Golf Trip Review, NFL Free Agency Talk
Another annual golf trip. I am here to be back with you guys and give you the uh golf trip review, annual review as we normally do on this show. And of course, what else happened when we are gone? We have been gone for over a week here on this very show. What has happened? NFL free agency began. And man, do we have a lot of moves by a lot of teams? And boy, oh boy, man, a lot to talk about. There's so much NFL stuff and free agency stuff to talk about with players and what happened. There's three or four shows of material here. But we're here right now. We're here to go over what happened on the golf trip. We're here to do some free agency, and then we'll see where we end up with that. And we may be doing you know more and more during the week. But first, um, I'll just start off with this. The host played terrible. Yeah, that's how bad the host played on this year's golf trip. Worst I've played in probably three, three or four years, I want to say, was just it was embarrassing for the host, say the least. Um put up some scores that I didn't think I was gonna. I was so confident heading into the trip, uh, was playing good, and then something happened. Now, I could use some excuses, but I'm not gonna, because that's not how the hope that's not who the host is. I just was doing something stupid. It continued, and I just couldn't figure it out. And the other fact is the host couldn't putt. Uh, the one day we played, uh, and I know, you know, putting is a big part of golf, short game. If you can chip and putt, you can save yourselves lots of strokes on the golf course. That wasn't the case for the hosts, folks. The host actually three putted 11 times in one round. That's 33 strokes alone, just in putting. Boy, if I could knock that down to just two putts on half the holes, I would have saved myself six or seven strokes. But geez, that was just an outright terrible performance by the host. And, you know, that's what I get, right? I'm sure all you are laughing now. You know, the host has been on here telling you all the time, oh, the host can do this, the host could do that. Well, the host couldn't do nothing on the golf course this past uh week on the golf trip. Now, again, I'm not making any excuses. It was of all the years that I've been on the golf trip. We get the filth on here, he'll say the same thing. It was the hottest weather we've ever played in for five straight days. It was between 85 and 90 every day. The sun was beating on us every day, and the humidity was just out of control. You put in with that the effect of hardly any sleep, drinking every night. You can only imagine that bodies at our age can't handle that every day. But uh it was still uh a great time, still uh all kinds of laughs, other than the golf. Uh all kinds of laughs, you know, good times had by all. And once again, as always, I gotta give a shout out on this show to Eric Kerman. Once again, he just did everything perfect. Had everything organized, uh, got us, you know, to the course every day. Uh well, except maybe one day, a little mishap. But um uh he got us to the course every day. Uh, he drove us everywhere, and uh he had everything organized. It is this uh again, another outstanding job by uh Eric Kernan, who is the commissioner of the golf trip. Let me tell you how organized this guy is. And it still bothers me that there's people that ask the same damn questions every year, damn. Even I asked one of the stupid questions at one day. Let me tell you how organized Mr. Kernan did this. Okay, when we all got to the hotel and we all got to our rooms, Eric Kernan, the commissioner, handed out a packet to everyone. In the packet was who you're playing with every day, what time you tee off every day, what course you're playing every day, and all the little pairings who you're with every day. Everything all organized in this packet. And if you were in the bus, like myself, the short van bus, which we call it, uh there was eight of us in that, you got a departure time every day, what time we were gonna arrive at the course, and even the day we were gonna leave to go to the airport, there's a departure time in there. All done by the courtesy of Eric Current. And he doesn't have to do any of that, but he does it to have everything so organized. But you still get this. What time are we playing? Who am I paired with? What course are we going to? Do you got directions to the course? What time do I tee off? And even me, I asked one day a stupid question. Do we get free range balls? And it's written right on the pairing sheet. And I still the dumbass who asked that. So, you know, even I asked a dumb question. Even I got caught up in asking him a dumb question. But another outstanding performance by Eric Kernan to have everything organized. Uh, he had the color balls all organized. We play color ball every day, in case uh some people don't know. Color