The weekend's over, it's Monday and it's time for the Back in Time Brothers on URL Radio.

Speaker 2

Oh no, We'll be right back. Let the music play well, what's up everyone.

Speaker 1

It is monday and it's time for the back in time brothers. Right here on url radio, I am dj paulie and of course I have my brother lou with me. Brother, how are you doing?

Speaker 3

I am doing great. We just came off of a Labor Day break.

Speaker 1

Oh man Isn't that great.

Speaker 3

Yes, and we're ready. We're amped up.

Speaker 1

It's nice to have some time off. It is I like that. I'll tell you what man. Is there anything new going on in your life?

Speaker 3

Oh, I don't know, maybe Did you join a special club? I did. Did you join it? Did you join a special club? I did? I joined the club that you, that you've been in for a couple years, yeah, for almost four years, I think four years already oh my god, isn't that crazy, yeah it is. And what club is that, bro? I'm a grandpa yes, you are.

Speaker 1

Congratulations. I wanted you to be the one to tell us how happy you are to be a grandfather. Um your youngest son and uh wife had a beautiful baby boy yes, very excited, you know.

Speaker 3

Thankfully, um, the weight was perfect. I mean, you know, I I thought it was going to be seven pounds one ounce. He's six seven, but look great. 21 inches long, looks just just just fabulous.

Speaker 1

And how long was he? 21 inches.

Speaker 4

They call him tripod, no.

Speaker 1

I'm just kidding. Yeah, beautiful, beautiful baby boy. God bless, and I'm so happy for you and, of course, for our family as well.

Speaker 3

But welcome to the club brother, thank you, thank you, it does change you. I've seen the joy that it's brought to your life, brother, thank you, thank you. It does change you. I've seen the joy that it's brought to your life and I felt the same thing.

Speaker 1

Yeah, you're in trouble because you're oh man, you're in so much trouble you watch that first time that he's going to look at you with that look and you're just going to melt. It's crazy.

Speaker 3

Oh yeah, I mean already. I mean it's just, you look into his eyes and it's just like my gosh, it melts you.

Speaker 1

That's awesome. Well, that's we're great. We're happy that you are a grandfather. But you know what, bro? I'm happy because it's Monday, and Monday means it's Monday fun day, isn't it?

Speaker 3

yes, and this day we're going to do something that you wanted to do. This is your idea. Yeah, it kind of was, wasn't it yeah, and I like it because, um, we've always enjoyed movie soundtracks oh yeah, big, big movie guys, right, big and music guys.

Speaker 1

I mean, when you put the two together it's like that's a win-win right. What makes when you go to a movie? Right, the movie of course, but you know, there's always those key moments in movies where a song makes the difference. Right, it just adds to a hundred percent. And I think you know doing some of these soundtracks today, I think the songs picked from it, I think, are going to be some of those highlights of the movie that are going to be that you, you kind of, every time you watch the movie, you think of that song with it, or vice versa.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I, I think there'll be those that you connect definitely to. And then I think there's a couple of surprises where you're like, oh yeah, I, I guess I don't even remember that song because I went, you know, as I picked a couple, I was just like, and then I remember kind of where it was in the movie and, thinking back on it, but yeah, it's kind of cool.

Speaker 1

Or just even remembering that that song was in the movie. Yeah, another one, so it should be fun. Of course, we have all our normal things that we're going to do. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 3

But I should say that these are all from the 80s. Well, duh which there's so many great soundtracks from the 80s, we could probably do about like 20 parts of that.

Speaker 1

Yeah so this is going to be actually part one. Well, there you go See, because there's so many damn movies from the 80s that you could go back and look at soundtracks. When we were talking about this just earlier, I thought of like I thought of one that, uh, we've talked about in the past but we've never, ever done anything about it, and you know a movie that is the last American version.

Speaker 3

Yes, so I looked at that, I looked at the soundtrack for it, and what's interesting is it had a lot of stuff like the police was on there, right you know, and it like the police was on there, right you know, it had some interesting things and other ones where you don't know they really know the song, and and then, once again, there's stuff that wasn't on the actual soundtrack.

Speaker 1

But in the stinks. It stinks because the songs in the last american virgin there was such great music that came out of that off that soundtrack, oh well, off the movie. I'm sorry, not off the soundtrack, but yeah, that would be something I would love to do, even though it wasn't on the soundtrack. Maybe music from the Last American Version.

Speaker 3

Oh yeah, that's one of the ones I've looked at that. I'm sitting there thinking is that a part of part two?

Speaker 1

Oh, very good. Well, before we get to part two, we got to do part one, and before we go even into part one, we got to do what we do best. Bro, it's time for those stupid criminals, isn't it? Let's do it.

Speaker 7

Busted.

Speaker 3

All right, here we go. Bakersfield, missouri, where Jared Ferguson was pulled over on a routine traffic stop. When it was determined that our Jared did not have insurance on the vehicle that's a no-no, that's a no-no. So the officer informed him that the car would have to be towed. Meanwhile, another deputy told him that, since it was so hot, he would give him a ride back to his residence. Very nice, that's pretty nice of him actually. Yes, great, said jared. Just let me grab something out of the back of the car.

Speaker 1

Okay, all right, you know this is gonna be bad already.

Speaker 3

No, it's gonna be bad, it's gotta be yeah, that's something turned out to be some canned vegetables, okay, and a bucket of marijuana oh, no, a bucket. So it was over a pound of marijuana, multiple baggies of meth weighing 43 43 grams a scale, a broken glass pipe and a cell phone.

Speaker 1

Burner phone huh.

Speaker 3

Guess what he was busted. Charged with felony drug trafficking and unlawful possessing of drug paraphernalia with intent to use. He did get a ride. It wasn't home, but he got a ride. Oh yes, he did. My God, what a dummy. But, I guess what he was going to do is he was afraid also that you know if he left it in there that he would get caught. But you know. God, you're kind of smart.

Speaker 1

Either way, he was going to get caught. He's going to get caught. Yep Dummy.

Speaker 3

All right, buffalo, new Mandy Rivers. I like that. Who stole 24 pairs of sneakers from the local Kohl's store? How many?

Speaker 1

24 pair when the hell was security at, holy crap.

Speaker 3

Thinking this was too easy, she returned the very next day and loaded 12 more pair Jeez, but guess what Tell me. This time security caught her. There you go, and she was held for police. She would have been charged with petty larceny, except for one thing she couldn't resist bragging to the cops about her successful theft the day before.

Speaker 7

She was busted.

Speaker 3

Now her charges have been raised to grand larceny.

Speaker 1

Just because Nike says just do it, doesn't mean you should do it.

Speaker 3

It's kind of like in Home, Alone the wet bandits.

Speaker 1

Right. Yeah, they left it at their calling card, right, that's right, that's right.

Speaker 3

She was bragging, so not a good thing, All right. Vero Beach, Florida, where the employees of Dunkin Donuts told police that Joseph Haynes had entered the shop several times and demanded free donuts, coffee and ice cream. Wow, His reason for the special treatment. He claimed to be a DEA and CIA agent who was working undercover at the donut shop to investigate crooked cops. Oh my God. So some not-so-crooked cops were called and our fake agent was Time to make the donuts. Busted. Arrested on a felony charge of falsely impersonating an officer.

Speaker 1

Oh God, you know that's funny. You know, when I remember when I worked for Nordstrom, did loss prevention for him, we had badges that were actually like state of New Jersey steel seal everything, oh, yeah they looked really impressive.

Speaker 1

They were like legitimate, like. So I would. You know, I carried it in my wallet all the time and when we had to stop shop we would present it and show them. So the one day and then I went into dunkin donuts to get a coffee I'm not even kidding you and I opened up my wallet to get money out and they're like oh no, officer, here you go. That's this on us, don't worry.

Speaker 3

And I was like oh, thank you appreciate it. Oh, that's good. Then they asked you for can you get me out of a ticket?

Speaker 1

sure, yeah so, yeah, no problem. What's your name? Write it down, I'll take care of it for you. Oh my gosh all right.

Speaker 3

Now we're going to portland, maine, where remus oats remus uncle remus was involved uncle remus, the catfish are huge zippity-doo-dah, was involved in an accident in which he crashed his car I'm sorry go ahead, let's get back to uncle remus go ahead.

Speaker 3

okay, uncle remus was involved in an accident in which he crashed his car into a fire hydrant. Okay, okay. When the police arrived, he asked Mr Oates to step out of the car to take a field sobriety test. Remus obviously misunderstood the request, thinking the officer had asked him for a urine test. He unzipped his pants and peed on the front tire of the officer's cruiser. Bad idea, he was unzipped.

Speaker 4

Biddy do die. Busted the officer's cruiser. Bad idea, he was unzipped bitty dude. Died, busted.

Speaker 1

He said he's a zippy dude out his pants is what he did yes, he did, charged with driving drunk and indecent conduct.

Speaker 3

Oh my gosh, those people that don't know there was a like a disney show that's been banned, called song of the South. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1

It is probably one of the most racist things I've ever seen in my life. Kind of it is so terrible. You know, I think as a kid you don't realize it as a kid, but when you see it as an adult you're like, oh, I mean I think me and you watched a little bit of it, remember.

Speaker 4

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1

All these stereotypes, oh my god, this is terrible.

