In my latest book The Wealth Money Can’t Buy, I share a model that has been transformational for my clients called “The 8 Forms of Wealth.” I believe that while money and financial security is a form of wealth, there are 7 other forms of riches that include personal growth, health and wellness, adventure and curiosity and family plus friends. Without experiencing all of these we miss out on knowing our richest life. Go ahead and read it here.

Here is the macro principle I want you to really think about. So when our society says you are rich or become wealthy, what do we think about? Mostly, our culture programs us to think this. You are really rich if you have a lot of money. You are really wealthy if you have a large stock portfolio, a lot of real estate, maybe it's precious metals, maybe it's bonds, other types of equities, blue chip growth stocks. If you have a high net worth, you are rich. What I've done my very best to do in the creation of the eight forms of wealth model that has absolutely transformed the lives of the billionaires and the sports stars and the movement makers and the entertainment royalty who have come to me to be their advisor is to show people money is important. It is something. It's not everything. Our culture does not say You're meditating and visualizing and praying everyday. You're wealthy. Our society doesn't say you're steadily growing in your wisdom and your knowledge. You're reducing insecurity. You're becoming braver and you're dissolving fear. You are becoming more generous. You're doing your work with greater enthusiasm, commitment, and you're reducing entitlement. You are a great human being, et cetera, et cetera. Wow, you are rich, but it is a form of wealth. Personal growth is a form of wealth because as you build intimacy with your gifts and talents as you turn down the chattering voice of your ego as you build a relationship with your heroic self versus your egoic self you become the person Destiny has met for you to be and so it really is a form of wealth to be capitalizing on your natural genius And it's a great secret of happiness most people don't think about it. I think one of the greatest crimes a human being commit is the crime of self-betrayal. You're busy being busy versus making that shift from busy to productivity. You're just busy being busy. You're reactive versus strategic. You're just living your life like a leaf in the fall wind. And before you know it, you're going to beat the end of your life. And you say, well, I didn't get to know my gifts and my talents. I didn't get to build my bravery. I never developed vast reservoirs of knowledge and wisdom. I didn't heal my inner wounds and fill my holes. So the first form of wealth is growth. I want you to really think about it and embrace it. Let's go deeper. Let's say you have all the money in the world. You could lose it if there's an oppression or whatever it is, a catastrophic economic event. Black swans happen, of course. But no one can ever take away who you become. I better say that again because it's so important. No one, nothing can ever take away the growth that you earn. That is true power.
