You're listening to the post and it is episode five fifty-nine. And yes, we are back again to continue our NBA free agency coverage. We might get to the PGA tour uh tidbit that I had in there. And of course, we're gonna start with our next division in our over and unders. And on this very show, we're gonna start doing the NFC North. That's two teams we're gonna have on this show coming up here at the end of this episode. And that'll be the start of you know that division right here. So, anyway, um, as I said before on the last show, 558, you guys probably just listen to it, you probably listen to it after your great 4th of July weekend. The NBA is just out of control and there's just a lot going on. But I do have some soccer hooligan comments that I have to address. Now, when I recorded 558, which is the episode you know prior to this, what I'm recording today, I knew that the Balgoon guy, whatever his name is, I heard other guys pronounce it differently than I have, of course, because that's who the host is. He just pronounced his uh names wrong. Um we touched on it briefly that uh the red card has been suspended, and he's gonna play tonight, folks. Tonight, this game is tonight, as I record this here on Monday. The game is tonight against um Belgium. Now, I just thought there was some shenanigans pulled, and they finally looked at it and saw that it wasn't really a red card, there really needed to be a red card, and I thought FIFA, FIFA, whatever they're whatever they're called, I thought they just said, you know what? We're gonna take it back. It was the wrong call that ref made the wrong call. We're gonna let um Bull Gone play in the match again field. Then after I recorded the show yesterday, I got done recording and I went and I read the news. I had no idea that President Trump got involved. I guess he got some lawyers involved, and he called uh FIFA up himself and told them that they needed to rescind the red card, and that's how this whole thing came about, where uh Bel Gol is going to be able to play tonight against Belgium. Now, of course, you want the USA team to have all their best players out there, of course you want to have the best team possible to win a game to move on. But man, I I gotta say, that's not right. That's not right. If the Belgoon guy who got the red card was truly a real soccer player, a real soccer enthusiast, he you know plays by the rules, and if he wanted to uh you know back what really soccer means, he would sit out tonight, regardless of the ruling that President Trump and his lawyers had to get involved in. He would sit out, he would really sit out. He got a red card in the game, and he needs to sit out. That's basically what should happen. Yet he's gonna play. Now, again, again, I'm just saying, I have no problem with him going out there and playing. We want USA to win, we want USA to kick Belgium's ass tonight. As you, you know, you'll hear this show knowing the result. So, of course, but let me throw this scenario at you, or just let me throw this scenario at you. Let's just say, okay, Kansas City is playing Buffalo in the AFC Championship game to get to the Super Bowl. Mahomes, Mahomes got caught doing some illegal drugs, doing performance-enhancing drugs to make him play better on the field. The NFL suspends him for the game against Buffalo to get to the Super Bowl. So now Buffalo now has an easier chance of beating Kansas City, obviously, because Mahomes is not there. So Buffalo has a great chance to get to the Super Bowl. But then a few days before the big game is gonna start, the president of the United States intervenes and says, I'm a big Kansas City fan. I don't think Mahomes should be sitting out the AFC Championship game because he did he did performance enhancing drugs. I'm gonna get my lawyers involved and we're gonna get him to play. We're gonna go to the NFL and we're gonna get him to play. And the president and his team go to the NFL and Roger Goodell, and the next thing you know, Mahomes is playing in the game. Is that right? Is that the right thing to do? Is that what you want? Is that what you want? Is true soccer fans of the sport? That's okay. You you it's okay for the Balgoon guy to play? He got a red card. Now, was it an act that deserved a red card? No. I mean, we saw that play last night in the Mexico-England game where the guy like totally took out the uh the the England guy totally took out the Mexican player. That was a red card. That looked like that was intent to injure and do bodily harm to that player. That