Speaker 3

I I felt terrible watching it, like I was like we gotta stop, we can't do this anymore. Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh my god. But I went to the movies as a kid to see that movie. That's crazy isn't it?

Speaker 1

yeah, geez. And then, right after that, everyone went to a kkk meeting jesus.

Speaker 3

so, yep, you're gonna love this name of this town. Are you ready? I'm ready. Could be our new favorite town. It's in Pennsylvania. You know what it's called Blue Ball, big Beaver.

Speaker 1

Oh, it is my favorite town right now. You know I used to love our home office of Council Bluffs, iowa, but now it's all about Big Beaver.

Speaker 3

Big Beaver, Pennsylvania, where Jennifer Taylor checked out of the local Holiday Inn Now hotel. Employees called the cops when they discovered that, in addition to checking herself out, she also checked out about $206 worth of items, including two comforters, two throw blankets, four pillows, an alarm clock, coffee pot a basket and a basket and a hair dryer.

Speaker 1

Oh, she went all out.

Speaker 3

Those comforters aren't nice, though the police were able to track our perp down at another nearby hotel. It was during questioning that she offered up the stupid criminal excuse of the week.

Speaker 4

It's the stupid criminal excuse of the week.

Speaker 3

She told the police that it was in fact her evil twin sister who had stolen the items. And it was not her. Oh, of course, the twin sister, the twin sister. She was unable to explain why she was in possession of the stolen stolen items and why birth records showed that she did not have a twin. She was busted and delusional. Oh my gosh busted in big beaver yeah, uh, staying in, uh in pennsylvania're going to go to Scranton oh good old Scranton, I've been there, yes.

Speaker 3

Where 24-year-old Justin Kowalski was buying some drugs from his dealer. Just a nice little friendly transaction, I was going to say a typical Sunday in Scranton. In Scranton Don't know for sure how it happened, but in the middle of negotiations he accidentally dialed 911 on his cell phone.

Speaker 3

Hmm okay, or 911, I should say, and of course emergency operators are trained to listen carefully to any conversation they hear on the 911 line. After determining exactly what was going on, the operator contacted the dispatcher, who sent officers over to investigate. Operator contacted the dispatcher, who sent officers over to investigate. When they arrived at his residence, they found him in possession of numerous drugs. He was busted.

Speaker 1

I would think that Pennsylvania, going back to Big Beaver, I would think that Pennsylvania probably has the weirdest names of towns, don't they?

Speaker 3

There's some weird ones there, but in Washington State there's a lot of crazy ones up there too.

Speaker 1

Really, because Pennsylvania has a lot of sexual ones. There's Blue Ball, isn't there? Like. Orgasm or something like that. Oh, I don't know.

Speaker 3

Or something like that.

Speaker 1

yeah, we could do some research on that. Maybe we might do a little segment on weird towns of the United States. Oh yeah, that wouldn't be bad. How about that Good old? All right, you ready?

Speaker 3

for the international file. Where are we going today, bro? Someplace really exotic. Are you ready? England Aktobe Kazakhstan Aktobe Got to be to be Kazakhstan. Act to be, got to be. Act to be. That's right, kazakhstan. How about that? That's different.

Speaker 1

Where the heck is Kazakhstan? Where the hell is that?

Speaker 3

at when all the other stands are.

Speaker 1

Oh, okay, kind of that.

Speaker 3

Russian area yeah, that kind of stuff Gotcha so where our unidentified man stole a 14-pack of beer from a store oh boy, this could have happened in Pennsylvania.

Speaker 2

But it's happening in.

Speaker 3

Kazakhstan. In a classic case of his eyes being bigger than his stomach, he drank eight bottles and decided to return the remaining six back to the store saying he no longer wanted it. I didn't know that you could do that I know he was quickly detained and he was busted interesting did he go back for, like a refund?

Speaker 1

yeah, that's what I'm thinking, right, you know I bought this 14 pack, but I only wanted eight, so can I get a refund on the six? I don't think it works that way, my friend.

Speaker 3

Ah, yes, indeed. So there you go, stupid criminals.

Speaker 4

Oh, stupid criminals. They never learn. Always making the wrong turn with the dim-witted schemes. They try to be sneaky, but in the end they're just laughable and freaky. But in the end they're just laughable and freaky. You're listening to the. Back in Time. Brothers on URL Radio.

80s Movie Soundtrack Nostalgia

Speaker 3

Oh, yes, indeed. So, brother, first movie soundtrack and movie we're going to talk about. If I tell you, it's about a classic coming of age film that follows loudon swain, a high school wrestler determined to achieve his goals. What does that spark for you?

Speaker 1

well, I know, but first it's funny how it's always it's a coming of age film, isn't it? Every movie from the 80s the coming of age film of where that's right, of course. We're talking about good old wrestling film, right? Old matthew modine. Yes, and we're talking vision quest baby oh man, that was a fun movie.

Speaker 3

That was real good movie, mainly because you had that the older woman, carla, played by linda uh florence fiorentino or whatever. Yeah, yeah, she was hot you know, because let's face it in high school, you know, you and an older woman, that's like. You know, that's kind of a pretty typical uh fantasy oh, without a doubt, right without a doubt, that's a good, that was a good movie. Anything you remember about the movie uh, linda fiorentino remember her well.

Speaker 3

I had vision quests about her all the time yes, but do you also remember who was in the bar scene?

Speaker 1

oh god. No, it's been a long time since I've seen this. Yes, you're gonna have to refresh my memory please.

Speaker 3

A certain artist performed two songs in a bar scene. One song was called gambler and the other one song was crazy for you oh, that's, right, madonna. Yes, madonna I forgot that that was in that too, yeah uh, yes, this film uh took place in spokane, washington, and that's where they filmed it. And uh, yeah, I just remember, you know you, it really kind of showed what wrestlers have to go through making weight and just all the oh my god, it was heavy duty.

Speaker 1

It really was, um, you know, just for him, yeah for him, making weight and like the sweating, like you know, putting on the sweatshirts and the hoodies and sitting in the steam and all that stuff, yeah, working out, yeah, it's a lot, it was a lot, it was a lot involved and it was a really good movie. I'm going to have to watch that again, jesus, I think. So I'm going to have to check that out. I know I hear you it's been a long time.

Speaker 3

So this soundtrack let's talk about some of the things that were on this soundtrack, okay, so I won't mention had two songs on this Gambler which I don't even remember that song and then Crazy for you, which was a big hit. Oh, that was huge, yeah. Then you had Foreigner Hot-Blooded. You had Sammy Hager I'll Fall in Love Again. Okay. You had Dio Hungry for Heaven, don Henley she's on the Zoom you had, which I think is a really cool song, shout to the top by the style council. I almost picked that song to play, but I don't want to go with another one style council nice, yes.

Speaker 3

And then red rider, lunatic fringe. Old tom cochran, lunatic french, yeah, so that's a pretty damn good soundtrack, that is. That is actually really good, yes, but we're gonna play two songs here. The first one we're gonna play oh my god, so often and I've seen journey several times, I think you have too, and they've a lot of times they'll open up with this song, right, only the young. Oh, such a good song, it's such a great song. I love it, love it, love it, love it. It was originally going to be on the frontiers album, but they pulled it for um, for some other songs, and they put it on the uh, vision quest album. Very nice, yes, so we'll play that one. And then I've got john wait the song. John Waite, the song is Change.

Speaker 1

Oh, that's such a good song.

The Wisdom of Youth

Speaker 3

It's a great song. I was listening to him like I haven't heard in a long time and I played it. I'm like, oh man, this thing rocks, it's a banger, it's a banger. So, brother, we're going to go back to back bangers. Here we go. Only the Young and Change John Waite.

Speaker 2

Here we go. You can hear the thunder. They'll cry Ahead of their time. They wonder why the shadows of a golden age? A generation waits for dawn Break and yawn. But let us grow.

Speaker 2

Oh, let the young come, say they're free to fly away, sharing the same desire, turning life on fire. I've seen through the promises and all the lies that they have to tell. Is it heaven or hell? They know very well. Only the young can say their freedom, fly away. Sharing the same desire, running like wildfire. I'm burning like water. Oh, let the young girls say that freedom's not a way, freedom flowing, sharing the same desire, burning like wildfire. Only the young can sing. Only the young can sing. Only the young can say Let the young can say Young can say. Only the young can say Let the young can say Let our love go down.

Speaker 2

People talking and they're saying that you're leaving, it's so unhandy With the way that you've been living. Oh, we always wish for money, we always wish for fame. We think we have the answers. Some things ain't ever gonna change. It doesn't matter who you are, it's all the same. What's in your heart won't ever change. Look in the mirror and see how you've been taken. Now your heart is breaking. Oh, we always wish for money. We always wish for fame. We think we have the answers. Some things ain't ever gonna change.

Speaker 2

It doesn't matter who you're at, it's all the same. What's in your heart will never change. Do you remember when you got your lucky break? You're looking back now and it seems like a mistake. We always wish for money. We always wish for money. We always wish for fame. We think we have the answers. Some things ain't ever gonna change. It doesn't matter who you are, it's all the same. What's in your heart will never change. It's all the same. What's in your heart will never change, it's only change. It doesn't matter who you are, it's all the same. What's in your heart will never change. It doesn't matter who you are, it's all the same. What's in your heart will stay the same. It doesn't matter who you are, it's all the same.