ball is a game every day. This is short explanation of it. Uh the first day was two-man, the rest of the days were four man. Each team gets a color ball, and it's got markings on it, so you can't say you lost it and you didn't, and exchange it for something else you got in your bag. Every day there's special markings on the color ball, so you can't copy it every day. Every team gets a color ball. One guy hits it per hole, and you just go down the line. Every hole you rotate, a guy hitting it until you either bring the color ball home or you lose it. And if you bring the color ball home, you're supposed to keep score with the color ball, and you go from there to see who determines who the winner. So it's a fun game every day. Of course, on the last day, yours truly, the host, hooked it right into the blake on the ninth hole with a with the colored ball. So, you know, that's how bad the host was playing uh this past week. Uh, so I lost the colored ball once this week. I seem to be losing it once a year uh the five days. I seem to lose it once out of the five days uh when we play. But um, yeah, it's such a great time. And also shout out to uh uh the commission's uh partner, Richie, uh the bookkeeper, shall you say, of keeping all the scores, keeping all the handicap, and uh, you know, putting it all input into the uh laptop every day as we got done playing. Great job, as always, by uh the commission and Richie. And again, uh, you know, I he's heard me say this before to him. Um, and I really do. I really appreciate him driving us around. Uh, that is one of the big key things uh for me on this trip, uh, knowing that you know you can do whatever you want at the golf course, uh, drinking wise, because you always know you got a driver who's gonna get you from point A to point B safely. Uh a big shout out to Eric for uh doing that for the uh 7, 9, 7, 8, 9 of us that were in the van every day. Uh I appreciate it, dude. You you did a great job. Keep it up. Hopefully, we're uh, you know, we do 20, 25 more of these trips together. But uh it was great. And uh of course, there's always a story behind the golf trip. Now, I'm not gonna get into this. I have a conspiracy theory about the story, but I'm not gonna share that on here. Uh if people want to talk to me off the record, I'll get you my opinion of what happened. But we had uh an alleged, and I got my hands in the air doing the quotes, an alleged mugging amongst the group. And when I say that, let me give you let me give you the detail. So one of the nights, uh, me and the filth, we share a room, we're roommates, we're also partners, we hear some ruckus outside. We hear some noise, and we hear someone yelling, I'll fucking kill you. I'll fucking kill you. The filth, it's so loud, the filth gets up and looks out the window. Doesn't see anything. So we go back to bed. It's like three in the morning. I jokingly say to the filth as he lies back down, I bet you it was one of our guys. I just said it jokingly. And we didn't know what was going on at the time. We go to Denny's the next morning. You know the filth was on here joking about how we we go to Denny's. We go to Denny's the next morning. Here's two guys from our group sitting in Denny's. They never go to Denny's, we never see them. We go every morning. There's a handful of I would say 12 to 16 guys that go over to Denny's every morning. Of the 32 guys, there's about 12 to 16 guys that go every morning and eat a dead. These two guys never, and the number of years that we've been on this trip have been over there. Here they are sitting in here. So we go up and they're telling the story to I think three or four other guys on in our group. Filth makes the guy start over. First thing he says is we were mugged. Now, for all you listeners out there, what is your definition of getting mugged? I'll let you think about that for five seconds. Right? What's the definition? What's the definition of getting mugged to you? Getting mugged to me means you were either held up at gunpoint or you were beaten over the head and knocked knocked down or you know, hit from behind and someone sold your stuff. That's that's the definition of getting mugged from the host. And of course, other people I have told this story to have said the same thing, including people on the trip. So he proceeds to tell us this story. Now, you tell me, people, when I tell you the story, and this is what we know. And keep in mind, we don't know all the details and facts. This is just the story we were told by the two guys. They said they were drinking, they've been drinking all day, drinking at the golf course, drinking all night. They're drinking, it's about it's about 2 30 a.m. They're still drinking. Now, I don't know how many people out there need that many drinks. I get it. You're on vacation, you want to have a good time, I get it. You're away, maybe you don't want to be, maybe you're happy to be away from