The Supremacy of Christ
Show Notes

We must recognize the supremacy of Jesus in order to glorify God.

Jesus’ supremacy is seen by:

1. His transfiguration

Luke 9:29 As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

2 Peter 1:16-18 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” 18 And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

2. The two witnesses

Luke 9:30 And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

James 5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.

3. The Father’s testimony

Luke 9:35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”

Luke 3:21-22 When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. 22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