Speaker 3

What's in your heart. It's only, it's only, it's only change. That's not a bad start.

Speaker 1

It's a bang set man. That's awesome.

Speaker 3

All right, so, staying in the sports theme, I decided to go, and we always know that the rocky movies always churn out great soundtracks, always yeah, without a doubt inspirational music, and you got survivors always on there always, and frank's the long and frank play, play in the movie somewhere.

Speaker 1

That's right, that's right.

Speaker 3

So the Rocky IV soundtrack once again another loaded one, and I think it was the most successful from a box office perspective movie. And what was so great about it is you had Apollo Creed in it, you had Dolph Lundgren, drago, I mean.

Speaker 1

So you had that USs versus russia or soviet union at the time, and it was at a key time in in the world too, that's right, russia and us were like you know, that was a, that was a big deal. So I mean people were. I mean it was like you went to the movie theater when I remember going to see this in the movie theater and people in the movie theater were chanting usa, like in the theater. It was like, holy crap, big time, big. Oh my, it was amazing. It was a definitely just a huge, huge movie, for sure yeah, and so this came out in 1985.

Speaker 3

What a great period for music overall and movies. Listen to the soundtrack. So you had, you had go west, had a song on there called one way street. Okay, you had the classic living in america, james brown. Oh, it's classic. They, uh, of course, played I have the tiger in it, but survivor. You had kenny loggins, gladys night, doing a song called double or nothing. Uh, and a pretty good song on here. It's just. I'm not a big john cafferty fan, but hearts on fire. That was a pretty good song, had a really good upbeat thing. And then the two songs that we're going to play off of here.

Speaker 3

The first one we've got to play, survivor, burning heart oh yes, classic what's cool about burning heart or survivor actually was remember how we talked about on the, the last before labor day, we had a show, um, where we did the decades, and ides of march was on there with the same vehicle. So jim peterick, of course he's here with survivor, so he's doing burning heart, so I think that's kind of cool. And then the next song, the last one we're doing. This one is no easy way out robert tepper that's.

Speaker 1

You know that's a, that's a. I remember that song so well because it was at a very, very key part in the movie where, yes, after apollo has died and rocky gets in his you know his lamborghini and he's driving around and this song is playing and he's, all these things are hitting him, these visions of dolph lundgren and and yep, and apollo dying and mickey and all this stuff and it's so. It's a really key part in the movie. Um and the and the song is a great song. I mean, it rocks, so it's really cool. Yeah, that's, it's again. It's one of those things where you, when you hear a song, you remember the part of the movie 100 and and so robert tepper is is probably not really well known other than that song.

Speaker 3

But just to give you, he had one co-writing credit. Are you ready for this? He wrote into the night. Co-wrote it with Benny Mardonis. Oh, oh, into the Night. That was brutal.

Speaker 1

Isn't that the bad song? It's a terrible song.

Speaker 4

She's only 17. Know what I mean? I'm going to steal her from dad and I'm 42,. Oh yeah, that's a terrible song. Oh my God. I take you into the night and lift you up.

Speaker 3

Is that like a kidnapping story? What's?

Speaker 1

happening here. It sounds exactly like a kidnapping song, doesn't it? Holy crap All right you should play that after you play Every Breath you Take.

Speaker 3

Yeah, we got the dark side of Robert Tepper here.

Speaker 1

Oh, I don't know if he wants to be related to that go-right song on that one no doubt about it, but fun movie.

Speaker 3

I thought it was some great. Now, in this film I guess Dolph Lundgren and Carl Weathers hated each other. That's what I heard.

Speaker 1

Okay, all right. Yeah, I heard that. And then I also heard too, when Dolph and Rocky were doing the boxing. They were actually hitting each other a few times and Dolph broke his nose or just messed up. Sylvester Stallone, yes, yeah.

Speaker 3

Yeah, a lot of serious. Hey, you got to stop that.

Speaker 4

Dolph, it's hurting a little bit. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3

All right, brothers, let's play some of the Rocky four soundtrack. Let's kick it off with a little burning heart, and then no easy way out.

Speaker 1

I must break you Two worlds, collide rival nations.

Speaker 2

It's a primitive clash, bidding years of frustration Bravely, we hope, against all hope. There is so much at stake. It seems our freedom's up against the rules. Does the crowd understand? Is it east versus west or man against man? Can any nation stand alone? In the burning heart Just about to burst, there's a quest for answers and a bridge over thirst In the darkest night, rising like a spire In the burning heart. The unmistakable fire In the burning heart. The unmistakable fire In the burning heart. In the warrior's coat, there's no surrender. Though his body says stop, his spirit cries Never deep, deepen our soul. A quiet ember Knows it's you against you. It's the paradox that drives us all. It's a battle of wills. In the heat of attack, it's the passion that kills. The victory is yours alone. In the burning heart just about to burst, there's a quest for answers and a dwindle to burst In the darkest night, rising like a spire In the burning heart, the unmistakable fire, thank you. In the burning heart Just about to burst, there's a quest for answers and a quench of the thirst In the darkest night, rising like a spire In the burning heart. The unmistakable fire In the burning heart. The unmistakable fire In the burning heart Just about to burst. There's a quest for answers and a twitch of a burst In the darkest night, rising like a spire In the burning heart. The unmistakable fire In the burning heart. Guitar solo we're not indestructible. Baby, better get that strength.

Speaker 2

I think it's unbelievable how you're given to the hands of fate. Something's always fighting for. Some feelings never die. I'm not asking for another chance. I just wanna know why there's no easy way out. There's no easy way out. There's no shortcut home. There's no easy way out. Giving in can't be wrong. I don't wanna pacify, I don't wanna drag you down, but I'm feeling like a prisoner, like a stranger in a no-name town. I see all the angry faces, afraid that could be you and me Talking about what might have been. I'm thinking about what it used to be. There's no easy way out. There's no shortcut home. There's no easy way out. Giving in can't be wrong. We can shed this skin. We can know how we're feeling sane, instead of going down an endless road Not knowing if we're dead or alive. Something's worth fighting for. Some feelings never die. I'm not asking for another chance. I just want to know why there's no easy way out. There's no shortcut home. There's no easy way out. There's no shortcut home. There's no easy way out.

Speaker 2

Giving in, giving in, can't be wrong. No, there's no easy way out. There's no easy way out. There's no shortcut home. There's no shortcut home. There's no easy way out. There's no easy, no easy, no easy way out. There's no easy way out. There's no easy way out. There's no shortcut home. There's no shortcut home. There's no easy way out. There's no easy, no easy, no easy way out. There's no easy way out. There's no easy way out. There's no easy way out.

Speaker 3

There's no shortcut out, there's no easy way out. All right, brother, first set is in the books, so I guess it's now time for some random Facts. Facts, facts, facts, facts People talking.

Speaker 4

And the saying that you're leaving Someone happy With the way that you've been living. Oh, we always wish for money. Okay, I'm sorry.

Speaker 3

Change, a little change. I love that song.

Speaker 1

That's such a good song it is I got to add that to one of my playlists now. Yep, yep, so good.

Speaker 3

All right. Amazingly, goalies in the NHL League played without mass until 1959.

Speaker 1

Can you imagine I mean a slap shot coming at you, oh my god, and you know the way they slap shot, now like, but back then, like you know, even like 75 80 mile an hour slap shot.

Speaker 3

Yeah, to the teeth man, damn done yeah a lot of those goalies didn't have any teeth, my goodness.

Speaker 1

Well, yeah, they didn't have nothing after getting hit in the head. Career ended very quickly for them.

Speaker 3

Four out of five brides in the US have a job.

Speaker 1

And you know what else too? Four out of five dentists recommend Trident for your chewing pleasure.

Speaker 3

There are approximately 1,300 species of scorpions, but only 25 of them are deadly.

Speaker 1

Oh, that's good to know.

Speaker 3

Yes, of course I live in scorpion land and I've seen them, but thankfully I've not been bit. Well, thank God for that yes or stung rather yeah, stung my son's been stung before, though, has he? Yeah, really, yep. Son's been stung before, though, has he? Yeah, really, yep. I mean the big ones, don't? They don't unleash a lot of venom at you, but like the babies, they don't know. So if you get bit by one of the small ones, they just they unload everything, and so those are the most dangerous oh, good to know, yep one in 2 000 babies are born with a tooth that is already visible.

Speaker 3

Holy crap, you don't want to be breastfeeding with that tooth.

Speaker 1

Oh Jesus, that hurt Taking out a nipple, oh yikes.

Speaker 3

Elephants can't jump, but every other mammal can. Could you imagine if you had jumping elephants? Oh my God, oh Jesus, oh Jesus. Jump, but every other mammal can. Could you imagine if you had jumping elephants?

Speaker 1

oh my god that's like that's like the, you know the, the ostriches that can turn their necks around.

Speaker 3

Yeah, like jesus, oh my god, thank goodness they can't jump. Oh, my god, elephants can't jump. So you know, you've seen in movies. And of locust swarms, right, yeah, all right. So this happens because they have a hot spot behind their hind legs and it gets stimulated when there's a bunch of them together and this causes this destructive nature. So a large swarm of locusts can actually eat 80,000 tons of corn in a day. Wow.

