Speaker 2Ladies and gentlemen, I am Thaddeus Shay. This is seasonable cloud and it's a Saturday. What is it? Today is November 25th. I'm sitting up here with Samantha Lopez.
Speaker 3Yes.
Speaker 2The owner, the CEO, the creator of Samantha's Closet.
Speaker 3Yes.
Speaker 2How are you doing today?
Speaker 3I'm good. How are you?
Speaker 2I'm okay, you watched me. Struggle, struggle, that's really what I was doing was pure struggle right there, absolutely struggling, 1000%. Add some technical difficulties. So I appreciate your patience and you're such a sweetheart I appreciate you.
Speaker 3I can't even imagine trying to set all of that up.
Speaker 2Yeah, usually audio I'm 10 times better. Okay, I don't know what was going on right now, but I normally don't have to worry about audio. It's the video part that I'm learning, and so that's why I got my boy Visions helping me out. But this was work yo.
Speaker 3Right.
Speaker 2You know, I just wanted to be set up. Plus I want yours to sound better than JT home, so he can be upset about that.
Speaker 3And the background too. I got the better background than JT and the better video Audio.
Speaker 2There we go. But yeah, we got Samantha in here. We're going to give you a round of applause for that. I brought it up like a real television show was like this that's what we're doing Getting louder, yeah, right, so we'll start with some shit chat. We'll have a little conversation. We'll just start out with How'd you come up with? Okay, how was your day today?
Speaker 3It was good. I mean, this is kind of the start to my day.
Speaker 2I woke up around like 10, slept in just a little bit, but yeah, it was Saturday though, do you have to still get up early on a Saturday?
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2Really.
Speaker 3I have to be at my shop around like 12 that's when I open, but I like to be up early just to make sure, like I'm up, I'm awake, moving around. Yeah, moving around. If I need to like go pick up packages, you know run errands before I need to like get to the shop, pretty much I got you yeah.
Speaker 2So the first thing when I did an interview with JT, he talked about like he gets up and he listens to rock music. Do you have anything you wake up to and that helps wake you up? Or you know you could go music, you could turn on a TV show or you have anything to just kind of get you going. You read a book, you meditate a little bit. He talked about meditating a little bit.
Speaker 3Coffee, coffee or the gym.
Speaker 2I appreciate you and the coffee, yeah, coffee and the gym.
Speaker 3Sure, I like to get the gym out of the way sometimes.
Speaker 2If.
Speaker 3I'm going to have a crazy day towards the end of the day, or I'm going to like go out or do something. I like to go in the morning.
Speaker 2Right. How long are you spending the gym? What you doing in the gym?
Speaker 3Definitely cardio.
Speaker 2Cardio On the stairs, yeah.
Speaker 3The treadmill incline all the way up Legs for sure.
Speaker 2You a leg day person.
Speaker 3Gotta get my legs up like they gotta be big.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're not afraid of leg day. I'm not a big.
Speaker 3I love leg day.
Speaker 2I do the legs Girls love doing legs. Okay, like that's our thing, cause we want to be thick. Yeah, I got you.
Speaker 3I am. Back is not my favorite. Like arms and back I fucking hate I have to like force myself to do it. And abs I hate doing abs too.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, being you in the same about abs, I don't have them. That's why Me either.
Speaker 3So I'm like trying to get them. I hate it.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm scared of leg day. I can't do it. As soon as I Leg day on my, I'll do leg day, but it's uh. It's equal to me imagining having to swim with a bunch of sharks. You know what I'm saying. I'm like this is not going to be fun, but when I'm done though, Feel good. Feel good. It's a feel good pain.
Speaker 3It is.
Speaker 2You know your muscles have worked so you like to. Either you know coffee or the gym. Coffee, wise right.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 2Um, what is like something you dive into on the car. I'm a coffee aficionado, I'm a coffee kind of sewer. I mean, I go to all types of coffee shops. What about yourself?
Speaker 3Well, I'm not going to lie, I was getting Starbucks every single day, but we're not. We're not fucking with Starbucks right now.
Speaker 2Oh wait, why are we? Because this is like the third time we've had to to to boycott Starbucks. What's going on? What happened?
Speaker 3Well, they're funding the wars that are going on in Palestine.
Speaker 2So See you schooling me right now. Yeah, I don't buy it. See, I ain't okay. Listen, I'll be honest. This is an honest moment. Probably when they first dropped the pumpkin chai chai tilates. Yeah, I struggled. I talked about it in the episode, I struggled saying it. For some reason I did grab two of them because I was a fiend. I thought I was a fiend, but I ain't gonna.
Speaker 2I ain't been there since and I ain't going back until you give me the okay to go back and everything that you know they. They handle business the right way. I did not know that.
Speaker 3Yeah, I haven't been there in a long time like. I used to go like religiously every single day, but you know, I ended up just buying my own coffee machine. I told you about last time, yeah and saving money, you know, because it was like seven to ten dollars every day just on coffee at Starbucks and then with the whole like Palestine stuff going on to like you backed away from.