your wife slash girlfriend, and and you just want to let loose. I get it, I understand. But at one point, how many drinks do you need? They're still drinking. They said that they became friendly with these two British guys who were staying above them. Now, the place we stay at, not the greatest, but it suits the needs for the Gulf trip. It suits the needs for the price point that uh the commissioner sets out for the trip. And everybody agrees, and everybody stays here. We've been staying there, I don't know, four or five years. We have yet to have any trouble. This is the first year we've had actual trouble at the hotel we've been staying at. So they allegedly they were friendly with these two British guys that were above them. So they went up to drink in their room. Following along, people they went up to drink in their room. They we, our group, was staying on the ground level. Now, these two guys from our group who went up to drink with the two British guys, there's a little lock, safety lock on the door. They put that open and left their door ajar. So it was open. So you could just push the door open and walk in. Now, if I'm going down to someone's room, or if I'm going to go up another floor, I'm definitely not gonna leave my door wa unlocked or open like that. But that's what these two guys did. And remember, they've been drinking all day. They go up there and hang out with these two British guys. Next thing you know, they need more beer. Again, it's 3 a.m. Need more beer. They go downstairs, their door's shut. It's now locked. They were confused. Maybe they thought they locked it, didn't lock it, left it open. Who knows? And again, went for another beer at 3 a.m. They couldn't get in their room. They didn't have their card key on them, didn't have their phones on them, didn't have anything. They go to the front desk. They gotta get another key remade. They come back, they get their door open, and their room has been ransacked, allegedly. Their phones are gone, their wallets are gone, and their two toiletry bags are gone, along with the rental card. Now, you say to yourself, whoa! What happened? As they're going through their stuff to figure out what else is missing, they got the door open to their room. As they're in the room, the one guy allegedly hears their rental car beep. And he looks outside, he doesn't see anything. Again, still up at 3 a.m. Still drinking, both guys hammered out of their mind. As they're going through their stuff to make sure that what else they still have some stuff. The rental car beeps again. This makes them believe that the guy who took the keys is close. As he goes outside to look, he sees a guy go around the corner wearing a hoodie. So he he waits again. This guy allegedly comes back around, hits the button again, rental car lights up, our guy comes flying out and allegedly tackles the guy and knocks his hat and ear ear uh earphones off his head in midair, tackles this guy to the ground. And that's the part where we heard, where me and the red filth woke up and heard, I'm gonna fucking kill you. That was our guy saying that to the alleged uh, how would you say, prowler? We'll call him the prowler. Uh the alleged prowler. Now remember at the beginning of this story, I said to the filth, uh, what I bet you're one of our guys. Remember, I said that. I said that. Well, it happened to be it was our guys. So allegedly he's got this guy on the ground. As he's got this guy out of the ground, another guy emerges from the bushes and takes off. The other guy that's in his room, who got his stuff stolen, chases after him and his bare feet. Now, he doesn't catch him. The guy allegedly leaps over the wall and disappears. As the other guy tackled the one guy, another guy from our group allegedly wakes up. He tells the guy, watch him as I go help watch so-and-so. As he goes to watch the guy, the other guy manages to escape and leave. You're following along here, drinking all night, three in the morning. They call the cops. The cops come, they can't do nothing about it. As the cops come, they ask them where did these guys run off? They go over to a spot where this guy leaped over the wall, and in the bushes, they find two toiletry bags, which was their stuff. In one of the bags, they happen to find one of the guy's wallets. So they got one of the wallets back, still no cell phones, and the rental car keys are missing. They had the guy on the ground. Tackle! They couldn't hold on to him until the cops came so they could get the keys and everything else and find out what happened to their stuff. Now, I'm not saying none of this happened. I'm not saying that they they they got their stuff, they did get their stuff stolen. They did lose their phones, the one guy did lose his wallet, and they did lose the rental card. I'm not saying that didn't happen. But we don't know the true what happened with the story. As I said, I have a conspiracy