Let me tell you something Everybody struggles . The difference is some people choose to go through it and some choose to grow through it . The choice is completely yours . Which one you choose will have a very profound effect on the way you live your life . If you find strength in the struggle , then this podcast is for you . Do you have a relationship that is comfortable with uncomfortable conversations ? Uncomfortable conversations challenge you , humble you and they build you . When you sprinkle a little time and distance on it , it all makes sense . Most disagreements , they stem from our own insecurities . You are right where you need to be the whole day gone .

Speaker 2

Walking behind . I'm asking my way too fast .

Speaker 1

Ooh , ooh , ooh , ooh , what it do , what it do , hot diggity damn . Am I so excited to be back with you . Oh , it's true , it's damn true . How do ?

Speaker 2

you do oh me .

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah , you , I'm good , that's good , you better be good .

Speaker 3

Sorry y'all , You're stuck with me again .

Speaker 1

Welcome back . We took away the boob mic you were using last time .

Speaker 3

You did how come .

Speaker 1

I'm not going to put the blame solely on you . Last week we were super tired and we were holding microphones as we recorded . This week we planned it a little better , so I hope we fix the audio quality minus the dogs .

Speaker 3

Let me get a little closer and Huck Two right on it .

Speaker 1

Oh , huck , two-y , spend all that thang .

Speaker 3

Yeah , miss Let me get a little closer .

Speaker 1

That has taken over the internet . Oh my God .

Speaker 3

It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen in my life . Huck Two . I feel bad for that girl . I really do oh thing I've ever seen in my life .

Speaker 1

I feel bad for that girl . I really do . Oh my God , like she's at a concert or something , just getting after it saying what she feels like . That girl was wasted , white girl wasted . You can't hold that against her man Spit on that thang .

Speaker 3

I don't know if she was white girl wasted , that girl was like long gone .

Speaker 1

Well , I don't know if this is true , but I haven't looked into this whatsoever . This could be completely not true . I think I heard on a radio station or something say that she's a school teacher somewhere . Oh shit , they made her resign .

Speaker 3

No .

Speaker 1

That she lost her job over it .

Speaker 3

That's ridiculous .

Speaker 1

That might not be true at all . That's how news works these days . Things just aren't true and they get said and they get put out there and people hear them and they say , oh yeah , that must be true .

Speaker 3

Isn't that like CNN ? Yeah ?

Speaker 1

yeah , it is which it might happen . Fake news Might have to dabble in that a little bit . It almost sounded like I said send nudes . Well , that's basically what that girl's hoping spent on that thing , I was gonna make a hook to a t-shirt , but I think there's probably so many of them on the marketplace already 603 has one yeah , that looks pretty cool actually but , everybody did uh like hawk to e24 , like doing like a political spin on it .

Speaker 3

You know what I mean well , I will say this whether that girl lost her school job uh , teaching job or not , she's probably pretty famous right now on tiktok imagine losing probably paying her more to do that you imagine losing your school job over a blow job joke ?

Speaker 1

yeah double job . That was I mean . I just had to you know what I mean .

Speaker 3

I'll tell you right now if I was a parent at that school . I'm just gonna tell you I'm signing a petition to bring her back yeah , amen , amen hallelujah , hallelujah , speaking of that .

Speaker 1

While we're on this topic , I actually , oh my god , hang on , hang on what I was going to church and and and singing hallelujah , bringing her back because I wanted to make sure we were on the same mind length for parenting , because I would have definitely been on that petition . But I actually saw a video today when I was pooping , which is when I would surf das internet , right ?

Speaker 1

I didn't even facetime you this time usually when I'm taking a hot squash , is when you try to facetime me , which you know better at this point to not have a bunch of people around , because I'll answer that , motherfucker , I think it's hilarious because I always have like I don't know if it's like twin telepathy or something , because I always know , like when you're pooping . And I'm like , yeah , you're like I'm hungry , let's go on lunch . My husband's probably taking a poop .

Speaker 1

Yeah , because I want to watch you poop and eat my lunch yeah , that happens , but anyway , oh , I was pooping right and uh , I was scrolling this internet and there's a dude that made a remix of the huck tooey thing oh god , but to the song hallelujah . It's so good I don't know if I could play it on here , if I'd get in trouble or not probably , maybe I could give the dude some credit . You were gonna say something . I'll try to find this guy's song yes , I was gonna talk about uh .

Speaker 3

We were on the uh path of of parenting so I was on my lunch break today and I was at a pooping restaurant getting restaurant getting lunch Okay . And you know what restaurant I was at that ?

Speaker 2

I shouldn't have been at . I won't say it , but I do know .

Speaker 3

But it is what it is . The baby wanted , what the baby wanted , anyway , you know what's in front of the said establishment ?

Speaker 1

Depends on the angle . There's a place that does oil changes and then there's like a dispensary .

Speaker 3

Correct Dispensary , you got it . So I'm getting ready to leave said establishment and as I pull out of the drive-thru , okay , the freaking ice cream truck is pulling in .

Speaker 1

Going to the dispensary .

Speaker 3

Going to the gosh darn dispensary and I was like this right here is so many red flags for me , so many red flags . Okay , number one if you're going to smoke your weed , do your weed , whatever , I don't really care . Do not I repeat , do not pick it up in your company vehicle that you sell ice cream to children wait a minute , so they weren't there for like an open house selling ice cream . The people that were she went in to get her supplies yeah , I'm not cool with that , no , and it said good , what is it like good humor or something .

Speaker 1

Yes , sounds like piss . Poor humor to me , really

Laughter and Relationship Conversations

Speaker 1

.

Speaker 3

Downtown Biddeford and I'm like girl , no , it is noon . Okay , on a Tuesday you could have done that before shift , after shift .

Speaker 1

Yeah , you don't pull in there with a kid's ice cream truck and go in and get your weed not when you're that close to the starbucks and the mcdonald's yeah , I don't , I don't get it okay , disclaimer .

Speaker 1

I was at the mcdonald's yeah , I think they figured it out . I think the people figured it out , I think , because this is just put on the internet . There's probably not really any . I mean , I know a lot of things on the internet probably are copyrighted , but this girl's been everywhere . So for the people that don't know what we're talking about , I'm just going to- the Hawk 2 ?

Speaker 3

Yeah , oh , back to that .

Speaker 1

I only got 2% of my phone . I'm just going to play this In case people are listening and they're like- . I didn't know until you told me I was like why is this girl all over what's ?

Speaker 1

one move in band that makes a man go crazy every time ? Oh , you gotta give him that huck too and spit on that thing . What's one move in band that makes a man go crazy every time ? Oh , you gotta give him that huck too and spit on that thing . I mean , it's innocent enough . If you're looking at the video like , she definitely seems pretty loaded .

Speaker 1

I say some shit when I'm loaded . You know what I mean . If things that I had said through my lifetime when I was a younger lad had been recorded and then just put out there for everybody , I would have gone viral too right for some shit that I said . I think we've all said some said some stuff . There's . In no way should that really take somebody's job away . What does that look for over there ?

Speaker 3

I think Folsom just farted I think he wet his tail . Yeah , that's not good .

Speaker 1

Oh , my Steam on the couch Heavens . If we're losing jobs over blowjobs , I think that America's going to hell in a handbasket Hell . Bill Clinton didn't lose his job over a blowjob , so I don't know what the hell the outrage is here , man , I don't , I'm not buying it . I'm not buying it .