Social Awareness, Thanksgiving, Eyelashes, and Perfume
Speaker 2I understand completely. You know I like that. You know what? What's clapped? Yeah, I'm gonna give you a little clappy clap for that. I don't mind it at all. Are you, uh, you socially aware? You like to be in and in the know, and stand for right wrong and speak up about those things. That's really cool. That's really cool. Um so I guess I would ask right, thanksgiving just passed, right, we just? I mean, that's a couple days ago. How was your feast? Did you feast? Did you did you? Was you around family?
Speaker 3um, I had to work you wait, thanks, you had to work.
Speaker 2Yeah, you open on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3I wasn't open but I was doing like some lash stuff I had to get done.
Speaker 2Yeah, because not only do you have some endless closet, you do lashes, lashes, lashes. Wait on, school me what's the lash applies. I'm a man, school me now. What's the lash applies?
Speaker 3so basically we sell lash supplies oh, lash supplies for like other lash artists, to come like, purchase and use on their clients. So yeah, the Amazon eyelashes, not the no. We're in the Amazon for better than Amazon. I like that.
Speaker 2I like that yeah so you had to go work. We use. How many eyelashes were you taking care of that day?
Speaker 3I had like three clients yeah on Thanksgiving I started at 10 and I didn't get done till like five dang you was really working on. Yeah, you didn't get a chance to eat it on, I did I oh, you did get it, I went over to my mom's right after, and it was.
Speaker 2I got right to it. I was starving. I didn't eat like I was like. You know, I'm gonna eat later anyways how many, how many plates you get on. It's okay, you can. You can be honest here how many plates I had three yes, that's embarrassing it was not embarrassing, you was eating it was the day of food.
Speaker 2You can. A little gluttony don't hurt nobody. You can't that day. You know I'm saying so you. So you telling me you was. You're dropping the eyelashes all day. So is that something that you were doing before you got to Samantha's closet?
Speaker 3yeah, I actually started with eyelashes. That was my first business at 19 I opened. Well, first I started doing them by myself and then eventually opened up a shop nice and yeah, that's what that was like my entrepreneur, like journey, like the start of that pretty much really so you started out eyelashes you built up a clientele and Adam assuming yes, because you just so.
Speaker 2Is it when you're doing eyelashes? Do you got to have like that steady surgeon hand?
Speaker 2for sure really, how did you get that down? How'd you get the surgeon from? You know me, I drink too much coffee. I got, I get the shaky hands. I look like a zombie on crack. You don't want that to happen for you don't want me to get eyelashes, but what you know does that something you had to go to school for well, you kind of just get used to it after a while yeah yeah, okay, yeah sure you're the beauty expert.
Speaker 2I'm coming to you to get my knowledge. So when it comes to Samantha's closet right, samantha's closet you want to tell them where it's located at yes, it's at 2829 north 15th Ave 15th Ave.
Speaker 3Midtown.
Speaker 2I would like to know what inspired you to get your own store for the boutique for the boutique. Yes, let me get that right.
Speaker 3Inspired the boutique, the boutique, yeah well, I did like, like I mentioned before, I would like kind of go out sometimes and I would get girls. They would stop me and ask me like hey, where'd you get your outfit? And it was all the time Right, and at the time I was only shopping on like these Instagram boutiques or like Fashion Nova pretty little thing, because we didn't really have nothing like that here.
Speaker 1Right.
Speaker 3But yeah, same thing on Instagram I would post. Girls would message me and ask like you know where's your fit from Like can we get the details and stuff?
Speaker 2So you were never a gatekeeper? No, I don't like to share. Well, I will gatekeep one thing you don't want to say what it is I used to tell people.
Speaker 3But I'm, I'm, I'm gatekeeping my perfume now. I'm sorry guys, yes, I'm a cologne, go ahead. I can't like. I used to give people like the like I used to tell girls, but I can't anymore Like what happened?
Speaker 2What changed your mind on that?
Speaker 3I want to smell like my style, but I want to be like. I have my own stand. You know I can't like, I'm sorry.
Speaker 2Yeah, I understand, I'm a cologne connoisseur. I I I lie when they ask me.
Speaker 3I lie, I gotta.
Speaker 2I gotta go look at the.
Speaker 3I don't remember the name, I gotta go look at the bottle.
Speaker 2I don't know, so I lie, so I'm assuming that's on my heaven record. When I get to the gates they're like man, you lying about cologne 150 times, bro. So.
Speaker 3I understand.
Speaker 2So you gatekeep the perfume of it all I have to. You feel like you. You feel like you could come up with a Samantha's perfume.
Speaker 3That's like one of my ideas.
Speaker 2I want to have my own perfume one day. Yeah, what would you think it would smell like?
Speaker 3Um, like warm vanilla musky type of scent that's like what I'm into.
Speaker 2Okay, can. Is it okay to ask uh, let's see, I know we gatekeeping here on that and I respect that. Let's see if we can give a a version of something that you like right, like the, like a perfume you really rock with, okay, um, and you could just throw us off, you could give us a note like something of an older version of it and then, you know, maybe we can get like an idea of it all unless you, you know you, I have a couple like I have a lot of favorites.
Speaker 3Yeah, I won't give out my current favorite. Sorry, give us one you give Um, I would say it would be like inspired by Killian. Um, I actually, yes, princess by Killian, that's pretty. That's, that's a that's so good, I call some Duggets. Yeah, that's not regular. My perfume is not cheap, yeah.
