A giant key to getting up early is sleeping deeply.

There are a number of things I do many evenings to set me up for the renewal that proper rest provides.

These include:

 —a family dinner (with zero devices)
—reading something uplifting 
—an epsom salt bath
—prayer and meditation 
—writing in my journal

You want to calibrate the last hour of your evening so you sleep deeply, so you get deep renewal, so you go into the proper state where inflammation comes down and toxins are released and you get the rejuvenation and regeneration cognitively and physically so your next day is world-class. Some quick tips, no white screen three hours before you sleep in your bedroom, no devices, definitely not a TV, sleep in a cool room. As part of your nightly ritual I would encourage you to meditate. It's wonderful to take an Epsom salt bath while you're reading, maybe listening to some music. Do not watch the news and be peaceful and try not to eat three hours before you go to sleep. The name of the game is just make each day consistently better than the day before. 1% wins, micro-triumphs. The key to a great morning routine is an excellent pre-sleep ritual.