Speaker 1

She was the reason that Huck 2 became a thing I know that's what I'm saying Like because of what she said , like it became a big deal and I mean , hopefully she makes some money off of it , because when you say funny shit , you ought to get paid for it . Everybody else is making money off of what she said .

Speaker 3

No , no , no , no , no . I mean the original Huck 2 .

Speaker 1

Oh , she's probably been giving good BJs for a long time , if that's the effort she puts in yeah . You know what I mean . This whole thing came up because I started saying hallelujah and I wanted to hit the remix , and I wanted to hit the remix . So there's this dude that I saw here . Let's see Good .

Speaker 2

Oh , my God .

Speaker 3

Oh , my Atlanta the dude said this to these two chicks what always brings ?

Speaker 2

a man to bliss . And she said speed on that thing . Hakatua , hakatua , hakatua oh my goodness Hakatua .

Speaker 3

All right , let's get back to basics .

Speaker 1

I think I can get this for Friday night DJ night .

Speaker 3

No , you don't need to get this , this dude's name .

Speaker 1

I gotta give him the credit is Official Rolling Blue . You can find him on Instagram Joey Calico , I guess , is the dude's name . I'm going to give him props . Give him credit for that . We're completely off topic .

Speaker 3

I don't think there was a topic . No , there probably wasn't .

Speaker 1

I don't really know what happened , but I mean sneak peek here . We're going to end up talking about relationships .

Speaker 3

Me not hock-toing .

Speaker 1

Well , I mean , hey , she gave relationship advice . He said what are you going to do ? You know what's something you can do to drive a man crazy in bed . And she said you got to spit on that tank , give him the old hock-to-it . So that was her relationship advice . And our relationship advice is you got to be able to laugh at shit . Right , you have to make each other laugh . You have to not take things so serious . I think we both know couples relationships , right ? That joke , that video would have offended one of them and that would have been like a runaway freight train of like don't play that in front of me . That's disgusting . Like don't play that . I'm not going to name those folks . I'm not going to name them people , but we know some people .

Speaker 3

Oh , okay , okay . I was like wait , where is this going ? You mean like people , we know I got you .

Speaker 2

Yeah , okay . I'm sure you know some people right , oh yeah , for sure , whether they're close friends or work , friends , acquaintances , whatever right For sure .

Speaker 1

Oh my God that is offensive and she should lose their job . You know what I mean ? Yeah , America , don't be so serious . And first off , I don't know if that broad's a schoolteacher and she lost her job . I just CNN . That right . I heard that shit . One dude said that I'd never fact-checked , that I ain't got Elon Musk checking my shit to tell me if this is regular if this is right , if , if it floats , if it sinks , well , if she did lose her job , then let's just be honest .

Speaker 3

There'll be a petition out there somewhere and some school is going to want to hire her because she's just a genuine person and as rightfully so . She should get her job back or another job .

Speaker 1

She might want to leave that job because , in the sense of , like every kid's probably come I mean I don't know what- age bracket but think about it . Imagine every kid coming in wearing the shirts and shit .

Speaker 3

Imagine if she was like in the high school .

Speaker 1

Oh , my God , spit on that thing .

Speaker 3

No , these boys are going to come in and be like spit on that thing , Like you can spit on my thing . That wouldn't go good oh boy , that would go over like a foreign church .

Speaker 1

She's decent enough looking . So if you're like a high school kid and that's your teacher , you probably got a little . You know , you got a bone to pick . You know what I'm saying ? Like you've probably got a little crush on her .

Speaker 1

Yeah , and you see that video , you probably have a sweatpants , boner , yeah , great sweatpants , boner , yep , if you're in high school and Miss Huk Tui is like your homeroom teacher and you're seeing that video when you were already three-quarter chub , just going into class , and then now you're seeing that video and thinking about her hock too .

Speaker 1

Dude , there's young boys at home right now beating that thang . You know what I mean . She might say spit on that thang . They'd be beating that thang . They put a heart on their wiener . You know what I mean ? Oh , beating that thing .

Speaker 2

They put a heart on their wiener . You know what I mean .

Speaker 1

Oh my god , I was a young boy once I know what this is all about . Man . Yeah , this conversation has gone completely off the rails .

Speaker 3

We don't even have a topic . We haven't even started with the topic .

Speaker 1

I thought we did have a topic , but Relationships . Here's a sneak peek . Here's a sneak peek at our relationship .

Speaker 2

This is what happens . The here's a sneak peek .

Speaker 1

Here's a sneak peek at our relationship . This is what happens . The two of us are on the couch , we're having conversations . This is a normal conversation that would happen in our household , whether the microphone is on or not . It's true .

Speaker 3

This is our life , live in the flesh .

Speaker 1

Yeah , we've actually had a lot of this talk to me conversation already this week , so this is no different .

Speaker 3

We're just doing it with y'all .

Speaker 1

Yeah , and I'm not trying to just pound on this whole phrase , pound on it , yeah , right , the stuff that's been sweeping the nation . I'm just saying in general . You have to laugh and I didn't really plan on having this in the podcast . What is going on with your microphone ?

Speaker 2

You got like sagaloso over there .

Speaker 1

That thing needs some Cialis . That thing is fading dude . Oh my god , tighten her up . That sounds really bad in my headset . But you're fine , I'll let it go , because it's funny .

Speaker 2

How's that ?

Speaker 1

Next time that thing starts to fall down like that , you know what to do to it .

Speaker 3

Yeah .

Speaker 1

The point I'm making is it's important to laugh , it important to uh not take shit too serious , to find time to laugh , because I'm confident that whatever you and your spouse or significant other do day to day , you're probably under some stress , right ? Everybody gets , gets stressed , everybody's under stress and uh , if you don't come home and unwind and have those conversations and make each other laugh , then I mean , what's the point of coming home ? You know what I'm saying ? Make sense to you yeah , complete sense .

Speaker 1

I know that's totally random . Right , it's not something that we were forecasting , that we put on our notes today , because we don't have any notes today . But point is that I feel like laughter is the cure for so many things . It's the cure for for so many things . It's the cure for grief , for stress , for anxiety . If you can find the opportunity , if you can find the ability to make yourself laugh , to make someone you care about laugh , you're gonna get through life a hell of a lot easier . You know what ?

Speaker 2

I mean , yeah , you're right you're damn right , I'm right .

Speaker 1

so that was a sneak peek preview on our relationship stuff which was supposed to be happening in the second segment , but we get carried away , which is totally fine . What else is new ? Yeah , so true , so true .

Speaker 3

We are unsupervised children .

Speaker 1

Unfiltered , unapologetically patriotic and ridiculous .

Speaker 3

And someone's going to trust us with a child . I don't know why they would Yikes , I do not know why they would Yikes I guess the reason that all of this came up is because we're here celebrating our eight-year wedding anniversary . That's where the relationship conversation came from . It is , and that's what I have on tap for segment two .

Speaker 1

I just jumped the gun because I wanted to give a little recap and a couple of PSA announcements for the people that are out there , so I'm going to sneak those in right now and then we're going to come back and rock our relationship stuff . No , let's just flip flop the show . We're not flip-flopping the show because I can't handle that .

Speaker 3

I love flip-flops .

Speaker 1

I need a little structure here , man we are .

Speaker 3

We're going to structure it and do segment two in segment one .

