Healing Waters - Day 52

Acts 5:15-16 -  Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.  There also came a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed, everyone.

Today's devotional passage is evidence that God heard and answered Peter and John's prayer. In the previous devotional, they had been harassed and arrested; instead of complaining Peter and John asked God for boldness and grace to deliver the message of Jesus. They also asked God to confirm His Word with signs and wonders.  After that prayer, the scripture tells us that they received another filling of the Holy Spirit and spoke the Word of God with boldness.  Acts 4:33 says, "And with great power, the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all."

In reading the first part of Acts 5, I found they had many, many challenges since that refilling, but the Apostles have not become discouraged,  the church is increasing, and many people are getting saved and blessed. On this day, multitudes have gathered in Jerusalem, even people from surrounding communities. They brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches that a least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. The scripture says that they also brought those tormented with unclean spirits, and they were ALL healed.  There was no one in the crowd checking for age, dismissing certain ones because some things just go along with age. There was no one dividing them into groups of race and gender or taking up an offering before prayer, and —no one asking about their addictions or previous sins.  The scripture tells us that they were ALL healed. The presence and power of God was present to heal ALL. The healing virtue of God operating through His servants was not and is not discriminating.

You've heard me say it many times; God hears and answers prayer.  I John 5:14 says, "This is the confidence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He Hears us." Matthew 18:19 says, "Again, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven." My friends, God hears and answers prayer! Many people are hurting in our midst, and their freedom and healing are attached to our, yours and mine, willingness to yield and obey God. God needs willing, clean vessels. People who love Him and will follow Him, people who are committed to the task of promoting His Kingdom, committed to being His hands and feet. When we yield, God will use our prayers and actions directed by and infused with the power and fire of the Holy Ghost to bring freedom and healing to many. When we do what Peter and John did, they prayed for boldness and grace. They asked God to confirm His Word with signs and wonders.

The chains of fear, shame, guilt, and pride can be broken by the power of the name of Jesus. The opposing forces of the enemy will crumble when Christians walk in the power and authority that God has given them. We want and need personal and corporate revival in this nation. It will start when we have genuine individual and corporate repentance. John 4:24 says, "God is a Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." In our devotional today, God's healing touch was present to heal, and that healing touch was not and is not discriminatory. It was not then, and it is not now based on age, gender, race, sin, addiction, or income; today, all can be healed!  So, let's repent and ask the Father today for forgiveness. Let's earnestly forgive others! Let's ask the Lord for the boldness and grace to declare the message of Jesus from a pure heart and with a pure motive. Let's ask Him to fill us again with His Holy Spirit. Let's call on the Lord and ask Him to restore our focus and then believe Him for a refilling. Acts 17:28  says, "For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring." John 15:5 says I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. When we yield to God and abide in him, we will bear much fruit; we will operate with great power and grace in bearing the witness of the resurrection of Jesus. And this, my friends, will result in the healing, deliverance, and salvation of many, and God will be glorified!

Let's Pray,

Lord,  we come you not just asking to experience miracles, signs, and wonders but a desire today for revival. Revival in our personal lives, revival in the church, and revival in this nation. Forgive us, O God, for the sins we have committed before you. Forgive us, Father,  for the idolatry, fear, and pride that we have walked in. We repent today, and we turn our hearts and our eyes towards you! Fill us again with the Holy Ghost and fire, teach us how to pray your will into the earth. Give us, O Lord, O holy boldness and grace to live out and proclaim the message of your Son, Jesus. Teach us how to use better the gifts, power, and authority that you have given us so that all may be healed in our midst and you may be glorified!  Lord, we submit to your will and direction today, use us go with us, and use us to exalt your name, and confirm your Word with signs and wonders. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen!