Speaker 2That's not regular. That's. That's Dugget money, that's that's real money. That's not.
Speaker 3That's not no joke right here so uh, you into the perfume.
Speaker 2You, you, you. You know we talked about, you know gatekeeping and stuff like that. Um, so you really feel like you could get in and get you a Samantha's classic perfume going, or something like that.
Speaker 3Yeah, I definitely want to get into perfume. It would obviously be like a it's different thing, like its own thing, different name and everything, but I love perfume, so I would definitely want to do that one day.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'd choose. So we are getting back on track when we talk about Samantha's classic, because I really think you, being an influencer, um, people love you in the city.
Speaker 3You're very popular.
Speaker 2You're very dope, very dope human Um give great energy.
Speaker 3Thank you Um.
Speaker 2I think it's very, very dope that you opened up your own boutique. Look at me, see, I'm learning. So, yeah, continue to talk about the process of getting to the point of like, um, I have my own boutique now. Where did the inspiration come from?
Speaker 3Yeah. So, like I mentioned, um, basically girls would. We're always asking me where I got outfit and stuff like that and I kind of like I thought to myself like well, why don't you just start your own thing?
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 3You know you have your last stuff going on like just do the clothes, like start little, you know little by little so um. I think it was in 20, 20,. What was it?
Speaker 220, 20, we had. Everybody was coming up with ideas in 2020.
Speaker 320, 20. I want to say it was 2021. Yeah 2021 is when I like, officially like, opened a store. Nice, yeah, nice and then, yeah, like you know, started little by little. I feel like this year we've grown like the most.
Speaker 2So you feel like there was more of a lane of giving women the opportunity to try a lot of that stuff they've seen online on. And you know, yeah, so this is not the first. So when we talk about we've talked about this before this is not the first time. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. We had some angle issues and some some memory issues. So we're back again. Just stay with us and we'll go through it again. So you told me previously that you talked about like, not women not being able to try those things on.
Speaker 2And I told you, I seen pictures, memes and videos of women trying stuff on. They have the actual ad to the left of them and then on the right they would have the how it came and stuff like that. I know that's a big issue.
Speaker 3Is that something that was on on your mind when you were Definitely, because there's been a couple of times where I've gotten things and it looks terrible on me.
Speaker 1But I don't return stuff, I'll just either give it away or like whatever.
Speaker 2But you telling me you ordered something at a restaurant and it's not right. You're not going to?
Speaker 3Oh, that's different.
Speaker 2Oh, okay, okay I got you.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's different, but like because you can easily just send it back to the kitchen. You know what I mean. But when you send something back to fashion Nova, you got to like do all this extra, so I don't want to do it.
Speaker 2Have you ever done it before? No, no, like that.
Speaker 3I'll just give it to a friend or just let it sit in the closet.
Speaker 2Okay, Do you do when? When ladies come into your shop, do they kind of let you know that this is nice to be able to try this on?
Speaker 3Oh, yeah, all the time. Like I had a customer come in last week and she ordered an outfit for an event. It came. She didn't like it, so she came into the shop. Yeah, I was like you know, I want to try stuff on. It had something that I planned on wearing. Didn't work out, so now. I'm here, nice, okay.
Speaker 2So can I? Can I speak that? I think I seen somebody pretty cool you took a picture with in your shop. Yeah, when you let them know who came into the shop to, to, to, to shop, yeah, ruby.
Speaker 3Rose came in yesterday. Yeah, she was opening for. Sexy Red last night, right, so that was pretty dope.
Speaker 2How was she? Was she cool? She's amazing, I love her.
Speaker 3Her energy is awesome. She's really nice. We're pretty. Yeah, that's cool.
Speaker 2When, when people come, when women come into the shop, do you kind of help assist with the shopping? Yeah, kind of like a personal help Kind of like a personal like is it personal she? You know shoppers that what they call it. Like did you help with Ruby when she came in?
Speaker 3I, I did, I got like some new stuff. Her stuff was exclusive. I didn't even put it out yet.
Speaker 1Really so.
Speaker 3I got, like some like a shipment of new things and I put everything aside for her on a rack and I was like girl, it's our new stuff.
Speaker 2So, whatever you want to take, you know, go for it, Go for it and, yeah, a little hand in this that this, that that's cool man. Is that something you would? You hoped maybe that you get some more. Do you get like a lot of people that come in town and come into the shop, celebrities, influencers that are not here, do they? They come in.
Speaker 3I think this was like if they're an influencer, maybe I haven't recognized them, I get it.
Speaker 2Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 3But I think this was probably the first time I've had someone like that big come in.
Speaker 2That's cool. Which?
Speaker 3is super, super cool, that's really cool the process.
Speaker 2We're here talking about the process of Samantha's closet. So your drive is. I'm assuming you had this you when you got the idea you wanted to have your boutique. So now comes the space. Like you got to find a space for it. How did you find your space for it Was just driving around. How did you find that?
Speaker 3Just driving around, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2Stumbled upon it, say boom, that is where I want my shop to be. Yeah, okay, so I know you learn about the lease and all that stuff. Did you have help with that or did you kind of do your own research?
Speaker 3Yeah, I get some help with it, yeah.
