CavalierCast - The Civil War in Words
The 17th Century War of the Three Kingdoms was a momentous period in our history, and one which is extremely overshadowed and under-explored. CavalierCast is dedicated to bringing you informative podcasts covering anything and everything civil war related, discussing topics with a great variety of guests; academics, archaeologists, authors, curators, re-enactors, and TV stars.
Historian Mark Turnbull (producer and host of the show) has been fascinated with it since the age of ten. A Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, he has written biographies of King Charles I and Prince Rupert.

Episode 12 - Part 1: Henrietta Maria, The Queen.
This podcast looks at anything and everything to do with the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.
In this episode I speak to the excellent historian, writer and broadcaster, Leanda de Lisle about Queen Henrietta Maria. It is the first of a two-part episode.
Leanda sheds light on Henrietta's French heritage and childhood, along with:
- What was it about her that scandalised the Puritans?
- Should King Charles have listened to her more often?
- How did she aid the royalist war effort?
