Christians are Christ’s true family, for the glory of God.

 Who is Christ’s True Family?

 1. Not those related in the flesh

  • Mark 3:34-35 And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers!35 For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.
  • John 1:12-13  But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [a]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
  • John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
  •  John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

2. Those related by the Spirit

  • Luke 8:21 But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
  • John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
  • James 1:18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
  • James 1:21-22 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
  • 1 Peter 3:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.