Speaker 2I know JT talked to me about, like he, his federal trademark for his name. He had it. He had an issue, he had it state trademark and then he had to go and federal. So he was on, he called it, he called it YouTube college. So he's on YouTube and he's just going through. So you kind of had help on the process. End of it. Okay. So when it came to the look, the interior look of your store, where were some of the inspirations you were pulling from? Because I seen video looked beautiful inside the energy.
Speaker 2looks like it comes straight out from the videos, like it makes a nice funk shway in there.
Speaker 1I use the word funk shway.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2It looks like it's really nice in there. What were some of the inspirations? Using some of the colors and the Well, my favorite color is pink, nice.
Speaker 3Second favorite color is black. I love like the modern industrial look with like a hint of glam. So I feel like that's exactly what it, is Right, okay.
Speaker 2So when you see I'm going to ask you something, because when I see you I get a nice. I know we talked about this last time yeah, I didn't get a chance to hear it but when I see you you got like a nice Kim K energy to you. And I'm not saying you are trying to be her, but you have a nice Kim K energy.
Speaker 3Thank you, that's a compliment. Yeah, for sure, for sure.
Speaker 2And does she do a lot of inspiring for you? Is that somebody you're a fan of?
Speaker 3For sure, I love Kim.
Speaker 2What you love about Kim, though you say like I love.
Black Friday Sales and Fashion Styles
Speaker 3Kim, I do. Yeah, no, she's a. She's a baddie. She's like the OG baddie. Yeah, but her work ethic I feel like she is very driven business, her business ethic and work ethic is great. Yeah, um, yeah, she's killing it.
Speaker 2So if you see so, you telling me that's all you gonna have. If Kim K coming to the boutique, you telling me you, just, you ain't gonna have, you gonna, you ain't gonna scream no, like that.
Speaker 3I'm not, definitely not screaming, I don't know.
Speaker 2What you gonna say. It was the first thing you gonna say See, there, we see, you're not gonna scream, I'm gonna. How about this? If I'm somehow in there, I'm a scream for you.
Speaker 3Okay, I got it.
Speaker 2I got a high-pitched voice. If there's some bees chasing me, I can scream. Okay you know I'm saying so. I'm a Kim coming to store. You hear me scream. I just did it for you. Okay, you know, I got you back, thank you. That's what I'm here for. I'm here to help. Yeah, I'm always, I'm always very, very Impressed mm-hmm with Kim.
Speaker 2Yeah something new something new all the time all the time and the way she conducts her business now and in her love for fashion. And this is, I call her, the reason why Instagram has, like, put a, put a squeeze on Engagement right and this is something I talked about in previous podcast, because here Kim case, such a, you know such a figure, you know such an icon, right. So when she posts something, you know if you think about it, when she posts something, it's sold out right in.
Speaker 2Seconds in seconds, right, didn't spend no money on ads, didn't spend no money on marketing for TV Post and in it's, in, it's out. So, when you're a platform like Instagram and you're trying to make money, you know you put a squeeze on people right you put a squeeze on engagement, make it hard for people to get singing. We want you to spend money on ads and I always. I love the way her aesthetics look. Everything looks really good when she, when she dropped something, did you see she dropped for the NBA?
Speaker 3Yes, that was super dope. Yeah, really really cool, yeah, see is there a Moment?
Speaker 2did you? Do you have men's clothes? No, is that something that you might?
Speaker 3Gabblin Not.
Speaker 2Devon coming to the spot. He want to get some stuff or something like that. Listen, has any of any of the wives Basketball girl?
Speaker 3I can help them out. Yeah, sure, I got the girls.
Speaker 2You got a cover. Yeah okay, I got you Black Friday. That was yesterday. How was that?
Speaker 3Well, my sale goes until Sunday.
Speaker 2Oh nice.
Speaker 3Yeah, so I did online. It actually started early too, so I started Thanksgiving Day.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 3Yeah, thanksgiving Day Friday, today and then tomorrow.
Speaker 2What's the sale?
Speaker 360% off everything 60.
Speaker 2Yes really 60, 60 that's a real, that's a real black Friday.
Speaker 3Yeah right, you know, you know a couple other Other like brands doing sales, and it was like 30%.
Speaker 2I heard it. So my boy, you know him Devion right. So we're tech guys right. Techie techs. We want to get new TVs. There's a Sony TV out there and we have been talking about this TV for about a month and a half, right, and then Black Friday comes and we look, and all they did was was they increased the price? They do that and then they Do a discount to put it at the price that they originally had.
Speaker 3Heartbroken. That is crazy.
Speaker 2We were heartbroken.
Speaker 3What is it called False advertisement?
Speaker 2There we go out 1000%. What was the? It was a traffic like yesterday. Well, you're busy.
Speaker 3Yes, I was actually busy Wednesday too the night before. I was surprised because I Posted I was having my sale on Tuesday. So I figured well since, like they know, we're gonna have our sale, we probably won't get any traffic in on Wednesday. Yeah, but I think everyone's trying to get like outfits for Thanksgiving and stuff it's a little good yeah so I had traffic on Wednesday. It's been pretty like.
Speaker 2How do you come up with yourselves? You do. Who do you strategize? Is it just you, or you have anybody that helps you with?
