Show Notes

Disclaimer: This episode was recorded with the assistance of Auslan Interpreter, Sarah Howell and it is her voice that is heard on this podcast. There may be moments of silence due to  "decalage". These gaps were not edited out in respect of my Deaf guest, Stef Linder.

Since April 2020, ABC NEWS channel’s Sunday 6.00pm AEST national news bulletin is being picture-in-picture Auslan interpreted in partnership with Expression Australia. The bulletin also includes a two-minute segment with specific information for the Australian Deaf community in Auslan. This week Fatih chats with Stef Linder, one of the bulletin’s Deaf news readers.

Stef Linder is a second-generation native signer of Auslan and lifelong member of the Deaf community. She holds many roles in the Deaf Community as a Deaf Interpreter, translator, presenter and trainer. Stef has also worked on a number of assignments and projects in Australia, Cambodia, London, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam. Her interests include applied linguistics, innovative language pedagogy and social change in deaf.
