

05:45

got a third call back

05:47

they're like hey change your clothes

05:48

change your hair like we really like you

05:49

know okay this is going somewhere

05:51

and then all of a sudden um i

05:54

didn't hear anything and it was like

05:56

just dropped off the map

05:58

uh and i was like okay you know you win

06:00

some you lose some i

06:01

you know it's just crazy how this works

06:03

so i go in there like

06:04

for another podcast i go in there for

06:06

another audition entirely something

06:08

completely different

06:09

and they my mom is sitting in the like

06:13

like waiting room of this self tape

06:14

place

06:15

and she gets his email and it's like hey

06:18

uh we actually want to like

06:22

recast this deal because apparently they

06:23

had already cast

06:25

jackson they're like okay uh something's

06:28

not working here

06:29

we want to see michael um tomorrow

06:32

tomorrow uh if he could just you know

06:35

fly out here

06:37

but he's got to do an audition first so

06:38

just like gavin do one more audition

06:40

and then they'll come out here so i'm

06:41

like oh i'm in the middle of doing this

06:43

completely other audition a

06:44

complete separate one go in there change

06:47

my clothes

06:48

do this audition i fly out the next day

06:50

i get there like 7 00 am

06:52

me and my mom this is like the second

06:54

time i've been out in california i'm 12

06:56

at this point

06:57

and we get picked up in a limo from

07:01

um uh the airport we get

07:04

driven all the way to uh warner brothers

07:06

studios at like

07:08

7 a.m and uh it was it was just a wild

07:11

experience because the place wasn't even

07:13

open that like the casting office but we

07:15

were there so early from our flight

07:17

so we just like they they let us use the

07:20

employee break room so for me to like

07:22

get ready and do stuff

07:23

until stuff is open so i'm sitting there

07:24

for several hours um

07:26

and then eventually a lady comes by and

07:28

i i go into the back room

07:31

and in this room it's this like dimly

07:35

lit

07:36

uh it it's it's a it's a rather small

07:39

broom but it's got all these like rows

07:40

of people

07:41

and i can barely make out their faces

07:43

because there's all these lights on me

07:45

um and i was like i felt like i was

07:47

being judged very harsh like this is

07:48

everyone this is everyone who's gonna

07:50

cast me right now if this happens

07:52

um and uh i thought i did a good job

07:54

there was one other kid there who went

07:56

in

07:56

and um then uh the

08:00

lady came outside after we we were done

08:03

and was like hey

08:04

michael uh could you come back and we

08:05

need to tell you your hotel information

08:07

and

08:08

she told the other kid that he could go

08:10

i was like okay

08:11

so me not knowing anything i go i go in

08:14

there and everyone's like in this circle

08:16

and there's like this camera on me and

08:18

like what's going on and it's me my mom

08:20

and um they're like uh

08:24

well michael you know a little bit of

08:27

magic happen today congratulations

08:29

uh you [ __ ] the role and i was like

08:30

whoa what so there was like right in the

08:32

room i had

08:33

zero time to do anything okay here's the

08:36

script

08:36

we're shooting tomorrow you're cutting

08:37

your hair and you're gonna be out here

08:39

for three weeks for the first

08:41

uh three episodes since we have a hiatus

08:42

so i was like holy mackerel and

08:45

um that literally 180 in

08:49

like 24 hours so uh that was crazy

08:52

so the the next day i got up i didn't

08:55

have any rehearsal time because they

08:56

were already

08:57

two days into rehearsal the rehearsal

08:59

days were already out i was there

09:00

shooting

09:01

so got my lines first scene was like

09:04

with john stamos and i was like oh wow

09:07

wow wow wow

09:08

so yeah it was great it was really uh a

09:11

life-changing life-changing moment for

09:13

sure

09:14

and and uh it it happened around your

09:17

birthday didn't it

09:18

oh that's right yes that's that's

09:20

totally forgot man that slipped right in

09:22

my mind

09:22

yes it was the week of my birthday that

09:25

i got i i got this uh

09:29

show so quite the best that's awesome we

09:31

have done so much

09:32

research on you uh nick when's his

09:35

birthday

09:36

july 26 2002. i mean i'm telling you i

09:38

haven't produced or sending any of the

09:40

other guests

09:41

so you're 19 years old in a month how do

09:43

you feel

09:44

we're slightly stalking you right now

09:47

you know what hey that's all good

09:49

no i saw there was like something on i

09:51

think it was on youtube or something and

09:52

i saw

09:52

you and your dad were like in a medieval

09:54

times costume or something

09:56

was it like a renaissance fair or i

09:59

don't know

10:00

when i don't know well someone older i'm

10:02

assuming it was your dad but

10:04

you're like in a medieval times costume

10:06

or something was it a play

10:08

because you do was it like a play maybe

10:09

maybe it was a play oh

10:11

yeah yeah yeah that was definitely yeah

10:13

it was just like it was like recent

10:14

you think or no like a long time ago

10:17

okay so i was very little

10:18

yeah you were like six or seven maybe

10:20

gotcha yeah then i've been yeah yeah it

10:22

was like a night costume was with me and

10:23

my me and my dad

10:24

um yeah okay yeah yeah it seemed to be

10:28

like your dad so but i don't know

10:29

yeah yeah so yeah that's that's funny

10:31

that we have a lot of costumes

10:33

okay so like my mom like designs

10:35

costumes and stuff and so like

10:37

every halloween will like go out as

10:40

like a big like high quality super

10:43

production value family costume and it's

10:46

baller every year like we we go to

10:48

disney um they're like halloween event

10:51

and oh man it's awesome so yeah that's

10:53

like our favorite thing to do together

10:54

as a family oh wow tell us more about i

10:56

mean this is kind of interesting now

10:57

like you go to halloween and uh

10:58

disney i mean in disney world right yeah

11:02

everybody's already dressed i'm assuming

11:04

there but right right

11:05

disney characters but if you guys go

11:07

like others then that would be

11:08

interesting too right

11:09

so yeah yeah so so what happens is um

11:11

they have this event called mickey's not

11:13

so scary

11:14

and um when i was uh i think

11:17

five like we started this tradition to

11:19

where we would start going every year as

11:21

a family

11:21

and my and and my mom was it was me my

11:24

sister

11:25

uh my dad my mom and we would um but

11:28

it started like when we started doing

11:30

like group costumes i was probably like

11:32

seven or eight like the very first one

11:33

was like alice in wonderland i was the

11:34

mad hatter

11:35

uh there was other stuff but but before

11:37