Speaker 3No, I do it myself.
Speaker 2Really, you kind of look at Inventory, you look at, do you look at what other maybe other people are doing as far as maybe black Friday sales? You kind of come up with something there, black Friday specific or just sales, and black Friday specific, and then you can tell me about sales to how you do those things.
Speaker 3No, I feel like for black Friday's kind of just like everyone's just doing a black Friday sale, so you know you kind of have to yeah, you know. Other sales I feel like you have to like really it just depends on, like whether it's kind of slow or like you have to see what your slow months are like. You know, I know like every business has a slow season and I feel like during that season you have to kind of like strategize with sales and stuff.
Speaker 2And how do you um Invertory wise you looking up your inventory? Does it have anything to do with your sales that you're doing?
Speaker 3Sometimes, yeah, like if you order like a big shipment of clothes that are not really like selling you might have to like do a little something with the sales, or like, if you want to refresh the inventory, do a sale.
Speaker 2Are you one of those people that know, like they have these gurus, these fashion gurus, that kind of know, or maybe even direct what the color is going to be for the season? Are you one of those gurus, like you know, I think it's going to be chemo this fall season. Or, you know, avocado green.
Speaker 3Not really. I don't think it really into like the colors.
Speaker 2Okay, so you just kind of more of the styles.
Speaker 3Yeah, I think I got the styles down.
Speaker 2Yeah, what celebrity for you has a good style. We're gonna remove Kim K from this. See how.
Speaker 3Good style celebrity yeah.
Fashion, Style, and Shopping With Celebrities
Speaker 2I'm gonna take sip of water while we're waiting to.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's kind of hard, because my first pick was gonna be Kim K course.
Speaker 2What about, like, we'll use her sister? What about Kylie, kylie, yeah, kylie's got some good style.
Speaker 3For sure I like their style because it's really fashion for it, but it's still sexy, that's what I like.
Speaker 2Is that what? Okay, yeah, you just asked for my. Okay, fashion forward, but sexy, got you Any? Let's say I like to be random here. Let's do random user heels or sneaker person heels all day, every day.
Speaker 3I can wear heels all the time. I love sneakers too. I definitely am trying to get more into like wearing sneakers and knowing how to style them better, but I can like put it off it together in like five minutes with the view Nice, okay.
Speaker 2I am of course. Are you used to wear? Are you a Yeezy?
Speaker 3I love Yeezy. You love the Yeezy's.
Speaker 2I know if I can bring up the Yeezy's, but I did get me a pair of Yeezy's. We talking fan, I did get me a pair of Yeezy's. You know, I'm not just. You see, that wall over there, that's all Kurdish right, that's like fifty-five.
Speaker 3I saw that you like collect them, right yeah?
Speaker 2It's like I'm not like close to sixty pair of Kurdish's right there. That's cool.
Speaker 3Club. You deserve a club for this.
Speaker 2You know I don't like the. You know. You know my Mori crowd can get a little wild, but I did get me some Yeezy's and they're actually pretty, they're comfy right, yeah they got me some. Yeezy's, are you into that mic? What's? They call that Chromatic. What's the word?
Speaker 1Monochromatic.
Speaker 2Is that what it is? Do you ever put that that monochromatic? Is that something they still do? I don't.
Speaker 3Is that like with the different? Like the same color, but different like shades? I think so.
Speaker 2yeah, see you the one, you the magic magician. I like those looks. Yeah, okay, all right. So are you. The social media help you out a lot with a lot of trends, For sure. Yeah, what's your, what's your favorite platform you like to get on?
Speaker 3Instagram. Instagram Instagram, I feel like it has a little bit of everything it does, it does. Pictures, video, kind of like the TikTok videos. And then they have like the threads now, I guess. Like kind of like the Twitter thing.
Speaker 2I'm not on there, but you ever use threads a little bit, Just a little bit no. Not your, you know, are you not on X Twitter? Jesus Christ, not on Twitter either. I don't like the Twitter either. I understand I get to hide behind my tweets.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2I get to become like a Boston, an angry Boston person behind my tweets Sports, anything related to gaming. If I'm having issues with my X box connection, you'll never know. It's me, but I hide behind my tweets. I talk mass amounts of shit. Don't judge me, but your process to basically getting your store open I know there's like permanence and stuff you got to go through the city and it's a lot of small hoops and stuff like that. Were any of those processes frustrating? I asked because I know a lot of people, would you know?
Speaker 2would want to know, want to know, they potentially want to get his store.
Speaker 3I think I think it depends on what you're trying to open up. Yeah, I feel like, for me at least, it wasn't hard. I didn't have to get permits or anything. Really, I just needed to get my AZ, like business license, x ID number, just like stuff like that.
Speaker 2When it comes to shopping and inventory, you have multiple suppliers or you got one person that you didn't found. That that's where I go to get my inventory from.
Speaker 3Multiple.
Speaker 2Multiple, and you just kind of shop around and kind of see the best price and stuff like that. So pretty much you're my mom when it comes to shopping. She won't. She believes that, okay, that price is there, I'm going to be able to find a better price over here Is that how you work.
Speaker 3I don't really look too much at the prices. I look more like at the styles.
