Gospel of Luke - Week 12

Celebration Church Season 4 Episode 12

Join Pastors Mike Day, Melissa Perry, and Jennifer Davis as they unpack Luke 21—Jesus’ apocalyptic words about the temple’s destruction, wars, persecution, and “the end”—and talk honestly about why this heavy passage doesn’t have to lead us into fear.

They revisit Pastor Mike’s explanation of apocalyptic literature and his “present future” lens, seeing these verses as both realities every generation walks through now and a final day still to come—challenging us to stay faithful in the middle of shaking instead of getting lost in prediction or panic.

Then they press into control, politics, and expectations—how Judas, Peter, the Pharisees, and even well-meaning believers today can miss what Jesus is really doing because we’re so sure we know how the story should go. From life around the Thanksgiving table to life in a “purple church,” they talk about holding our political involvement loosely, keeping our ultimate allegiance with Christ, and being willing to say, “I voted for you, but I don’t agree with you here.”

A hopeful, down-to-earth conversation about praying, “Lord, what am I missing?”, living awake instead of weighed down, and letting Jesus’ mission in Luke 4—good news, release, recovery of sight, setting people free—shape how we respond while we wait and watch for His return.

This podcast is designed to go hand-in-hand with our church-wide Luke series—helping us dig deeper, ask honest questions, and keep our faith stirred with fresh wonder at who Jesus is and what He calls us to.
