Back with me on this new episode of The Broken Record Player Podcast is Anuj Rajkumar, the creator of The Legends of Music page on Instagram! We’re discussing Soundgarden’s 1994 masterpiece Superunknown

We look at how this album took Soundgarden’s sound to another level, how they retained their heavy gritty roots while appealing to a wider audience with radio friendly songs, and how varied the album is compared to their previous releases. We also reflect on the life of Chris Cornell, and what separated him from other rock singers of the 90s.

Superunknown is a masterpiece, one of the greatest albums of the 90s. It combined the heavy sludgy riffs they were accustomed to, with more melodic, diverse sounds to make a truly unique album that stands out from their peers.
