Thank you for Supporting My American Dream!
Would you look at that? Maine has made the national news. Unfortunately, our 15 minutes of fame goes against common sense and, in fact, is an embarrassment for the people of Maine. All that and more on today's episode of Share the Struggle Podcast. Let me tell you something Everybody struggles.
Speaker 1:The difference is some people choose to go through it and some choose to grow through it. The choice is completely yours. Which one you choose will have a very profound effect on the way you live your life. If you find strength in the struggle, then this podcast is for you. If you have a relationship that is comfortable with uncomfortable conversations, uncomfortable conversations challenge you, humble you and they build you. When you sprinkle a little time and distance on it, it all makes sense. Most disagreements, they stem from our own insecurities. You are right where you need to be. I'll take on for my life. What a deal, what a deal. I did it again. Good Lord, almighty, am I so excited to be back with you? Oh, it's true, it is damn true.
Speaker 1:Welcome back to another beautiful, fabulous, voluptuous episode of Share the Struggle Podcast, proudly brought to you by the good folks at Loud Proud American, aka myself, my wife, my baby, my baby mama, my wife and my mama, so my baby mama and my real mama. You know, club mama, club baby and me. It's a big staff. We got here. We got some part-timers starting tomorrow. We'll talk about that on the next episode. But we are here and when I say we, I mean you and me, and I'm looking at you.
Speaker 3:The people on the radio probably think you have a mouse in your pocket.
Speaker 1:They probably do. They don't know what the heck's going on right now. Probably think you have a mouse in your pocket. They probably do. They don't know what the heck's going on right now, much like we didn't know what the heck was going on when I want to say what was it Two weeks ago? Maybe a week ago, I don't know. Everything's a blur right now, but we were getting ready for the big family dinner, which is a big event. Lately Little Miss Thing gets her tabletop, high top view of the sky, sits down in her little chair there she's trying out foods and she's sampling everything that we have and she's getting her purees and and we tend to put on fox news and turn the tv so we can listen to the news and we all play jeopardopardy as a family and things like that. We're getting real old over here. No, we're just making family traditions.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, that's it.
Speaker 3:Changing some things up.
Speaker 1:I'll take that. That works for me. Well, after one of our dinners, we're all settling in on the couch for a long winter's nap. I don't know why I decided to go Christmas carols right there, it just felt like it. It felt right and I think it was the like Laura Faulkner or something or somebody, we were watching some Fox program, right?
Speaker 3:Yeah, that lady that comes on before Hannity.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and anyways some fox program. Right, yeah, that lady that comes on before hannity.
Speaker 3:Yeah and uh, anyways the lady that always just looks like she's miserable.
Speaker 1:But but, she will rip you to shreds she does, she does a good job. She does a good job, but she does have the. She just has one tone to her, whether she's happy or whether she's mad she's looking at you like she knows more than you and she's going to tear you apart.
Speaker 3:I feel like, yeah, she wants to eat your heart out, literally.
Speaker 1:Well, I had heard, while we were doing the dishes and stuff and packing up, I heard her say something about Maine and it was going to be coming on later in the show. So I was just kind of tuning in to see what that was going to be coming on later in the show. So I was just kind of tuning in to see what that was going to be and I should have known. I should have known if we're going to get brought up on Fox News it's going to be some form of embarrassment. It's not going to be a positive quality, because if it comes to government, if it comes to political things in our state they tend to be an embarrassment.
Speaker 3:Yeah, because our governor is an embarrassment.
Speaker 1:We have Biden 2.0 up here in. Maine.
Speaker 3:That's an understatement.
Speaker 1:Austin Powers is doing an awful job with our freaking state. I so think that Governor Janet Mills just looks just like austin powers. It's unbelievable. The same european teeth and everything.
Speaker 3:Yeah, baby let's just put this into perspective. Elon musk says that he signs up for a daily proctology exam yes that's us here in maine every single day, no lube lube.
Speaker 1:Amen to that, amen to that.
