He shares his anger regarding the 9/11 events that unfolded in NY and his determination to examine his way of thinking about the muslim community. The events of 9/11 forever changed the way we live and operate today, almost 10 years later.
Rafael shares his political views and vulnerability as it relates to war and oppression and occupying other spaces, countries around the world. Sunni contends that hate, racism and power all come from the same place. It has everything to do with the individual and perhaps, what they’ve been marinated in or not. Hint: The Wizard of Oz. Think about it! Seriously! He also shares an example of this privilege and being in spaces that allowed him access that he may not have otherwise had.
Protesting… there’s an interesting conversation that takes place about the effectiveness of protesting… understanding that protesting doesn’t only mean showing up in a physical space.
