So what I wanted to talk about in this session is movement-building. You're likely an
entrepreneur or business builder, or even if you're not, you want to lead a heroic life and
build a movement in your own unique way. But if you're a business builder, this session
is going to be really valuable to you. Because in many ways, we want to take our brands
and we want to take the products that we produce, and we want to build them into
movements so that we have this global base of what I call fanatical followers. So, I come
to the 5 a.m. club, which I spent four years writing, and the first lesson for movement-building is really get the magic right. When a lot of people do is they focus on marketing,
they focus on sales, and it's all about external strategy, and yet they release a mediocre
product. What you want to do is you want to handcraft a product that when people use it,
they fall in love with it and they feel it's a little piece of magic in their lives. And if you
can do that, then people really will evangelize the product, especially in the world of
social media. They will go online and tell everyone about what you've done for them,
because ultimately, what you want to do in business is help people live their dreams, help
people live gorgeous lives. You want to relieve stress from them. So the first lesson is
really produce magic before you worry about marketing or sales. The second thing is how
do you build a movement one handshake at a time? And what do I mean by that is you
build a movement of millions of followers of your products and brand, one relationship at
a time. And that might sound like an old school strategy, but I think it's never been so
relevant because so few people do it. We live in a world in many ways, which is quick fix
magic pill. People want instant glory. What I suggest to you is play the long game and
put in the deep work required to build relationships with your consumers, one
relationship at a time. And yes, it might take a little bit longer, but you will have a
sustainable movement that has legs that stands the test of time. Number three. How do
you build a movement? Well, you constantly see yourself as an instrument of service.
Keep on asking yourself this fundamental question. I call it the ten x value obsession. If
you've been following my work for a long time, you've heard me share it for the past
many years. Make it your obsession, bordering on a possession to give your consumers
ten times the value that they're paying for general assets builds movements. Scarcity
doesn't. Generosity is what builds movements. Give your customers. Give your
consumers so much value you that they are literally dazzled by what they're receiving.
And again, if you do that, they'll be on fire to get your message or your brand or your
product out to the world. Final thing I would suggest to you is make sure you have fun
while you're building movement. If you take yourself too seriously, no one is going to
take yourself seriously, so make sure you enjoy the process. A lot of people, what they do
is they fall into the seduction of, well, when I make a certain amount of money or have
certain certain number of followers, or when I have a certain lifestyle, then I will enjoy
my life and I will be happy. Well, that's that's just an illusion. The real key is simply this
enjoy the process. Because if you're not happy enjoying the process, you're not going to
be happy when you get the result. Okay, so I hope this session has helped go out there
and build a movement. The world will be less of a place if you don't bring your magic to
it.
