All brilliant transformations are hard. They force you to reach deep into your gifts and talents and push past fear, doubt and resistance. And as you do this, you build greater self-awareness, about how strong you truly are.

My main point right here though is that growth is never a straight line. It’s more like “stumbling your way to excellence.”

The very nature of a conscious, excellent, bold, heroic life means it's a series of deaths and rebirths. Every time you have a growth spurt in terms of your productivity, in terms of your performance, in terms of your human power, the old you dies. And when the old you dies, there's a discomfort. Death, rebirth, death, rebirth. And then I get to a certain level, I'll go along, integrate all the learning, and all of a sudden, next level of growth, my old beliefs get let go, some of my emotional ways of being let go. I let go of old habits, let go of old behaviors, that old part of me dies. And it feels like a death, sometimes for a week, sometimes for a month. I feel more tired. I'll feel confused. I'll feel sort of groundless until the next level of me integrates and then it becomes familiar and safe and it's the rebirth. And so you will experience deaths for the benefit of a rebirth. People don't talk about this, but it's so incredibly powerful. And I guess what I'm suggesting to you is the path to greatness is a messy sport. It is not. for meek people. But it's the best sport you could ever do because this is how you become brave. This is how you become unconquerable. This is how you become a force of nature. This is how you become your truest and best self.