Speaker 2The styles and everything is pretty much wholesale, I'm assuming.
Speaker 3Wholesale yeah.
Speaker 2Wholesale buying in bulk. Yes, okay, I got you. What is the price range of some of your stuff in there, some of your boutique clothing?
Speaker 3I feel like, on average, our pieces go for like $45. Yeah, okay, that's like an average. An average.
Speaker 2Do you have some pieces that you know you got to have a little bit of? You know you got to have a little bit of that?
Speaker 3If the quality is better than yeah.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 3But I've heard my stuff is more on like the what's the word? I don't want to say cheaper, because that's not a good word. But, like what's the word? I'm going to think of Cheaper? I guess like oh, what is that? That was an intro.
Speaker 2So it's an intro from 90s.
Speaker 3Oh, my God.
Speaker 2I think you told me what time your brother's into all that. So if he hears that he'll probably know what that is. He'll know exactly what cartoon that is from.
Speaker 3I didn't ask him Like what is this? Oh, reasonable, that's the word Like yes, gotcha. Yeah, like more on the like reasonable, yeah, yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
Speaker 2Yeah, jt talked about that and making sure that, like the price was affordable.
Speaker 3Affordable. Yeah, there you go and rock. Yeah, I get it, I get it. I've heard like yeah, do you wear a lot of your own All the time Is that what you're rocking right now. These are from my boutique.
Speaker 2You can get the shirt and the jeans and all that stuff.
Speaker 3The shirts from Zara. Yeah, the heels are from Zara, the pants are from my boutique.
Speaker 2Okay, so we're going to, definitely if you have like a photo or video.
Speaker 1We'll put all that stuff up.
Speaker 2Cause I'm cool like that You're cool like that, I'm cool, like that. I asked you this random question, which was if you were a target fan right, yes. Okay, cool, perfect Cause I'm a target fan, I'll be going after this.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 2You're going in target. I asked you this before going to the target. You got three celebrities you can go with, but I'm going to add a twist, because so you could go in shopping in the target with three celebrities, dead or alive. Who are you going with?
Speaker 3What's the twist?
Speaker 2You'll find it just a second.
Speaker 3And they have to be celebrities.
Speaker 2Dead or alive? Yeah, celebrities, dead or alive. You know what Cause you asked that? Do you have somebody in mind? One person that's not a celebrity and in two that are? Since you asked that, I feel like you got somebody you want to bring into the group right there.
Speaker 3Well, I was going to say my mom. Okay, so your mom, I always go to target with her anyways, you got your mom's coming. Yeah, no.
Speaker 2Well, we, we, it's fine we could bring Kim K. We know we, we know we got Kim K coming. So you think your mom and Kim K would would vibe.
Speaker 3Yeah, they'd be cool.
Speaker 2Yeah, and so we just going to come up with a third person. Who do you listen to in music?
Speaker 3Like my favorite artists. Yeah, kanye, that's kind of messy. Can you tell me what you're targeting?
Speaker 2You didn't say it. Could your mom? Could your mom create a nice environment where everybody can go in?
Speaker 3Yeah, that would be good. It would be a good environment. Ok, got you.
Speaker 2The twist is right. The twist is you got to convince one of them to pay for all the stuff that you are putting in the basket. So who would you try to convince to pay for all your stuff? Don't cheat, Don't cheat.
Speaker 3What do you mean?
Speaker 2Don't use your mom. You know what I'm saying Because we know moms is going to take care of you. Who would you between Ye and Kim, would you?
Speaker 3ask to.
Speaker 2I feel like they would both pay for it.
Speaker 3You think they would, I think they would, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2OK, you're very I like you. You got good spirit. You said you know what they're going to both pay for this.
Speaker 3They're going to split it.
Speaker 2They're going to take care of it. Ok, I got you Some of the influencers that I see rocking your stuff and I see a lot of videos of you, basically you know, touching some things up here, moving some things around here, Lift up some mile. You have a lot of influencers that you work with. How do you set those, set those connections up to come in and and get your content for your store?
Speaker 3Like the models.
Speaker 2Yeah, the models, yeah.
Speaker 3Honestly, if I see like a really pretty girl on Instagram, I think she would, like you know, do good modeling my stuff.
Speaker 2I just asked, yeah when you sit out of a press pack like what do you usually put in there? How many?
Speaker 3It depends like, on how big about influencer? They are Like, if they're pretty big, I usually let them pick stuff.
Speaker 1OK.
Speaker 3But if I work with, like you know, somebody smaller, I'll send out like our new stuff or you know, some stuff that we already have in the tea.
Speaker 2So it's really not about numbers for you. It's more about you know if they will look good in the For PR or models for models yeah it's more about how they look. Yeah for sure.
Speaker 3Yeah, Is there models that like started out with. You know like average amount of followers and like blew up, you know, so cool you still work with them right now.
Speaker 2That's really cool. How do you, how do you go about coordinating, coordinating the fits, coordinating? I'm assuming you do your own set ups as far as, like, you pick your photographer. Who does your photographer work, your video work?
Speaker 3Creative Studios.
Speaker 2Creative Studios.
Speaker 3Yes, ok, and I remember that is your brother, my brother, that's your brother, he's amazing.