Speaker 3:That's our governor.
Speaker 1:Well, if you've been listening along over the past few weeks, you heard me talk about some. I've stood here let's just be honest in front of the microphone, full of pride, and I've shared, I've had the full frontal confessionals about how excited I am by the new administration by President Trump, by the direction of this country, the breakneck, fast pace at which things are getting done. More things have been accomplished in 30 days than in the past four years. There's a bunch of stats we could talk about, but that's not the point. What I stood here and talked about on multiple occasions that I thought was a monumentous event for Americans was when we watched President Trump sign an executive order for Title IX to prevent transgender boys slash girls competing in girls sports sports right when trump signed that executive biological men yes, when trump signed that executive order, he was surrounded by young girls and their sports jerseys and us.
Speaker 1:Being new parents to a little baby girl, these things hit home to us. And I think when you first become parents, your receptors are wide open.
Speaker 1:You're paying attention to all things parent-related, child-related, and for the longest time we've been fearful about having kids. Based off the direction of our country, based off of the direction of our school systems and some of the crazy things that have been happening, and I felt like these past 30 days have been putting the brakes on the craziness, recalibrating america to being back to being america and the things that we we love in this country and getting back to making little girls feel safe, you know.
Speaker 2:Correct.
Speaker 1:I think it's insane that people want to debate this or argue this. It just doesn't make any sense to me. There's no way in way, shape or form that it is fair for a biological male to compete against girls, no matter how they feel about their sexual preference. There's an unfair advantage. There's a biological advantage.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I mean, let's just get the elephant out of the room. They are stronger in general. Their body structures are different. Body structure is very important when it comes to lots of these women's sports, but that's a big thing that people keep talking about here in this in the state of Maine is that like they're basically downplaying the fact that these boys are joining, identifying as a female but as biologically a male. They're signing up for women's sports and these parents are coming forward saying, like my child, my daughter, is going to get hurt, and so what? They're coming forward and saying the parents who are of a transgender child and want to identify as a female. Their comeback is well, your child signed a contract knowing that they were going to get hurt in the beginning.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's obnoxious. These kids didn't sign any contract. They didn't sign a contract to compete against boys. They didn't sign a contract to compete against people that are bigger, stronger, faster. When you are looking at like we talked about it the other day, because this conversation, like when you connect with anybody in Maine, this just kind of comes up and we've talked about you know, when you're talking like pre-K stuff and little kid stuff and they're just playing and they're all just learning fundamentals.
Speaker 3:That's called co-ed.
Speaker 1:That's okay. That's okay. Yeah, it's when we start reaching into. You start thinking about puberty, when these biological males are hitting puberty and these things that are happening. Um, you just kind of think about like number one if there's any kind of physical contact type of sport, then this is by no means safe, correct, and if you're talking about anything, that's not a physical contact sport, but it's still a physical sport, like track and field, for example, which is the topic we're about to head on to, is it's unfair when it comes to the physical advantages, right, and this comes back to. If we're going full circle and getting back to the news portion that we were talking about, we were watching the news and they showed from Greeley High School, a biological male competing in track and field. I think it was the pole vaulting or something.
Speaker 2:What was it? Some kind of pole vault.
Speaker 1:Pole vault okay. This biological male who number one, last year competed as a male and finished in fifth place, and then this year competed as a woman and won first place. So was on the podium winning a trophy and won by eight inches. When a pole vaulting competition, that's not even close, no like that's not even women.
Speaker 3:Um pole vaulting like you win first by like centimeters.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's inches maybe to go from fifth place to that in itself just shows the biological difference that we're talking about and how unfair this is in general. Number one the fact that our state is willing to go against an executive order and the fact that our state is willing to go against the majority of the population in this country. They always say this is an 80-20 situation, meaning that more than 80% of the United States population agrees that men should not be in women's sports. Why, in the sand hill of nowheresville, are we having our state say we're gonna die on this hill, this 20 percent hill that we're gonna let. We're gonna let boys compete in girls sports?