then it was like miscellaneous like we

11:38

were just like medieval

11:39

things uh but yeah like uh oh my gosh we

11:42

had

11:42

we had some killer costumes like like my

11:45

mom

11:45

really goes all out every single time

11:47

and sometimes i'll bring my

11:49

my best friend and also roommate here uh

11:51

to to go with me

11:52

um and we just have a great time like we

11:54

dress up and everyone is like

11:56

hey can we take pictures with you

11:58

because they think that we work there

11:59

and like that's our goal every time

12:01

we're like we have we have people who

12:03

work there going like

12:04

hey sorry but like you can't take

12:06

pictures with people because like

12:08

you know it's so quality we're like

12:09

that's our goal every year we want

12:10

someone to come up to us because it's so

12:12

good

12:13

to say you can't take pictures with

12:15

people so it was great

12:17

yeah we we do a lot of con conventions

12:20

and we do cosplay and so we took lydia

12:24

when she was what four yeah four years

12:27

old to her first comic con

12:29

and she dressed up as batgirl and so

12:32

think about this little four-year-old

12:33

adorable girl pigtails everyone

12:37

was taking pictures with her everyone

12:39

like she

12:40

like grown adults kids everybody they

12:42

just like because she's the littlest kid

12:43

like there and she was having and she we

12:46

won a prize because she was dressed up

12:48

like they gave us these um

12:50

authorized set photos from star wars

12:53

like from the 70s the original like so

12:56

we have these original like

12:57

lucas you know authenticated set photos

13:00

that were really cool so

13:02

wow hey how fun is that starting again

13:04

get them in early yeah exactly

13:08

the with the cape i don't know that

13:09

story what are you doing like i don't

13:11

remember where you coming

13:11

when okay when when i cosplay i

13:14

cosplayed as batgirl one more time

13:16

and um every every time someone tried to

13:19

take a picture with me i would always

13:20

put my cape over my

13:21

over my face

13:26

she has these poses she would do all

13:28

these poses when she was a kid

13:31

that's funny i'm actually feeling like

13:33

very

13:34

young right now thank you michael

13:35

actually you're bringing like all the

13:37

youth here

13:39

i'm next to being 12 again this is like

13:40

really awesome

13:42

you're you're an expert on disney world

13:44

all right when's a good time to go

13:46

because we don't want to go

13:48

when like the huge crowds are yeah oh

13:50

dude you do not want to go right now it

13:52

is the middle of summer

13:53

uh it is hot as heck um

13:57

no my favorite time to go is definitely

13:58

during like the winter because it is

14:01

um uh like january because

14:04

it's like right after like like like

14:06

like christmas is over and the crowd's

14:08

like

14:08

okay we're done now um and it's just

14:11

like

14:12

cool enough to where you don't want to

14:13

die and uh

14:16

yeah so like like january is like the

14:18

the time to go

14:19

january yeah because i told my wife we

14:21

should go during christmas

14:22

and she's like are they even open during

14:24

christmas like well yes they're open

14:25

during christmas

14:26

um but you don't want to go you don't

14:29

yeah it's probably super packed yeah

14:31

yeah yeah it's ridiculous you probably

14:33

can't get on any rides and

14:34

yeah yeah so what we want to do is like

14:37

in two years we're gonna go

14:38

uh and we're gonna do everything we're

14:41

gonna do like the star wars we're gonna

14:42

do

14:43

even go to universal studios to do the

14:45

harry potter stuff so yeah yeah

14:47

yeah okay so getting a full like orlando

14:50

experience

14:50

well we went a few years ago when she

14:53

was

14:54

in 2014 to disneyland and we took her

14:57

and

14:57

her brother you know he's four he hasn't

14:59

seen any disney stuff so we got to take

15:01

him

15:02

now and we figure we'll go disney world

15:04

this time uh so we went

15:06

you know west coast and then we go east

15:07

coast so oh that's great yeah i mean i i

15:10

grew up at

15:10

disney my mom she's she used to be a

15:13

fairy godmother

15:14

there uh so she worked i'd get in all

15:17

the time

15:18

yeah i know that i know a place like

15:19

back my hand so yeah you guys will have

15:20

a great time

15:22

did you ever get to go to the

15:23

underground city no no that's only for

15:25

like cast members

15:26

unfortunately yeah i would have loved

15:28

you my mom did though

15:30

my mom has yes that she clocked in there

15:32

like your mom was a fairy godmother

15:33

that's like

15:34

so okay so so i i i just say i just say

15:37

the fairy godmother because it's harder

15:38

to explain but there's this place inside

15:40

the

15:41

inside the the castle itself called the

15:43

bibbidi-bobbidi boutique and it's like

15:45

where all the like

15:46

little girls get like transformed and

15:48

they have like princess outfits and

15:49

everything

15:49

and so she worked as one of those people

15:51

who who did that but they're called

15:52

fairy godmothers

15:54

but for people like who i just say in

15:55

conversation yeah she's a fairy

15:56

godmother just to not explain all that

15:58

but that's like awesome though oh yeah

16:01

oh yeah no it's it's awesome and and now

16:04

um yeah she she's still doing that so

16:06

it's great yeah it's a great time did

16:08

you besides

16:09

posing did you get any trouble while you

16:11

were at disney world

16:13

did i get any trouble do a little

16:15

mischief stuff you know

16:16

a little bit of mischief yeah you know i

16:19

i go there often enough

16:20

to where uh yeah definitely mischief um

16:23

there's a place called tom sawyer's

16:24

island like like smack dab in the middle

16:26

of the

16:27

place um and it's like this big old like

16:30

playground thing with all these like

16:31

caves and stuff

16:32

that was my favorite place to go i

16:35

remember when i was

16:36

i was little i was i was being a little

16:38

booger and i was like going around the

16:39

corner and like scaring people because

16:40

it was like these like dark

16:42

he's like he's like dark corners and

16:43

stuff people were already freaked out

16:44

because they're like in a cave

16:45

oh that was being so annoying uh yeah no

16:48

no like crazy trouble but just like

16:49

stupid stuff like that with me like i

16:51

always

16:52

i would always when i was littler i

16:54

would always scare my brother like that

16:56

i would hide by the doorway and when he

16:58

was walking by i just

16:59

grab his leg like casually like it's so

17:02

much fun isn't it it's like

17:03

yeah it's like we still

17:07

scare each other this family is uh

17:10

how bad can we scare you oh dude that's

17:12

hilarious

17:13

if you could scream and throw stuff

17:15

