Healing Waters - Day 59
1 Peter 2:24 - who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. (NKJV)
Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Isaiah 53: 6 says that God laid on Jesus the iniquity of us all. We were cursed, doomed to live our lives completely separated from God, and sentenced to spend eternity in Hell because of our sins. Oppression, affliction, sickness, evil, and sin were part of the curse. But Jesus Christ, the Son of God, volunteered to pay our sin debt and set us free from the curse of sin and death. His soul was made an offering for sin! Galatians 1:4 says, "He gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father."
When we accept this sacrifice of love in hearts and invite Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of our lives, we are then clothed in His righteousness. We are made new, saved, and the curse no longer has control over us. Our relationship with God, the Father, is restored, and we have the promise of eternity in heaven and wholeness on earth. John 10:9-11 says, "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep."
My friends, sickness is not our portion. Jesus came, died, and rose again so that you and I could experience abundant life. A life free from oppression, affliction, and evil. His stripes secured our healing; every disease must bow to the name of Jesus. He wants us well in our minds, bodies, souls, and spirits! The Lord wants you and I to have an abundant life free of disease and torment, so let's believe Him for that, despite what we see and how we feel. Friends, today, let's hold on to the stripes that secured our healing.
Isaiah 53: 3-5 – He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes, we are healed.
Let's Pray
Lord Jesus, I thank you for the sacrifice you made so that we could live free. Free of oppression, disease, and sin. Lord, I thank that you for setting us from the curse of sin and death. We thank you for salvation today, and we thank you for our righteousness of you and you alone. Release your healing virtue, O God, into every area of our lives, and bring us into the abundant life that your word speaks of. Forgive us of our sins and preserve us from the evil one. Be our guidance and fill us with your Holy Spirit! Let your glory, O Lord, be revealed in our lives today, and we'll forever praise you! We thank you, Lord, for redemption. We thank you for salvation, and we thank you that by the stripes of Jesus we are healed, in Jesus Name, Amen!
