***BLAST FROM THE PAST EPISODE***
Hope you enjoy this blast from the past!
Cravings and memories collide as we crack open the ultimate breakfast debate: what makes a cereal worth buying forever? We kick off with a quick update on our plan to drop timely favorites from the archive, then pour a full bowl of criteria—taste, crunch survival in milk, dry snacking potential, and that all-important feel factor—to separate legends from lightweight flakes.
From water-cooler arguments to late-night pantry raids, cereal loyalties run deep. We walk through a national top ten that puts classics like Rice Krispies, Frosted Flakes, Raisin Bran, and Lucky Charms alongside modern sugar-powerhouses like Reese’s Puffs. Honey Nut Cheerios shows up near the top for good reason, but one box keeps stealing the crown: Cinnamon Toast Crunch. We unpack why it wins across categories, how it transforms milk without gimmicks, and why it’s so hard to stop once you start.
Along the way, we confront the tension between nostalgia and nutrition, guilty pleasures and weekday practicality. Do you need marshmallows to feel joy? How long should crunch last before sog sets in? Can one honest bowl satisfy, or does your favorite demand endless refills? We share our personal tests, admit our surprises, and make a clear case for a single champion—even from a host who mostly shops the bran-and-nuts aisle now.
Bring your list to the table. Tell us your number one forever cereal and your full top ten, with reasons that hold up under milk and scrutiny. If our pick riles you up, perfect—jump into the comments and make your case. Subscribe for more sharp, short hits from the archive, share this with a cereal die-hard, and leave a quick review so we can keep the debate crunchy.

SPEAKER_00Hey friends and families, it's Mr. You. Now, our team wanted to try something fresh and something different, especially during our slower months of the season. So, starting this season, we're gonna release random but timely episodes from our first few seasons, which I gotta tell you are the most popular seasons of our entire podcast brand history. I think when you hear them, you'll know why they're so popular. It's gonna be great for new listeners and great also for long time listeners who've been following us for a while. So stay tuned. I thank you for watching us and for listening. Hope you enjoy this new experience. We're going into the archives. Here's a blast from the past right now. I think you'll enjoy. Have fun. Hey fam, it's Mr. You. Please enjoy this short perspective specifically for your ears. It won't take long, but it'll certainly hit strong. Keeping it all the way short. The breakfast debates. Well, well, well. Never thought I'd say it, but as many debates as you can find on social media at the water cooler, people talking about politics, fashion, favorite Marvel character, best superhero. A little bit of everything you can discuss and have a debate about it. Who's the greatest all-time NBA player? The list goes on and on and on. But some friends of mine have been engaged in a debate off and on over the past several months about the best breakfast cereal. Well, I thought our podcast shows would be a great place to hash that out and still keep it all the way short. There are a lot of things we can talk about, as you well know. But today we're talking about breakfast cereal. Yes, the breakfast cereal debates. I love it. Now, first off, what makes one cereal better than the other? Is the primary factor the taste of the cereal? Is taste what matters to you most? Is that what you make a huge part of your ranking system? How it tastes? Is it cool stuff on the cereal? Such as candy, marshmallows, raisins, nuts, etc. Do you have to have some kind of topping on the cereal to make it better for you? How do you enjoy your cereal? Do you have to have it wet or can it be eaten dry? Or is it important that you can do both? Is the most important factor for you how long the cereal holds up in milk? That's kind of important to me. If it's soggy, it's not enjoyable, right? I've heard some folks that enjoy it when it's soggy and it all falls apart in the milk. I think they're weird, but whatever. No judgment. Now, is this bowl of cereal gonna be your biggest meal of the day? Because if it is, obviously it has to be very satisfying, right? So to me, if I'm going into a debate about cereal, several of those factors really matter to me. How it holds up in milk. Will it be satisfying? Can I enjoy it dry or wet? And of course, it has to taste good. So I'd also include the feel factor, obviously. The