theory. I'm not gonna share it on the show. I told the filth by conspiracy theory. I told Mrs. Host, Mrs. Host thinks I'm crazy. But I'm just saying. I'm not saying nothing happened to them. They did lose their stuff. And it did cause mass chaos the next morning. Because they couldn't get their clubs out. They had to call a locksmith. And made everything of the day all mismatched of what was happening. We ended up driving to the wrong course because of it. Because we were so frazzled of what happened, rushing to get these guys' clubs in the car and taking two of the guys that were in that rental car. We went to the wrong course because of it. Again, I'm not saying they're not telling the truth. I'm just saying when you've been drinking all day and drinking all night. Some of the stories you may think or may happen or may not happen may be a little fuzzy. And again, we were mugged. That's not getting mugged. Right? You guys with me? Do I feel bad for the guy? The one guy lost his wallet and they both lost their phones? Absolutely. They're part of the group. Of course I cared what happened to him. I didn't want anything to happen to these guys in our group. They're good guys. One guy was, we talked to the one guy the day before, he's great. He's first time on the trip. The other guy's been coming out a trip. He's great. Great guy. But I I again, when you've been drinking all day like that, I don't know what to believe. These guys were so hammered. They were still hammered when we saw him at Denny's in the morning. At 7 a.m. Here's the best part. Here's what these guys are troopers. They were drinking all day the day before, drinking all night. Up all night. They both still played golf the next day. Now that, now that folks, that is, that is impressive. That is very impressive. I don't care who you are. That's impressive that you're able to do that. Not one of them, both of them did. Now that's impressive that you're able to do that. But that that was the story of the golf trip. The alleged mugging. And again, something did happen. We just don't know what happened. But I mean that's that sums it up for the golf trip. And I and if I if I didn't tell her right, fill me in on some pieces I may have may have forgotten when you hear this. So a lot of people known the host a lot of years. And uh I usually keep my hair pretty short. Um almost like a uh buzz cut kind of, not really. But this year I got my hair really long, it's really grown out. And because it was so hot and after playing, I ticked my hat off. You know, my hair kind of stuck up because I had a lot of hair. Well, everybody was calling the host Don King. Everybody was saying the host looked like Don King out there. Jesus. You know, these guys, they're they're the best. I I love all these guys, they're the best. But everybody calling the host Don King. What is what does hair do? Oh boy, you can't make it up, people. You can't make it up. But that is the uh summary of the golf trip. Now, I I know a lot of you are like, come on, host, this is this this is a sports talk show. Get on with the free agency talk. Don't worry. We got, like I said, we got plenty of shows to talk about free agency. The NFL season isn't starting tomorrow. So we got plenty of stuff to talk about here. So uh let's let's let's get into the NFL free agency. Um so here's the here's the uh there's a couple things that happened before free agency started that we need to uh discuss. Um of course, the one big thing is the whole Ravens, Raiders, Max Crosby mishap. Boy, oh boy, oh boy. Uh the other thing the host was getting ripped on was uh everybody was concerned when NFL Free Agency was going to be starting because everybody knows when NFL Free Agency starts, it usually starts on the golf trip. And when it starts on the golf trip, the host remains in the cart, golf cart, scrolling his phone for updates as free agency is going on. Scrolling through his phone. And uh, hey host, you're up! And the host is sitting in the cart, scrolling through the news and updates from all the NFL pundits up there uh to find out what's going on. But uh, yeah, so the host took a little ribbing with that. I was actually pretty good about it this year. I actually did uh, you know, make sure I was ready to play when called upon. So uh let's not be fooled here. The host wasn't uh, you know, always just staring at his phone. So let's just talk about the big, the one of the big stories of the free agency. So Max Crosby was traded. This is during, this is the first or second night of the trip we're on. Max Crosby was dealt to the Baltimore Ravens for two first round picks. Immediately, everybody that thought this trade, whoa, what a trade for Baltimore! They got Max Crosby, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. That's gonna do sort of solidify their pass rushing need. