This unequal breath work (pranayama) practice stretches from the deeper diaphragmatic breathing practice into one where the exhale lengthens beyond the inhale.

This unequal style with the longer breath out can be helpful to shift into a calmer state by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, help to quieten a busy mind, and reduce the feeling of stress.

However, sometimes it can be a little too much and activate feelings of anxiety, for example, so take your time with it and ease back as you need to if it no longer feels useful for you in that particular practice.
