The great resignation is a thing, and let’s make sure you and your team are not part of it.
Unfortunately, it’s not where your (or your team's) greatest creativity, innovative ability, or profitability exist. If you are grinding it out, do you want to keep working this way, and how will it affect your ability to have your greatest impact?
The great news is that there are ways to take some control back and create more time for what matters!
Here’s a great place to start which is taken from Greg McKeown’s book, Essentialism...
He mentions a "Zero-Based Budgeting Approach." It’s similar to when accountants start from zero rather than from incorporating in past expenses. Start your calendar and commitments from zero, as if none of them exist (wouldn’t that be amazing!). Then justify each meeting, project, etc. to yourself as if it was brand new. Would you agree to do it? Is it essential? If the answer is "no," delegate, postpone, or eliminate.
Yep, take a couple of hours to zero out your calendar and commitments and gradually add items back in, after asking some of these tough questions.