Speaker 1

I just got distracted and I really want to turn the volume up on this .

Speaker 3

Nope .

Speaker 1

Blake Shelton Post Malone duet .

Speaker 3

I really want to see what this is all about . Nope , I have boycotted Mr Shelton .

Speaker 1

Oh man .

Speaker 3

Distraction . Get back to topic .

Speaker 1

Well , I'm going to connect the dots here , because we're going to talk about events and while we're recording this podcast tonight , I'm actually on the TV screen . We have CMA Fest being played , right , and I put this on intentionally . I knew Jelly Roll was hosting it and I know that we're watching it with the volume off so that y'all can hear us and not the TV . But this is a little motivation . This is a little motivation right there , because I envision you and me there next year . You didn't sound confident .

Speaker 3

I'm not yet . What do you mean ? You't sound confident .

Speaker 1

I'm not yet . What do you mean ? You're not yet .

Speaker 3

I'm not yet .

Speaker 1

You're going to be confident when .

Speaker 3

I find some bitch to take my money and I send him a check . And I will take any opportunity to go to Nashville , but I need you to build the confidence a little bit more .

Speaker 1

It's going to happen and I can understand why you're not extremely confident . Let's connect the dots here a little bit . A few weeks ago I mentioned to everybody that Rae Finn from Hogwash and Rhinestones was going to put one of our items up at CMA Fest . She had an amazing spot at CMA Fest and we sent two cases of t-shirts out to her One of our most popular , best-selling t-shirts right out of the Matt Perkins collection , the Savage t-shirt and we were all geared up for her to sell those for us . She'd made some cool displays and such and I can sadly report that we did not sell one single sole t-shirt Not one t-shirt .

Speaker 1

The unfortunate thing is you think about all the time that went into trying to restock those . I reordered some , I cranked them out it was late nights , early mornings and getting those things all together and then overnighting them out to rag . You think about all that stuff . But when you put all that pressure on there and you don't get any sales out of it , that could kick your raid in the satchel . But it was the opportunity . The opportunity was worth the scratch ticket , right . I think it was all worth the chance . So I know we're going to sell those shirts in time . I'm not worried about that , but I think it had to be done and I'm not beating myself up , I'm not taking a loss on this one that we didn't sell any shirts because Ray's clientele , like her audience , her customer base , what she pitches to to what her home base is what she sells

Post-Event Reflections and Lessons Learned

Speaker 1

to . I don't think that's exactly our customer base , do you ?

Speaker 1

no I mean , she does custom stuff right , custom vintage stuff . She does really cool things . She'll take like old concert t-shirts and turn it into a denim jacket and all these things . But people are going there looking for custom items . I don't think they're going there looking for just a patriotic t-shirt . You know what I mean .

Speaker 3

Right , exactly .

Speaker 1

But I feel like her offer was so genuine and true that I was excited about it and I was hopeful I mean , I was praying on it that we would sell a bunch out and above and beyond what we would make financially . It was the boost of confidence that we need to be there and I've been so confident that every time I think about Nashville that if we eventually get there , that we're going to sell out , we're going to sell some stuff . That's how I felt . So it's a little demoralizing to come back from that and not sell anything .

Speaker 1

And talking to Ray , she said that all the vendors she spoke to this was her first time as a vendor , but she said all the vendors that she spoke to said it was the worst year they've actually had , like that this was a down year . It was the worst year for them . But when you're new to something , when it's your first go round , you don't know if it was a down event . You know what I mean . We've been there , we've done events where people are like , oh my God , this was crap and we're like , wow , this was amazing because it was our first time there . So with her going through that , I'm confident that we just need to get there , and when we have the opportunity to be there and to be ourselves , present ourselves and sell our stuff , I mean it's going to gonna happen .

Speaker 1

I'm watching these crazy animals on tv right now and could you imagine watching the replay ? So this right here , you gotta figure . Cma fest was a couple weeks ago , right and um , they're replaying it now . So next year , when we're recording episode 300 something and we have this on , there's going to be some people in the audience that could be wearing some Loud Pod American gear .

Speaker 3

And there'll be a screaming baby in the background yeah , maybe no , our kid will be behaved yeah , that's we'll say we're recording the podcast where you're going on the deck oh , I didn't on the deck that's what we do with the dogs it's true .

Speaker 1

I don't think it'll work for the kid though um , you're going to nana's I thought for sure that you were talking about a screaming baby in the background at this concert . I didn't know you meant on the podcast , which is no , you ding dong our own child . I get it . I get it now .

Speaker 3

Anyway .

Speaker 1

So I just I was going down this road of events . So , on that note , we had a new event last year . Speaking of going to events for the first time , sometimes you go to them and you have a great time and everybody else doesn't , and you come out of there going wow , that was tremendous . This past weekend was not one of those occasions for us . We had our first event at a place that we wanted to be at . It's a local fair for us , one that we both kind of grew up at , and it didn't go so well . I don't think it went very well for anybody , so I'm not taking it personal . We did make some money . We , we , you know we did more than break even . We did okay . It didn't meet our expectations or our forecast , what we wanted for ourselves , what we envisioned for ourselves , but but it's okay , it wasn't .

Speaker 3

It wasn't a flop , no , and we also had the opportunity to get our stuff in hands of people that we don't see in the local area , because it's down the street from our house but in the opposite direction of bentley saloon and people that we saw this weekend do not go to bentley saloon or they might . They might pop in , but it's not during the time that we're there , set up in the parking lot , and they're not . They're not going to stop in so I think you're right .

Speaker 1

I mean , we were there for four days . Of those four days I maybe saw five or six customers come in that I sell to and interact with at the saloon right .

Speaker 3

Everybody else was pretty fresh new faces right which is just getting our stuff in people's hands . Lots , lots of people asked for business cards , which was nice . So I mean I think that you know , looking at the situation , I was like the glass half full versus half empty , like we made some money and we , I mean that alone is a blessing . We made money . There were vendors in there that had not made their vendor booth back .

Speaker 1

Yeah , there definitely was some vendors in there that had not made their vendor booth back . Yeah , there definitely was some vendors in there that didn't even break even . They were in the hole in this event and I'm thankful for the organizers of the event . Right yeah of course . Reaching out to Corey and Cassandra . They hooked us up . I mean , I would honestly say that we had the best vendor location for any non-food vendor in the entire fair absolutely like they . They hooked us up they wanted us to be there . They appreciated us being there .

Speaker 3

They're asking us to come back , and I'll go back because of the appreciation that we've received and they checked in on us like every single day and we go to big fairs and smaller fairs that don't even bother checking in with you once .

Speaker 1

It's a good feeling that they actually care and they want you there . They shoot you straight on the information . So for those things I'm definitely going to go back .

Speaker 3

It's right down the street from the house . We sleep in our own bed at night . It's convenient .

Speaker 1

Yep at night like convenient , yep . To put things into perspective , though , because , like to have this entrepreneurial lesson for people , we often share the highs and the lows on here . Share the struggle podcast . We're going to share the struggles , right ? That's . That's what we do to put in perspective for people , because I've been in those vendors shoes like we had a friend set up behind us that this is the very first time he pulled his food truck out , right , yep , his very first time . Across from him are the two most popular food vendors at that entire fair and one of the most popular food vendors in the entire state .

Speaker 2

Mm-hmm .