Speaker 1:yeah I don't believe it. So we see this on the news. They show this um, this photo from really high school, this biological male, um, you know, winning an award. And and then after that, like I think a few days later, I was watching the news and I saw a Maine Republican representative, laurel Libby. She was on there speaking and saying that you know she's the one that released the photos and notified the press and started saying that you know Maine's defying this Title IX, you know Maine's defying this executive order.
Speaker 1:And then I actually saw the Maine's Principals Association released a statement and their statement was that we will continue to allow transgender female athletes to compete. The executive order and our rights, maine State Human Rights Act, are in conflict, and that the Maine Principals Association will follow state law as it pertains to gender identity. So the Maine Principal Association comes out and says federal law, state law. They don't see eye to eye. There's a conflict. We're going by our state law, we're going to stand by our state law and we're going to stand by transgender biological males competing in girls' sports.
Speaker 3:I will say this entire thing. I mean I you know how I stand I'm not interested in any of this. I am really I don't want to say hurt, I'm. I'm more annoyed about the way that the process was handled Because, in the sense that think about it as our, as our daughter, in the sense that think about it as our daughter that news media representative took videos of that child doing the pole vault and sent that to national news and that poor kid's, like regardless of what your gender is, has been plastered all over and some news channels will block their face out but others do not. And that's an underage kid Like when there's an underage kid involved in anything else, anything like when you know the school shootings and all that kind of stuff, all of their information is protected because they're underage children.
Speaker 1:I get it and I understand what you're saying, but what I'm going to say is that I feel like they're doing this for this.
Speaker 1:Sure, absolutely, I feel like they're not oblivious to the news. Whoever this kid is, and their parents, right, they know what's going to happen. They also know that, by federal law, you're going to jeopardize the state of Maine for funding. You're going to jeopardize financial funding to your state by taking this stand. They're looking for this. Sure, they're going to jeopardize financial funding to your state by taking this stand. They're looking for this. They're going for this. When you compete and do something like this this day and age, I think that it's fair game for those things to be put out there. What I will say? That isn't fair, and you're right. It isn fair that that, this, that this kid's being exposed and put out there because the family had no idea and becoming.
Speaker 1:What do you mean?
Speaker 3:the family had no idea that the stuff was plastered all over, yeah, but they had to know it was coming. Of course, coming, absolutely.
Speaker 1:That's the thing that's the problem I have with this is like you did this. You knew it was going to happen, you knew the consequences that were going to happen and you still went out and did it. You're getting what you deserve, absolutely. But the point is that the main leadership, main governor and this principal association, they should know better. They're jeopardizing this child by allowing this child to compete.
Speaker 2:Right.
Speaker 1:It wasn't fair for that biological male to compete against those girls.
Speaker 1:Absolutely so if it's not fair for them to be plastered all over the internet, then two unfairs don't make it right. You know what I'm saying? You unfairly competed against biological females and you won. Then in turn, if you feel it's unfair that you're going to get plasticized all over the internet, well then tit for tat here. I guess the real mistake comes down to leadership. Maine leadership should not have let this happen. I understand in a previous administration we got pushed around and you were able to do all this nonsense because everybody's feelings were getting hurt. You couldn't say things, do things, show things and believe things because it was offensive. Those days are over and right, wrong and indifferent. Now stands man and woman. Now stands Two sexes. Now stands there's. The leadership in Maine should have protected this child and it should have protected this state by following federal suit. This never would have happened if our state had an ever-loving backbone and did what was right.
Speaker 1:Correct, this never would have happened. So in my opinion, this child being plastered all over the internet, that weight should be buried on the shoulders of the leadership in Maine that let this shit happen, because the kids are taking advantage of a situation. The kids are taking advantage of a situation. The parents are taking advantage of the situation those things there's always going to be people in this world that take advantage of situations. Leadership needs to stop it.
Speaker 3:This never should have come to this. It's insane yeah.
