We glorify God by recognizing and appreciating God’s patient grace.
We see our Lord’s patient grace in:
1. The apostles’ unbelief.
- Luke 9:41 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.”
- Mark 9:24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
- 2 Peter 2:9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment
2. The apostles’ not understanding.
- Luke 9:45 But they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this saying.
- 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
- Romans 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
3. The apostles’ unbelievable question.
- Luke 9:46 Then a dispute arose among them as to which of them would be greatest.
- Colossians 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
- 2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
- Psalm 103:8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