Speaker 1

Those two vendors have a line , even when times are tough . You know , what I mean . So for him to be in his kitchen trying to figure things out , going 20 minutes an hour in between sales , and you're looking out at a line of 50 people waiting for a piece of pizza .

Speaker 3

Across from you .

Speaker 1

Across from you , that can break you .

Speaker 2

And we've been there and we've been through that .

Speaker 1

So I just want to share some of that with people that are listening , because we are fortunate enough to have come out of this fair as probably one of the more profitable vendors that was there , and we didn't break the bank .

Speaker 2

You know what ?

Speaker 1

I mean we didn't set any kind of records . But , with that said , on Thursday , the setup , setup day it was like 110 degrees is what it actually felt like , right . I don't know what the actual temp was . It was over 100 degrees on thursday , right .

Speaker 1

That was like you know yeah , it was definitely hot main's crazy ass heat wave hottest day of the year yeah , my mom and I set up uh together because you were working and my mom has a broken bone in her sternum so she wasn't doing very much , so I had to do a bulk of like the manual stuff and we got there at like , I don't know 7.30 , 8 o'clock or so , do the setup through the heat Fair opens at 4 .

Speaker 1

And then we're there till 11 when the fair closes . That whole time , from , let's say , 8 am till 11 , we made 25 bucks . 25 bucks , it's hard to stay positive , it's hard to keep your composure , it's hard to keep that enthusiasm when you've cleared 25 bucks . That's gross , right ? That's not net . So we might've made 12 bucks , right , and you spent more than that on lunch .

Speaker 1

So to all my vendors out there , to all my business owners out there man , you have to keep , you have to keep grinding , you have to keep fighting . You can't lose sight . You have to just stay focused . And the days got better for us and we finished off okay . But I just want everybody out there to kind of have a little perspective that no matter how long you've been doing this and no matter how many risks you take , you're going to have these flops . You're going to bet on yourself and send two cases of t-shirts to Tennessee only to have them come back and not make a cent . You're going to have those 100 degree days where you work from eight in the morning to 11 o'clock at night and you bring home 12 bucks . You're going to go through those things , but the key is to grow through those things , and I truly feel like we are growing through those things , and I truly feel like we are growing through those things .

Speaker 3

And I foresee big things for us this season . Yeah , I agree there's lots of changes and different things happening and moving parts , but I think that maybe sometimes a whole refresh , restart is what you need to pivot in a different direction .

Speaker 1

You think I need to restart in a different direction .

Speaker 3

No , no , I'm saying we're going to different events , our schedules are changing . That's what I'm saying . Sometimes we have to do those adding new events and stepping out of your comfort zone , sending some t-shirts down to Tennessee , like we have to like stop , reevaluate , pivot and try these things , because we don't know if they're going to work if we don't step out of our comfort zone and at least try . I agree , but sometimes those things could be like nailed out of the park yeah .

Speaker 1

You don't know unless you apply and try and figure those things out . I would say that for every single month for 2024 , business has been up . We've been up by doing different things , going different places , trying different things and meeting new faces . June is one month that we're not going to be up . We had a monstrous month last year in June and we're not going to rebound enough to make this month see any growth . We're definitely going to lose some this month , but it's very rare that you come into a year and you win every single month . But to be at June and for five consecutive months , be up , I feel damn good about it and yeah , and I mean there are big things coming like big events are coming so

Speaker 1

there's some challenges coming to you , like we've talked about it today , uh , we've taken a lot of things off of our schedule because the little one's on the way , and that's only natural , and , uh , you know , there's just things that just we just can't do . We've had to say no to some events that actually fit the schedule . But you have to sit back and analyze it and say what else could I get done to better prepare myself , to better position myself for the bigger events , versus just going to this small event and taking , you know , 60 , 80 hours away from being home working . So we're walking a fine line , we're walking a tightrope . I know there's some months this year that we're going to be down , but I really feel like October , november , december , we're just going to crush the rest of this year and we're going to give Loud Proud American its best year . Yet that's how I feel it better be how you feel .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I feel that way I'll come over there and drag you around this house by that big toe of yours .

Speaker 3

Might wake me up .

Speaker 1

You do seem a little tired .

Speaker 3

I am tired . Actually Growing a baby is not for the weak .

Reflections on Relationships and Family

Speaker 1

I don't know if I don't think growing a baby is for the weak . I completely agree . But I also think that some lobster stews , scallops and potatoes might have something to do with that glazed donut . Look in your eye .

Speaker 3

I had some steak .

Speaker 1

We had ourselves a nice little anniversary dinner it was delicious . The two of us , you and me , or two and and a half of us . The other one's still growing . We haven't gone out to dinner together , just you and me . Wow , yeah , I know that's a panty dropper huh , that was impressive .

Speaker 3

I'm not wearing any , but if I was .

Speaker 1

Hello when was I . I blacked out .

Speaker 3

Talking about some steak dinner .

Speaker 1

Oh , we had this conversation earlier . To the best of our recognition , recognition Collection . Try again . I'm drunk . Spend all that dang , recollect wreck . Why can't I say the word anymore ? It's a freaky word , man . I just can't recollection yeah , that'll do it something about an erection . Oh god , um , we've lost everybody . I really did black out . Oh , as far as we can think and look back , and remember the last time you and I went out to dinner together was in october , like a night or two before the fryberg fair opened . Mm-hmm Went out for Mexican .

Speaker 3

I love that Mexican restaurant .

Speaker 1

An old Wendy's restaurant . It's like yeah what was it before ? It was Wendy's . It was like a Wendy's .

Speaker 3

And something else . I remember Lindsay telling us about it Because they call it something . You'll have to ask Scott and Lindsay , but they don't . If you're from from that area . They don't call it the mexican restaurant , they call it something else because of like wendy's something yeah , because of , like , the two restaurants that it used to be .

Speaker 1

It's funny , but a mexican restaurant is delicious so good if you're in the north conway area anyway , uh , randomly on the screen right now , hardy's up there and Stop , that's big and rich . That's John Rich , right there , yeah , that's who Ray said we're going to get one of your shirts in his hands . That's the guy for you . You guys are on the same wavelength , which would be fantastic because , to bring this full circle , huh Ready Are you ready for it ?

Speaker 3

no , that's hardy .

Speaker 1

No , the two dudes on the side is big and rich . Yes , I know that you said they played our wedding song . You came down the aisle to big and rich yeah save a horse , ride a cowboy . No , it was not save a horse , ride a cowboy , lost in this moment . You came down the aisle too , with old travis james humphries rocking it out . Yep , it was phenomenal that little diddy was eight years ago today that's gray gray it's so gray gray , just Just totes my goats , really .

Speaker 3

Do you regret it ? No , you shithead , you want to take it back .

Speaker 1

No , you want to do it again , like sexually , do it again .

Speaker 3

No , I'm already pregnant . Oh , that means we can't cause any further damage . No , I meant get married again .

Speaker 1

I don't want to jinx it . Yeah me , neither I'm going to married again , I don't want to jinx it .

Speaker 3

Yeah me neither . I'm going to leave it . I'll throw a party though .

Speaker 1

I'll throw a party Speaking of parties Two years .

Speaker 3

In two years we'll have Ten year anniversary party .

Speaker 1

Yeah let's have a Sounds good , as long as I should probably call Travis now . Yeah , you should Get him on the books .