Speaker 1

So they get pleasure. Pleasurable spot. So it's like a locust orgy is what it is. Yeah, Jeez. You're just going to town on corn man. Jeez, that's right. That's right, I'll take it. You're just going to town on corn man.

Speaker 3

Jeez, that's right, that's right. Scientists have discovered that the longer the ring finger is in a man, the less chance they have of having a heart attack.

Speaker 2

Oh, that explains why mine are short.

Speaker 1

I thought you were going to say something else. The longer the ring finger the longer your penis is. That's weird, though. Ring finger long, long, and just how do they come up with these things? I do it's just so bizarre sometimes. Yeah, you won't die.

Speaker 3

You won't have a heart attack because you have a long ring finger the microwave oven was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket really you sure it just wasn't hot out?

Speaker 1

I don't know. I could take a piece of chocolate and hold on to it outside in the 90 degree weather. It'll melt. I don't need a microwave for that.

Speaker 3

Yes, yes he made the leap to that, I guess, but it worked. Yes, yeah, I don't know. I'd be a little freaked out by that you're like I would do. Is this like radioactive here? Am I going to die? Yeah, is my leg going to fall off? What's going on? It takes seven to 10 days to make a jelly belly, jelly bean. I can't believe it takes that long for that process.

Speaker 1

I wouldn't think so. I think it'd be pretty quick Wow.

Speaker 3

But I guess we don't know what it takes to make a jelly belly. No, but clearly seven to ten days. So seven to ten days process. Yeah, that's the process. Approximately 25 000 workers died during the building of the panama canal and approximately 20 000 of them contracted malaria and yellow fever.

Speaker 1

That makes sense wow, I mean, I just wouldn't think about, you know, know, I guess. Yeah, I mean malaria, for sure.

Speaker 3

Yeah, that's deadly yeah literally 25,000 people deadly Damn. Women who drink more than two cups of coffee a day have a higher chance of developing osteoporosis. Really, yeah, hmm, interesting, mm-hmm, listen to this.

Speaker 1

Osteoporosis really, yeah, interesting some of this, britains eat over 22 tons of french fries a week. They love their chips, they love their chips, that's right, holy crap.

Speaker 4

They love their chips with their malt vinegar termites work 24 hours a day.

Speaker 1

They do not sleep there, that's some dedicated workers right there, damn 24 hours a day. Can you imagine if we did that? As humans. No, no, I don't want to even think that.

Speaker 3

No, but those little suckers are just sitting there eating wood and knocking down your house, man they're not just going to town man Just working overtime. All right, brother, it is fetish time. Oh boy, and I brought for you international fetishes. How's that?

Speaker 1

International.

Speaker 3

Yes.

Speaker 1

Wow.

Speaker 4

Been around the fetish and now yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1

This is one from Sweden, sweden, okay, the Swedes getting involved here, all right, yes.

Speaker 3

So here's the question have you ever found yourself turned on by a young, healthy, fully clothed Swedish woman hobbling on crutches? What?

Speaker 1

Yes, the first problem I have is not even the crutches. It's a young. The word young, or do we back to into?

Speaker 3

the night. What's going on? Oh no, don't even worry about that, young. But uh oh, um, yeah, it's, it's, it's about the crutches. So, uh, yeah, it's about the crutches. Listen to this. They actually have a website called Swedish Crutch Cast and Sprain Girls. Really, it caters for those who want to knock their socks off to videos of ladies on crutches in plaster or bandages. Is it because they can't run away fast?

Speaker 1

Is that what it is?

Speaker 3

I don't know. Maybe there's some weird connections, like someone's hobbled up so I can take advantage of you.

Speaker 1

I't know that's what I'm saying. That's like just bizarre. Every time I hear crutches, I always think of um, oh god, I just the movie just slipped my mind. Um, but the movie back. Uh, you're gonna, you're gonna help me out here? Uh, patrick swayze, ralph macchio, uh, outsiders, outsiders oh, the outsider. Remember when ralph macchio. He's in the hospital, he's like doctor says I ain't never gonna walk again, not even on crutches oh my gosh, yeah.

Speaker 3

Well, there you go, the swedish crutch fetish. What's thatcom? Swedish crutchcom.

Speaker 1

Oh my God, that's terrible, it's terrible, terrible.

Speaker 3

All right, and then the last one we're going to Japan.

Speaker 1

Oh boy, I feel like they have a lot of weird things going on in Japan. They, they do.

Speaker 3

They do.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I mean, they act like they're like, so like, you know, like we, we, yeah, I mean they act like they're like, so like you know, like we, we build everything, we make everything.

Speaker 3

We're these great people. I think they're weird. I think there's some weird things going on there's yeah, you know it's. It's such a click, this closed off culture, that they have right fetishes. Yeah, okay so this one's called iproctophilia. So if I say procto, as in proctologist, oh no oh no oh yeah, the arousal of being farted on your face, oh, no give me a nice wet juicy one honey, yeah, yeah I don't want you crop dusting me, I want you to plant it.

Speaker 1

don't you dare crop dust me, me, I want you to plant it.

Speaker 2

Don't you dare crop dust me. Plant that thing right on there.

Speaker 1

Plant it, fertilize it, that is gross.

Speaker 3

It is gross, that's right. Oh my God, the Japanese, there we go. That was random.

Speaker 4

Crappy. Two worlds collide, rival nations. It's a primitive clash eventing years of frustration. Bravely, we hope, against all hope, of course that verse is too damn long. We never got to it. It's a burning heart. Yeah, all right.

Speaker 3

All righty. Next movie we have Tell me It'sy. Next movie we have Tell me it's a coming of age romantic comedy.

Speaker 4

What is it?

Speaker 1

What a coincidence. So was that one about the wrestling guy.

Speaker 3

This explores themes of love, social class and self-acceptance. Oh, you got to love that. Written by John Hughes. We're talking pretty in pink, 1986. Love it, love it.

Speaker 1

Yeah, great movie, um, of course, molly ringwald andrew mccarthy played, played the love interest, and then of course you got john cryer who played ducky, ducky, ducky, ducky and, and you also had a special guest appearance by played the security guy at the club, andrew dice clay oh my gosh, I forgot all about that.

Speaker 3

So the ending to this originally andy was going to choose ducky, but when they when they tested it, the audience has disliked it and so they went. He goes, ends up with blaine, but um it still sparks a debate today oh blaine, yes, ducky, blaine ducky ducky, blaine.

Speaker 1

Hmm, what were you going to see, andy, with? We dread to see where the guy named ducky or a guy named blaine. Either way, I think it's a loss, it's a lose situation. But um, ducky was kind of, you know, you felt sorry for him because he was in love with her and you know, and um, the classic guy who's not going to get the girl, but, um, you know, whatever, and at the end of, at the end of the movie, you know he's happy for her, obviously, but, um, because, you feel sorry for ducky?

Speaker 1

you feel sorry for him, sure do. And then he went on and had to go move in with his brother on two and a half men, go figure so this, this movie had some really cool new wavy style songs.

Speaker 3

You've got the classic, please, please, please, let me go. The smiths, yeah, which you know was also part of ferris bueller's, but the dream academy version, which is kind of cool. You had bring on the dancing horses echoing the bunnymen. Another one you had bluey. Some had a song called round round new order had shell shock, great song, that's in there. You had the psychedelic first with the title track pretty in in Pink. You had In Excess, do what you Do. Jesse Johnson, get to Know Ya. And then these two songs that we're going to play here. We're going to go ahead and kick it off with, if you Leave, orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, omd. And then we've got Left the Center, suzanne Vega with Joe Jenks. Ready, let's do it. If you leave, don't leave now. Please don't take my heart away. Promise me just one more night, then we'll go our separate ways. We've always had time on our sides.

Speaker 4

Now it's fading fast, every second, every moment. We've got to, we've got to make it last. I touch you once, I touch you twice. I won't let go at any price. I need you now like I need you then. You always said we'd still be friends someday. If you leave, I won't cry, I won't waste one single day. But if you leave, don't look back, I'll be running the other way. Seven years went under the bridge, like time standing still.

Speaker 2

Heaven knows what happens. Now You've got to, you've got to stay away. I touch your arms, I touch you twice. I won't let go at any price. I need you now like I need you. Then You're all I send. Leave me again. I touch you once, I touch you twice. I won't let go at any price. I need you now, like I need you there. You always said we'd still be friends. I touch you once, I touch you twice. I won't let go at any price. I need you now like I need you. Then you always said we'd meet again Someday. You always said we'd meet again someday.

Speaker 8

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. If you leave, if you leave, if you leave, don't look back. Don't look back. If you want me, you can find me Left of center, off of the strip, in the outskirts and in the fringes, in the corner, out of the grip. If you want me, you can find me Left of center, off of the strip, in the outskirts and in the fringes, in the corner, out of the grip, not much.

Speaker 8

I think they know that I'm looking at them. I think they think I must be out of touch, but I'm only in the outskirts and in the fringes, On the edge and off the avenue, and if you want me, you can find me left of center, wondering about you. I think that somehow, somewhere inside of us we must be similar, if not the same. So I continue to be wanting you left of center, against the grain, and if you want me, you can find me left of center, off of the strip, in the outskirts and in the fringes, in the corner, out of the grip.

