Loving Commitments

Today’s episode, Loving Commitments, will be the last for a little while, for I am making my own loving commitment to expand my Guided Harmonies offerings. I will be offering workshops, personal sessions and of course, always more therapeutic music. Look for my latest album that I will release in the next week. It will be called Guided Harmonies and will be music only. Thank you for continuing to listen and believe in my podcasts. You listeners remind me to believe in myself when I falter.

Let’s get started.

Find a quiet place and sit back or lie down and close your eyes. Then let the Guided harmonies do their thing.

Do you ever find yourself thinking “here I am again”. Are there areas that You had big plans to create change and find traction on a path in your life? Yet it always seems to evade you. You felt ready to move forward and felt enthusiasm & promise. But then something slipped and you became triggered and just like that, you became derailed. And then ‘here you are again’.

Take a moment to check in with your breathing. How deep or shallow Are your breaths? Is your breathing laboured or natural? Tune in with the rest of your body. Start at your toes and do a scan all the way up to the top of your head. Take time to check in with each area and see if you notice any tension. Be curious if there is any change you can allow yourself to sink more deeply into your resting place.

Picture a hot air balloon on a warm sunny day, floating with ease in the sky. What colour is it? Is it a solid colour or does it have a design?  Now notice the shape of the balloon. It is narrow at the end where the hot air goes in and then it expands outwards in every direction. As you breathe, imagine that your breath may follow the same shape as your hot air balloon, expanding in every direction as the air enters your body, moving toward your pelvis and your your tailbone. Be gentle as you play with this a while.

What is a commitment to you? In the dictionary, it is defined as the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.. There is another definition related to an obligation. When it comes to yourself and your own personal journey it becomes a loving pact made with conviction. the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. If you are finding yourself feeling like you are stuck in a revolving door, all you need to do is make a commitment to a journey of self-awareness. As you continue to explore your deeper self, you will continue to find traction and you will not let the usual triggers take away your footing. And of course, from time to time you may lose that footing, yet if you continue to seek your centre you will not lose as much footing for as long.

You may be wondering if it could truly be this easy. You may be thinking you don’t always feel love for yourself. You don’t always believe in yourself and your potential. This is ok. NO matter how you are feeling in the moment, you still have your toolbox. What is in your own personal toolbox right now? What do YOU do to help yourself feel more connected? Do you spend time in nature? Perhaps you exercise or meditate? Maybe there is a friend, coach or therapist you connect with? Perhaps it’s a hobby or activity. This podcast alone and all its many episodes is a toolbox in itself.

You do not have to believe in yourself all the time. You just need to make a clear commitment to yourself. Pick a time frame – at least 6 months. And within that time frame, use your toolbox to stay with yourself and maintain your traction. Do not fret if you lose it from time to time. Then you may create some reminders to keep you going. Put a photo or make a collage and put it on your wall to remind you of your commitment. Ask a loved one to hold you accountable by giving them the script that you know you need to hear when you are faltering. Take a favourite piece of jewelry and assign it the symbolism of your commitment. Make a list of your tools as well, so when you struggle, you can pull one out that fits.

You are strong. You are capable. You do love yourself. You do believe in yourself. You can do this. In fact you ARE doing this.

Take as much time as you need to open your eyes if you plan to continue with your day. Allowing your breathing to intensify and prepare your body to think about moving.

Thank you for joining me today.
