Were You Listening? Track 12: Elogio a Nieves Fresneda
Show Notes

In Elogio a Nieves Fresneda, El Goyo Hernández constructs a eulogy to Nieves Fresneda, an icon of Afro-Cuban folklore, based on the myriad of instruments and rhythms that exist in Afro-Cuban folklore.

In the construction of this episode we received help from our previous guest the great Marisol Blanco and from her main instructor, Alfredo O’Farrill Pacheco, who she helped us contact. Alfredo O’Farrill Pacheco is a renowned Afro-Cuban dancer and teacher. He is the 1st dancer of the distinguished Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba and is currently the head of the Department of Folkloric Dance in the prestigious Instituto Superior de Artes in Havana. Alfredo’s teachers include both Nieves Fresneda and El Goyo Hernández.