Speaker 8

When they ask me, what are you looking at? I always answer nothing, much, not much. I think they know that I'm looking at them. I think they think I must be out of touch. But I'm only in the outskirts and in the fringes, on the edge and off the avenue, and if you want me, you can find me left of center, wondering about you. If you want me, you can find me left of center. Thank you, wondering about you, wondering about you. If you want me, you can find me left, left, center, wondering about you. If you want me, you can find me left, left, center, wondering about it.

Speaker 3

You can find me left, left center, wondering about it, wondering about it. All right, brother. So now you know what.

Speaker 1

I got to go back to Pretty in Pink real quick.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

You know what one of my favorite scenes in that is? Tell me, when Ducky sings Try a Little Tenderness. Oh, in the record shop.

Speaker 3

Oh, nice call.

Speaker 1

That's a good part, man. Yes.

Speaker 3

All right, this movie. We've played these songs, songs before, but it's one of our favorite soundtracks. It's a fun movie. It's a, it's a great. You know hollow, you know you can use it for halloween or you can do during a summer and it's just great.

Speaker 1

The lost boys oh, dude, one of the best one of the best.

Speaker 3

It's such a great movie.

Speaker 1

It's the darkness of it, but then you know it's just the, it's just. Oh, you've got these young teenager vampires.

Speaker 1

So would you say it's a coming of age story, it's a coming of death story of vampires sucking blood from people and the crazy it's the coming of age of a bunch of vampires and the crazy antics they go about. You know, um, you know, it's just it was. It was something that you know as a me, as a teenager during that time. It was like it was cool, like you know who who doesn't think vampires are cool, like they, you know. And then these guys were leather and they were. You know, they were like young kind of punks and they were, and it was cool. You wanted you, you kind of rooted for them a little bit.

Speaker 3

Yeah, yeah I. I think you know keifer sutherland in that role is perfect yeah, yeah, I think so, he's, he's, he's great who do you think they modeled his character after? Who? A keifer? Yeah, the look for him. I don't know. Billy Idol oh yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker 3

And then you had Jason Patrick, who was kind of like this. He was almost like a space cadet that guy.

Speaker 1

Well, I think he was high the whole time. Yeah, I think he was stoned.

Speaker 3

Oh my God.

Speaker 1

Yeah, there's, yeah, there's no doubt. And then you had Jamie Gertz.

Speaker 3

Oh star, she was a star definitely.

Speaker 1

Jamie Gertz yummy. She's one of the richest women and you know that. What Jamie Gertz is like, how she owns, I think she's like a part owner of, like a hockey or basketball team Professional her and her husband oh geez.

Speaker 3

Yeah, she's like filthy rich, no idea Filthy, jamie Girtz.

Speaker 1

Ladies and gentlemen, she's filthy, jamie Girtz. She is filthy, she looked filthy in that, yeah, and then, of course you had the Corys, right, the Corys yeah.

Speaker 3

Yeah, so Corey Haim who played Michael's brother, jason Patrick's brother, but then you had the Frog brothers, corey Feldman and this Jameson Newlander. Oh my God, they were funny, they were great though.

Speaker 1

As much as I can't stand Corey Feldman and how he's morphed into a weird Michael Jackson lookalike. He played that role really well, I mean, and Corey Feldman was a great actor as a kid he did. His roles were great, sure, sure, sure. Everything he touched he was good at and then it's just you know, but it was such a cool, cool. And who played the grandfather that was, his role was pretty important in this.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I forget what the hell his name was. Oh, barnard Hughes, barnard Hughes, barnard Hughes, that's who played him.

Speaker 1

And then, of course, you had Edwin Herman. Yeah, he played that well, he played that really well. Good movie. I mean, if you haven't seen Lost Boys, there's something wrong with you guys.

Speaker 3

And then Diana Wiest is in it. She drives me nuts.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I know she's always like. She's like wow, whining all the time.

Speaker 3

Yeah, whining, puckered up as well, puckered up, yeah, her and Mr Face should get together.

Speaker 1

Yeah, puckered sour lemon girls.

Speaker 3

Yep, good stuff here, all right, so the soundtrack. So you had. Good Times was a song that was done with Jimmy Barnes and NXS. That was a fun song. You had Lou Graham Lost in the Shadows. Lou Graham, don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me. Roger Daltrey did a Elton John cover. You had Laying Down the Law, jimmy Barnes, again with In Excess. You had People Are Strange, echoing the Bunnyman version of the Doors. Doors, yeah, you had Power Play, eddie and the Tide and a couple of other ones that I really don't know, but the two songs that we always gravitate to and of course, the scene with the sexy sax guy On the beach oh, tim Capello. And he's all oiled up, lubed up, ready to go.

Speaker 1

Spandex tight. He's ready to rock and roll. He's got his sax and his trombone. He's right, that's right, he's ready. He's ready. He's gonna slide that trombone you don't know where, but he's the sexy sax man, he can.

Speaker 3

The song is, I still believe, which was a cover of the song by the Call, but Tim Capel's is so much better, oh yeah, so much better.

Speaker 1

And it's amazing how that little scene that he's in yeah, right, because it's not a big scene.

Speaker 3

No, it's not a big scene.

Speaker 1

It's one of the most talked about scenes in the whole movie. Is the sexy sax guy.

Speaker 3

That's right, that's right, right or wrong, that's great, yeah, at least we talk about him, but we do. Maybe it's just us that we're talking about, I don't know. It just makes us laugh so much, this guy. Oh my god, I know, it's hilarious, it's hilarious and then I think one of the coolest. This is the theme of the lost boys cry little sister, by gerard mccann. Oh man, it's just got this eeriness to it.

Speaker 1

It's haunting, it's haunting in every sense. Love it. You got the, you got the kids choir singing in there. It's just, it's a great, great song let's do it.

Speaker 3

Here we go lost boys we've got. I still believe in cry, little sister, guitar solo. I've been in a cave for days, only a spark to light my way. I wanna give out, I wanna give in. This is our crime, this is our sin, but I still believe, still believe Through the pain, through the grief, through the lies, through the storms, through the cries, through the wars. Oh, I still believe, still believe.

Speaker 2

I don't mind the back Out at sea, hoping these waves Don't cover me, turned and tossed Upon the waves when the darkness comes. I feel the breeze, but I still believe, still believe Through the cold, through the heat, through the rain, through the tears, through the crowds, through the tears, I still believe. I still believe I'll march this road. I'll climb this hill Upon my knees. If I have to, I'll take my place Upon this stage. I'll wait Till the end of time For you. Like everybody else, I'm on my own, walking the streets. Look at the faces that I meet. I feel like I like I wanna go home. What do I feel? What do I know? But I still believe. Yes, I still believe Through the shame, through the grief, through the heartache, through the tears, through the weight, through the tears, through the weight through the years. So, people like us, in places like this, we need all the hope we can get. No, I still believe. I still believe, oh, I still believe.

Speaker 7

Yeah, I still believe. I'm still in pain. Thank you, the last fire will rise Behind those eyes. Black house will rock. Blind boys don't lie. Immortal fear, bad voice, so clear Through broken walls. That scream I hear. The curtain walls of that scream are here.

Speaker 2

Cry, little sister. Thou shalt not fall. Come, come to your brother. Thou shalt not fall, oh Chinese sister. Thou shalt not fall, oh Chinese sister. Love is with your brother.

Speaker 7

Blow my scurvy. Strangers look on. When will they learn? This loneliness Temptation Beats like a drum Deep in your veins. Our midnight lives Deep in your veins. I will not Love's little sister, I shall walk away.

Speaker 2

Come, come to your brother. I shall walk away.

Speaker 7

I'll change me sister.

Speaker 2

I shall walk away. Oh, change me, sister. Love is with your brother.

Speaker 7

Yeah, my Shangri-La. I can't forget why you were mine.

Speaker 2

I need you now. Cry Little sister, thou shalt not fall. Cry, cry little sister, love shall not fall. Cry, cry little sister, love shall not fall. Cry, cry little sister, love shall not fall. Love is with your brother. Hey, yeah, cry little sister, come come to your brother. Hey, yeah, oh, try me sister, love shall fall. Love is with your brother.

Speaker 4

Love shall fall, cry, cry. Love shall fall sister. Love shall fall Sister. That shadow, that shadow, that shadow, that shadow. Alright, brother Cry little sister.

Speaker 2

I'm down now for life.

Speaker 4

Come to your brother, okay, sorry.

Speaker 3

Oh, love that song. Yes, great song Brother. It's time for some Jersey Tales.

Speaker 2

You woke up this morning, got yourself drunk. Your mama always said you could get a little more to your eyes. You woke up this morning, got yourself a gun. You got yourself a gun you got yourself a gun.

Speaker 1

Oh, yes, brother. So we're going to the jersey shore where everything happened. All the stories, everything I mean you talk about the shore, that's where it was all about. Summer hit and everyone was down there. You planned your weekends, your weeks, whatever. So the one year, um, I got a bunch of my buddies. They rent a house down in seaside and now this is a different group of guys. These were my muscle steroid guys, friends. So one of them owned a gym in Clifton. I would go and work out there with them whenever, once in a while. But these guys were like I'll pump you up, they were huge, right? So I go down there and I go down for the weekend with them and I'm staying with them. And, uh, my buddy jimmy, uh, he's the one that owned the gym and he's just this huge big dude, jimmy owns the gym.