Speaker 2That's dope. So you get to work with families. You go, does he help you out with turn left right? You know lighting, or do you?
Speaker 3He does all of it, like the lighting angles, video pictures, yeah.
Store Progress and Future Plans
Speaker 2I was watching the episode of the Kardashians and Kim was. She was the Doche and Gabbana oh yeah, did you watch that? So you see how she was. She seemed like she needed her home girl, like I think that's her, her stylist maybe. Yeah, but she did hands on yeah. I don't like this or like that. Is that something that you fire out right there, like let's move that, let's take that off and let's put that on?
Speaker 3Yeah, I do all like this. All of that, yeah, ok, for sure.
Speaker 2Just I'm a nosy person. I want to know as much as possible. So you look up Cyber Monday is coming.
Speaker 3You ready.
Speaker 2Are you ready for Cyber?
Speaker 3Monday yes, I am.
Speaker 2Do you deliver all your own? You like, get all the packages together, or do you have like your mom?
Speaker 3help you out. I do it myself. Sometimes I'll have my mom help me if, like, I need it. It's like a lot.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3But for the most part I do it myself, but I might need help this weekend.
Speaker 2Yeah, did you say, you said, the store is grown.
Speaker 3It is.
Speaker 2Each year. Is that messing with you?
Speaker 3No, it's fine.
Speaker 2OK, each year you've kind of seen this progression up. What does that feel like to see your store continue to go and go and climb?
Speaker 3It feels amazing just because I put so much of my time and effort into it. So to see, like, the progress you know, to actually see the progress.
Speaker 2How do you reward yourself for the progress?
Speaker 3All of the stuff that comes with it is rewarding to me. You know what I mean. That's all I need is to see, like, what I'm getting from my hard work. Yeah, so.
Speaker 2Any future, you know, expansions of Samantha's closet, or you have something else you're looking to do and get into.
Speaker 3I don't know. I've thought about maybe like opening another location on the West side. I've gotten a couple of requests requests for that. That's major, or I'm thinking of doing like something in the mall.
Speaker 2Really.
Speaker 3Which I think would be really cool.
Speaker 2You can't be really cool, for sure.
Speaker 3I mean we have like the nice stores in the mall, but we don't really have like Samantha's closet.
Speaker 2Right, right, right. I like that.
Speaker 3Yeah, and for like other, like ventures, I'm like starting to design my own stuff.
Speaker 2Oh, really, yeah, so I have a really like.
Speaker 3It's a process. You know, not a perfectionist, so there's stuff that I like sketched out, and you know, and you sketch too.
Speaker 2You trying to hide that from us. You be sketching too.
Speaker 3Yeah, I mean just on the iPad, you know.
Speaker 2That's something you be sketching out. That looks very difficult. I try to move my finger on my phone to do just to just to cut something out on the Instagram story and it looks like I was inside of like an earthquake.
Speaker 3Oh, my gosh and the grid of lines and stuff like that.
Speaker 2So that's a real talent, don't?
Speaker 3Well, I use a stylist, so that's a little stylist.
Speaker 2I don't have a stylist. I got you, but you said you were starting to design your own stuff. Is that something? You had to have your name on the back and it's your, your ideas, your style.
Speaker 3I'm so thinking of like a name, because it would be separate from Samantha's closet, yeah. So I'm trying to like get all that together, but so far I've had a couple. I have a couple things sketched out. I have a manufacturer ready. So really. I'm getting ready to buy some samples and hopefully everything works out good.
Speaker 2You looking for 2024, maybe 2025. 2024 for sure.
Speaker 3At least like a good three.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3Designs, that's dope.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3So I'm like so excited for that.
Speaker 2Any any other lines that they're kind of inspire you. Like you know I, like you know D&G what they do, or I'm not this and I'm not a big fashion guy, so you got to bear with me when I try to drop some names here. D&g, I know, skims is is there?
Speaker 3I love their aesthetic. Like the creative director is amazing.
Speaker 2Wait, who's the creative director? I have no clue.
Speaker 3I follow her on Instagram. I don't know her name.
Speaker 2OK.
Speaker 3From the top of my head, but like, maybe killing, I'm gonna find out. Yeah, they kill the campaigns. Like really yeah.
Speaker 2You follow a lot of their marketing.
Speaker 3Yeah, the marketing is so I love.
Speaker 2Listen, I'm always about watching people like that. I'm fascinated with sexy red.
Speaker 3Really.
Speaker 2Listen, not in the, the department probably think, but the way you take your opportunity and this is your lane Right, you understand what lane you're in, you can capitalize it on. You could kill in it. That's right and that's exactly what we don't stray, we don't try to. You know, market it. You know we don't try to market. You know blue paint. This is where we're at. And this is what we're going to hammer home, so I love.
Speaker 3I love her.
Speaker 2I appreciate how they just was like this is what we're going to do, this is where we're going to stay and this is how we're going to kill it. And she was in the club last night and motherfuckers enjoyed themselves.
Speaker 3That's why I'm sure?
Speaker 2So yeah, do you follow a lot of the, the marketing that that scams does?
Speaker 3Yeah, I love everything they put out. I love everything.