Speaker 1:It's absolutely insane. So we see the representative for Maine on the news and we see the statement from the Maine Principals Association and us as a family had the conversation that said unfortunately, right now, president Trump and this administration needs to stand on business. They need to stand their ground and stick to what they said. And what they said was those schools are going to lose funding and this could turn into states losing government funding. They need to stand on business. They need to back up what they said, even if it affects our state, because that is what has been said, that is what's been promised, and you can't back out of the promise, because if you're making this statement, this is how things are going to go.
Speaker 1:If you don't make an example when somebody steps out of line, then people are going to continue to step out of line. An example needs to be made and we said the entire time I really, truly hope that President Trump actually does what he said he was going to do. And true to President Trump and this administration and with everything that they've been doing and saying, they stand on business and they don't go back on what they said. And President Trump 1,000% is backing up what he believes, so much so that Governor Powers I mean Austin Powers, I mean Governor Mills went to the White House and, if y'all didn't see it, president Trump called out our governor, and I'm going to play a little bit of that right now so that you guys can actually hear that, in case you did miss this.
Speaker 2:This week Is the main here the governor, are you not going to comply with it? Well, I'm, we are the federal law. Well, you better do it. You better do it because you're not going to get any federal funding at all if you don't. And, by the way, your population even though it's somewhat liberal, although I did very well there, your population doesn't want men playing in women's sports. So you better comply, because otherwise you're not getting any federal funding. Every state good, I'll see you in court. I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one. And enjoy your life after governor, because I don't think you'll be in elected politics. Every state has a responsibility to comply with Title IX. They have an obligation, a legal obligation, and we'll be enforcing aggressively and we're going to be protecting our citizens. We're going to protect. So just to end this administration.
Speaker 1:Pretty unbelievable. He calls out his Maine. Here he's the governor here for Maine. Are you going to comply with this? No, we're not going to comply.
Speaker 3:She says with state and federal. And he was like I am federal, you moron.
Speaker 1:We're going to abide by what state and federal law? Well, we are federal law and federal law overrides state law. And before we get into a little bit more about Janet here, in this situation, I also heard that this.
Speaker 3:Is that going to be the new Karen?
Speaker 1:Janet. We should start that now. Janet, you're being a real Janet right now.
Speaker 3:There's stickers going around our state that literally say hashtag fuck mills. And they are now resurfacing, so those have been out for years.
Speaker 1:I mills, and they are now resurfacing, so those have been out for years I know, but they're now resurfacing, I'm gonna make stickers that say don't be a janet in a in a world full of trumps, don't be a janet we should make those. That'd be good t-shirts and stickers. Coming to you soon. Coming to you soon. I actually read there's been conflicting reports about how vulgar the statement actually went, but I guess that there was a rep from her office. I want to say it was like oh, her chief of staff actually threw a temper tantrum and cursed out a White House official, right after this as well.
Speaker 2:Oh, I believe that, so way to represent Maine in general.
Speaker 1:Seeing this on the news seeing this get blasted everywhere. Put Maine on the map With an absolute disgrace. Go figure, it's absolutely ridiculous. Getting back to Janet, it's my understanding and I'm not the smartest man that lives in Maine here, but I'm pretty sure Janet is Maine's first female governor. I'm pretty sure she's our first female governor. She's not representing very well. Can you imagine for one minute? You're the first female governor of Maine and you take your power to rob power away from little girls?
Speaker 1:away from other females, other women in your state. You were the first female governor in your state and you take your powers and you use them to disgrace other women in your state.
Speaker 3:I just want it to be known. Just take a glimpse of what we're dealing with here in the state of Maine. If y'all would have voted for Kamala, that's what you would have done this is what you would have dealt with.
Speaker 1:This is it we would have closed our business and it would have been a whole different scenario.
Speaker 3:I'm saying like in general, I would have closed my business.