Speaker 1

Yeah, jimmy's gym, it's jimmy's gym you got gene and a few other guys and mark and a bunch of these guys, anyway, they're all.

Speaker 1

So I'm hanging out there and they got this house and there's like a porch on the house and we're all sitting outside and we're bullshit and talking and laughing and this, this group of girls, comes by and, um, I forgot, I forgot if it was a mustang or camaro is, I think I think it was a camaro.

Speaker 1

And um, jimmy, he was younger, he had gotten, he got jumped and he got cut with a glass or a knife on his on his face and he had a scar and so, but, guy's huge, I mean, this guy can probably bench press, like the house, you know, and he. So he goes down to the girls and then and he goes hey, girls, nice car, how's it going? He's talking to him and the one girl looks at him and just goes oh, nice scar. And so you don't say that to a guy who's juicing on roid rage. So he goes into the house, he pulls out the microwave oven and throws it through their windshield and says nice windshield, oh, we just sat there and went, oh god, and the girls just like took off and drove away with the microwave in the windshield of the car right.

Speaker 1

So the same day, it's a nice feature for a car to have.

Speaker 1

It is, I mean, you can sit there and put a you know a hot pocket in there while you're driving, whatever. So I'm, I'm, I'm in shock. I'm like, oh my god, I can't believe I'm staying with these guys. I gotta, I gotta leave. This is gonna be a problem. So about a half an hour later, our buddy, gene, is in the room with this girl, you know whatever doing her thing right, and it's jimmy's room. Oh. So jimmy goes and knocks on the door and goes, gene open the door and he's like nah, bro, I'm busy, come on, come back later. And he goes open the damn door and he's like and he wouldn't open the door.

Speaker 4

Jimmy backs up, runs and puts his head into the wall so I'm on the floor dying.

Speaker 1

I thought it was the funniest thing in the world, and he's. He put his head literally into the wall and his head was on the other side of the room saying open the door. So you got this guy.

Speaker 4

You got Jayden, this girl like looking up and all of a sudden you see Jimmy's head in the wall. Like holy crap, you know.

Speaker 3

I thought it was going to take off the door, but that's even funnier, oh yeah.

Speaker 1

See, I was expecting him to run through the door and just knock the door in.

Speaker 4

Yeah, no, he went through the wall.

Speaker 1

He literally went through the wall and his head's going through the wall and all of a sudden I hear Gene cracking up laughing because he sees Jimmy's head in the wall. He's just laughing and the girl's screaming no-transcript, someone's gonna die um. Was this place a summer rental?

Speaker 3

it was a rental.

Speaker 1

Oh the damage oh my god, yeah, a hole in the wall and no microwave. That's so good. And you know what the funny thing is? Nothing ever happened about that car. Like the cops never came. Nothing. Oh my God, it's the weirdest thing in the world. Like I asked him, like they were to stop by the police or something 100%.

Speaker 1

I asked him like two weeks later, I go, jimmy, whatever happened to you with that microwave, he goes. I don I asked. I asked him like two weeks later, I go, jim, whatever happened to you with that microwave, he goes. I don't know. They never came and got me. And this is the same guy that he got into a fight with someone outside of a diner and he, instead of opening the door and pulling him out, he went through the t-top of the car, broke the t-top and pulled the guy out oh god so for him it's not.

Speaker 3

It's not always the past the path of least resistance.

Speaker 1

He just he likes to make it challenging he likes he likes he likes it to be a challenge and be some creativity when killing someone yes oh yeah this is. This is my, my crazy, crazy friends. Oh my god, that's fantastic. I was not involved in any way, so I was good this time. Yes, there's no fighting, that's right.

Speaker 3

Because usually I'm involved somehow.

Speaker 1

You get to be a spectator. Well, with those guys you didn't have to throw a punch. They were all juicing up like going crazy ready to fight. Break T-tops and windows and doors and walls.

Speaker 6

So, that's this week's jersey story, bro you're listening to the back in time brothers on url radio I think that's one of my favorite stories you've told.

Speaker 3

I love that.

Speaker 1

You know I was saving it, because it is one of my favorites as well. Just the fact when he he throws the microwave and he goes nice window and then just walks away and goes and sits back down on the porch Like just so nonchalant.

Speaker 3

Here's a question. Yeah, what was the microwave? Just one of the ones that's just sat on the counter, or was in the in the wall? Did he get out of the wall?

Speaker 1

No, it was. It was one that's on the counter.

Speaker 3

I remember that.

Speaker 1

Yeah it yeah it would have been even better if he pulled it out of the wall. That would have been great. And you know what I think he would have if it was? I don't think it would have even been a question. And it's funny because I'm still friends with him to this day. And not too long ago, well about a year ago, I was talking to him on Facebook and I messaged him and I go hey, it's been a while, jimmy, since I seen you question for you, have you thrown any microwaves through windows? And he just put a bunch of laughing emojis. He was dying, he goes. Oh my God, how young and dumb were we.

Speaker 1

And. I go. No, how young and dumb were you. I said not me, but yeah. So it's good to kind of reconnect and think about those stories we did when we were like in our teens and twenties.

Speaker 3

Yeah, so good, All right. So next up we've got 1982, one of the just funniest great coming-of-age stories.

Speaker 1

We're talking Fast Times at Ridgemont High, oh bro, you know one of my favorite movies, sean Penn is so good. In this Amazing he plays the role. I mean he really got into that role. You know Absolutely, and you know it's that movie a lot of. It's really kind of, it's kind of underrated by a lot of people like when you talk about these movies, yeah, a lot of people like well, I've never saw that, you know.

Speaker 1

like oh my god, it's so good you know, one of my favorite lines that he says is like all I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz and I'm fine or aloha, mr hand.

Speaker 4

You know aloha, mr hand, you dick, you know when he goes well it's.

Speaker 1

Where's the pizza? And he goes. Well, you are eating pizza on my time. Well, mr hand, if I'm here and you're here, isn't it our time? You know it's, it's, and it's such a great movie and it is a coming of age movie, isn't it? It's? No, this one really is yeah, it's california.

Speaker 3

High school life, you had all the different cliques which was great.

Speaker 1

Yeah, because you got the girl. I forgot her name, jennifer Jason Lee, thank you. She's so concerned about having sex and into this thing. And then you got Phoebe Cates, who's doing nothing but having sex, or she?

Speaker 3

shows that she is. You don't even write, or is she?

Speaker 1

really the prude, yes, and she just axed it. You know that's. And then you got uh, what's his name? Her brother, jason jennifer. Jason lee's brother, who has his girlfriend, and all of a sudden, yeah, judge, reinhold, and, and then you got, you know, then you got the geek, you got rat. Rats are over there, and you know, and it's just, it's just, it's great. And you got spicoli, who's just like this big goofball, you know. And these oscar.

Speaker 3

These oscar type act actors are in this because jennifer jason lee, I think, was either nominated, sean penn, of course, and forrest whitaker is in this forrest whitaker, he plays, yeah, he plays the football guy like yeah he's like well, he mess up his brother's car and he goes.

Speaker 1

Man, what are we gonna do? Well, my brother's gonna see, my brother's gonna shit, my brother's gonna kill us. Well, what's he gonna do? Is he gonna?

Speaker 4

shit or kill us first. He's gonna shit, then he's gonna kill us, you know, and he's just you know, it's just hilarious stuff like really just does not care and it's, you know.

Speaker 1

And this reminds me, like you know, 82 is a little bit, a little bit younger. You know, I was too young I wasn't't in high school, but high school reminds me of that. It was that crazy, so it was different clicks and that fun and the music that comes along with Fast Times at Ridgemont High is great. The music in that is just phenomenal and you can relate to almost everything that's going on there.

Speaker 3

Yeah, and unfortunately there was so much music that some of it didn't make the soundtrack, but it was a double LP soundtrack. It had that many songs on there. Yeah, it had 19 songs on two records back in the day, jeez, and this movie is actually based on a true story. This is Cameron Crowe.

Speaker 1

Oh, okay.

Speaker 3

Yeah, and this was his kind of California high school life and so, yeah, just crazy stuff, really great stuff. So the soundtrack so you've got Ongo Boingo Goodbye, goodbye. You had Stevie Nicks, a song called Sleeping Angel, donna Summer doing a song called Highway Runner. You had Poco. You had Graham Nash, jimmy Buffett, sammy Hager did the song Fast Times at Ridgemont High, billy Squire Fast Times, the Best Years of Our Lives. Don Felder, you had all these. The Eagles are all on here, because one of the producers was actually the manager of the Eagles and so they wanted all their songs on there. Oh, wow, you had Quarter Flash, the Go-Go's, a band called the Ravens, timothy B Schmidt, don Henley, joe Walsh All the Eagles had their own singles on there. That's crazy. And so the two songs. I'm not going to play any Eagles stuff because they'll sue us if we put it on our podcast. So I can't use those because they sue all the time.

Speaker 1

But we're going to go ahead and uh play. We don't want to get sued by the eagles.