Speaker 3

Yeah , we'll be here to celebrate .

Speaker 1

It's crazy to think about and I mean I guess maybe we should just get rocking and rolling on our relationship stuff here . It's crazy to think about . It's been eight years .

Speaker 1

We've been together for 10 years , married for eight years . Today , all that's changed , and the first thing that I think about is all the people that were at our wedding that no longer talk to us , that don't speak to us , whether they're family and they've disowned us , or we've said goodbye to them , or they're friends that are no longer friends , or whatever it might be . Whatever the case might be In eight years , that guest list of people that we sat down and invited versus who we just invited to our baby shower or who's about to get the baby shower invites that's so vastly different .

Speaker 3

I , yeah , I , you're fun . It's funny you say that because I actually wish that I would have had like a copy of like our . I bet you I have it somewhere because I'm just like that as organized as you are , I'm sure you have it somewhere um , but I would love to see , like , who on that list is actually on the baby shower list eight years later .

Speaker 3

It's a big difference , dude , a huge difference , a big difference huge difference and they always say like you know you , you find out who your true friends are like if you get married , you have um , you have a baby , or you know you stop partying or that sort of thing and like I mean there's you're not .

Speaker 1

There's people on that list that I haven't talked to in five years . There's probably some people on that list I haven't talked to since that day .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

Some completely by choice , others not , you know , like we're just thinking about the eight year difference , I mean the fact that my dad had a . You know , father daughter dance with you , and my dad's obviously not going to be at our baby shower . Today is Meme's birthday .

Speaker 3

Yep , 86 years old Meme would have been 86 today and um you know I your grandparents wedding anniversary .

Speaker 1

Exactly On Memme . I can't help but think about the photo of you two , her how happy she was .

Speaker 1

I know we chose to get married on your Memme's birthday and my grandparents' anniversary and I know we've told the story before on here but the Jamie Johnson song In Color which I played at both of my grandparents' funerals and my brother's actually , but there's a song in there about this is me and grandma in the summer sun , middle of June , and it talks about their wedding day and as beautiful as she is and how she looked , he's always going to remember that . And we hadn't really picked our date yet and I was on the porch barbecuing when that song came on and I came in and I said it's been settled , I just picked our date Because June 25th fell on a Saturday and that sped up our whole production , the whole process of getting married ramped up because I think I cut our planning down by like eight months .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

But we made it work and I truly felt that it was a great tribute to my grandparents to share their anniversary and I felt like they were the best couple that I had ever seen , two people that only had one true love , one love from day one until they're both done right . They never literally had a relationship with anybody else , never second guessed a thing as far as we could see . You know and um , my grandparents were married . I think it was 62 years or 65 years before my grandfather passed . I remember we took an ad out in the paper . Um and uh , we had some Jason Michael Carroll lyrics in the paper for them and the photos and the stats about how many kids and grandkids and great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids . Why did you just swear ?

Speaker 3

Because you're freaking . Oh my God , that hurts . So bad .

Speaker 1

What is going on ? I'm having an emotional moment over here , I know .

Speaker 3

And your daughter just kicked me right in the crotch . That's where the crotch goblin definition came from .

Speaker 1

Oh , boy Out of nowhere . What I was trying to say before my wife rudely interrupted us .

Speaker 3

Meanwhile I'm over here crying because you're talking about meme and , like the summer sun , I thought you were crying because your crotch hurt . No . Someone's over here cutting onions . And then your daughter karate chops me in the crotch .

Speaker 1

The point I was trying to make is as successful of a relationship that they had . If a little bit of that , if any ounce of good Jojo Juju Mojo could rub off on us . I was hijacking their anniversary date .

Speaker 3

Yeah , it ended up being a Saturday , and that's how you're like we're doing this .

Speaker 1

Otherwise we would have had to wait a whole other year , or two years , because I wasn't changing the date for that Right . But as life would have it , june 25th is our wedding anniversary , my grandparents' anniversary and your lovely Meme's birthday .

Speaker 2

Mm-hmm .

Speaker 1

So it's special all around . Meme would have been 86 , right 86 , yep . I don't know if my grandparents would have been married for like 76 or 74 . I'm trying to do the math on it but I can't even imagine . So we tried to take every little bit of good luck we possibly could . Mm-hmm , good luck we possibly could . When I shared a photo today on Facebook and wrote a little something , I went through a bunch of our wedding photos and I chose the photo of you getting out of Bentley's car and me just having my hand out waiting to give you some support right , yeah .

Speaker 1

Waiting to get you out of the car safely , and I feel like that photo really captures a true meaning of a relationship .

Speaker 2

Mm-hmm .

Speaker 1

To be there for each other , yeah . To be ready for each other , to have a handout for each other . Whether it's stepping out of a vehicle , if it's picking somebody up when they're down , whatever that is , it's about being there for each other , waiting for each other , being ready to help each other .

Speaker 2

I agree .

Speaker 1

And I feel like that photo really captured the true meaning of a relationship . And when I looked at that photo I did a lot of thinking , because I went through some of our photos today and I looked at how young we were and how ready we were , but we had no clue what the next eight years were going to bring .

Speaker 3

Yeah , we were ready to get married because we found each other and we found our person and wanted nothing more than to marry our best friend , but we had no idea what it was going to take . I've been in relationships but like when you find your person and when you find that person and make sure that you are doing right by them and doing right by the family that you're growing Like , that alone is like we talk about it all the time , Like a relationship is 100% , 100% . You'll never get anywhere with 50 , 50 , never , ever Like so it's really important to put the effort in . But we I mean we have grown , we have traveled , we have learned . We have so much in just the last eight years that there's , I mean , so much more growing and learning with the little one on the way .

Speaker 1

But the pressure for perfection that we , as people , put on our lives , on our relationships , on our jobs . Like we put this pressure for perfection , we all want everything to be absolutely perfect and we expect perfect results . We expect a social media filter-filled lifestyle . You know what I mean , but that's not what we're going to get right .

Speaker 1

You're going to get ups and downs . You're going to get smiles and frowns . You're going to get tears of joy and laughter . You're not going to get the rosy imagery that you have for yourself . When I'm looking at that photo today , I think about like I'm looking at my hand held out for you to get out of the car and as I sit back now and look at that photo and I think , man , we had no clue what we were about to go through .

Speaker 1

We had no clue what the next eight years were going to do to us , but that photo with my handout says I got you , are you ready for this ? We're going to do this together and I think from that photo to today we've done this together we have and we'll continue to do it together I um , that's crazy . You take the time to think about over eight years . Just brainstorm some of the shit we've been through over the course of eight years .

Speaker 2

Oh gosh , so much .

Speaker 1

We went from you trying to find your way . In the beginning you worked . How many jobs .

Speaker 2

I don't know Too many .

Speaker 1

You were working three , four jobs at a time trying to make ends meet .

Speaker 2

Sun up to sun down .

Speaker 1

Remember being in your apartment and we didn't have enough money for heat and the pipes freezing and trying to pay rent and my parents moving you in .

Speaker 3

It was the first time that I ever had like propane in an apartment before and that was like I've had . I had an apartment before that like a few of them , but never had to like handle like normally . It was always like heat and hot water included and I remember my rent was like I don't know $700 . Like it was not that expensive back then . But I didn't know anything about budgeting for propane and I think it was like what , like Christmas Eve , like I went I was staying with you , I remember your fish froze .