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. What a trade. They gave up two first-round picks for him. So free agency began. All kinds of things are happening in free agency. Meanwhile, during free agency, the Ravens lose their center, Tyler in the bomb, uh, to the Oakland Raiders in free agency. He signs the biggest center deal ever for a center in free agent history. He signs a three-year$81 million deal with the Oakland Raiders. That leads the Ravens, but not the center. I said to myself, okay. Everybody thinks Max Crosby's signing is so great. That's probably the worst thing that could happen to Baltimore. And meanwhile, they lost two of their three tight ends, another edge rusher, a safety, and their punter. But man, everyone was gloating for them because they signed. I mean, they traded for Max Crosby. Everybody was going crazy. They lost all those players. But man, Max Crosby puts them over the top. Back, back, they're gonna go to the Super Bowl. Limar Jackson. So let's back up. They lost their center. Their center to Limar, who he's been comfortable with the last five years. The center who's paved the way for freight train Derrick Henry to run through. The same center who calls all the blocking schemes up at the line of scrimmage for Lamar. The same center who's more than comfortable with Lamar at quarterback. The same all-pro center that paved the way for Lamar and Derrick Henry to run all those yards. They lost. So you think another one of those guys, this is on the roster for them? I don't care what who cares about Max Crosby? Losing their center is more defining than gaining an edge rusher back. Especially a center of that caliber. Yeah, people are gloating and getting all excited over Max Crosby being there. And this is before, this is before we find out that Baltimore renigs on the deal. So after they lost all those guys in free agency, two days later, right before free agency allegedly begins, because Monday was the tampering period, and then Wednesday is the official free agent session. Right before the clock was going to strike, Baltimore renicked on the deal for Max Crosby. Max Crosby because of a failed physical. Now Max Crosby's had meniscus surgery. And he hasn't been able to perform yet. So of course he's going to fail a physical. He's not, he hasn't been told he can play on the field yet. So of course he's going to pass it. He's not going to pass the physical. He failed it. So Baltimore said, nah, we're good. Keep Max Crosby. We want our two first-round picks out. And this is what I think, Allen. I think Baltimore made the trade, threw the first two first-round picks out there, and we're good with that. They had no idea that they were going to lose their center. They had no idea that they're going to lose two of their three tight ends. One was Isaiah, luckily. They didn't know they were going to lose their other pass rusher. They had no idea that the losses they were going to take in free agency. And yet, they got Max Crosby back, but traded two precious first-round picks. I think the general manager panicked and said, whoa, we lost these guys. We can't afford to lose those first-round picks. And despite the money that we are saving, because Max Crosby's already signed and he's scheduled to make 27.3, 28.9, and 20 and 31 million in the next three years, because that money was already there and already set, they thought they were saving something, some money wise. That's why they traded the first round pick. That was going right for these high-edge pass rushers. That was right for Micah Parsons last year. So Baltimore, I think, panicked. As Max Crosby was in the building, failing his physical with his family, the Ravens were working a side deal with Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bank. They ended up signing Trey Hendrickson. They actually got him at a great deal for a 31-year-old pass rusher. After they nixed the Max Crosby deal, they ended up signing Trey Hendricks. So Baltimore did end up getting their pass rusher and saving the two first-round picks. They probably got the same caliber player. I actually think Trey Hendrickson is a better pass rusher than Max Crosby. Now Trey Hendrickson was hurt last year. He didn't put up the numbers that he'd done in the past. He had two seasons in a row of 17.5 stacks. Last year he didn't play because he was hurt. Now they're paying a lot of money for Trey Hendrickson. He's 31 years old. EJ Watts has turned 31 years old. He only had seven and a half sacks. And Pittsburgh's paying him almost$49. So again, what you may think is a good signing. And you may spend a little more money than you would have on Max Crosby, but you save the two first round picks. But you may not get production-wise back on what you what you bought. That's the thing with free agency, right? When a player gets older, you want to be paying for what you're going to get. You don't want to be paying for what happens has happened in the past. Yeah, Trey Henderson had 17 and a