was a red card. Now, Balgoon's play wasn't a red card, but he got a red card. That's the rules. See, this a red card hasn't been rescinded in soccer since 1962. Yet, here we're our president's got to get involved to get the red card rescinded. Now, the Belgian player is the Belgian coach is totally upset at going off in a press conference. Other members of the soccer community are upset and you know going crazy on Twitter and saying stuff. Again, I'm not rooting, I'm not rooting for Belgium to win it all. I'm just saying, right? I'm just saying. The Belgium guy got a red card. He should serve whatever is involved with the red card to its full extent. Serve it out. You just can't, you just no, what what's the standard now, right? What's the standard moving forward? If you get a if you get a red card, hope the president of your country or or whatever whatever chairman of your country gets involved and hopes it gets rescinded, that's the new standard down in soccer because you let this one go. So a red card now doesn't have really any meaning. Doesn't have any meaning going forward now in soccer because you never know who's going to get involved and get the card rescinded. So nice job. Nice job. Nice job doing that. If you're, you know, I don't know what Belgium is is is bitching and complaining about. I understand, right? Having the Balkoon guy on the USA team, having him on the field makes it makes it a little more difficult for your team to win the game tonight. I understand that. But wouldn't you want to beat the best team that they have out there? Wouldn't you want to play the best team that USA has to offer? Wouldn't you want, but wouldn't it mean more now to stick it to the United States if you're Belgium to win that game tonight with the Belgoon guy playing? Wouldn't that just even be more sweet of a victory if they could pull that off? I don't think they're gonna win. And again, I'll say this again. You guys are gonna hear this show knowing the result. So, but I just wanted to come back on and talk about that real quick. So moving back in to our uh NBA free agency thing. Uh the big trade that went down uh after the uh Giannis trade that was you know happened over a week ago was Jalen Brown traded to for Paul George and some number one picks. Now, there's all kinds of speculation about this trade. Did Braun, I mean, did Braun, did Brown really want out of Boston? He denies nice and denies, denies. I didn't want out, I wanted to stay, I wanted to stay here and play. He denies that he was upset, that he was dangled as part of the Guyannis trade to get Giannis to Milwaukee. I mean Guyannis to Boston from Milwaukee instead of going to Miami. You know, he was his he was the big name, you know, thrown out there in people's faces. He's saying he wasn't upset that he wanted to be a Boston Celtic. He didn't expect to get traded, but Boston thought otherwise. Did you know that the Celtics have a player analytical chart and Jalen Brown is number seventh on it? According to the Celtics analytical chart, Jalen Brown is their seventh best player. Their seventh best. And a career high in points, career high in assists, career high in almost rebounds, all-star. Could have been MVP. Yet on Boston's team, he's listed at seven. Had his best year of his career, statistically. Yet Boston didn't even want any part of him. They want to ship him out. Now there's another rumor that you know he already had his uh mega extension for uh $62 million a year. There's another rumor out there that he was wanting a two-year $140 million extension added on to his years because of what happened with the Giannis trade of him dangling out. There's that rumor too. Clearly, of this trade. Philadelphia got much better. They got rid of Paul George, who's always hurt, who hasn't been the same player since he busted his leg open in that exhibition game here in Las Vegas many years ago when he played for the Indiana Pacers. He hasn't been the same player since. And Philadelphia got to unload him to the Boston Celtics with his big salary. He's 36 years old, and he hasn't played a full season in eight years. And the Philadelphia 76ers got to unload him, and in return, they got one of the 10 best players in the league. Boston clearly got worse. Now we're gonna touch on a few things what Boston did in a little bit, but you take one of your best players away off your team, you take one of the best players you have, you're not gonna be better. You're not gonna get you're not gonna be the same team you are. And