Speaker 1:I would have homeschooled our kid. It would have been a whole different scenario, right? But I'm talking about us personally. I would have closed my business, I would have homeschooled our kid.
Speaker 3:It would have been a whole different scenario, right, but I'm talking about like a female standing for other females and that's not happening. Not happening in our state, oh heck, no.
Speaker 1:Heck. No, kamala Harris was not standing up for women in any sense of the word, and neither is Janet. Neither is Janet. You're the first female governor in Maine, female governor of Maine and instead of giving power to women empowering your fellow woman you are actually taking power away from them. You're making them powerless. You should go explain to the girl that competed against Greeley High School and finished second and finished third, fourth and fifth.
Speaker 1:You should explain to them, you should go, go to them and say I used my power that maybe your parents voted for to take power away from you. You should humble up and have that conversation yeah that's.
Speaker 1:That's what pisses me off. There's some videos that are circulating now from, I guess, like halloween, where janet joined a uh drag show in portland, dressed as I think it was, like a Wonder Woman outfit, parading herself all around the stage. So clearly she has her own interests at heart here and not the interest of the American people or the people of Maine, because, as we've said before, over 80% of the population believe that there's no place for men in women's sports. Why in the hell are you staking your flag on this nonsense? I don't understand it.
Speaker 3:Maybe Janet isn't a Janet after all.
Speaker 1:Maybe she's Jim.
Speaker 3:Maybe she's more of a Harold.
Speaker 1:Probably, and here's the thing. I'm just going to say this I don't have anything against transgender.
Speaker 3:No, I don't. It doesn't affect us any, it doesn't bother me one bit, it does not bother me one bit Gay straight trans purple makes no difference to us it does not.
Speaker 1:It makes no difference at all If that's how you feel and that's what's okay for little girls and little boys to transition.
Speaker 3:These children are being groomed.
Speaker 1:They're being groomed. They're not.
Speaker 3:Unfortunately, they're not making.
Speaker 1:They're not in a position to make decisions for themselves. Correct, this is wrong. I don't personally feel that anybody from kindergarten all the way up through high school should be making any decisions on transitioning period whatsoever. It shouldn't be happening. This is grooming. They're not making, they should not be in a position to make life-changing decisions. Think about it I was not in a position to make those type of decisions about anything as adult decisions when I was 10, 11, 12 years old. So I don't it's mind blowing that that there's parents out there that are going to get behind this and support that. It's one thing to be like. Okay, this is how you're feeling. Like let's talk about it, let's have these open conversations and dialogues, let's be supportive. But this encouraging, this grooming, this stuff is getting to be ridiculous. But the point I'm making here is that I have no problems against transgenders or gays, lesbians.
Speaker 2:It doesn't matter.
Speaker 1:I love all people. I got no problem with any people. I just have a problem with a biological male competing against a girl, against a biological male competing against a girl, against a biological female, correct. And if you don't have a problem with that, then to the biological male that's transitioning, that's now female. How would you feel if I joined your sport, right, right, if you see these biological males that are boxing against women, is it fair? If now I show up and we go toe-to-toe? I don't think it is. You wouldn't say it is. So what you're doing isn't fair. That's what I have a problem with here.
Speaker 1:And that's why I don't understand why the state of Maine wants to just stand on this hill. You gave me an article. Actually, I think this isn't even an article, I just think a Mainer wrote this right.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's just a Mainer, basically chirping back about what she has to say Looks like Nicole.
Speaker 1:Baker is the person that wrote this, but I think that this really summarizes a lot of how the state of Maine is feeling 110%.