we've we've succeeded i don't want to be

17:18

in your house now russ

17:20

well guess what nick we do it at other

17:22

people's houses too oh okay

17:24

yeah we can bring the scare to you just

17:27

ban them from every house like okay all

17:29

right bye-bye

17:30

um yeah it's funny i actually i love it

17:33

so much that i was a scarector

17:35

like like one of those guys that pop out

17:36

at you at like um

17:38

uh uh like those like haunted houses uh

17:40

i got a chance to do that that was

17:41

really cool

17:42

um oh man this just the just the

17:45

thrill of scaring someone is so funny i

17:49

love it yeah

17:50

i did a hayride haunted house one time i

17:53

was a character

17:54

and it was the only one i ever did

17:55

because uh it was outside and everything

17:58

like that there was no like

17:59

the the group that i was in we were

18:01

supposed to run at the uh

18:03

the hayride and so i like the last

18:07

hayride was coming out i ran

18:09

i tripped and i slid

18:12

on the gravel but it didn't stop me i

18:14

still acted like i was trying to get

18:16

there

18:17

and i get up and i'm showing my hands

18:18

and my hands are bleeding and people are

18:20

freaking out now my hands are really

18:21

bleeding like they're not

18:22

it's not makeup or anything and i'm

18:24

still scaring people and they're

18:26

freaking out and then afterwards and

18:27

they're like

18:28

they're like wow you you took a tumble

18:30

there and i was like i know what i did

18:31

like

18:32

and they're like you were committed and

18:33

i was like that's the life of the

18:35

thespian you know

18:38

just gone to the hospital but

18:42

all right so okay speaking of this man

18:45

you are you

18:45

got your start in theater and so um

18:49

tell us about some of the uh productions

18:51

you've done

18:53

some of the productions i've done um

18:55

well when i was

18:57

five i started uh doing like community

18:59

theater

19:00

um nothing crazy uh the most recent

19:03

thing i did i was in a

19:05

play uh called snow white christmas and

19:08

they like um

19:09

uh it's called a panto

19:12

i'm not sure if you're familiar with

19:14

that at all but it's like where the

19:15

audience

19:15

can interact with the with the stage and

19:18

stuff and it's like a seasonal thing

19:19

over here

19:20

um that was really cool i got to be is

19:22

that in l.a or where was so yeah it was

19:24

in

19:24

um uh it was in north carolina it was in

19:27

raleigh and then it was also here for

19:29

half of it so

19:30

that was that was great but um yeah i

19:32

haven't done theater in a long time i

19:34

mean when i was

19:35

little i did like man so many

19:37

productions i can't even count like

19:39

uh classic stuff i mean like i was the

19:41

scarecrow wizard of oz

19:43

uh aladdin all like the disney princess

19:45

stuff cinderella

19:47

um and then i did a few things for like

19:50

at the time where like my church and all

19:52

that where i was uh

19:54

um it was like this big old like

19:56

broadway style production like

19:57

it sat like 5000 people which was like

20:00

my very first experience like

20:01

oh this is like this like a big thing uh

20:04

it was like sold out

20:05

almost every night it was great it's

20:07

called the singing christmas trees

20:09

uh did you play a christmas tree i did

20:12

not play christmas tree i was actually

20:13

the main character in that one but

20:15

okay the main character is not christmas

20:16

tree okay no no yeah so the the deal is

20:18

that there's

20:19

there's these two giant christmas trees

20:21

that have like quiet that like like

20:22

choir

20:23

people in there and then they're like

20:26

the choir in the trees and they say and

20:27

it's great

20:28

yeah yeah do you sing uh i

20:31

i mean yeah i do but not like

20:34

i i i wouldn't say like i'm a singer i i

20:37

can sing

20:38

in these productions but like i don't

20:40

love to sing yet

20:42

i cannot uh when i was in theater my

20:44

musical director told me not to sing

20:46

during the because i was in the chorus

20:50

you're tone deaf and i was like okay he

20:53

goes just mouth the words no one will

20:55

know

20:56

that's hilarious yeah that is very

20:58

hilarious

20:59

well my wife my daughter can sing i

21:01

can't like you know

21:02

i can draw i can do the art stuff they

21:04

can sing i can sing horribly too so it's

21:07

all good

21:08

don't worry about that well there you go

21:10

yeah so the three of us combined we may

21:12

form one singer like just we might be

21:14

able to i think so

21:15

it might be good let's see i'm gonna

21:17

bring it down

21:20

i sound like i'm strangling a goose

21:23

you know hey sometimes i don't know hey

21:26

don't worry about it

21:27

we'll figure it out i'll just mouth the

21:29

words okay i speak the song i'll mouth

21:31

the word so awesome oh yeah that's funny

21:33

why don't we take a little break and

21:34

then when we get back we can talk a

21:36

little bit about

21:36

magic i think this is fun so yeah we'll

21:39

talk a little bit more about fuller

21:40

house and magic all right here we go

21:43

hello all my name is amber and to put it

21:46

lightly

21:47

i love to read i also happen to love

21:50

podcasts

21:51

and so i've decided to combine these two

21:53

loves and share them with all of you in

21:55

my bite-sized

21:56

bi-weekly book review podcast the book

21:58

nerd diaries

22:00

where every other friday i talk about

22:02

the latest book i've crossed off of my

22:04

endless to read list

22:05

and just generally act like the major

22:07

nerd i am

22:08

whether you're a bookworm like me or are

22:11

looking to get back into reading

22:13

i invite you to head on over to spotify

22:15

apple podcasts or your favorite podcast

22:18

app

22:18

and subscribe to the bookmark diaries

22:20

today i promise you won't regret it

22:22

thank you and i'll see you there soon

22:26

actually this is the first time i've

22:27

heard of book nerd diaries i don't even

22:29

know we make him from but

22:30

anyway we play that we've played that ad

22:32

a few times have we i don't remember

22:33

anyway

22:34

it's a while ago a lot of times well

22:37

good

22:37

so we are back and welcome back michael

22:40

campion of fuller house

22:42

and magic castle so what is the magic

22:45

castle i have no idea what that is

22:47

first of all let's start there castle

22:48

okay are you uh you guys where are you

22:51

based i'm curious

22:52

uh we're in texas i'm in michigan i used

22:55

to live in texas though so

22:56

okay that's how i met russ gotcha okay

22:59

but i used to live in los

23:00

angeles too for a very long time so oh

23:02

okay i'm familiar with the scene there

23:03

and everything but

23:04

i'm just not familiar with magic castle

23:06

so that's yeah that's new to me so

23:09

yeah so in in hollywood there's this

23:11

place um

23:12