Speaker 2I love them so much. So let me ask you something. All right, at some point, at some point, I'm going to put you to the test, and I'm just being random. We're going to put it to the test on the coffee. All right, I go back to the, because I talk about coffee all the time. I'm a coffee nut. All right, I'm going to put you to the test. I'm going to give you two places to go to. We're going to see you know if you really know coffee, because one of them is awful.
Speaker 3OK.
Speaker 2One of them is God. I wouldn't. I wouldn't send Satan to that place. You know what I'm saying. The other place, that's a home run. We're going to find out if you really a coffee kind of sewer or not. You know, if you plan me or not. Ok, give me one, one random fact about you, just something random.
Speaker 3Random.
Speaker 2Random, random, carlisle.
Speaker 3There's a lot of random facts about me.
Speaker 2Last time you told me, you know Star Wars.
Speaker 3Yeah, I watch the, but like the older Star Wars.
Speaker 2That's. But see, that's random, like when I see you, how do you?
Speaker 3I'm 25.
Speaker 2First of all, man 25 own store.
Speaker 3I mean thank you. What is?
Speaker 2happening. That's really dope, but 25.
Speaker 3Twenty five Just turn 25 in September. Sad Twenty Don't be sad.
Speaker 2You got a long way to go, a long way to go, but you know about Star Wars and not the Judge of Bookbites cover. I put my hand up because you're not supposed to judge a bookbites cover. I just wouldn't think you would know about Star Wars, and shame on me, right? Because you know, you watch some of the Star Wars and I'm impressed.
Speaker 3Yeah, I used to watch them with my brother. Yeah, he had like the whole like movie set. I'll just do everything he did.
Speaker 2That's cool to connection with your families. That how is that? It's a big deal.
Thanksgiving Family Activity and Influencer Mixer
Speaker 3Yes, we're super close. I love my family.
Speaker 2How was the Thanksgiving family activity and was it was the typical last fun or was there some arguments in the background? How is that energy?
Speaker 3No, I feel like we enjoy our downtime, so it's really just like super relaxed vibes yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, y'all, whole family, just a bunch of go-getters and.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, I got it from them, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2Mom's a big inspiration.
Speaker 3For sure.
Speaker 2What does your mom do?
Speaker 3She is an interior designer.
Speaker 2Really.
Speaker 3So she kind of helps people design their home, yeah.
Speaker 2Is that where you got your color coordinating and your style from I?
Speaker 3feel like yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2She was a big deal on that.
Speaker 3And then yeah.
Speaker 2She help right now With what I mean we can go oh definitely.
Speaker 3She's at my shop right now and she's holding it down. She's holding it down. My customers love her.
Speaker 2Do you pair?
Speaker 3her. Yeah, you do pair her and close. Yeah, I took care of her. She's good, that's cool.
Speaker 2You go bring her some lunch.
Speaker 3Of course, okay, always ask her.
Speaker 2You being a good daughter right now. Yes, or let me ask you is there anything that you would like these people to know about Samantha's closet? You could tell them anything you want to know about Samantha's closet. You could tell them you know what you got coming up in the future. Oh, we actually talked about having an influencer mixer. Oh yeah.
Speaker 3That's a good idea.
Speaker 2You invite? Do you how many people you work with in the city? You feel like that. Have you know? Pr your clothes for you?
Speaker 3I don't know. I think I only have one girl here that I sent PR to oh nice, and then my models.
Speaker 2Yeah, oh, I guess I would say yeah, your models here, how many models you feel like you?
Speaker 3worked with, worked with yeah, let's see About like five girls.
Speaker 2Yeah, nice. That I still like work with, work with right now. Yeah, those are your girls right there, samantha's closet girls.
Speaker 3That's dope. I love them. What is that? That is funny.
Speaker 2What is that?
Speaker 3I don't even know how that happened. Oh my God, that is impressive. Wow, I wonder if that picked up. I hope not. That was scary. I can see, listen.
Speaker 2I didn't get a chance to see you. I'm not sure. I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure.
Speaker 3I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure.
Speaker 1I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not sure I didn't get a chance to see you.
Speaker 3I was like I was like, I was like I don't know, but you did that.
Speaker 2That was actually a video that I edit.
Speaker 3Wow, this video will pop up.
Speaker 2Keep that. I'm gonna keep that, cause that's.
Speaker 3I love random moments that kind of scared me.
Speaker 2Did you jump a little bit? A little bit, I will look at it to see if it's I was just like I think he's hyped for this.
Speaker 3I'm not this closet girl.
Speaker 2There it is. We got to, like we got to. We've got an event with you and you spend.

Speaker 2So the mixer part of this. We're gonna talk about this mixer part. So what would you imagine your mixer being like? I know it's gonna be at this amount of the closet right. What would you imagine? What type of drink would you have? What type of food would you have in there?
Speaker 3Definitely mimosas, the mimosas, mimosas, like some, like I don't know, I got to think about the food. Yeah, gotta get something catering Nice.
Speaker 2You have a favorite spot up here. You be eating it.
Speaker 3Favorite spot? What do you like going? I feel like it depends on what the type of food.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3Yeah, I like pizza, it's my favorite food.
Speaker 2So, listen, you can never go wrong with pizza. Ah, it brings joy.
Speaker 3Pizza's like my comfort.