what about Jason Tatum's health? You know, he just came back last year after that Achilles. He sat out game seven against Philadelphia in the playoffs he couldn't go. How is his health moving forward? You're gonna rely on Jason Tatum's health when Jalen Brown has played 80-some games for the last six seasons? And you're gonna trade him away for Paul George? Brad Stevens is supposed to be this guru GM, and he looks like a complete idiot with this trade. A complete moron. I don't understand what Boston is thinking. They Jaden Brown must have pissed someone off in that organization, or they clearly think that he's not a very good player. Because I just said he's seventh on their anecdotal chart. Forget about the points per game, forget about the assists per game, forget about the you know, how many all-star games? Forget that. Oh, you're you're only seventh on our anacalytical list. You're you're you're gone. Philadelphia also added, after they got Jaden Brown, they also added Dean Wade for your $39 million deal. So if they can keep Joel and Bede happy, they got Maxie, they got Brown now, they got Dean Wade, this Philadelphia team. They might be something to reckon with here. They clearly got better. And Boston clearly got worse out of this trade. Now the other big trade that happened was the uh LA Clippers sent or San Diego Clippers for those old school people. San Diego Clippers sent Kawhi Leonard back to Toronto, where of course Kawhi Leonard is famous for winning Toronto an NBA championship in 2019. Remember, he hit that big shot in the corner in the playoffs over Joel L. Embiid uh to propel Toronto to get to the next uh next round. Uh, you know, that was probably Philadelphia's best team with Embiid there. Uh Toronto beat them with that great shot, and then he went on to beat Golden State in the NBA Finals. When Golden State was uh all their players were getting hurt. That's when uh Durant got hurt in that playoff. That's when Klay Thompson tore his ACL in that playoff. Uh Draymond Green was suspended one of the games in that playoff. So, you know, that's that's the NBA finals where Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors won. Now they got him back and they traded him for Brandon Ingham, Grady Dick, and two unprotected first round picks. Now, if you're Toronto, you're probably like, well, we got this young team. Just traded away two young guys, Brandon Ingram and Grady Dick. We got this young team. We made the playoffs, we couldn't close any game. We needed a veteran. We think we're close. We're playing the East. There's no way the Knicks could be as good. Boston's worse now. Philadelphia may be the best team. Cleveland's trying to get LeBron. Atlanta was up and coming. Orlando just hired a new coach. Brown's thinking, you know what? We're in the mix here. We're in the mix. Let's go up, let's go get Kawhi. Now, Kawhi, he's like the same age as Paul George. What is he, 36, 35, 37? How much more does this guy got left in the day? You traded two quality players and two unprotected first-round picks? I again, I don't understand what some of these teams do. Now, like I said, they think they have a chance to win. But are they that close? Is adding Kawhi make them an NBA finals caliber team? I don't think so. I don't think Kawhi's gonna play enough games. Here's another guy, you know, load management. Doesn't want to play all the time. How are they gonna manage that? That's where the whole load management started. That's when it really kicked in. It was his last couple, his last few seasons in San Antonio, he started doing it. He really kicked it into gear when he got to Toronto because that's why the Spurs got rid of him. So we'll see what Kawhi can do in Toronto. But I don't expect anything. If Kawhi could get them to a second-round playoff series, then I would consider the trade a success. But I don't even think that's gonna happen. Not when you're trading other key pieces and first-round picks that you're gonna need to keep your team building. I don't know. This doesn't seem like that was the right move by Toronto. Maybe if Toronto gets off the hot star, maybe there'll be buyers in the trade deadline next year. Here's another guy we talked about. When the uh Miami Heat picked up the freak, Giannis. One of the main guys that Miami had to keep was Norman Powell. And you know, Pat Riley and Eric Spelestra said in the press conference that was their main goal was to keep Norman Powell. They're gonna keep him and try to re-sign him because that was one of the key