3 Strategies for You to Gain Recognition
Show Notes

Have you been craving some recognition for all your amazing hard work and contribution?

If so, it’s no wonder. You deserve it!

One of our primary drivers of happiness is the desire to feel acknowledged and valued. If you’ve been going over and above the call of duty, producing stellar results, but have not been receiving the recognition you want and deserve, here are three ways you can light a fire under the behind of others, so they take notice of you and laud your efforts and accomplishments.

1.) Hone It and Own It.
Repeat to a trusted friend, family member or to yourself in the mirror every day for at least a week at the same time every day. You can even send an audio message to someone.:

‘I am excellent at ….., and I bring tremendous value to …….  I love it because ….., and I speak about my area of passion and expertise to three colleagues, family members or friends a week.’

(Then write down who it will be and when you’ll reach out).

2.) Gain Clarity.
Who do you want recognition from? Plan a date and time to have a conversation with him/her.

3.) Craft the Conversation AND Practice.
Remember the importance of feeling ‘acknowledged and validated’? It rings true for others too. So, 1.acknowledge and validate whomever you’d like recognition from, 2.explicitly ask for what you need/want, and then 3.ask a question that will prompt the other person to understand that recognizing your or your team’s efforts is important. For example:

‘Seems like you’ve been busy with many important initiatives which I understand 100%.’

‘I wanted to share that myself and my team have generated xyz results, and it’s important to me that once a quarter, perhaps the last Friday of the week, there could be some sort of recognition, such as xyz.’ ‘This would help myself and my team maintain purpose-driven motivation, so we can feel valued and keep producing at a high level throughout the year, which I know is important to you and the company, right?

By taking more control and becoming more strategic, you should have a better chance of helping others to be more aware of what you’re doing as well as the importance of awarding the recognition you want and deserve.

Cheering you on always,
