Through this podcast, we will share the experiences and wisdom of our most inspirational Indigenous women and learn more about the Cultural ways and history of the people of the Kimberley region, Western Australia. These are the personal stories of their journey presented to you by Natasha Short. Kimberley Jiyigas is a collective of Kimberley Indigenous women influencing social change and is based in Kununurra, WA. Lena buckle Fraser was born in Beagle Bay mission in the West Kimberley and is connected to the Nykina , Walmatjarri , Nyul Nyul people of the Kimberley region.
She’s 80 years of age , but is also the youngest of 10 children !
Lena is a multi talented woman, who has had a full life and enjoyed many rich experiences. She shares her recollections of growing up in the Kimberley, under a different era, and some of her fondest memories of the past .
She is well known as a lover of life, and is a widely loved Elder within our region .