pieces they needed. He's a point guard, he carries the ball up, moves the ball up well, distributes the ball well. That was one of the key things Miami was trying to do. Well, couldn't have been too key because he signed with the Chicago Bulls for a two-year $45 million deal. So now Miami just Miami got even worse. Yeah, they got the freak, Giannis, but they're no better than they were a year ago now. Now, after losing Norman Powell, oh my god, now they're even worse. Go back to the Celtics. After the Celtics made the uh Jaden Brown trade, they made a big splash of free agency signing Mitchell Robinson from the New York Knicks. Three-year, 47.4 million dollar deal. Now, I know Robinson just won. He was a big part of the Knicks uh playoff run. Uh great defensive player. Can't shoot free throws worth the way. But I don't know if he's worth three years 47.4 million dollars. Now, obviously, the Knicks couldn't pull that out and and uh keep him. You heard James Dolan says they weren't going to the second apron to keep the team together. So you knew there was gonna be some moves this offseason. Well, this is one of them. The Knicks aren't gonna be able to keep him, they aren't gonna be able to re-sign Mitchell Robinson. That's gonna be a big loss for the Knicks and a huge signing for Boston. Now, does it replace productivity and what Jaden Brown brought on the team? No, but it gives the Celtics some size to help, you know, get some rebounds, block some shots defensively. They become a little better defensively, still missing the scoring that Jaden Brown provided. They also signed Mike Connolly to a one-year deal. Mike Connolly has spent the last few years in Minnesota. By Mike Connolly agreeing to this one-year deal, he will become one of the few NBA players to play 20 seasons in the NBA. So uh Mike Connolly signing that with Boston. And they also signed a Nemes Cueda, a four-year, $56 million extension. So they keep in. He must be high on the uh analytical chart. That's why Boston uh signed him uh to that deal. Uh Tobias Harris has left the Detroit Pistons. He signed a two-year, $31 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs. And here's the big thing the Spurs did. They got Tobias Harris to come fit in on that bench uh to go along with those young players. He brings some leadership. Now, here's what San Antonio did that was big that no one's really talking about. They went out and signed ex-Fortigator head coach who won two national championships, ex Chicago Bulls head coach, Billy Donovan, to be an assistant coach. That's what the Spurs needed. Mitch Johnson there in those NBA finals games. The head coach currently of the San Antonio Spurs. He looked like a deer in Headlights in those games. He looked like that he needed some guidance. He looked like when the team had those big leads and they were losing them and they were giving them up. He looked like he didn't know what to do. Because he's still a young coach, still trying to figure out what a young team. Now here comes Billy Donovan. Gonna sit next to him on the bench, gonna guide him, gonna lead him. Gonna give his advice, gonna step in when needed. This is what exactly the Spurs needed and Mitch Johnson needed was a veteran coach on the bench, a guy who's won big games, a guy who's won national championships in college, and a guy who could solidify and keep these rookies, these young players in check and guide them along, and how to prepare themselves in big games and how to handle big situations when the games are tight. This is a guy that's gonna come in, he's gonna step in, he's gonna be a voice, and he's gonna, you know, calm these guys down when they're in these tight game situations when their butt cheeks pucker up and they get in these tight situations in games. Billy Div is going to be there, relax the team. He's gonna help these players, and he's also gonna be a good guide for Mitch Johnson. To me, that's a that's a big, that's a pretty big signing right there for the Spurs. Now let's uh break into uh a little NFL stuff here, right here on the show. Of course, our segment that we do uh all summer long as we go into the host is over and under predictions for the 2026 season. Well, I got this stat before we get into it. Most receiving touchdowns over the last five years in the NFL. Who do you think is number one on this list? This is over the last five years. Most receiving touchdowns in the NFL. Devontae Adams is number one with 55 touchdowns. Some of you thought it was Jamar Chase, right? Some of you