Speaker 3

That's right at all. No definitely not very litigious and I want to do that. Um, so we're gonna do speeding by the gogos, which is a song I had forgotten about yeah, I honestly I've never heard it, at least I don't remember it.

Speaker 1

And then when, when I heard it you know earlier, when we played it and we're talking about it I was like, oh, I mean, it sounds like a typical go-go song, but I, just I, I don't remember it at all yep, yep.

Speaker 3

And then I think a classic song is somebody's baby jackson brown, because it's about jennifer jason lee especially. You know she's going through this whole thing, yeah it's uh.

Speaker 1

You know, mark the damone did some bad things. You know, yeah, I before you play songs, bro. This is one. One more quote I remember so much I want to say remember when he's doing the interview with stew nahan, right, right, okay, I love this, I love this. He goes.

Speaker 4

I'll tell you, stew, I did battle some humongous waves, but you know, just like I told the guy on abc danger, is my business only spicoli.

Speaker 3

Anything spicoli says is just classic.

Speaker 1

Oh god, so good yeah, he's so good, but uh, yeah, let's play some. Let's play some movie, uh, some music from the movie bro bro, all right, here we go.

Speaker 3

Somebody's Baby and Speeding, speeding.

Speaker 2

Well, just look at that girl with the lights coming up in her eyes. She's got to be somebody's baby. She must be somebody's baby. All the guys on the corner stand back and let her walk on by eyes on the corner. Stand back and let her walk on by. She's got to be somebody's baby. She must be somebody's baby. She's got to be somebody's baby. She's so fine. She's probably somebody's only light Gonna shine tonight. Yeah, she's probably somebody's baby. Alright, I heard her talking with her friend when she thought nobody else was around. She said she's got to be somebody's babe. She must be somebody's babe, cause when the cars and the signs and the street lights light up the town, she's got to be somebody's baby. She must be somebody's baby. She's got to be somebody's baby, she's so. She's gonna be somebody's. Only light Gonna shine tonight. Yeah, she's gonna be somebody's baby tonight. I try to shut my eyes, but I can't get her out of my sight. I know I'm gonna know it, but I gotta get over my pride. Well, I'm just gonna walk up to it. I'm gonna talk to it tonight. Yeah, yeah, she's gonna be somebody's. Only light Gonna shine tonight. Yeah, she's gonna be somebody's baby tonight. She's gonna be somebody's only light. Gonna shine tonight. Yeah, she's gonna be somebody's baby tonight. Gonna shine tonight. Make her mine tonight. Gonna shine tonight. Make her mine tonight. Gonna shine tonight. Make her mine tonight. Ah, ah, gonna shine tonight. Make her mine tonight.

Speaker 2

I can't explain the way I feel Each time I get behind the wheel. The rush of blood comes as the power surges and my right foot urges the car to push On through the night, jumping faster, jumping faster. Scenery, a real TV, feel the speed. I can't breathe. Jumping faster Other times, as we are driving Slides and other times. One thing I'm certain that I know All I want to do is go, go, go. Everything is rushing by. My heart is pounding deep inside. The garden lights, the engine stays. We're an imaginary race. Yeah, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a.

Speaker 1

I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm Fun stuff, brother.

Speaker 3

Yeah, all, right Now Good stuff. This soundtrack, another fantastic soundtrack. The movie's fun, and a sequel is playing on Netflix right now Beverly Hills Cop XLF. But this, of course, is the original from 1984, beverly Hills Cop. And you know I still have not seen beverly hills cop the new one I started watching it and I stopped it because I didn't have enough time to watch it when I started watching it. So I'm tired, but it wasn't bad. Everything I was watching up to that point was pretty good okay, we'll see.

Speaker 1

I'll still have to check it out. Yes, so beverly hills cop soundtrack.

Speaker 3

Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack is just crazy. How much is on there? First of all, Eddie Murphy, of course. Great fun movie, Judge Reinhold, which is funny because we did Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He's in that Lisa Eilbacher and she was popular during that period and it's cool. It's because you've got this street smart cop from Detroit that's showing up in the by-the-books kind of Beverly Hills to solve this murder of his childhood friend. What'd you like about the movie? Everything.

Speaker 1

It's because I loved Eddie Murphy played that role phenomenal. It's comedic, but then he still has his seriousness when he's playing a real cop and the relationship that he has With Judge Reinhold and them. That's great stuff. But it was Almost like a funny action movie and it was really good. Eddie Murphy was in his prime and you know he was. He was killing it back then.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I agree, um, and I think it had one of the great instrumentals. The axle f theme is just so such an iconic oh yeah, absolutely. Um, all right, so we're gonna play. Well, first of all, let me talk about the soundtrack. So listen to this sucker head. I mean just so good you had. Don't Get Stopped in Beverly Hills, shalimar, oh you love me a little, shalimar, shalimar.

Speaker 4

Second time around, all right.

Speaker 3

You had the Heat Is On. Of course, classic Len Fry Can't play that. We'll get sued, that's right, Danny Elfman Gratitude. You had Patti LaBelle doing a song called Stir it Up. You had the System playing Rock and Roll Me Again. Wow, the System.

Speaker 1

The System? Yes, didn't they do Disturb this Groove, or something like that? I think so, yeah. Disturb this Groove yeah.

Speaker 3

And then the two songs that we're going to play off of this New Attitude Head of the Bell, good song, jam and song yeah, and then one that wasn't released, and it's a great one in the movie Neutron Dance.

Speaker 1

Pointer Sisters. Anytime, throw some Pointer Sisters in, I'm in.

Speaker 3

Yeah, yeah. So I think this is fun, this, this really captures a really cool period of music for me. I just, you know, very synth pop.

Speaker 1

You know, with these great r&b singers, that it was just really hot at the time well, and I think it was important to kind of bring that, that, that r&b, groove a little bit, you know what, especially with axl coming from detroit, yes you know, and that's that's where you know you got all that soul and that, that and that kind of thing. So, and like you said, the synth pop you know, all those artists were doing it, then that's right.

Speaker 1

So it was nice to get like a patty, labelle and the pointer sisters doing that kind of stuff.

Speaker 3

I mean, those are icons, you know like when you think, like the footloose soundtrack and let's hear it for the boy, you know stuff like that, so this stuff all kind of plays in the same lane. I know a little bit about that song, I'll tell you. Well, we'll talk about that next week because that'll be on part two. Okay, sounds good. All right, brother, so let's go ahead. And now let's do neutron dance. I'm sorry, new attitude and neutron dance, here we go. Let's do it Running high, running cold.

Speaker 2

I was running into overload. It was extreme. I took it so high, so low. I was extreme. I took it so high, so low, so low. There was nowhere to go. Like a bad dream. Somehow the wires uncrossed, the tables were turned. Never knew I had such a lesson to learn. I'm feeling good from my head to my shoes, know where I'm going and I know what to do. I've tied it up from my point of view. I've got a new attitude. I'm in control. My worries are few Cause I've got no other news.

Speaker 2

I've got a new attitude. I'm wearing a new dress, new hat, brand new ideas. As a matter of fact of choice For good Must have been the cool night. New mood might change, or that the danger of a laughing In my shoe Gets.

Speaker 2

Somehow the wires uncrossed, the tables were turned. Never knew I had such a lesson to learn.

Speaker 2

I'm feeling good from my head to my shoes, know where I'm going and I know what to do. I've tidied up my point of view. I've got a new attitude. I'm in control. My worries are few, cause I've got love like I've never knew. I've got a new attitude. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Somehow the wires uncrawled, the tables were turned. Never knew I had such a lesson to learn. I'm feeling good from my head to my shoes, know where I'm going and I know what to do. I tidied up my point of view. I've got a new attitude. I'm in control. My worries are few. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Worries are few. Oh, I'm in control. I'm in control. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

Speaker 2

I've got a two out of two. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. From my head to my shoes, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. I've got a two out of two. I've got a two. I'm into my shoes. I'm into my shoes. I've got a few New ones too, and it's in the back of my hand. Baby, I'm into my shoes. I don't wanna take it anymore. I'll just stay locked behind the door. Just no time to stop and get away, cause I work so hard to make it every day.

Speaker 2

Ooh, ooh Ha ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ha. I'm looking for Victor.

Speaker 8

Maitland.

Speaker 2

Stole my brand new Chevrolet and the rent is due. I've got no place to stay. How you doing? Can you come in for a second, please, woo? And it's hard to say Just how something's never changed and it's hard to find Any strength to draw the line. I'm just burnin' doin' the neutron dance. I'm just burnin' doin' the neutron dance.

Speaker 2

In this day, don't pay a price. That's bad. All the common people breathing filthy air. Lord, have mercy Roof caving on all the simple dreams. Can't you get ahead? Your heart's not pumping schemes.

Speaker 2

And it's hard to say Just how some things never change and it's hard to find Any strength to draw the line. I'm just burning Doing the neutron dance. I'm just burning Doing the neutron dance. I'm on fire, yeah, I'm on fire, yeah. And it's hard to say Just how something never changed and it's hard to find Any strength to draw the line. Oh, I'm just burning doing the neutron dance. I'm just burning doing the neutron dance. I know there's a part of me. All I've got to do is just believe. I'm so happy Doing the neutron dance and I'm just burning Doing the neutron dance. I'm so happy Doing the neutron dance. I'm just burning Doing the neutron dance. Well, well, well, well, ooh, ooh, oh. I'm so happy Doing the neutron dance. Well, well, well, ooh, ooh, ooh. All of the beat In my head. I'm so happy Doing the new time game. All of the beat. I'm so happy Doing the new time game. Yeah, ooh, ooh, ooh.