half sacks two seasons ago. You don't want to be paying for that. You want to be paying for 17 and a half sacks in the future. I just don't know if Trey Henderson is going to give you that. Now, what's funny is there's all these Bears guys out there. And they've been tweeting that and getting excited now that the Ravens have reneged on their deals, that now Max Crosby's going to go to the Bears. Because now, after Max Crosby went back to the Raiders, Max Crosby said, I'm a Raider, I'm staying, this is where I want to be. Well, that's not up to you, Max. That's up to what Oakland wants to do. So they already sent you on your way once. What makes you think they're not going to send you on your way again? But there's all these Bears guys tweeting that in order for the Bears to be able to sign Max Crosby, they had to get rid of Tremaine Edwards and DJ Moore. Well, the Bears just did they did do that. They got rid of both of those players. Now they do have the cap space to bring on Max Crosby. So it's going to be interesting, this whole Max Crosby thing, to see what happens if another team wants to take a chance and bring them on to his team. You know the Asky Price now. It's two first round picks. The Ravens were tough enough to do it. The good thing they reneged on. So now, with the fail physical out there, though, does that make Max Crosby not two first-round picks available? Is he not worth it now? Maybe he's worth a first-round pick and a third-round pick because of the fail physical and the uh unknown medical reports of the torn meniscus. Maybe that's not the asking price anymore. Maybe the Bears are gonna benefit from this mess. So you just don't know uh what's gonna happen. And how about the Raiders? You know, they went crazy in free agency. Now, it seems like there's three or four teams this year in free agency that took a playbook of what New England did last year. Had a bad season, got a quarterback in place. All they needed were some key pieces, and they felt like they could solidify that in free agency. And that's what New England did. They went out and got a defensive lineman. They went out and got a wide receiver, they went out and got other key pieces for their team. And it worked out. They made it to the Super Bowl. So, you know, this is a copycat league. If something works one year, other teams are gonna say, hmm, maybe we can do the same thing. So I think the Raiders are trying the same thing. They got the number one pick. We all know who they're taking, Francisco Mendoza. So they went out and did this. They signed quarterback Eric Stokes, three years 30 million. Wide receiver Jalen Naylor, three years 35 million. Defensive edge, Wheedy Pay, three years 48 million. Tyler Lindebaum, which we just talked about, and the whole Max Crosby thing, three years 81 million. Linebacker Quay Walker, three years 40 million. Linebacker N'Cobe Dean, three years 36 million. They traded for Terran Johnson, and then they signed Malcolm Kuntz for one year 11 million. So the Raiders, new coach, new GM, not messing around. They want to be known in the AFC West as a team that wants to win. And right there, with all those players listed, whether it works or doesn't work, they're let it be known that, hey, we're not sitting here going to be pushed around in this division as the division whipping boy is an easy two wins every year. We're gonna fight, and we're gonna try to win this AFC win. So that's what the Raiders want to do, and that's what they plan on doing. And who knows what Francisco Mendoza. He's either gonna be it, or he's not gonna be it. So a lot of key comes down to that. They got all that money to spend. They don't have a they're not paying a quarterback, so why not build around the quarterback? And that's what they seem to be doing right now. And the the best part is uh Geno Smith. Your friend, Geno Smith, he ended up going to the Jets. So the guests thought he got rid of Geno Smith many, many, many years ago. Well, guess what, guests? Geno Smith is back again at 35 years old. He's become full circle, and he's back on the Jets to lead your team next season. Boy. Jets. What a freaking bunch of buffoons. Um, there's so much stuff that I want to talk about. Uh, I just I just uh one more, I'll just touch on one more thing. People are probably gonna wonder, oh, so how did the Steelers do? Well, I'm gonna just real quick. Um the Steelers to me. Now, I'll run down what they did and I'll give you my quick thoughts about it. The Steelers to me, they did everything with all their moves as a team waiting for Aaron Rodgers. That's exactly the moves they did. They didn't trade any of their veterans, they re-signed Cam Hayward to a two-year deal. This guy's gonna keep on playing until you know his legs don't work. They went out and traded for Michael Pittman Jr. of the Colts, and then gave him a three-year$59 million deal. So now on one side, we got DK Metcalf. On