Speaker 1:So for the people that are listening, that are looking for a Mainer's perspective on Mainer's current spotlight, then I think another fellow Mainer did a great job summing this all up. So I'm just going to go ahead and read this word for word here. So bear with me. Some of this is kind of the first time I dig through this. But families had no money to take her to court when she kicked children out of schools because they did not comply to her state law. Mask up or you're out, she said. If you don't comply, no education. She has ruined our healthcare system because she said comply or no job. Hospitals are literally shutting down. Now Trump says comply to federal law or no funding, and she refuses to comply and uses our money to go to court. She's a hypocrite. May justice come swiftly, as Maine people will continue to suffer because of her behaviors. She did not stand up to Trump. She embarrassed Maine people. Her behavior does not signify having a backbone. It highlights her ignoring the fact that both sides of the aisle in Maine agree with this executive order. If you or I disrespected our supervisor in that manner, we would have consequences and or be terminated. However, some good will come out of this, because Maine will now be President Trump's focus.
Speaker 1:It's our turn to be exposed. Doge needs to investigate and expose the good, bad and ugly. Mainers deserve to know what the heck is happening with our money. Where has the federal money gone to support our homeless? Where has the federal money gone to support our homeless? Where has the federal money gone to support our veterans? Where has the federal money gone to support our substance users? Where has the federal money gone to support our schools? Why do we have homeless and hungry children? Why don't we have enough providers to meet the needs of Maine people? Why is MaineCare unable to pay their bills, forcing hospitals to close and doctors to stop treating? Do you want to?
Speaker 3:know why our hospitals are closing? Because our governor decided to send our hospital I work for the largest hospital in New England sent us an I-O-U.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that reminds me of like the movie Dumb and Dumber, at the end when they're just handing. They ran out of money so they're handing out IOUs. They open the briefcase, here you go, here you go.
Speaker 3:And the.
Speaker 1:IOU says Lamborghini, that's a big one, that's a big IOU.
Speaker 3:Yeah, our governor decided that it was going to put paying for the health care system that you know takes care of the sick, takes care of the hurt. We're going to send them an IOU. How are those people supposed to keep the lights on? It's not your insurance, because guess what Insurance? We all know is a crock of shit, but sent the main Health a.
Speaker 1:IOU. Think about the fact that how many ways to Sunday she's dicked our healthcare. If you think about mandating the vaccine for healthcare. How many people lost their job over that? Yep.
Speaker 3:During COVID she had not funded I think it was three veterans homes and they all closed, immediately, shut their doors and not set, did not set up other homes for these people to go to. It was their family's responsibility to find other homes for these people to go in. Two of them in particular, I know One. I think the company, like the VA, stepped in and was like all right, enough is enough.
Speaker 1:Yeah, You're sinking veteran homes, You're taking employees from health care, and then so I mean the health care systems in our state still haven't recovered from losing all those employees because they're not coming back. No, they're not coming back. Every healthcare facility is understaffed and undermanned, and now they're not even being paid.
Speaker 1:And then the money she depends on to even pay these things when she's not writing IOUs is federal money that she's now not going to get at all because she wants to die on this hill right here, there's countless stories out there about Governor Janet and some of the things that maybe her brother's up to, some of the other things that have happened during COVID, where these businesses are going under and she's in these shady deals to buy up land. There's rumors about her family buying land. There's rumors about her selling land to China. There's all kinds of ridiculous just shady rumors about what's going on in Maine politics right now. And, man, if Doge comes in and starts finding some of these things and can expose a paper trail of um, if there's, if some of this stuff is true and this can be exposed, then her going to the white house and being an absolute idiot to be the best thing to happen to our state.
Speaker 3:I agree, and I think he's going to make an example out of her.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you pissed him off.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:And why are we the first state to buck up? This governor and some of the politicians in our state want Maine to be like California or Massachusetts, so bad they can taste it. They want us to be liberal country. That's all they want. They want to make Maine something that it isn't. Maine is farmland. It is hardworking blue-blooded Americans.
Speaker 3:We're a bunch of rednecks around here.
Speaker 1:Right, I couldn't believe she was elected the first time around. And then the fact that she won in a re-election. Jesus, I will say, the only reason why she won in a re-election is they outspent paula page by millions of dollars. They were.
Speaker 3:They were buying, buying votes like nobody's business I just can't wait for Trump to just make an appearance because, let's just be honest, we'll put Maine on the map for the right reason, because all of us will come out of the woodworks and you'll see what Maine's really about.