feel factor is basically how I feel, how full I feel after a bowl of said cereal. If it takes me two to four bowls to be full, that's an ethical and financial problem for me. So the debate is what are the three best cereals in the world? Let's make it a little bit simpler than that. Simpler than the best three or the top ten. What is your all-time favorite cereal? That could be a little bit harder, especially if you're a big-time cereal lover. What's your all-time favorite cereal? That's the one that goes into the shopping cart every time you go to the market, no matter what. Now, how do you find the answer to this question? Do you have to go back to your childhood to find it? Or are you going back to King Vitamin? How far back are you going? Are you going back to Frankenberry? How far back are you going? Is your favorite the one that you and your kids today still enjoy every morning? Or is your favorite serial that guilty pleasure the one you're kinda ashamed to tell people about in public? For fear they may laugh at you. What's your favorite all-time cereal? It was a recent poll, I believe it was in 2020 or early 2021. And they had a top ten poll. They asked millions of folks around the country. This was the result of that poll. Number 10, Rice Krispies. Number nine, Captain Crunch. Number eight, Frosted Mini Weeds. Number seven, Lucky Charms. Really? Number six, Frosted Flakes. Number five, Fruit Loops. Number four, Raisin Brand. Number three, Reese's Pieces Puffs. I had a question about that, but then recently a friend of mine stopped to talk to me, and they opened up the windows in the back so I can talk to their kids. And all of their kids had little Ziploc bags with Reese's Pieces Puffs in them. I'm like, wow. People must be like this stuff, huh? Because all the kids were happy. So maybe some uh validity to them being on the top three in this poll. But number two, honey nut cheerios. And the number one all-time cereal. Cinnamon toast crutch. Wow. I viewed some other polls just for context, just to kind of see what America was thinking about. And one of the number one cereals in the poll was honey nut Cheerios. Makes sense. Fruit Loops is also another number one that I saw on the list. But several had Cinnamon Toast Crunch at the top of their all-time favorite cereal list. Now I love number two and number four, number nine on those lists. I grew up on them. They taste great to me. Do they meet all my criteria? Maybe not. But I'm going with Cinnamon Toast Crunch as my number one all-time favorite cereal. That's gonna blow the mind of everybody that knows me because I don't really eat cereal anymore. It's been many years since I've gone that route. And when I have done it, it's some kind of brand cereal, some kind of brand flake type deal with raisins and nuts. I guess the healthiest cereal I can find. So when I am doing it, I'm usually going that route. But all-time favorite cereal, I'm going with cinnamon toast crunch. It holds up well in milk, it's awesome, dry, has an incredible flavor. As a matter of fact, it's hard to stop eating. There's something addictive about it. I don't know if it's the sugar or the cinnamon or both. It's really, really addictive. It doesn't need marshmallows or candies or little pieces of fruit. It's got everything you need and it tastes incredible. You can eat it wet and you can enjoy it dry. So is there a cereal that you absolutely love that you haven't heard yet? What's your top 10 favorite cereals? I'd love to hear your list if you can if you can construct one. A top 10 favorite cereals list. I'd love to see it on our social media platforms. Hit us up on our Facebook podcast page or DM me on Instagram at theycallmeistery. Love to hear your top 10 favorite cereals list. But what's your all-time number one favorite? That's the one, the one that goes in that shopping cart every time you hit the supermarket. What's that number one favorite cereal? You gotta have it. Share your thoughts with us on Instagram at The Call Me Mr.You or on our podcast page. Or you can reach us at PodFan or Pod.fan at theycallmeistery. I can't wait to hear your list and keep the debate going. Make your reasons good, bring compelling arguments, or my listeners are gonna roast you. That's just how they do. But keep listening to our show. If you like podcast pages, we have three of them. Our Facebook podcast page at They Call Me Mr. You or Budsprout.com forward slash 1222796. Or you can find us at pod dot fan forward slash they call me mister You. We're keeping it all the way short. Breakfast cereal, baby. Coach out.