it's this uh mansion looking thing this

23:15

old victorian mansion

23:16

on this hill and um uh it's called the

23:19

magic castle

23:20

uh it's like a private club for

23:22

magicians and

23:23

uh it's also a magic venue

23:27

where there's like inside it's these um

23:30

oh my gosh just all these like beautiful

23:32

rooms it's so

23:33

uh old and

23:36

uh it's so cool inside i wish you guys

23:38

could just like look up a picture of it

23:40

because it's it's awesome

23:41

um but essentially yeah i perform magic

23:44

there i'm a junior

23:45

oh yeah no no you're fine you

23:48

keep talking but i'm here i'm about to

23:50

go oh okay oh awesome

23:52

okay great yeah this is this is the

23:53

magic castle um

23:56

super cool uh i i always equate it to

23:59

like a comedy

24:01

um venue where there's all these like

24:03

different rooms and all these different

24:04

performers going

24:05

uh each night but i usually perform on

24:07

on the weekends i'm a junior member

24:09

there

24:10

and um yeah there's like a very specific

24:12

dress code you have to know a magician

24:14

to to to get in like in the first place

24:17

to be invited

24:18

um yeah it's super exclusive and i i

24:21

love it i mean it's

24:22

like my side gig uh very very close to

24:26

my main gig i mean this is what i do

24:28

uh professionally and it's wonderful i

24:31

love taking people

24:32

here that's awesome so you can

24:35

come over then right sorry go ahead russ

24:38

no go ahead so you can invite guests to

24:41

come over

24:41

and watch you perform is that what that

24:43

is or right yeah so

24:45

you have to know a member of the magic

24:47

castle to even be invited

24:48

in so um uh yeah i'll take

24:52

like my friends there and stuff like

24:54

we'll go to the magic castle just have a

24:56

magic castle night go see whoever's

24:58

performing there uh but yeah

25:00

yeah yeah i get to perform on the

25:01

weekends um the

25:03

the normal like monday through friday is

25:06

uh 21 and up um because it's all dinner

25:09

but i perform like brunch

25:10

because i'm not 21. and we're like the

25:14

the the junior member private

25:17

society program type deal so yeah that's

25:19

great so do you do

25:20

card tracks like what's your biggest

25:22

thing

25:24

well right now

25:32

yeah so um i have a i have a um

25:36

close-up show at the magic castle right

25:37

now but i'm working on a stage show

25:39

so that'll be happening soon once things

25:41

open up uh but yeah i mean i

25:43

it was strange because i was i just got

25:46

to be a member in 2018 like like late

25:48

2018

25:49

i went back to florida and then uh

25:52

2019 i was doing fuller house the whole

25:54

time so like i i got to go to the magic

25:56

castle and perform

25:58

sometimes but not all the time and then

26:00

when 2020 hit then i was like boom

26:02

it's all gone for now uh so i've only

26:05

been

26:05

like yeah it disappeared unfortunately

26:07

uh but we're making rape here very soon

26:09

and

26:10

uh i didn't get a chance to like go and

26:12

perform there

26:13

uh so it's been a long like dry dry

26:16

stretch of magic but i would have been

26:18

like performing stage and close-up and

26:20

stuff right now but

26:21

uh yeah mostly cards um stage is what i

26:24

want to get into

26:25

mostly nice i love the fact that there's

26:28

some rules like

26:29

no cell phones and see okay i found out

26:32

i found out about this i can't even like

26:34

tape them

26:35

no no no no like you'll have the big

26:38

bouncer guy come and

26:39

you know removed what a shame that's

26:41

okay all right well that's good well you

26:42

don't want to give away the

26:43

the that's true and plus you want to

26:45

like enjoy the show

26:47

that's the other thing yeah you don't

26:48

want everybody doing your tricks

26:50

yeah so i didn't know this existed until

26:52

i watched the series love on netflix

26:54

oh yeah they went to the magic castle

26:56

and i was like is this a real place and

26:57

i went to look it up and i was like oh

26:58

it is a real place

27:00

because it just was funny because it's

27:01

like it's you know the secret club kind

27:03

of thing you know where

27:04

only magicians can invite you yeah and

27:06

uh yeah so uh

27:08

so okay do you let kids in that at any

27:11

time to this like i know you said

27:12

there's

27:14

yeah yeah so uh the the weekdays it's

27:16

just dinner and that's 21 and up but the

27:19

weekends is brunch and uh yeah anyone

27:22

can go there it's uh yeah so that's

27:25

typically

27:25

when pointing one another if when we

27:28

come out there

27:29

can we get a hookup a hundred percent

27:32

yeah

27:34

we're in we're in the magic castle now

27:37

yeah uh you guys got to come

27:38

when i'm performing of course so yeah

27:40

yeah of course yeah yeah

27:42

yeah we'll be well can we scream or

27:44

anything like that or just like oh yeah

27:45

oh yeah okay i know you had to be quiet

27:48

do it like a golf club

27:50

no no it's not that secret it's not good

27:52

yeah no it's a great time

27:54

and and do we have to like do you have

27:56

to sign waivers like we will not talk

27:57

about this whatsoever

27:58

so i'm gonna make a prediction i have a

28:00

feeling you're going to have a show

28:02

in vegas doing magic and i would not be

28:04

opposed to that

28:05

that's that's what i'm just saying

28:06

because if you're getting trained here

28:08

i mean that's a good start right man

28:10

people from the junior program are doing

28:12

crazy stuff like

28:14

um lots of america's got talent stuff uh

28:17

i don't know if you know like like like

28:18

penn and teller

28:19

uh a lot of guys what's that

28:22

we love pinon teller love penn and

28:24

taylor i'm sure that you've i mean if

28:25

you've seen um fool us

28:26

a lot of magic castle guys were on there

28:29

um i know

28:30

i like i know really really big names in

28:32

magic because they all go to the magic

28:34

castle so that's cool

28:35

yeah definitely vegas people too when i

28:37

was about her

28:39

age or a couple years older i the only

28:41

magician i ever saw like that was huge

28:43

was david copperfield okay that was

28:45

amazing

28:46

what he came to my hometown which well

28:49

not my hometown the hometown the town

28:51

beside us

28:52

which was bigger and um and i

28:55

and what happened was is there some mix

28:57

up with the tickets

28:59

and so my mom we got to sit my sister

29:01

and i got to sit in the front row

29:03

and my mom had to go sit like several

29:05

rows back yeah and

29:07

because they like somehow double booked

29:08

or whatever but they kept

29:10

a few of the seats in the front so we

29:12

were like right there that's crazy

29:14

watching david copperfield did they make

29:15

your town disappear like what did they

29:17

do i don't even i don't know i mean if

29:18

he can make the statue of liberty

