Calming Guided Harmonies: Quick Meditations
Recently selected by FeedSpot as one of 15 top Music Therapy Podcasts available. I create pieces of music and combine them with my words to bring listeners a greater sense of well being. Each episode addresses an emotional need or challenge. I like to think of them as 'micro-therapy' as they are all around 10 minutes or so, yet the vibrations of the music work efficiently to move the body and mind into a grounded place. I've been on my own journey of healing throughout my adult life, and I've discovered that composing these are healing and guiding for me personally. I like offering them out to anyone who could respond to their benefits. Every episode is different and may evoke a different emotional response. Seek out the ones that work for you when you need them. Guided Harmonies is the combination of original words put to therapeutic music, all written and created by me: Margaret Dahlberg. I also offer personal music, created for clients specific emotional needs: guidedharmonies.com
Calming Guided Harmonies: Quick Meditations
Blossoming Surrender
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Focus: relaxation. In order to surrender, we need to have blossomed on a personal level, allowing ourselves to accept exactly who are are right now. And, we hope that the roots we have established will keep us safe as we do.
Welcome to Guided Harmonies, the podcast where I put words into my therapeutic music. My name is Margaret Dahlberg, and I've designed these episodes to provide a short moment of reconnect. Because we don't always have time to meditate. I find the music can help us settle in quickly. All you need to do is listen with a gentle curiosity. And don't worry if you doze off. It's really not a big deal. The music in your brain are doing the real work. And when you come back to presence, you will feel better. Today's episode's first song is brand new. It's called Surrender, and I wrote it with this podcast in mind. I have a great friend who's done a lot of personal work over the years, and she's been inspiring me lately with that word surrender. I've been watching her make great strides incorporating it into her own life. If you're interested, you can hear this friend of mine chatting with me on my other sister podcast called How Do You Do Love with Meg and Ange, where we share our insights about relationships with lots of laugh. It's on all the podcast hosting sites. The second song, Roots and Blossoms, was written for a guest on Miss Tweety's Parents podcast. And this woman has roots. She grew up in a rural farming community with family and friends, and generally people who make themselves available to help and support one another whenever they can. Let's get started. Sit back or lie down if you are able and close your eyes. Let these harmonies guide you to a better place. Notice if you are relaxed or if you're waiting to see what happens next. See if you can allow yourself to just settle in and breathe however your body needs. Knowing that you will also float. And as you decide to fall, you notice that on instinct your chin slowly tips upward. And your eyes begin to look above your head. This invites your neck to bend in a backwards curve as it supports your weighty skull. And as this continues happening in slow motion, you know you are simply going to continue to float backwards. And you become aware that your breaths are deep and smooth and easy. Now you notice that invites your spine to follow the curve of your neck, and that your back begins to arch from the top of your spine to your shoulder blade area, your lower ribs, and then your lower back. This pushes your belly forward, and there is a marvelous sense of the slowness of the world holding your body safely as it continues in this slow motion fall. This invites your knees to just let go of holding up the rest of your body, and you notice your feet yearning to leave the ground, which relaxes your ankles, toes, and arches. Your whole body is completely relaxed. Except in this slow motion, your body is held, and you get to indulge in this feeling of floating. And as your body floats backward, with your head back, your eyes looking up, your arms out to the side, your belly forward, your pelvis tilted, and your ankles now far apart, you notice the scenery changes, and you find yourself in a beautiful bedroom. Now you know that when you land, you will land on the most comfortable bed with a pile of warm, cozy, and soft pillows. They are stacked on this bed behind you in your favorite colors. And these pillows are made of the softest and most strokable material. And because you are moving in such slow motion, you land gradually and comfortably. You are cradled and held by the mattress as you feel your entire body settling into the pillows. Everything sinks down and feels heavy. Your head, your shoulders, your torso and rib cage, your belly, your pelvis and buttocks, your thighs, your knees, your calves and your feet, and all you need to do is just breathe. And you know all is well, and you smile. If you're continuing with your day and your breaths have deepened, try to energize them a bit before you crack your eyes open and let in the light and move forward. Be sure to move slowly at first. If you're going to continue with your relaxation and move into a slumber, just continue to breathe deeply and easily. Thank you for joining me today.
