Focus: accepting what is. Why do we seek change? It can be hard to recognize the difference between changes that would be nice versus changes that are needed. Sometimes all we need is to simply accept the flaws and imperfections in our life.  These songs were composed for guests on my other podcast "Miss Tweetie's Parents".

Welcome to Guided Harmonies, the podcast where I put words to my therapeutic music. My name is Margaret Dahlberg, and these episodes are designed to provide short moments of reconnect. I don't know about you, but I don't always have an hour to meditate. So my music is key to allowing to reach such depth in a short time. All you need to do is listen with a gentle curiosity. And if you doze off, it's really not a big deal because your unconscious brain will respond to the vibrations of the music. When you come back to presence, you will find you feel better. Today's episode is about accepting imperfection and finding momentum to create the changes you want to make versus the changes you have to make. The first song, Metamorphosis, was written for a Miss Tweety's parents podcast guest who was going through many changes in his life and trying to do the best for his kids. The song was meant to capture the excitement and the stressors of making changes, while at the same time representing the beauty of our innocence in wanting to do our best. Hidden Gem was written for another Miss Tweety's Parents podcast guest who has a special talent for cultivating beauty in her life. She is also a business owner who needs to be mindful of the impressions she creates. The song is meant to represent both perfection and imperfection at the same time, and the resulting beauty that can come in our lives when we embrace both. Let's get started. Sit back or lie down if you are able to, and close your eyes. Let these harmonies guide you to a better place. Imagine these moving notes are colorful fluttering wings. Imagine these moving notes are here to take you on a journey. These wings are here to lighten your load. These wings are here to remove the weight from your body, and they will lift you higher. Imagine these wings are releasing you to float high up above your world. You do not have a worry or a care. Now these wings are going to carry you anywhere you want to go. Think about where you have experienced beauty in your life. It can be the beauty of time shared with others, or the beauty of your surroundings. Where will you go? Let your memories choose this place. It may be spending time with certain people from your past or present. It could be traveling to a city or a beautiful natural area. It is whatever you want it to be. Imagine the scene in your mind. See if you can answer these questions without attaching emotion. Be curious. Where did you choose to go? Why did you choose this place? Is there something missing from your present life that has you wanting to revisit this place? As the music shifts, know that this music is going to gently and gradually float you back down again. Imagine your body safely and easily coming back to rest again. You are being released from your floating feeling and offered the warm luxury of resting your muscles and bones again. The earth will safely support your body. You can trust whatever you lie against. Just breathe. Where does your body feel the most wonderful sense of relaxation and heaviness? Perhaps it is in your pelvis. Maybe your lower back. It could be your shoulders. Notice how heavily your skull is resting. What about your shoulders and your arms? How heavy are your legs or your feet? Check in with your breathing. As you breathe, notice those places in your body you found that rest so deeply. Allow your breaths to encourage these places to let go even further. It can be hard to let go and fully trust that you are being held and supported safely. Just breathe and scan with a curiosity. Places of tension can be in the eyebrows, the eyes, jaw, neck, shoulders, belly, pelvis, knees, ankles. Just breathe and scan. Now return to those places in your body that are the heaviest and nourish them again with your breaths. You are supported here. Nothing is ever perfect in our lives. Yet you can still be here, trusting that where you are now can be perfect in its imperfection. Just breathe and feel yourself being held and supported. Do not rush to open your eyes if you plan to. If your breaths have deepened, you can energize them a bit before you start to let in the light. When you are ready, allow your eyes to crack open and be sure to move slowly at first. Thank you for joining me today. Do you want me to compose you your own guided harmony? Feel free to reach out. Have a wonderful day and know you have invested in your own wellness. And this will reach all of those around you.