29:19

despair i imagine he could

29:21

take a count of 150 000 people make it

29:23

disappear yeah yeah he probably did

29:25

it's all good he makes everything

29:26

disappear and then reappear

29:28

so that's good okay real quick like

29:30

total connection

29:31

so where i'm from is the same city uh

29:34

that elvis got to start in and you sir

29:38

did an elvis thing didn't you when you

29:40

were young

29:41

yeah i did i was i was three and um

29:45

i did like this halloween costume

29:47

competition uh

29:49

and i ended up like winning the entire

29:52

thing

29:52

because i loved it so much apparently

29:55

and i was being super extroverted and

29:57

like i don't know i was like we were

29:58

like working the judges and stuff

30:00

so uh yeah yeah that was fun i don't

30:02

remember any of it but i have pictures

30:04

so

30:04

it was fun yeah and i also like found

30:07

out through the internet of course

30:09

because it's a beautiful

30:10

and google um that you love

30:13

marvel comics and you want to be like in

30:15

a movie ever so

30:16

that would be oh yeah ask that question

30:18

what we had that question

30:20

oh sorry lydia i don't know you had a

30:22

question russ no it's fine

30:24

so lydia go ahead and ask your question

30:28

do you have one okay so you she wanted

30:31

to know uh go ahead

30:33

marvel do you do you like anime

30:36

if so what are your favorites twilight

30:39

anime if someone are my favorites um

30:42

and and she wanted to ask you about

30:44

marvel too she's just

30:45

kind of looking down also marvel

30:47

character um yes i

30:49

i do like anime i'm not like super into

30:51

it but um i'd say

30:53

my my top three um

30:57

uh attack on titan uh soul eater sorta

31:00

online i like a lot of like

31:02

studio ghibli movies um that's cool

31:05

uh i don't know are you an anime i feel

31:08

like

31:09

chess okay i know of it because my

31:12

brother

31:13

like watches it a lot but i have i have

31:15

no idea what you just said right now

31:17

michael about those gotcha

31:18

yeah right but yeah i know it's it's it

31:20

exists in its own like little pockets

31:22

right yeah um yeah but for marvel

31:25

character my favorite marvel character

31:26

this is a good question uh

31:30

i want to say either

31:34

peter parker or star-lord uh

31:37

probably parker okay yes the spider-man

31:40

yeah yeah

31:41

they both know what you would make a

31:43

great spider-man after seeing you know

31:45

toby mcguire you know all those movies

31:47

they rebooted for the fourth total

31:49

right i could totally see him taking

31:51

over the franchise

31:52

that would be awesome all right i'd love

31:54

that okay hey warner

31:56

i don't know who has the who has i don't

31:58

know well sony has star and

32:00

sony has uh spider-man with like and

32:03

they kind of

32:03

marvel helps him but sony owns it

32:05

because what happened was is it

32:07

if it wasn't for spider-man toby maguire

32:08

spider-man we wouldn't have any of this

32:10

okay because x-men had came out years

32:13

before and it didn't do

32:14

what they needed to do sony came out

32:16

with uh

32:17

spider-man after 2001 and it just

32:20

blew up and marvel sold almost all of

32:23

their stuff like

32:24

just like here we go and all these

32:26

studios were buying it up

32:28

and but they weren't doing it properly

32:30

like and so

32:31

when marvel was able to get some start

32:33

getting some of the stuff back after

32:34

iron man because iron man was the one

32:35

that brought it back to show that

32:37

you could do this properly right now you

32:40

know now and then disney owns everything

32:42

and we're back to disney again back to

32:44

disney again uh yeah they have taken

32:45

over they are slowly consuming every

32:48

single

32:50

everyone oh no it's all disney now she's

32:53

got another question for you

32:54

okay do you watch the new uh the new

32:56

loki show

32:57

have you started it i haven't seen it is

33:00

it any good

33:01

oh yes it's definitely it's very good

33:03

definitely what show is this again

33:05

loki loki they got a new series marvel

33:09

on disney plus it's called loki

33:10

is that like animated no no no it's live

33:13

action it's uh tom middleton

33:15

recovery uh we uh does areas back as his

33:18

role as loki

33:18

okay so that's great i gotta i gotta

33:21

give it like like a fair try

33:23

yeah okay did you watch uh captain

33:26

america

33:26

or not captain america but falcon the

33:28

winner soldier yes yes that one and in

33:30

one division

33:31

um so good one of israel's great

33:34

we've got to get you disney plus oh god

33:36

oh yes all right no i don't want to do

33:38

another stream i have

33:39

i'm stream serviced out at the moment so

33:42

let me

33:42

let me get through the shows that i need

33:44

to finish because i am like way behind

33:46

and then then i'll then i'll re let me

33:49

let me get rid of two streaming services

33:51

before i get another one how does that

33:52

sound

33:53

because i feel like i'm every time i

33:55

turn around i gotta

33:56

i gotta join another streaming service

33:58

it's like it's weird so

33:59

you know okay if they do a trillion if

34:01

they do a third one of this series i

34:03

think you should be on this one this

34:04

movie

34:05

now now you see me oh dude that's one of

34:08

my favorite movies ever it is

34:10

it is so good yeah it's got you know how

34:12

do you have someone i've seen the first

34:13

one with morgan freeman right and justin

34:16

eisenberg yeah yeah yeah all right yeah

34:18

it's got yeah and then woody harrison

34:20

as well and like you know the they are

34:23

connors but also

34:24

you know magicians and it's so good it

34:26

was so good we saw the first one in the

34:28

theater and then the second one on

34:29

streaming

34:30

oh my gosh amazing that's a that's a

34:32

great movie and it's it's

34:33

interesting because i also am like super

34:36

fascinated in

34:37

um like the

34:40

like hacking i i i i it's a as a bit of

34:43

a layman's term but

34:44

um i i really like

34:48

information security in that department

34:50

where like deals with people

34:52

and uh and like how people get like

34:55

socially engineered to like give up

34:56

passwords and things like through emails

34:58

and like in person and

35:00

all that yeah yeah yeah for example if

35:03

you get a quiz and it's like

35:04

your first your middle name your dog and

35:07

your favorite food

35:08

what are those and that'll be your

35:10

superhero name it's like

35:12

what's your question yeah that's what

35:14

those are your security questions of

35:15

people not

35:16

realizing that and i'm like don't answer

35:17

those questions people and they're like

35:19

no this is a fun game i'm like okay you

35:22

know but i haven't

35:23

been a victim of that too though you

35:25

