Acts. 16:11-40

Paul’s Ministry in Macedonia, initially at Philippi, started prophetically and powerfully(note, Lydia and her household’s conversion, verses 13-15; the miraculous deliverance of a lowly female slave with a demonic fortune teller’s spirit, employed by some evil unethical capitalists, verses 16-18) resulted in an unfair trial, a terrible beating and prison time at the hands of her owners. They “lost their hope of making money”(v19). The circumstances they found themselves in were life threatening. Did God lead Paula nd Silas to Macedonia only to have them be tortured and die? It certainly looked like it!

But God in the midst of this seemingly dead end experience decides to manifest Himself in a most unusual way. And what’s astounding is that Paul and Silas, jailed in an inner cell, severely flogged, “at about midnight, bleeding and exhausted, were praying and singing hymns to God.

They sang so loud that “the other prisoners were listening to them; then suddenly, unexpectedly God showed up in the midnight hour!

What can believers learn from such a story, especially those in much different situations yet still just as in need of radical deliverance. They also are facing a mountain, that they in their our imprisoned situations are incapable of escaping, placed there by the enemy, unjustly for their good works(no good deed goes unpunished.)