Speaker 3

Yeah , we like went back there to . I went , I was staying with you . I remember your fish froze . Yeah , we like went back there to get stuff and I was like , oh my God , it's so cold in here , Like I don't even know like my heat's on , like what's . It was like a reality check for me . I think I was what Like freshly 21? .

Speaker 1

Probably I was rocking the cradle . Yeah , I don't know was you think about some of those things , us being a brand new relationship , you early 20s , us living with my parents trying to figure things out .

Life Changes and Prioritizing Relationships

Speaker 1

Um , I got promoted , got my dream job , lost my dream job , you lost your dream job all in the same week . All of a sudden , sudden , we're both unemployed .

Speaker 3

We got two dogs , brought a horse home , got a pig . We just built a house .

Speaker 1

We built a house together , we got married . We're doing all these things and now we can't afford to pay for any of them because we're both unemployed . We sacrifice everything , bet our life savings on a business to launch a brand and in between all of this , meme passes away , one of my brothers passes away , my dad passes away . Multiple friends have passed during this time . You think about all the people that we've lost , the family members that you think about all the people that we've lost , the family members that have disowned us , or family members that we've had to be strong enough to cut out of our life to better our life . You think about all those sacrifices . Think about some of the relationships we had with friends , circle of friends that we had to say no , I choose us , I choose us .

Speaker 2

I choose us .

Speaker 1

Yep , and if they can't adjust to us , then they don't deserve to be a part of us , right ? If you think about your circle of friends when we met , do you have any of them still today ?

Speaker 3

I think just Lindsay .

Speaker 1

Yeah , Lindsay Bestie , we see at the end of the season really , you know , but like Two times a year . Yeah , I mean .

Speaker 3

I'm trying to think , I don't really think so . Everyone , if I think about it , all the girls , the bridesmaids , I kind of still talk to Sarah , kind of Amanda , when she wants to . Emily , I don't talk to .

Speaker 1

We don't talk to , heard from emily when we announced that you know we were expecting but that's the last time I've but ,

Speaker 3

um , lindsey is is really it .

Speaker 3

But lindsey and I've been friends since we were kids , you know , and like , and even her and our relationship was , was very trying for a while .

Speaker 3

Like it was , you know , like she needed to get her her life in check and I went down a different path than she did . I was ready to choose our relationship and she was still in the partying time and stuff like that , and and it was mostly like you know , like when you're ready to get your life together , we'll have another conversation , we'll , we'll chat and uh , and that's what happened . She got pregnant , she found a good guy and you know , and , and life changed for her and then she started to experience choosing her partner over those things yeah , like um , and over those people and that sort of thing . So it's like it . Now we , we talk more often , you know um , she checks in with me , I check in with her and her son , like you know , um , but it's like you know just it's crazy to think , crazy , all the faces that have changed , the people that we've lost , the people that have you know .

Speaker 1

Just crazy to think all the faces that have changed the people that we've lost , the people that have . You know , we've just drifted apart Some of the difficult times you know , being unemployed , scraping by trying to make things happen to some of the highs right yeah , becoming an auntie yeah , like that was such a blessing . Think about all the traveling for two people that didn't really travel .

Speaker 3

Celebrating Nana's hundredth birthday Like .

Speaker 1

I think about like for me personally , somebody that never really went anywhere . I went to Denver , colorado , so much that people in Denver knew who I was when I got there . I made friends on the road that are friends for life . Me going on the road to Denver connected me with Spencer , which connected us with Rachel , which had that amazing visit with little Mel that helped spark what we're about to do , you know what I mean .

Speaker 1

Yeah , the fact that we spent some time in Texas with the three of them and it motivated us to take the chance on being parents of our own . If you think about it and I thought about this a lot this week , meeting Spence and Rachel and spending time with them and that last trip when we went to Texas we shit , we went to Lubbock , Texas .

Speaker 1

We went to lubbock , texas , and went to basically strangers at the times wedding right and then that weekend when we spent time with um spence and rachel and mel , I remember walking the streets of fort worth , texas , the stockyards , and we started having these conversations about being parents and we put a timeline on it . Then Remember and we said you know , it's this winter or it's next winter . You know we had this whole plan .

Speaker 2

Yep .

Speaker 1

This whole plan of based off of how this season goes , as if it's this year , if it's next . We mapped it all out and I remember walking the streets that last night being there and saying to you this could be the last time the two of us are on vacation alone .

Speaker 2

It's crazy to think about .

Speaker 1

You know , if you think about some of the fun things we've done , like traveling out there and spending the time with Carter and Liz and meeting them in Nashville and then , going to Texas to be , you know , a part of their wedding .

Speaker 1

Multiple trips to Tennessee for us , uh , trips to Milwaukee being a part of Harley going to , you know , the Brewers game and meeting Maddie downtown . And I was one of the first people in the world to ride the electric Harley Davidson . Like some of these cool things that we've been able to do , I went to .

Speaker 3

Maryland .

Speaker 1

You went to Maryland , I did a first time ever , girls trip .

Speaker 3

Girls trip . Worst trip of my life , but best trip of my life at the same time .

Speaker 1

As a longtime Cowboys fan , I went to my first ever Cowboys home game .

Speaker 3

We experienced you went to the Yankees spring training game .

Speaker 1

We've done all these things . If you think about the people in your life that you've lost and I'm not talking about family members or close personal people that you've had to say goodbye to completely out of your control I'm talking about relationships that either they chose or you chose to go in a separate direction those people , those faces , are replaced by far more beneficial relationships when you prioritize yourself and your relationship .

Speaker 2

I agree .

Speaker 1

When you make the choice and this is going to be part of our relationship advice for the day when you meet somebody that you feel like you've met your best friend , that you've met your soulmate , and you're going to open your hands and say we're about to do this together . We're going to Thelma and Louise , this shit , we're going down together and then you make the decision that , at above and beyond , at all costs , this is my priority . They are my person . This is our destiny . We are each other's priority . You're going to lose some people in your life that you care about . You're going to lose some friends in your life that you never could have imagined losing . But when you prioritize each other and your lives together and you truly invest in bettering each other , you are going to upgrade your circle . You are going to upgrade your friends . I'm sorry if you're hearing this and it hurts and you feel like I don't want to lose . I don't want to lose Becky .

Speaker 3

Well , becky Bitchface probably doesn't give a shit about you .

Speaker 1

Bye , felicia , and you're going to be surprised , you're going to be hurt when Becky stops returning your phone call . And you're going to be more hurt when Becky starts talking shit about your ass because she's jealous of you and your man .

Speaker 3

So within the last . It's funny that you say that , because the last two months month and a half or more , whatever I made a post that basically was like I'm done being the first person to reach out .

Speaker 1

That's cool .

Speaker 3

I'm done . I'm not going to be the first person to reach out to you . I'm not going to call you . You don't want to call me , you don't want to text me , you don't want to do any of those things . Those people that I called beforehand just to check in and say , hey , how are you at this moment in time , two months later ? Let's just say , if there's five people , there's really not .

Speaker 1

I have talked to one of them yeah one of them just goes to show man , and that's because I stopped making the first attempt .

Speaker 3

Those five people , all the effort right , right , but those five people may have answered the phone for me or responded to my text every now and again , but now that I'm not making that initial attempt reaching out , checking in , seeing nothing , crickets , which is fine . That's the bed you've laid in .