know where i answered what my street

35:27

was and all that but you know what it's

35:29

like how are they gonna know but then

35:30

it's like it dawned on me

35:32

you know like how sometimes when you go

35:33

fill out an application online for a

35:35

financial thing

35:36

and then they ask you like these

35:37

questions did you ever live on this

35:38

street did you

35:39

you know what i mean i'm like oh like

35:41

that's how they'll know

35:42

like that's kind of weird so yeah that's

35:44

how they get you i mean i've been in a

35:45

computer since i was

35:47

like four my dad got me early on he was

35:50

huge in the computers and

35:51

and i remember when i was graduating

35:52

high school i i kind of dabbled in

35:54

like hacking a little bit and i had the

35:57

marines and the navy fighting over

35:59

trying to recruit me

36:00

and so i i didn't i wasn't going to go

36:02

into the military but i was having fun

36:03

with them

36:04

like every week they would call me to

36:05

see if they can get me to do something

36:06

and i'll be like well the navy offered

36:08

me this and the marines were like don't

36:09

go to the navy there

36:10

and then they would say that back and i

36:13

don't see you as a marine russell i'm

36:15

sorry

36:15

or well i wouldn't have been in i would

36:17

have been you know on the computers

36:20

because i was saying i'm like dude you

36:22

would not survive i know i would not

36:25

i told them i said i don't want to go

36:26

fight and they're like you don't have to

36:27

you would be behind the computers and

36:28

doing you know hacking can you imagine

36:30

me and hell week

36:31

oh my god absolutely not

36:35

i would be dead after day one so yeah

36:38

you'd be like where's my latte

36:42

so okay so what are some of the you know

36:44

yeah i i i see you branching out you

36:46

know like

36:47

going and doing like a horror film like

36:49

quiet place three

36:50

i don't know oh yeah how tall are you

36:53

are you really tall now or i don't even

36:54

know

36:55

so i'm five ten not really i have ten

36:57

okay okay

36:58

that's the that's the about average

37:00

height that you need for an actor like

37:01

they don't want you super tall because

37:02

then they have to

37:03

build the sets taller yeah no i'm not

37:06

kidding that's that's that's the thing

37:07

you're kidding i didn't know that wait

37:08

no like

37:09

i'm not confused actually it's like a

37:11

thing there's a lot of

37:12

people in l.a i don't know what you're

37:14

talking about pin uh

37:16

is it the tall one pendant now i can't

37:17

think of their pin and teller

37:19

yeah uh pins the tall one right he talks

37:22

about this like how he used to not get

37:24

casted

37:25

and stuff because he's so tall and they

37:27

would have to build like

37:28

you know they like because we they did

37:30

his head interesting okay they don't

37:31

have ceilings like they don't have

37:33

you know things like that so they would

37:34

have to build stuff like that because he

37:36

came

37:36

past the door like sometimes the door

37:38

thing yeah he's like he's like super

37:39

tall but if i was like like one or two

37:41

more inches i'd be like okay like this

37:42

is this is good i'm max

37:44

now but you're taller than tom cruise

37:47

but you know shorter than uh pin so sure

37:50

yeah i have never seen top cruise up

37:52

close because i keep thinking

37:54

so i don't know i can't really judge but

37:56

but i've seen ben stiller up close

37:58

and he's like my height so that's kind

38:01

of good if you look up

38:02

leading men in high like the average is

38:05

around

38:05

five six five eight no really yeah

38:08

yeah look at that yeah no one's no

38:11

leading man's like

38:12

not not no very few are over six feet

38:15

that's not

38:16

then that did not cross my mind honestly

38:20

ever

38:21

once like i i heard some like weird

38:22

things about guys being short like

38:24

leading men but i didn't know it was

38:25

like average that's crazy i don't know i

38:26

want you to be like

38:27

james franco stop growing you got the

38:29

long hair now

38:30

sorry go ahead i keep talking about you

38:33

russ it's okay

38:34

i said don't grow anymore you're at the

38:36

perfect height you'll be fine

38:38

okay don't have another growth

38:41

well i mean boys men stopped growing

38:43

around 19. so

38:45

yeah yeah yeah so i'm i'm good here i

38:47

want to get taller but

38:49

that's all right well there's surgery

38:50

that's going to happen i'm 50 now

38:52

so it's all good anyway but um anyway i

38:55

got to tell you

38:55

i love like your look now i love the

38:57

long hair i totally see you in like a

38:59

james franco movie maybe pineapple

39:01

express two

39:02

with seth james franco's not doing too

39:04

well why what is it what's going on

39:06

what's wrong with him now

39:07

well uh he has allegations against him

39:10

so let's move past

39:11

he does oh okay i'm sorry

39:14

i'm sorry there's another metoo movement

39:16

situation

39:17

yeah i had no idea all right so let's

39:21

yeah all right is there anybody that you

39:25

would love to work with like

39:26

you know on a project or anything like

39:28

oh i would love to do that

39:30

any one person i'd love to work with i

39:31

have a list of actors i would

39:33

i mean i love but um ones i'd love to

39:36

work with oh gosh

39:37

that's like hard to pick one um uh

39:40

you're gonna get you're gonna be next to

39:41

somebody soon i think anyway and you're

39:43

gonna be like oh my god i can't believe

39:44

i just worked with him or her and you're

39:45

gonna be like oh my god wow

39:47

so that's right do you ever get that

39:48

feeling when you're next to somebody

39:50

who's like

39:51

you know uh up there on your list like

39:53

if you're at an uh

39:54

some kind of gala do you oh do you nerd

39:56

out let me tell you i was nerding out so

39:58

hard the other day it was ridiculous i

40:00

i was at um like a good event it's

40:02

called race to erase ms and

40:04

uh yes exactly a gala and i heard that

40:07

john berthanol

40:08

was there the guy who plays the punisher

40:09

and i was like oh my gosh this

40:12

is the coolest thing i've ever and i

40:14

didn't didn't see him then

40:15

get a chance to take a picture with him

40:16

but i knew he was within like 30 feet of

40:19

me and i was like

40:20

this is dope so um yeah i was definitely

40:23

nerding it out because of that

40:25

yeah yeah he was at a con that we were

40:27

at and he was 30 feet away from us and

40:29

uh and he's not a very tall gentleman

40:31

either

40:37

i'm oh alienate all these uh uh lady

40:40

actors and they're like we're not coming

40:41

on your podcast next week we want

40:42

all the dwarves all right let's see the

40:45

other

40:46

so uh well you know it's a good segment

40:48

to do

40:49

here we go what's something new you know

40:53

[Music]

