Harris ‘91, performance artist and scholar and Professor of Poetry and Poetics at Illinois State University and Editor of Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora, moderated by Stephanie Rath ‘96, Chair of YANA Chicago. Duriel discusses the Obsidian publishing platform and US Black literary ecosystem, the promise of nonprofit partnerships, and the challenges and opportunities for literary publishing in US higher ed at a time of social upheaval. She will also share her experiences as an editor and artist, and explore the role of editing in the arts practice.
