This week I found myself feeling a sense of despair as I reflected upon the challenges everyone is facing during the pandemic. It is a very personal time and yet it has global effect. That leaves people with nowhere to turn. Talk about unprecedented. So I wrote a brand new piece of music and added words to help us find some relief from the strain of Covid. My podcasts are intended as therapy; Every episode is different and may evoke a different emotional response. Seek out the ones that work for you when you need them. I offer personal Guided Harmonies sessions over the phone. Want your own personal composition? Check out Guided Harmonies on my website: guidedharmonies.com

Welcome to Guided Harmonies, a podcast where I put words to my therapeutic music. Today’s music and words were written for all of us to address the unique challenge of living during a pandemic and feeling more fear and uncertainty than we are used to.

Let me tell you a little about how this works. Music and sound are created with vibrations that exist at different frequencies. Our bodies vibrate as well. Each different body part has its own unique vibration. Different musical frequencies will meet different parts of your body to create a connection. This will create a feeling of wellness and encourage mental, emotional, spiritual and physical healing.

Let’s get started:

As you lie here, notice how deeply you are breathing. How far are your ribs expanding. Do not change anything. Just notice and be exactly where you are now.

We are currently living with something that everyone on our planet is struggling with. No one may authentically reassure us because everyone is finding their own way. Some people feel fear for their health and the health of their loved ones. Some people are worried about their loss of freedom and their liberty. Others have lost income and work and have no idea when or how they will recover. Some are worried about the growing divisiveness as people feel more and more protective of their own personal circumstances. People also worry about communal and economic collapse. 2:04 And nobody knows how long this will last and when we may breathe easy again.

And our lives continue to live. Our regular stresses prevail. We deal with the challenges we all have that plague us ongoing. People are taxed. Our endurance is taxed. We don’t know if we have the stamina to manage and yet we have no choice. We feel trapped. We feel restricted. We feel controlled. We feel out of control. And few of us have ever been in a place like this, where we don’t know how or when we will feel better again.

As you breathe, pull your body inward toward a fetal position, allowing tight balls of muscle throughout your body. Hold it here as best as you can while you breathe.

Now Let it go. Feel your body expand. Stretch out your legs and your arms. Feel your spine lengthen. Let your chest expand.

Breathe deeply now. Feel your breath move toward your pelvis. Invite your chest to expand toward your shoulders. Notice your ribs expanding and contracting.

This is our chance to find our resiliency. This is our chance to stop focusing on our struggles. This is our chance to build our muscles of endurance. To live with fears and uncertainty. This is our chance to focus on what is here now and only now. This is our chance to show what we are made of.

Many of us talk about being present and learning to accept that which is in front of us. Now we are faced with true uncertainty and complete unknown. And we can do this. We will. And we will prevail.

Notice your breathing. Allow it to gently fill your torso without effort.
