Leveling the Playing Field of Opportunity

Of the many values that drive nonprofits, perhaps none is more important than helping underserved populations gain fair access to resources and opportunity. Join us as three change-makers describe how their organizations are leveling the playing field of opportunity in unique and innovative ways.

SPEAKERS

Georgia Faye Hirsty ’22 SOM
is co-founder and co-director of Frailty Myths, a nonprofit that is actively reimagining femininity through transformative action-based workshops that provide the hands-on skills for women to fully explore the power and potential of their physicality. Her work also embraces DEI with a focus on developing equitable, high-performing teams and building a more just world.

David McCullough III ‘17 founded the American Exchange Project (AEP) in 2019, a first-of-its-kind, free cross-cultural exchange program for graduated high school seniors. AEP has been hailed as a domestic Peace Corps that is effectively bridging the gap and building greater understanding and empathy across class, cultural, racial, and geographical divides throughout our nation.

Susan Scheer ’85 is the CEO of the Institute for Career Development (ICD) a 100-year-old non-profit that prepares individuals with disabilities (IWD) for employment. The unemployment rate for IWDs was more than double that of people without disabilities before Covid, and IWD are disproportionately employed in industries that have suffered in the pandemic.