Speaker 3

Ooh, ooh, ooh. I'm so happy In my head. I'm just burning In my feet. I'm so happy, all of the beat, I'm just burning. I can't help myself. I'm so happy. All right, brother.

Speaker 5

Guess it's time for. Cool Cocaine is a hell of a drug no all right, I got some bad date tweets oh, oh, I like the tweets.

Speaker 1

All right, what do they call tweets now that it's X?

Speaker 3

I think they still call them tweets. They kill the X's, x's, x's have you been X'd, x's, x's. Oh hey, all right, here we go. He said from your photo I thought you were too good for me. I'm glad to see that you've got flaws. Then he listed them. Oh wow, that's hardcore Surprise. Yes, my date was complaining about me on Facebook while at the table. I found out because she accidentally tagged me in the post. Oh wow, that's terrible. That is bad. Oh my God, how awkward that would be.

Speaker 1

You're just looking across the table like you, yeah and then you're like, you get like a notification on your phone, like oh, have you been tagged in something whoa wait a minute I'm on this date right now. What's going on?

Speaker 3

that's a play by play. What that's when you drop a spook. All you All right Sitting on the floor kissing, talking about life and family. Turns out we're cousins, oh.

Speaker 4

Sweet home Alabama.

Speaker 3

Holy smokes. At the end of the night he leaned in for a kiss, whispering don't be scared if my tooth falls out. Oh man, don't be scared if my tooth falls out. Oh man, don't be scared, I'm going to be grossed out.

Speaker 1

Are you kidding? It would have been even worse. He leaned in for a kiss and he starts singing.

Speaker 4

I'll take you into the night and lift you up.

Speaker 3

He talked about himself all through dinner, then drove me around to show me where all of his ex girlfriends lived.

Speaker 1

Oh, god, who does that just? Show, you know, just showing off just showing where that one lives in that mansion up there.

Speaker 3

That's my ex yeah in the middle of the date she called her ex and decided to get back together with him.

Speaker 1

Oh, man I. How can you ever date again after that? Oh, that's tough right. You got to feel like the biggest loser ever, right, Jeez.

Speaker 3

Date asks. So are you one of those crazy girls who looks up the criminal record of your date? I said no. He said good oh. You want to check?

Speaker 4

that out. I take you into the night. Oh no.

Speaker 3

All right, Guy took me to Hooters to watch football with six men. Fast forward, I married one of them and the guy was our best man. That's kind of funny. That's funny Kissed me, said he was now sure he was gay. Wow, but could I stay and introduce myself as his girlfriend to his Catholic Polish mom? Oh man, I don't even have nothing to say Wow, he needs a sexy sax man that'll take care of him?

Speaker 1

Oh no, I think he doesn't. Where does that? You kiss a girl? I think I'm gay. What?

Speaker 3

Oh, wow, okay. Okay, listen to this. He showed up an hour late, drove through mcdonald's you want anything? Then parked at a zoo and said I've got a condom.

Speaker 1

Oh my god, that's a creeper dude holy well, you know, you know, you know what song's coming in there into the night into the night, baby into the night went to a fancy place.

Speaker 3

He ordered and ate the most expensive food on the menu. He went to wash his hands and never returned. Wow, that's a douchebag man that's the kind of guy that he needs to get like curb stomped oh, man, he needs to meet you, he needs to meet jimmy, he needs, like, an american history x like on the curb stomp.

Speaker 1

Yeah, oh man, ouch. Yeah, I know that's painful, it is.

Speaker 3

Met a girl online and had her over for dinner. Heard ripping sounds behind me while cooking. She was opening my mail. What that's a psycho.

Speaker 1

That's a federal offense, oh. What's going on. How dare she?

Speaker 3

do that. He took me I'm female to a gay club. Got drunk, came out of the closet, met a guy and gave me 40 to catch a taxi home wow what is going.

Speaker 1

Maybe he should go meet up with that guy at uh, yes, now oh my gosh, that's crazy.

Speaker 3

He just went like did he want to just have someone? I don't like. What was that? I mean?

Speaker 1

I you know, I don't know. I mean, is that for courage? You know that you're. I mean, do you have an idea? You're gay, I don't know. So you know what I mean. Like, did he want to bring a girl with him, just to like, just in case, I don't know?

Speaker 3

yeah, it's weird, I don't get it within 30 minutes, he revealed he had four kids with three women and announced I impregnated an 18 year old with twins when I was 14.

Speaker 4

Wow, no, that 18 year old took him into the night because he was 14 wow, that's crazy yeah, did he think that was gonna like turn around or something or what?

Speaker 3

I'm a virile man, yes, oh my god, I said 14.

Speaker 1

I was molested by an 18 year old and gave her twins.

Speaker 3

Oh my god, my sperm is very powerful.

Speaker 1

Every time it puts it in someone, it is pregnant. What a jerk off. Oh my God.

Speaker 3

We were walking outside and it got chilly. He said I guess I should offer you my jacket. Then added but then I'd be cold Douchebag Big time. What a doucher.

Speaker 1

Oh, my God.

Speaker 3

And the last one as I was leaving, I went in for a hug, goodbye, tripped on the doormat and tackled her to the door. Oh, that's great. That's an epic fail. Those are bad date tweets. Yeah boy, oh boy, Bangers, Tweet tweet. You're listening to the Back in Time. Brothers on URL. Radio Brother last soundtrack of the day, last soundtrack. Okay, it's one of your favorite movies of all time.

Speaker 1

Well, it's got to be Halloween. I already know it's got to be one of my favorite, if not top three, movies of all time the Breakfast Club.

Speaker 3

It's got to be.

Speaker 1

Breakfast Club, absolutely Breakfast Club. Love it Coming of Breakfast Club. It's got to be Breakfast Club, Absolutely Breakfast.

Speaker 3

Club Love it Coming of age story. It's the coming of age.

Speaker 1

It's the story of five kids coming to age in a detention room on a Saturday. That's right, oh man, some of the best lines in that movie. And you know what's funny, judd Nelson was not the original person to be Bender. Okay, they were going to have Emilio Estevez, but he played the jock so much better. And then Nicolas Cage.

Speaker 4

That would work too Totally would it be like man, I'm going to kick your ass.

Speaker 1

You know who I am, you know know he would have been. I think he did that role great yeah you know, but I mean I you can't see anyone else but judd nelson, that role you know it just.

Speaker 3

You know, ali sheedy, that that cast is just a great cast yeah, you know, you've got the brain, the athlete, the basket case, the princess, the criminal.

Speaker 1

I mean, it's like these great characters, perfect criminals none of them really hang out together except maybe the jock and the princess, right, they, they're in the same circles. Yep, you got the loner who, ali sheedy, who's just kind of wherever the geek is doing his own thing. And then you got judge reinhold and his and his creepy friends, and he even says that he goes.

Speaker 1

You know, my friends wouldn't like your friends, you know it's just like he says the role and and and it's you know in the beginning, it's you know, it's kind of getting to know them right. When they get together and they, after they smoke weed and they're sitting up there together, their stories come out and you kind of learn like these, these kids are going through some shit, their parents are messed up. That's right, you know. And uh, it's, it is and like it is, a great coming to age story, isn't it?

Speaker 3

and, of course, another great john hughes film and legend yeah, 100 great stuff. And this is the song I mean for this soundtrack. The song simple minds don't you About Me tells it. It is such an iconic song.

Speaker 1

Okay. So, with that being said, it was not originally in the movie. The movie was done without the Simple Minds song. It was added later and Simple Minds didn't want to do it. They didn't want their song in there. They thought it was going to hurt them Crazy. Now look at it right. Unbelievable. That made them. I mean and Simple Minds is a great group, they have some great music out but yeah, that's crazy stuff and now you can't think of. You can't. Every time you hear that song all you can think about is you know?

Speaker 3

Judd Nelson putting that fist up in the air at the end.

Speaker 1

That's what you think of, yes.

Speaker 3

Yes, and so there was only two singles that were released off of the soundtrack. So maybe on its own it's not a great soundtrack, but it's such a great movie and that has such a great song. So we're going to play the two singles that were off of that, because the rest of the stuff was really just some people that do soundtrack stuff Right, and there's some decent songs, but nothing really worth noting. But we're going to play of course Don't you Forget About Me Simple Minds, and then we're going to play, I think, another great song, Wang Chung's Fire in the Twilight. Oh, good song. Yeah, just great stuff. So great movie. Love Breakfast Club and I love the era. I love those 80 movies mean so much to us.

Speaker 1

Oh, without a doubt, and, and they all you know, and they all take place in, you know, shirmer, illinois, of course. Yeah, shirmer, high school, um, all john he's movies were all kind of based there. Um, a lot of it has to do with him, as you know, as him being a kid in school and, um, you know, and and and, uh, john he's actually has a cameo in the movie where he is, uh, he picks up Anthony Michael Hall at the end of the school. He's the father who's in the car and picks him up. Yeah, so yeah.
