In case you missed my LIVE interview with the fabulous Laura Guio (General Manager, Global Cisco and Apple Alliance and California Senior State Exec, IBM), here are a few of the wisdom gems she shared:
- You need to have this little voice inside of you asking: What do you stand for? What do you want to do? How do you want to operate? Then you're able to distinguish and make decisions based on that.
- Women and the underrepresented minorities when you are trying to go after something, ask, you could be told no, but try again. Sometimes it takes multiple tries.
- Take the combination of selling what you do know and being enthusiastic and energetic about what you want to learn.
- You need to have some small aspect of what you know about a job. And then there will be some aspect of the job you don't know. You just need to want to know more and highlight that people.
- It’s important to be self aware. Highlight what you like and what you're good at. If you don't like what you're doing, you're not going to be good at it.