40:56

that's our segment like way to put us on

40:59

the spot here okay go ahead

41:01

yeah so it's like okay what do we do

41:02

well you know uh

41:04

here we go michael we'll start with you

41:06

what's something you do hey what's

41:07

something new i know i'll out of all of

41:10

it

41:10

all the things this week i'll tell you

41:12

no now learning

41:14

that most leading men are under six feet

41:17

is so interesting i i'm gonna google

41:19

that for you guys i'm promise you it's

41:21

the leading men height i feel safe i

41:24

don't feel like you need to grow anymore

41:25

all good insecurities gone this is

41:27

wonderful

41:29

yes yeah i feel like such a short i

41:31

michael i feel exactly

41:32

because i'm like i feel so short

41:34

everywhere i go you know and then you

41:36

have

41:36

you have russ who's like six foot eleven

41:38

or something

41:40

no no no i'm six three and some change

41:42

but still it's like

41:44

you know and here's me five eight you

41:45

know i have to like look up to him all

41:47

the time

41:48

like hey okay so it says the average

41:50

leading american male

41:51

is five feet 9.5 inches

41:55

so there you go you're you're slightly

41:57

above the leading ladies are 5'4

42:00

all right that's good i mean here's the

42:02

thing when

42:03

when mike when um tom cruise was paired

42:05

with nicole kidman

42:06

he had to stand on an apple crate uh

42:10

next because she's taller than him

42:12

that's hilarious

42:13

yeah so anyway we're not we're not

42:16

getting tom cruise

42:17

do you work out like what do you do to

42:18

work out to keep yourself healthy and

42:20

stuff like that so um yeah i go to the

42:23

gym

42:23

i mean that's a pretty yeah yeah it's uh

42:26

like

42:27

five five days a week yeah oh wow all

42:29

right yeah yeah my

42:30

my um my roommate's personal trainer so

42:32

we uh

42:33

yeah it's it's like we all go together

42:36

that's very convenient then that's good

42:38

yeah and it's good that you have a buddy

42:39

to do it with so that's that that makes

42:41

it a little bit easier so

42:42

especially if he's a personal trainer he

42:44

needs to be

42:45

constantly on his game so right yeah

42:48

yeah yeah exactly all right

42:49

do you what kind of person you like what

42:51

is it i said i had a personal trainer

42:53

for like three days and then i fired him

42:55

well let me do the boxing thing he may

42:58

this is okay

42:58

i used to wait a lot so he made me do

43:00

the boxing thing like you just got to

43:02

keep punching punch punch button

43:03

i threw up afterwards i was like he was

43:05

like are you done i was like

43:07

huh yeah and he was like maybe we

43:09

shouldn't do that anymore he's like

43:10

no we should not and you're gone thank

43:13

you

43:14

bye-bye and then he called me the next

43:15

day hey you coming in no

43:17

he goes but you paid for six sessions

43:18

i'm good

43:20

that was it oh i'm sorry so i like i had

43:23

a personal trainer once too

43:25

and he was maybe 5 11 or something and

43:29

maybe 300 pounds of muscle and i was

43:32

like

43:33

i don't know i fired him too after about

43:35

a month i just couldn't do it

43:36

so i'm like you lasted longer than i did

43:39

but anyway

43:40

so it was good to learn how the machines

43:43

work and how the weights work and

43:45

all of that so it wasn't too bad but

43:47

yeah yeah i mean they have how do you

43:48

keep yourself healthy though like what

43:50

do you what kind of foods do you like

43:52

so yeah um

43:55

well i work out i i eat very clean

43:58

um i i'm i have to eat a lot because i'm

44:02

like like gaining muscle uh but

44:05

i mean gosh like my well don't get big

44:09

no stay like don't get big yeah don't be

44:13

cool

44:14

i mean like gaining he's not going for

44:17

the rock

44:17

like he's no no i'm not i'm not i'm not

44:19

trying to be like a bodybuilder i mean

44:20

just like more muscle just like a little

44:22

more muscle you know

44:24

he's toning up he's totally toning

44:25

toning he wants what's called

44:27

definition yeah there you go okay there

44:29

you go um yeah not trying to look like

44:31

bane

44:32

right now do you run as well or not

44:33

really uh i used to run a lot

44:36

uh you know i used to do more like like

44:38

calisthenic type

44:39

type deal like i didn't do bodyweight

44:41

things uh yeah but but now i've

44:42

transitioned more to like going to the

44:44

gym and all that because before i i

44:45

felt like i was really shredded with no

44:46

muscle but but now it's like i just you

44:48

know

44:49

i'm just getting to that point in my

44:50

life where i'm like yeah you know muscle

44:52

but yeah eating wise is

44:54

super clean um i eat a lot because i am

44:56

gaining muscle but

44:58

i don't know like my breakfast today is

45:00

eggs avocado

45:01

oatmeal banana like you know stuff

45:04

normal stuff

45:04

all right yeah super normal okay do you

45:07

tic talk

45:09

no not okay so yeah on tick tock

45:12

one of the videos going around is how

45:13

you can remove an avocado pit have you

45:15

seen this

45:16

i haven't seen you normally cut it in

45:18

half and you have the avocado

45:20

pit there you take the avocado and you

45:22

have the pit right here and you just

45:23

take your thumb

45:24

and you push and it pops the pit out no

45:26

more

45:27

taking a knife and hacking it and

45:29

twisting and almost losing your arm yeah

45:32

i stabbed myself because of that the

45:33

other day so awesome i will now

45:36

i will i'll remember that thank you okay

45:39

so

45:39

lydia had one more questions about magic

45:42

so she wanted to ask you one more

45:43

question

45:44

okay um what's your favorite trick

45:47

illusion to do my favorite trick

45:50

slash illusion oh man that's uh

45:54

that's that's that's a really tough

45:55

question because i have so

45:58

many like once you get to this point

46:01

like you have so much in your repertoire

46:02

like it's it's

46:04

hard to pin down because there's lots of

46:06

environments where you do different

46:08

things like i have different

46:09

uh tricks for different environments uh

46:12

like strolling magic

46:14

i i think my favorite environment is a

46:16

strolling situation where you're just

46:18

walking around and

46:19

people are coming up and it's like a

46:21

very free-flowing type deal like

46:22

especially to get hired for like a party

46:24

but me and my friends will go out and do

46:26

that

46:27

like just for fun just just us uh so oh

46:30

my gosh okay there's this one

46:32

um that's super mind-blowing i'm not

46:35