the other side, we got Michael Pittman Jr. They did lose Calvin Austin in free agency. He went to the Giants. I like Calvin Austin, but is he as good as Michael Pittman Jr.? Probably not, but Michael Pittman Jr. only had one 100-yard game last year, and it was against the Steelers. And again, his quarterback, Daniel Jones, got hurt. And he had old man Phillip Rivers throwing. So you can't really say it was Michael Pittman Jr. But now the Steelers have a legit wide receiving corpse. They got two legit wide receivers. And that was one of Aaron Rodgers' big complaint. They ended up getting Rico Dow. A two-year deal. Rico Dow was Mike McCarthy's guy in Dallas. He was shipped off to Carolina, had a great season in Carolina. Now the Steelers bring him in on a two-year deal. That's because they lost Kenneth Gainwell to Tampa Bay. I really wanted the Steelers to keep Kenneth Gainwell. I thought he was great last year. He was named the team MVP. Now every team votes for a team MVP. Pittsburgh's one of the few teams that do it every year, but they voted him the team MVP. And they let him walk out the door. But they did get Rico Dow back younger, knows Mike McCarthy's offense, will fit well with Jalen Warren, catches balls out of the backfield, runs hard, so he could be a great addition. So Aaron Rodgers, if he's the quarterback, got this guy out of the backfield to throw the ball up, just like he had last year with Kennedy. And the big defensive move was they signed Jamal Dean from Tampa Bay. Now, I didn't know much about Jamal Dean until I started reading some stuff about him. And I found this stat of Jamal Dean. When he was on Tampa Bay last year. This is Jamal Dean on the field stats and off the field. Defensive team ranks. On the field, total defense. Number 11 in EPA, number 14 in success, number 12 in yards per attempt, number 10 rating. When Jamal Dean was off the field, Tampa Bay's defense ranked 32nd in EPA, 31st in success rate, 31st in yards per attempt, and 32 in rating. So much needed help in the secondary because the Steelers also lost James Pierre to create. So he'll fit on the other side of Joey Porter Jr. in that defensive backfield. So whether you think those are great moves, they're not splash moves like some teams, but it's moves that can benefit and help the team all for one certain player to come back. And that of course is whether the team ends up doing that because he was on, of course, Ted McAfee's show saying he hasn't made a decision yet. The general manager is here, Omar Khan says he hasn't made a decision yet. So we'll find out whether that's gonna be the decision. Most likely it is because of these moves. We'll see. And again, as we come to the end of this show, we all know what time of year it is. It's the host favorite. It's bracket time. I got to hear about everybody playing their brackets and bragging about their brackets this week.
SPEAKER_01Get your bracket out, people. Let me fill out your bracket. Oh, I got a 13 C B and a 4C. I got a 12 C B and a five seed.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, I gotta hear this. And then I have to hear every morning, every Monday morning in our our managers meeting, they'll pull up the standing, you know, for the big five dollars of a bracket pool. You know, let's break the bank here where I work. And we'll hear, I'm in first place, and a whole five people are playing, by the way. A whole five people are playing.
SPEAKER_01And look, I'm in first place. I got 42 points, I got 35 points, I had a 14-seed meeting a three-seat.
SPEAKER_00It's just it's just ridiculous that these guys think they're so great with their brackets. So great at five dollars a bracket.
unknownFive dollars.
SPEAKER_00Just ridiculous. So the next few weeks I get to hear bracket talk amongst the office and all the college basketball experts. It's one of my favorite times of year to just look at these people and just shake my head. But anyway, that's all I got for you on this show, folks. Again, appreciate all the listeners. I appreciate the patience listening to the golf talk in the beginning. I appreciate you mean not being on. You guys have been you guys were great when I was gone. I mean the downloads were happening every day. To all the people who find the show. Thank you. I appreciate it. If you like the show that much, tell your friend. Tell your neighbors because we want more people listening to this show, and the host just loves it. Hey, it's free. There's no commercial. Right? Anyway, you know where to get the show by now. That's the host at SteelDF on his Twitter slash X, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google Podcasts, Podcast, Amazon Music. And as always, don't forget, nice to be important, but more important to be nice. And I'll leave you with a little solo, Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. This is, of course, the solo song. This is Trumpets of Jericho.