thought it was Jamar, uh Justin Jefferson, didn't you? Huh? Some of you people thought that. Nope. Devontae Adams has the most touchdowns receiving over the last five seasons with 55. Jamar Chase is 54. He's second. Mike Evans is third with 47. Mike Evans signed that big uh offseason deal with the San Francisco 49ers. Amon St. Brown up there in Detroit with 44. T. Higgins, Jamar Chase's teammate, he comes in at fifth on this list with 39. George Kittle is sixth with 38. AJ Brown, who just got sent packing to New England, is seventh on this list with 37. DK Metcalf, Mr. Assaulting Fans in Detroit who deserve it. He comes in at 37 touchdowns over the last five years. Mark Andrews, tight end out of Baltimore, the only tight end uh that's listed here. I'm sorry, George Kittle is on this list too. I'm sorry. The second tight end listed on this uh list here of guys with touchdowns over the last five years, he comes in with 36. Stefan Diggs, who doesn't have a home yet for this 2026 season, he's on the list with 36. Tyree Kill, who also doesn't have a home yet this year in this season. He comes in at 36. And the last guy on this list with Dallas, C. D. Lamb. He also has 36 uh touchdown receptions over the last five years. Now we are gonna break into our start of our NFC North breakdown. And we're gonna start right off with the Minnesota Vikings. Uh currently the host is six, five, and one uh with his uh 2000. I believe it's the uh six, five, and one. Let me go back and look on my sheet here. Yes, six, five, and one. Currently sitting with his 2025 over-under prediction. So we started off with the this show with the 2026 Minnesota Vikings. Last year, their record was 9-8. Their head coach is Kevin O'Connell, their leading QB was JJ McCarthy, 1,632 pass yards, 11 touchdowns, 12 interceptions. Justin Jefferson, their leading receiver, 1,048 yards and only two touchdowns. Their leading running back was Jordan Mason, 758 yards to go along with six touchdowns. Their leading sacker was Dallas Durham with eight sacks. Tackles, Blake Cashman, 144. Their offensive rank was 28th. Their defensive rank was third, led, of course, by the great defensive coordinator, Brian Flores. Odds to win a division plus 310. Odds to win the conference plus 2300. Odds to win the Super Bowl plus 4,500. Over and under for the 2026 season. 8.5 minus 130 to the over, plus 110 to the under. They're 2025 over and under was eight and a half. The host predicted them to go seven and ten. They win nine and eight. Boo! Another loss for the host. Oh boy. What is happening here, folks? 6'6 and 1 now. The host sits. Their key additions from this off-season. Kyler Murray. Uh Eric Wilson, three years, 22 million, and James Pierre out of Pittsburgh, two years, 8.5 million defensive back. Their key departures were Javon Hargrave, Jonathan Allen, and Jalen Naylor. They drafted Caleb Doinkes, off defensive tackle, Jake Guladay, a linebacker, Dominique Oran, a defensive tackle, and Caleb Tyrion, an offensive tackle. Now we go to their schedule. Now they have, to me, a pretty manageable schedule. Now they, of course, they play all the teams in their division, and they have like teams like Atlanta, Carolina, the Jets, Saints, Miami. They got those teams thrown in their schedule. So Minnesota's schedule is very manageable. So let's just see who we come up with. They're at home at Green Bay. I got them winning that game. At Chicago, lost. At Tampa Bay, loss. Miami, win. At New Orleans, win. Dubai. Indianapolis at home, win. At Detroit, lost. Buffalo on Monday night football, lost. At Green Bay, loss. At San Francisco, Sunday night football. That game's in Mexico, lost. Atlanta at home win. Carolina at home win. And New England, Thursday night football, lost. Detroit at home, Sunday night football, win. Washington at home win. At the Jets win. Chicago to wrap up the season, loss. I got the Minnesota Vikings going 9-8. So the same record they did last year, that would be over the 8.5. And that would be minus 130 to that. So that would be my suggestion of that. Key things for me here for the Minnesota Vikings this season. They already had the third best defense in the league. They drafted three defensive players to mix in already with a great defense. Brian Flores state. He has one of the most confusing looks defense in the league. And they're going to continue to put the whole teams at bay with that defense. The only thing is, can Kevin O'Connell get anything out of Jay-J McCarthy or Kyler Murray? I think Kyler Murray's going to have