Speaker 1

And that's the sign you needed to read .

Speaker 3

You know what I mean .

Speaker 1

And I can say that I feel bad because I don't do a good job at responding to people via text and phone all the time , because it's hella high water to figure this out and to make things happen . And a lot of times we're all over the place where we don't have good reception . Or you know you're working with a customer or you're doing something and you miss these calls and the next thing you know you're so busy and it's been two days and you forget about it . But you always try to , you know , pick up the pieces and show the people that you care about them and try to figure it out . But to your point , when you stop putting the effort in , you're going to realize that some people were only dependent on your effort . They didn't care enough to invest on their own .

Speaker 1

When you prioritize yourself and the person that you love and you see bigger and better and beautiful for you and for each other , you are going to upgrade your circle like you can't imagine , Because when you're hell bent for happiness , then you don't have time for the dead weight you don't have time for . You know , Becky bitch face holding you back . You don't have time . You don't holding you back . You don't have time . You don't want to be that crab in the bucket getting pulled back down because you don't have time for it . You're prioritizing your time for the one that makes you happy , and if you're happy and you're happy together , you're laughing about Hock Tooey and enjoying each other and having a nice steak dinner then you don't have time for negativity . You don't have time to be brought down . And I'm telling you right now , man , good people are going to gravitate to good people yeah , the moment .

Speaker 3

Like-minded people . Yes , surround yourself with like-minded people , people that are interested in the same interest that you are , um , people that you are , people that want to see you succeed because you want to see them succeed too . Those type of people are going to help you grow as a person as a whole . In general .

Speaker 1

It is so true , and it's one of those things where what is that old statistic If you hang out with nine broke people , then you're going to be number 10 .

Speaker 2

You know what I mean .

Speaker 1

Um , you show me nine negative friends and I'm going to make you sure that you're number 10 . Like it's just how it goes , and when you start to believe and achieve , you might leave some people behind , but you're about to be rewarded with great friends of the future . And because of those relationships and the fact that I think about that guest list eight years ago and then the baby shower list that you've been looking at recently , I'm so thankful for the people in our circle . I'm so thankful for the people in our life today .

Speaker 3

Me too , for sure .

Speaker 1

The only reason or not the only reason , but one of the biggest reasons why we would ever want to have another wedding , like an anniversary type of . You know , like I said before , I don't want to jinx anything and renew our vows .

Speaker 3

No .

Speaker 1

But the only time or reason why you'd want to have another wedding is to experience that moment and those memories with the people that we care about . That we've aligned ourselves with today .

Speaker 3

That actually care .

Speaker 1

Yes , because if I think about our immediate circle of friends , our family , the people that we spend time with , that we love , that we talk about week to week after week , to have them be a part of what we did and experienced eight years ago would have made that time so much more magical .

Speaker 3

I agree .

Building a Strong Relationship Foundation

Speaker 1

So to anybody out there that is getting married this year , is getting hooked up , hitched up this year prioritize you and your significant other . Make sure that this day is about you and each other and that's it day is about you and each other , and that's it . Make the memories that you want to make with the people you want to make them with , because you're going to be blown away eight years , 10 years down the road . How many of those people you can't even remember or recall the last time you spent time with or had a conversation with ? It will blowall mind . When you nod your head and agree with me , people can't hear you .

Speaker 3

Oh sorry , yeah , I'm nodding my head . Yeah , I just want them to know that .

Speaker 1

It's one of those things like when we were kids and people said man , enjoy school , it's the best time of your life , it's going to fly right by , you're going to graduate before you know it and you're like screw you , asshole . This school stuff is overrated . I'm busting my ass over here .

Speaker 3

Bologna .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I'm miserable . I don't want to be here , I just want a job All that stuff , those old people were true .

Speaker 1

Fuck that . I want to go back to school . School flies by . The lack of responsibility goes away . So as quickly as we grow up and lose those friends and get out of school , the same thing happens with your circle and with the people that you care about , that you think you care about or you do care about them , but they're not investing in you and caring for you the same way they're going to surprise you . It goes by just as quick . I'm loving this conversation , okay .

Speaker 2

Okay .

Speaker 1

I'm loving everything about it , but I also am looking at the clock and I know we're going over an hour here , which on the way home we literally said about 40 minutes . We'll wrap this up . We always say that Always say that and then we blow right past an hour . Pew he gone . How I blame it all on Huck Tooey , because we got off track .

Speaker 3

Mm-hmm .

Speaker 1

Okay .

Speaker 3

Stay on track .

Speaker 1

Stay on track . Let me bring it home back now . Bring it home back now . Yeah , I actually had things in my mind to talk about , and I'm not even going to bring them back up .

Speaker 3

I'm going to do that next week . I'm just not going to be on the podcast next week , and you can do it all and stay on track .

Speaker 1

That sounds depressing .

Speaker 3

These people don't want to hear me anyway . They're sick of me .

Speaker 1

Watch your mouth . Watch your mouth , all right .

Speaker 3

Anyway .

Speaker 1

I digress . Let's try to wrap this up with some advice that maybe we've tiptoed around , but maybe we haven't drove home before . There's some advice that we always talk about Communication Get uncomfortable with uncomfortable conversations .

Speaker 3

Yeah , I mean there's good value All the time Valid . We always talk about it Valid .

Speaker 1

Clear communication's one of the big fundamentals to a healthy relationship . We talk about it all the time . Talk about being best friends . Talk about best friends . You always talk about the 100% , 100% , absolutely . You talk about advice from my grandmother . Yeah , we have all these great things that we bring up . What can we share to mix it up Eight years in ? If there's something we're looking at those photos today and thinking about wow , all the stuff we've been through , all the things that we've grown through , all the highs , all the lows , all the heartache , heartbreak , all that goes with it . Right , okay , we think about all those things . What is some piece of advice that we could give somebody , whether they're just starting their relationship , they're about to get married or they've been together for the longest time but they're just trying to get over that hump ? Whatever , that is Disclosure . We're only eight years in man . We ain't my grandparents . We ain't been doing this for 60 years .

Speaker 1

We we're gonna learn and fail a bunch along the way , and we'd talk more about that today , but we're already going over an hour , so I just want to drive something home . What do you got for me ? What can you share ? What's some advice that we've , you know , maybe done on our own here ?

Speaker 3

I think that having a strong foundation in your relationship is Not a foundation of lies .

Speaker 1

Not a foundation of lies , which that's something we say as a joke all the time . Strictly a joke If , like , you say something and I'm trying to be funny and I'm accusing you of not telling me the truth . I always say we're not going to build this relationship on a foundation of lies . I go to that line all the time .

Speaker 3

Yes , you do all the time . No , but I think that having like a good foundation in your relationship with all the things that we talk about on the regular , like you know good communication , that sort of thing those are all important . But if you don't have a good foundation in anything that you're building like let's just talk about a house , for instance if there's no good foundation , good structure , you're gonna crumble right like so having um a good base , um so you know we've talked about it before having , like , common values , core beliefs , you know those things that you guys hold true .

Speaker 1

We have a whole episode about that .

Speaker 3

Like you said , the communication piece being honest with each other , building that , that foundation of trust I think that all makes great sense yeah , and I mean , um , I think , just having so a good foundation , um , and then good bones in your relationship .

Speaker 1

I see where you're headed here .