sure if you guys have ever seen this

46:36

before

46:37

uh but man i i'm gonna get

46:40

give it away if you guys ever see this

46:42

but just it's all good um

46:44

the guy draws like a like an x on his

46:46

hand and then he asks the other people

46:48

like like close their hands and he like

46:49

like like takes it and throws it onto

46:51

their hand like like do you know the one

46:53

i'm talking about

46:55

i've seen something like that before

46:56

you've seen something like that yeah

46:58

right yeah that i

46:58

i have that and it's oh dude it's so

47:00

good that freaks me out

47:02

all right that's cool yeah you know what

47:05

you should like

47:05

this would be fun like next time you're

47:07

in florida go do the strolling in disney

47:09

world

47:09

the sterling magic while you're at the

47:11

magic kingdom well you mean just like

47:13

at disney just doing some magic just go

47:15

in there and start doing magic

47:16

oh yeah i already have i had totally

47:18

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah that's that's

47:20

super fun i didn't make you stop

47:22

like um well i remember no no no no they

47:26

made me stop but like like sometimes i i

47:27

would just be like doing magic in like a

47:29

crowd would like

47:30

gather i remember one time i did magic

47:33

for aladdin because i was i was like

47:35

taking a picture with him that was funny

47:37

um yeah yeah yeah yeah i could make your

47:40

carpet actually

47:41

float i could make you play he asked if

47:43

i was a genie it was very funny yeah it

47:45

was good

47:45

that's so cool that is cool it is cool

47:48

all right well uh well as we wrap

47:51

everything up you know um

47:53

where can people find you michael where

47:55

can people find me

47:56

i am on instagram um mainly oh there you

48:00

go hey perfect instagram

48:02

michael campion uh uh my twitter i use

48:05

a little bit less actually significantly

48:06

less i barely ever go on there but

48:08

um underscore michael champion and hey

48:10

hopefully i'll get more active

48:12

one of these days we got to see some of

48:14

your magic tricks on your instagram

48:16

which was really cool

48:17

yeah oh yeah okay okay i'm gonna follow

48:20

you on instagram that way i could like

48:22

follow well look at making russ

48:23

shows already following him but the one

48:24

thing okay is the card tricks where

48:27

you're making like the card

48:28

flip and then come back in and stuff

48:30

like like there's no trick to that you

48:32

actually have to learn how to do that

48:33

right right so that's wires or anything

48:35

yeah yeah so that's called like like

48:37

cardistry like um it's it's what people

48:39

do

48:40

uh more it's just like a like a

48:41

technical exercise

48:43

um but yeah yeah yeah cardistry is

48:45

really big but it's just just adjacent

48:47

to magic you know

48:48

right so yeah that's all the terms card

48:51

artistry

48:52

there we go yes wait hold on

48:56

what's something new you know

49:04

i didn't know that word existed until

49:05

now artist there's probably a dictionary

49:08

like a magic term dictionary that you

49:10

have to learn right

49:11

i mean you just pick it up but i if i

49:13

literally had a book i'm sure that we

49:15

could fill it up with

49:16

all those weird terms so yeah oh that'll

49:17

be good yeah

49:19

i mean i think if we played d and d with

49:21

him he would be

49:22

a mage oh you guys play d and d oh yes

49:24

we do oh yes we play

49:25

someone's i'm a dm for my for my group

49:29

yeah oh dude you just like you upped

49:31

your nerdism what's this

49:33

stand for now okay i know it's dungeons

49:35

and dragons but what does dm stand for

49:37

dungeon master yeah dungeon master okay

49:40

they're the ones that

49:41

if you have a game they're the god

49:45

basically yeah and they they put you in

49:47

scenarios and tell you the story and

49:50

like wow and you have the action nick

49:52

when we get together

49:54

we're going to play a d no but that's

49:57

good

49:58

no you've got to nick you got to try one

49:59

time it's it's kind of like crack you

50:01

got it no i'm kidding

50:02

[Laughter]

50:04

like don't tell your mom i said that so

50:06

anyway um

50:08

anyway so yeah it's a lot of fun all

50:10

right so you're the wow okay

50:12

so yeah yeah we're gonna have to all

50:14

right then when we're out in la for

50:16

out there longer than a week we have to

50:18

hook up and play a game like one yeah

50:22

we also like to do homebrews too so i'll

50:24

play yeah

50:30

that she could roll and uh she would sit

50:33

there and

50:34

uh one of our first campaigns we played

50:35

was a star wars campaign

50:37

the only video game i've ever done was

50:39

super mario brothers i was young

50:41

and i and what happened is i stayed up

50:45

all night long

50:46

and i had to go to school literally an

50:48

hour after i was like

50:50

up all night and i went to school and i

50:53

slept all day inside each classroom

50:55

and uh i didn't get written up or

50:58

anything which is strange

50:59

but it was the worst thing and after

51:02

that i stopped that was it i just

51:03

stopped completely

51:04

video games i'm like this is the most

51:05

idiotic thing i can't believe i stayed

51:07

up all night long instead of studying i

51:08

was like playing

51:09

super mario brothers yeah industry

51:12

because i wanted to get to the next

51:13

level like each time i just kept going

51:15

the purpose of a video game anyway yeah

51:19

after that i stopped but yeah that's

51:21

hilarious

51:22

yeah the one one time i remember i

51:25

remember playing dean

51:26

when we were playing dvd and i was a

51:28

fairy princess character right and

51:30

we were trying to get my mom out from

51:32

these guards and i went up to the guards

51:35

and i

51:35

asked hey can i look at your sword all

51:37

innocent like

51:39

and i took the sword i chopped off the

51:40

guard's arm and i beat him with his own

51:42

arm

51:43

yeah this was like she rolled a 20. what

51:45

are you doing okay i was like hold on a

51:47

second

51:48

yeah i said you had i said you'd have to

51:50

roll to see if you could

51:51

do because she didn't tell me exactly

51:52

her plan and um

51:54

and so she was five at the time this is

51:56

a five-year-old

51:57

okay interesting she's 11 now but this

52:00

was when she was five

52:01

and she rolled a 20 and she successfully

52:04

chopped the guard's arms off hilarious

52:08

and i would have loved for something

52:09

like that to happen in my game uh that's

52:11

awesome

52:13

okay well first off thank you so much
