Brother George Glover III, Past Sovereign Grand Master, joins us on this episode to pull back the curtains on the inner workings of the Sovereign Grand Lodge and share how legislation makes its way through the Legislative Committee and onto the floor for a vote by the Sovereign Grand Lodge as a whole. Brother George has over thirty years' experience working at the Sovereign Grand Lodge, much of it on the Legislative Committee so he's definitely an expert on the function of the process. Along with the overview, George shares some excellent stories from his time as an Odd Fellow, discusses some of the ways in which the Legislative Committee has changed course while considering legislation (including the decision that opened membership to women), and talks about some of the conflicts that arise with ritual when the Code is changed.
