Coming Soon: Seedcast Season 4 Starts with Sonic Journeys
Seedcast Season 4 Trailer

January 31, 2024

Jessica Ramirez (Host): Hi I’m Jessica Ramirez, and this is Seedcast. I want to ask you to do something with me.

I want you to get quiet and just listen. What do you hear from the world around us? What do you hear inside yourself? What sounds is the earth making?

[Collage of sounds plays from Reciprocity Project films SŪKŪJULA TEI (Stories of My Mother), Pili Ka Moʻo, and Ma’s House]

[Music plays from the film Sūkūjula Tei (Stories of My Mother), continuing as Jessica speaks]

Jessica: So, thanks for trying that with me. I can’t believe that we are kicking off season 4 of Seedcast on February 14! I just – I feel so excited.

So we’re over here making new episodes, and we’re asking for Indigenous knowledge to be heard at this critical moment. And with so much chaos and noise around us, we’re going to start off this season by listening. This is an invitation for you to get grounded and listen to Indigenous song and language.

We’re going to start off season 4 with a series of Sonic Journeys. This is a series that we started last year, and it encourages you to let your imagination run free, and listen to the soundscapes of films from the Reciprocity Project.

We’re going to visit the Wayuu, and the Shinnecock and Kanaka Maoli.

[The sound of people speaking in Kanaka Maoli plays from the film Pili Ka Moʻo]

[Reciprocity Project theme music begins with slow melodic singing and drumming]

Jessica: I like the Sonic Journeys because it allows you to really imagine peoples, and a place, and land and culture in a really different way – and listen to their languages that carry ancestral sounds of the environment.

[The sound of Wayuu people speaking plays from the film SŪKŪJULA TEI (Stories of My Mother)]

We're so happy that you’re joining us again, and we'll catch you every other week starting on Feb 14

[Reciprocity Project theme music continues]