Speaker 2:We're all going to stand ten-tone down.
Speaker 1:My uncle said he went to see him the last time he was here and I hope he does come back and I hope that we get the went to see him the last time he was here and I hope he does come back and I hope that we get the opportunity to show him what we actually really are about and how much we support him.
Speaker 3:I'd like to see the list of all the things that our governor was doing. I hope that if Doge does come in.
Speaker 1:Here's the opportunity.
Speaker 3:I hope he does.
Speaker 1:Not only are you going to mess with the state of Maine and the funding, you're going to take money away from your people that voted for you, but you're going to get the watchdog let out on you and they're going to find some of the nonsense that our state does.
Speaker 3:Because she's been in office for too long, so she's had like years of doing this.
Speaker 1:I don't know. I think she signed her death wish this week at the.
Speaker 3:White House. She barked up the wrong tree and we're just going to get the popcorn and sit back.
Speaker 1:This is the opportunity to see change.
Speaker 3:That's all I can hope for we need to Because our taxes are through the roof Compared to other states. We are robbed.
Speaker 1:Well, they say that actually Maine is one of the most expensive states to live in. Why, and we don't? Our medium income is not near. I know several of the other states. So we're overtaxed on nonsense, and that's what it comes down to.
Speaker 3:For the simple fact that everybody calls Maine vacation land and everyone comes here.
Speaker 1:You can't afford to vacation here Not anymore. At least you haven't been able to for the past few years. And then all these mom and pop shops that were the mystique of Maine, the small business that added the magic wonderment of Maine right that if you're coming to Maine for vacation.
Speaker 1:You're going to vacation land. You're going to see pine trees, mountains, ocean, small business, back homes, down home type of feel. You want that feel good, neighborly vibe. And that's what small businesses in Maine have done for years and COVID and the directions of this government put those businesses under and so many of them didn't come back. Small business in Maine has been getting just torn to shreds and it's sad to see.
Speaker 3:There's a lot of those nonsense laws and rules that our governor once again put into place, like during covid, that really just sent everybody. They just couldn't.
Speaker 1:I said it during covid that the real, true impact of what happened in our state wouldn't have been felt in a year or two years. It would take three to five years to really feel it, because there were so many businesses that just couldn't afford to pay for anything and they were falling behind on rent, on equipment, on all these different things. And now it's really caught up to them and you can see it. You can see it in our state by how many businesses are gone and how many stores are left empty. So it's sad. I really think it's unfortunate that Maine's moment in the sun has been an embarrassing one, but I truly hope that this will actually shine a light on what's good here in Maine and hopefully President Trump can come here and put us on the list and save us, because the unfortunate thing is, I always feel like Maine is forgotten and we've talked about it for years where it always feels like trends take forever to get to Maine.
Speaker 1:We talk about it like by the time a fashion trend makes it to Maine, it's over. Like the trend is over right. By the time the song makes it to Maine, it's off the billboard charts, like we were so behind in everything that. It's the same thing with, like the economy Things take forever to get here. So, like, when the rest of the country is getting hit, maine's still doing good. But the problem is is when we're the last one to get hit by the economy. We're the last one to come out of a bad economy. So, because old janet put us on the map, maybe we won't get forgotten about this time and instead we'll lead the curve. We'll be the example and, together with President Trump and hopefully with Elon Musk, we'll make a damn difference and we'll get Maine to be great again.
Speaker 3:Seriously, we need it.
Speaker 1:The golden age of Maine. It's going to be beautiful. It's going to be big. It's going to be beautiful. Maine's going to be blessed. It's going to be big, it's going to be beautiful. Maine's going to be blessed. It's going to be so blessed we're going to be tired of being blessed. Well, that's my political rant for the evening, and baby love over there, just she heard you talking about Trump.
Speaker 3:She did you look at that, daddy? She said all aboard Tutti.