Speaker 3

I mean , it's not where I'm headed , it's where Maren Morris went . She did it , that's a pretty cool tune .

Speaker 1

I see where you're going .

Speaker 3

Yeah , she did it , and I'm just going to read this little blurb here for you and you can understand that this right here is exactly what we're talking about .

Speaker 1

I like how , right now we have CMAs on TV here . Yeah , you know , yeah .

Speaker 3

Here you are here , I am here , you are . This is why we are married for eight years Just connecting the dots Mm-hmm Full circle Urkel .

Speaker 2

Mm-hmm Right here .

Speaker 1

Get it girl .

Speaker 3

Do you mind if I just tell the people what Maren Morris said ?

Speaker 1

Yeah , yeah yeah .

Speaker 2

Tell them In the corner Preach .

Speaker 3

Preach it , girl . We're going to church . Oh so Maren Morris says here , when the bones are good , the rest don't matter . The paint may peel , the glass may shatter , let it break , cause you and I remain the same . When there ain't a crack in the foundation , I know any storm we're facing will blow right over while we stay put . The house don't fall when the bones are good .

Speaker 1

Amen , amen . It's so true You're going to weather those difficult days , those dark nights , those traumatizing events in your life if you have a strong foundation it's true you're gonna appreciate the highs and and celebrate the wins that much more when you have a strong foundation listen , I may depreciate when my , my titties are saggy I knew you were gonna say that I don't know why , but you were getting ready to throw saggy titties .

Speaker 3

I don't know why and my booty may be flat . I may be having a long ass day but at the end of the day , if I can still get it , girl .

Speaker 1

spit on that tang yeah .

Speaker 3

We still have a good foundation .

Speaker 1

You're damn right . You'll always have a good foundation when you spit on that tang .

Speaker 3

Yeah , it's like glue .

Speaker 1

Goodness , I think we shared something positive today .

Speaker 2

I feel good about it .

Speaker 1

Do you feel good about it ? Yeah , we could have gone in several more directions , but we had fun , just the way it was .

Speaker 3

This is us y'all .

Speaker 1

This is it .

Speaker 3

Take it or leave it .

Speaker 1

Before we go .

Speaker 2

Okay .

Speaker 1

I was getting perfectly ready to sign off right there .

Speaker 3

Okay , sorry .

Speaker 2

That's all there was .

Speaker 1

But before we go we need to welcome a new Pettengill into the world .

Speaker 3

Oh , we do yes .

Speaker 1

Congratulations to Lindsey and Scott and old Texas Pete for welcoming Hank Pettengill .

Speaker 3

Hank Williams Jr Old HD the Hankster .

Speaker 1

If we have Texas Pete Hankamania . I might have like Houston Hank .

Speaker 3

I was going to say didn't you say something like that ?

Speaker 1

Yeah , like the little Hankster .

Speaker 3

Yes .

Speaker 1

Instead of Hulkster like Hulkamania .

Speaker 3

That's what I just said .

Speaker 1

Hankamania . Yeah , little Hankster .

Speaker 3

Yeah .

Speaker 1

That's pretty good HD .

Speaker 3

He is the cutest little baby . I cannot wait to meet him . Cute as a little button .

Speaker 1

I'm going to tell you , though , when Lindsay started telling you like things were getting close , I got crazy .

Speaker 3

You did .

Speaker 1

I got a little nervous .

Speaker 2

Yep .

Speaker 3

He started sweating . I got crazy . You're like I'm going to throw up .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I almost did . I want to throw up , and then Titted Makes our stuff seem a hell of a lot more real , and I want you to share what I know you're about to share , that we were talking about at dinner Eight years yeah , eight years ago today , we said I do , and eight years later we were touring the hospital for delivering our baby . Yeah .

Speaker 3

At our local hospital .

Speaker 1

I don't think the dog appreciated that .

Speaker 3

Well , she's not ready to be a big sister just yet . But how crazy is that ? Eight years ago to the day , I did that on purpose . I had the opportunity .

Speaker 1

They said yeah , they had an opening , it was creative . I appreciate you doing it that way . So eight years ago they had an opening , it was creative . I appreciate you doing it that way .

Speaker 3

So eight years ago we said I do . It was spontaneous , though I have literally had that list of the phone numbers to call them to just set up a showing , and I was like you know what ? No , let me call today , let me just , I have a minute . I called them and I was like do you have time today ? And she was like , yeah , we do . And I was like , perfect . I honestly , at that point I was at work thinking about 20 other things .

Speaker 1

Didn't even put the date together until it was like done .

Speaker 3

Yeah .

Speaker 1

To think about , and it just goes back to that photo right . When I think about all the wedding photos that we never could have imagined what we were going to go through , what we were going to grow through , all the things we were going to have to endure , the fact that when we said I do , when I think about that photo , I couldn't imagine that eight years to the day later would be touring the delivery room for our expecting child , yeah , crazy it is crazy crazy , crazy .

Speaker 3

But the world and the universe has a funny way of working out .

Speaker 1

Getting a little queasy .

Speaker 3

We still got three months . You're fine , oh my .

Speaker 1

God Before I throw up in a good way .

Speaker 3

Want me to get you the barf ?

Speaker 2

bucket .

Speaker 1

I mean , I'm not puking in a bad way , I'm throwing up with excitement , just nervous I've'm throwing up with excitement , just nervousness .

Speaker 3

I've never thrown up in excitement .

Speaker 1

I scared the dog I might shit my pants and throw up at the same time . Frog and toad . Oh my God , I'm so happy . So not only do I have that's , the greatest sound effects to end a podcast ever .

Speaker 3

Oh my God , so not only in the plan , the birthing plan , do I need to get you a chair ?

Speaker 1

A mop and a bucket .

Speaker 3

But I also need to have them wheel you to the shower .

Speaker 1

Yeah , well , I have a portable pressure washer , battery-operated one my mom got me I might pack that .

Speaker 3

I don't think they're going to let you . I'm just going to have them point you to the shower where you can throw up and shit your pants at the same time .

Speaker 1

I'm just going to bring some crime scene tape .

Speaker 3

You know what I mean ? Oh , my God , I'm just gonna bring some crime scene tape you know what I mean ?

Speaker 1

Oh my god , I'm just gonna quarantine off a corner wherever I'm at .

Speaker 3

I mean , just do it under the birthing bed and just blame it on me . I guess they're used to picking up soiled nonsense from the mom .

Speaker 1

I'm just gonna strip down , stalk naked and I'm gonna put a hazmat suit on with the face shield one and if I shit myself or throw up . It's all gonna be in the suit , you know what I mean , and I'll just peel myself out and then I'll hose myself down and I'll hold that beautiful baby girl oh my god , I'm mortified because you'd be naked after that .

Speaker 3

They talk about skin to skin , but not that naked .

Speaker 1

Well , I mean I'm going to put clothes on before I , you know , meet the kid .

Speaker 3

Before you meet the kid , she's coming out naked

Hilarious Podcast Sign-Off

Speaker 3

Speaker 1

It's not like you're going to want to get close to my Johnson anyway . So if I got puke and shit on it , you ain't going to care .

Speaker 3

No , I'm not .

Speaker 1

I'm not going to want to hawk to it on for a while . No , oh my god , we've derailed this entire episode , but these people are gonna be like are they drinking ? No , yeah we started the show with some laughter . We're gonna end it with a little bit more my tummy hurts from laughing so hard .