wanna have something to prove. I think he's going to take over in camp. I think he's going to become friends with Justin Jefferson. I think that Kevin O'Connell is going to have a good relationship with Kyler Murray. And I think they're going to be able to win some games. Now the main thing is here, can you keep Kyler Murray from getting injured and then having to go to J.J. McCarthy? If that's the case with Minnesota, then they're not going 9-8. They might be a 6-7 win team. Because JJ McCarthy isn't going to be winning them games. Their defense is going to win them games. But can JJ McCarthy go out with win some games? That I don't know. That's why I got Minnesota at 9-8. Just over the 8.5. Our next team in the NFC North, the 2026 Chicago Bears. Their 2025 record was 11 and 6. Their head coach is Ben Johnson. Their leading quarterback is the Messiah. Caleb Williams, 3,942 passing yards, 27 touchdowns at 7 interceptions. Their leading receiver was Colston Loveland, 713 yards and 6 touchdowns. Their leading running back was DeAndre Swift, 1,089 yards with 9 touchdowns. Their leading sacker, Montez Sweat. Their leading tackle, Jermaine Edwards, 112. Their offensive rank was six. Their defensive rank is 29th. Odds to win the division plus 320. Odds to win the conference plus 1200. Odds to win the Super Bowl plus 2200. Their over and under in 2026 is 9.5. Plus 110 to the over. Minus 130 to the under. So William Hill loves the Chicago Bears to be under the 9.5. Their 2025 over and under was 8.5. The host had them going 9-8. They went 11-6 over the 8.5. Well winner for the host. 7 6-1 now. Our record of our over and unders from last season. Their key additions are Kobe Bryant, three years $40 million deal. Devin Bush, linebacker, three-year $30 million deal. Case Keenum, the backup. The Messiah, two years, five and a half million. They lost DJ Moore in a trade to Buffalo. Tremaine Edwards signed elsewhere as a free agent. And Drew Dahlman, an offensive lineman, has left. They drafted Dylan Themia, great safety out of Oregon. Logan Jones, a center, Sam Roush, a tight end, and Xavier Thomas, a wide receiver. Now, they got the same schedule as Minnesota. And I don't mean the same exact teams. I mean same schedule as they played their division. They play uh Atlanta, Carolina, Tampa Bay, that division. And of course they play Buffalo, Miami, the Jets, and New England in that division. But however, where Minnesota of their last three games, Minnesota only played one divisional opponent. The Chicago Bears, they play Green Bay, Detroit, and Minnesota in their last three games of the season. That makes a difference. That's tough. And there's gonna be a lot of pressure on this Chicago team this year. After going 11-6, a lot of pressure on Caleb Williams. Can they do it again? Now, again, I'm gonna state this, and it goes back to what I was talking about on the last show. What you see from year to year is always different. It's not always the same. Remember how many games last year the Chicago Bears won in the last fourth quarter and came back and won? They're not gonna do the same thing again this year. Let's look at the sky. At Carolina, win. Minnesota at home, win. Monday night football, home, win. Jets at home, win. At Green Bay lost, at Atlanta lost. New England at home, Thursday night football, win. At Seattle lost. Tampa Bay at home, Sunday night football, lost, five. Saints at home, win. At Detroit, Thanksgiving, loss. Jacksonville at home, win. At Miami win. At Buffalo, Saturday game, loss. Green Bay at home, Christmas Day, win. Detroit win at Minnesota win. So I mentioned those last three games of the season being all division games. I got them winning all three of those games. I got the Bears going 11 and 6. I think they made improvements on defense. They were ranked 29th last year. I think that defense has improved. I think another year with Caleb Williams under Ben Johnson, I think the Messiah is going to be a little better. Now, the key thing is, is what I'm saying before. Are they going to be able to come back and win games like they did a year ago? We're going to see what kind of magic Caleb Williams is. We're going to see what kind of kid this guy is. We're going to see if he can take the next step and become elite quarterback in the NFL. The host is banking on it. I'm banking on it. I'm going over to nine and a half. I'm not biting on the William Hills minus 130 under. The host is betting on the plus one ten on the over. I'm going with the Bears 11 and 6 for this season.
